Backing up one ED to another

One more question:
I have one external (WD Passport 120) that I keep all of my photos on for editing. Id like to periodically back that up to my desktop LaCie Drive. What is the best way to do this?
Is it possible to use TM for this?
Do I need to just copy the whole thing each time?

yes, TM can do this. however, it might not be the best tool for the job. TM can only have one destination drive and will back up all directly attached and internal drives to that. also, if you back up your internal using TM regularly and only back up the passport drive occasionally, TM will back it up from scratch each time you connect it. this will eat up the backup space very quickly.
you might want to use a different backup tool for occasional backups of the passport drive. I recommend CCCloner or Superduper for that.

Using Time Machine to back up one Airdisk to another Airdisk

I've got a hard drive (I'll call it HD1) attached by my AirPort Extreme Base Station (802.11n). I've been using Time Machine to back up my MacBook's internal hard drive to that drive for several months now, with no problems. I just bought an additional external hard drive (HD2) and attached it to my AEBS, along with HD1, using a USB hub. Both drives are working fine.
However, I have been unable to get Time Machine to back up HD2 to HD1. Even when HD2 is mounted on my desktop, Time Machine will not back it up - it backs up only my internal hard drive. When I connected HD2 directly to my computer by a USB cable, Time Machine will back it up to HD1. It's only when it's connected to the AEBS that Time Machine ignores it.
I would very much like to have both hard drives connected to the AEBS all the time, but I need to have my data on HD2 backed up. Has anyone been able to back up one airdisk to another using Time Machine?
Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Even if that worked, that would be horribly inefficient. The data from HD2 would be copied from the drive through the AEBS to your MacBook then back to the AEBS and to HD1.

Back up the iPod, then restore this backup to your iPad (see ). Note: this will not transfer camera roll photos, which cannot be restored by restoing an iPod backup to an iPad. To transfer these, import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, then put them in a folder and sync them to your iPad by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing your iPad.

I've read the entire ipodtouch manual twice; am still baffled by a few things--1. is there no way to return to a previous "page" when looking at app contents?
2. how does one delete a magazine or book from those apps? thanks so much for any help for this slow learner.

1. With a lot of apps, swiping to the left advances, to the right goes backward.
2. Hold your finger on the book and when a circle appears either with a minus or x tap it.
Of course, some apps operate differently which may be the reason for not finding "universal" instructions.

How do I back-up Organizer tags from one computer to another?

Having successfully restored my PSE6 Organizer from one computer to another as back-up,I wish to keep backing-up. However, I have tried CDs, DVDs,external hard drives and flash discs and the tags are not imported, or rather,just one or two are.
I click ' Select All' when I import, the ticks are shown, but it does not work. Thank you,

I need full back-up as I need Organizer for my work, so use 2 computers. I initially backed-up my entire catalogue on an external hard-drive. Then on the new computer, I used 'Restore'. Although this took 14 hours, it worked, with all tags and captions, although not Albums.
Now, I wish to continue to back-up not only my new photos, but also the tags. I cannot use 'Restore', as this will apparently delete all those pictures already there. So, first of all, I open PSE6, then, 'Make a CD/DVD' and proceed to save. To transfer to the other computer, I use 'Get Photos or Videos'. Everything is okay, except for the tags. I have also tried just dragging the pictures over to Organizer, with the same result.

Is there a way to move files from one folder to another without copying and pasting and then going back to delete the original? The cut and paste function is not available and there's no "move to" function. Am I missing something? It was so easy with Windows.

Drag the files, or press Option when pasting them; this accesses the Move To function.

How to back up one mac to an external using another mac

I want to back up my old MacBook Pro onto an external hard drive. The old MacBook Pro is bad shape, hard to use in normal mode. The apple store genius told me I could use my new MacBook Air as a conduit for this back up. I purchased a FireWire cable with a Thunderbolt adapter for this purpose. I was attempting to use Migration Assistant to accomplish this back up, putting the old MacBook Pro in Target Disk mode, but from what I've read on these forums, mainly this article: Mac OS X v10.6: How to use Migration Assistant to transfer files from another Mac, it doesn't seem possible to back up onto an external given the options I am given in the process. So my question is (A) how do I back up one macbook in target disk mode onto an external using a second macbook as a conduit, and (B) is it possible to simply back up the old MacBook Pro while in Target Disk or Safe modes? Thanks so much for any help.

I've not tried using Migration Assistant before so i'm not sure on that. But if you put the old Mac in Target Disk mode and connect the working Mac to that it should show as an external drive, then connect your external HDD to the working Mac, open both drives and simply copy the data over or use your favourite backup software to do it.

unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups

Yes. Copy your apps and other iTunes purchases/downloads to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases if you have iTunes 11 on your computer), then backup up the first iPad and restore that backup onto the second iPad.

Things that aren't included in a backup include the contents of the Music and Videos apps (but they should be on your computer's iTunes) and photos that were synced from a computer. Also you will need to enter your passwords (email, wifi, website) on the second iPad - they won't be restored onto a different device, only back onto the device that the backup came from.
