Backing up to tape- not successful

I am running iMovie 6.0.4 and have a movie that I want to back up to tape on my camcorder (Canon HV20) I am running 10.4.11 on a Macbook Pro. I was able to import video from the camcorder to the computer with a firewire cable just fine, but when I try to reverse the process it gives the message "Cannot export to camera. Your firewire camer is not powered on or is not available. This can happen if you have added or removed a device from FireWire. Please try again." I have the camera in play mode and use the share menu/video camera. I have plugged the firewire into the camera in the only place I can find, which is that same place as the output to the computer. I have restarted many times and have the camera plugged in to ac power. Is there a compatibility issue?

Be sure to connect the camcorder directly to your computer. Don't chain it to any other devices.
I think Canons have more problems with this, but I have run into the problem a few times with my Sonys, including recently when I was exporting and just changed the DV tape in the camcorder. Suddenly I got those messages about the camcorder not being connected, check that, camera is off, etc. I just kept closing iMovie, turning the camcorder off and on, and finally restarted my Mac. That seemed to do it and everything then worked.
If you cannot get the Canon to work, can you borrow another digital camcorder and try with that?

If your messages and photos weren't part of your backup, then they're gone.
Certainly you weren't foolish enough to update the iOS on your phone before importing your photos off your phone for safe keeping on your computer like you would do with any digital camera, were you?

The default settings mostly likely use an audio sample rate of 32k. This doesn't work probably in FCP. You're probably better off capturing the tape in iMovie.

If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.

TS3992 I just keep getting an error that back up was not successful

My phone keeps telling me to back up my phone to iCloud since it has been awhile. When I try by (plugging in, turning on wifi) it just looks like its loading and then says back up was not successful. My iPad backs up just fine but my phone won't.

On a time capsule the error message is meaningless. That would only apply to an external drive...TC is a network drive.
I recommend you just reboot the whole network.. from off..
Restart in order.. modem.. TC.. clients. Wait 2 min between each one.
If the disk still won't mount give us more info..
Are you using wireless or ethernet?
How is the TC configured?
What sort of internet?

Why will my i phone 4 not successfully update the new I.O.S 5

Why is it that when i install the downloadable content on I tunes my I phone 4 connects and starts downloading fine, then as the download comes to an end as soon as it finisheswhich is around (1 to 2 hours) it says 'sorry I tunes was not successful in updating the I phone 4's version of I.O.S 5 due to either network problems or technical problems. ? this is utter rubish as i have a 15 MB internet connection that is on five out of five bars ( connection ) on my computer so this means it is running at it's highest speed. So what the **** is going on ? i have the latest I tunes download anyway so thats not the problem, i have connected and fast internet so thats not the problem and i've followed everythin I tunesw hastold me to do for the update such as; back everything up again ( even apps ) so why is it not working ? anyone have any answers please please please i have tried it 4 times now and to be honest if it keeps doing it im sure my I phone will be finishing up in the bin.

try a basic reset, press and hold the sleep/wake button and the home button until the apple logo appears. This may fix your problem.

Can I use my time capsule for back up only and not as a router?

Yes, you can. Simply plug the TC via Ethernet into the current router and set it up in bridge mode.

IPod Nano 8G - Win7 - Device driver software wat not successfully installed

Just got my first Apple iPod Nano 8G (4th) and has installed iTune 9.0.2 (64bit) on my Win 7 Ultimate x64. But I am not able to connect iPod nor Sync with iTune successfully even after reinstall/reboot many times with the same problem.
After the installation of iTune accomplished, I plug USB adapter into PC, then Win7 detected and started to install the driver for the hardware, but got "Device driver software wat not successfully installed" as a result.
Then I went to Device Manager tring to install the driver manually for "Apple iPod USB Driver", but finally I failed again and got "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device....", I think this is the software problem, please kindly advise, thanks a lot!

First, my officejet 4500 all-in-one installed and is working perfectly with wireless; however, I have for months still/have been getting the error/uninstall window continuously, telling me install was not successful, but again, printer, scanner, etc., working fine! But this "the installation was not successful" window is ALWAYS up or if I ctrl-alt-del and get it to end now, it comes back up; I have even let it do its thing, finish, restart, but it ALWAYS comes back up, trying to find a solution, etc. BUT MY PRINTER IS WORKING FINE! Please help me get rid of this; also, the file that it puts on desktop to troubleshoot, etc then delete afterward, I have deleted it, but this "unsuccessful" keeps trying to uninstall, reinstall; and as I said, actually went through all the steps to get it gone (printer working fine) but it will not go away! Hi, I was able to reformat my iPod and that worked. I read it on one of the threads and I am copy pasting the method below:
I opened the "My Computer" window and right-clicked on my ipod, and then selected "Format". I select "Yes" to format since I don't have anything on the nano to delete anymore.
I then Eject my nano from the computer and did a restart while the nano is disconnected from the computer.
Once Windows finish loading I reconnect the USB to the nano(back of computer) which automatically pulls up iTune. It asked me to name the new ipod detected and created a playlist for that specific ipod name.

I have also had the same problem with my Win 7 32 bit computer. I had great help from Apple techs in Montreal and Orlando for 2.5 hours. They helped me remove every trace of Apple products and clean the registry in two different ways. Each install gave the same problem! If Apple techs can't fix it (on some of our machines) then we are really in trouble. They promised to raise it with the "engineers" and get back to me with a solution. I am waiting and hoping. Otherwise maybe version 11.1.5 will have a fix ??

None of these solves my problem! My iPad3 has not successfully backed up to the cloud since 10/11/2012. I have restarted the iPad, several times; i have reset it (simultaneously held down the home and on/off button); I have tried to manually do the backup (ie, 'Back Up Now'); i have deleted all apps' backup and turned them off for iCloud backup (in case one of the apps was hanging it up); i have, finally, deleted the previous iCloud backup, in case the last (10/11/12) backup was somehow compromised. When I try to do a manual backup I get very little in the way of status and no explanation or error message or code as to why the backup failed. This is really useless. I have screen shots of all this in case anyone (anyone at all) from Apple is paying attention here.

Try manually placin the iPod in Recovery Mode and restore via iTunes.

I am attempting to burn my first dvd w/ dvdstudio pro. I pressed burn. Processing took approximately 25 minutes. Everything seems to be goin well. The I get the following message,
"Formatting was not successful. Layer 0 exceeds the maximum layer size allowed. Please choose a suitable marker location that will support this condition."
Can anyone help me out with this?

It sounds like you are trying to burn a dual layer disc. Do you need a dual layer disc? (i.e., do you have more than 4.3 GB of material?) If you do then there is a tutorial at;
