Backing up what?

I've been backing up part of my home folder: Pictures, Music, Documents, and Library.
I'm about to embark on a complete reinstall of 10.4, to try to resolve regular kernel panics before assuming it's a hardware issue.
Should I take the Library folder out of my backups (and therefore not restore it when I reinstall)? That is, if I'm going to reinstall the OS and (shudder) all the applications, is it better to also start with a fresh User/Library folder?

A better method is to clone your hard drive to an external Firewire disk using third party software, such as SuperDuper! Then do an erase and install then use Migration Assistant to move all files and apps back to the new drive. Works like a charm. Supposedly, it's possible to copy back whatever was causing the problem but that hasn't been the case for me. I've done this twice on 2 different computers and got a sparkling new, trouble free system both times with all my apps already on it.
If you do have a problem then you can just do the erase and install again then load your apps back in the hard way and copy your files from the clone.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that your device is correctly connected to the wifi/internet (settings > wifi)
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
If this doesn't help, try turning off some items for back up in a pattern to try to establish if your problem is being caused by specific data on your device.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

Go into iTunes, select the name of your iphone on the list on the left hand side of iTunes, looks right above the picture of your iphone and you'll see summary info apps etc. go all the way to the right and you'll see photos, check mark the box to sync photos and chose the folder where you imported the photos to your computer from.

You have probably simply opened a blank Layout template which has no default text area. In Layout documents you need to add textboxes to the page.
Just start over from the Tempalet Chooser and pick a Word Processing document (see the sidebar titles) or a template with actual content in it already.

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
If fonts are messed up or look blurry then try to set the gfx.content.azure.enabled pref to false or if this didn't help disable Direct2D by setting the gfx.direct2d.disabled pref to true on the about:config page and leave hardware acceleration otherwise enabled.

Right or control click the + then click Remove Item.

You can redownload you previously purchased apps for free as long as they are still available in the app store. Be sure you are logged into the Apple ID in iTunes used to purchase them, then follow this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.

Hi,
I have the same problem. My Ipad 3 was a bit slow/unresponsive, and then it just went blank. I pressed the home button to see if it would come back on, and it was extremely slow, but it did show me the home screen. However, then it went off and wont come back on at all now. I have tried charging, tried the reboot, connected to itunes (which cannot detect the ipad) and nothing is working.
The ipad is only 2 months old, and no damage!
Any suggestions? Thanks
