Backlight doesn't work on v 1.1

Hello there
How I can temporarily turn on v 1.1 backlight, while it is set off. Because on v 1.0 it was possible to turn on/off by holding MENU for app. 2 sec. But in v 1.1 I can't do this. Am I doing something wrong or it is disabled?
Thanks for any help

here is wats new
1. holding menu will take you to the main menu instead of activating or deactivating the backlight
2. lyrics and album art staying on screen and not disappearing after 10 seconds
3. Apple Radio Remote support
4. Line-out problem, occasionally when going from headphones to line-out, there would be no sound.
5. The 'Alarm' feature has been overhauled, easier to set the time, and a little bell icon is displayed next to the 'Alarm' menu item when it is set.
6. 'Screen-lock' has also been changed, slightly different interface, the numbers are in sunken boxes as opposed to the red glow. And a new warning is given telling you to hook your Nano up to your comp if you forget your code.
7. There was a problem with turning off, if you scrolled back or forward through a playlist/album, back to the main menu, sometimes it would not turn off.
8. The song title is in bold above the lyrics when you go to the lyrics screen
9. itunes opens almost instantly (within a second or 2) with the ipod showing. Before, this used to take 5-10 seconds, maybe more.
10. Reduced lag, before, when scrolling and clicking quickly through menus and songs, had some 'slow down', this is gone now.
11. Before the update I noticed a lag when I would skip songs, the next song would come on but the tags would have a slight lag on them and that has been fixed as well.

Make sure that u have the latest service pack jar file ( for example weblogic510sp11.jar
for service pack 11 - use service pack 8 or later for better NTREALM configuration
) ahead of the weblogicaux.jar in your classpath. This should solve the problem.

  • Keyboard backlight doesn't work in Windows

I used Boot Camp to install Windows 7. The install went fine, and the drivers seemed to install without any problems. I noticed, however, that my backlight does not function. All of the function media keys work (brightness and such), and when I press the backlight buttons, I can see the pop up acknowledging the change in back light, but the light never actually turns on. Is there a way to fix this without me reformatting the partition I just installed and updated?

When you say "null on the light bar" do you mean that there is an on-screen indicator that appears when you press the brightness keys, but it doesn't change?
Which Mac are you using? I have a 13" MacBook Pro (2010) and those keys seem to work fine for me. But I just installed Boot Camp, so I might be using newer drivers than you are.
Are you using Boot Camp 4? This just came out with Lion. It allows for automatic updates to the Windows drivers and support software. If you installed Boot Camp before you upgraded to Lion, then you might need to upgrade your Windows drivers to Boot Camp 4. See here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mchlp15553.html
If none of this applies to you, then I'm not sure what to do about it, other than talk to an Apple service rep.

  • Backlight doesn't work on brand new iPod

Hi, I just received an ipod today for my birthday and the backlight worked for about 10 seconds after I turned the ipod on and now it won't work anymore. Everything else seems to be working fine. I was able to load my music on and everything. Do I just need to return it or is there a way to fix it?

I just got my 30GB iPod with video on Monday and the center select button is rather stiff. It clicks like it's supposed to but in order for it to actually select something I have to press REALLY HARD. I spoke to Apple today and they said to send it back. So annoying, especially after I waited and tracked it from Shanghai, to Alaska, to Indiana, to Tennessee and then watched it sit at the local hub over the weekend before finally getting it. Now I've gotta send it back and wait for them to receive it before they ship it back. I wonder if the replacement will be coming from Shanghai again. Ugh. It was laser engraved so I'm sure that's adding to the headache. Has anyone out there needed to return an engraved iPod? Am I right in guessing that the replacement will be coming from the same place the original came from? Has anyone else had the center button problem?

  • HT3986 My keyboard backlight doesn't work on windows 7 Ultimate but it does on mac OS X Lion version 10.7.3. When I press the keys on keyboard to change the backlight, it just shows me a null on the light bar and doesn't let me turn on the brightness.

Are there any updates that I need for the boot camp or do I have to go to some settings.

  • I dropped my iPod in coffee and the backlight doesn't work.

I dropped it in coffee and stupidly turned it on afterwards. It seemed 'done' for a few days but it dried out. (it was only half submerged for a few seconds). It was fine, other than the camera which is pooched, until today. Now the backlight doesnt come on except for when i turn it on the apple logo is illuminated for a split second, then it goes back to dark. The digitizer still work, an i know this because i can see the screen and use all the functions when i'm looking at it in strong light. Is there any way i can fix this or do i need to order a new screen?

I hate to say it, but you may have to order a new screen. What you're looking at is the backlight most likely was shorted out completely, and when it blinks bright and then turns dark, that's the electricity making connection for a split second and then not working again because the connection is broken. If the rest of the iPod still works, that's good, but you may have to get the backlight component replaced. Hope this helps!

  • Backlight doesn't works

I have a new ZBOOK G2 15. The first thing I did is to upgrade from win7 to win8.1 Pro. Now that the night came, I can't find a way to turn on the backlight of the keyboard. Of course, I already try the F11 key. What can it be?

I am sorry to tell you this but your iPod will not recover from this, devices like the iPods do not like being in water, your very lucky it still works with sound but if I was you I would either claim on your house hold insurance and buy either an iPod classic or an iPod Touch. Or buy the new iPod outright depending on your money stand during this holiday season.

  • My iPod (2g) backlight doesn't work. How do I fix it?

I have a second generation Ipod. And randomly the backlight completely went off. The brightness level was full and the Auto-brightness was also on. Is there any way I can fix this without sending it in?

Try restoring the iPod, first from backup and then to factory defaults/new iPod. If still problem it is a hardware problem.
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
A third-party place like the following maybe less expensive. Google for more.

  • Keyboard backlight doesn't work

Before I take this back to the Apple Store to be diagnosed, thought I'd try here. I have a three week old Macbook Pro 13" (Early 2011) with the 2.3 GHz i5 running OS X 10.6.7 with the MBP update. I upgraded the RAM and hard drive over the weekend to 8GB and 750GB, respectively. In the process of this change, the backlight on my keyboard stopped functioning in all lighting situations. I've tried the SMC and PRAM resets multiple times. I've repaired permissions. I'm running out of things I can find to do to fix the issue. Does anyone have any thoughts on something that I may have missed?
    Thanks for all help.
    Regards,
    T.J.

i'm not sure if it is a hardware problem it might show up in apple hardware test
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509
try that if it is a hardware test take it to an apple store to fix it

  • IMac - Display doesn´t work after restart

My iMac 21 Display doesn´t work after restart. If I turn it off and 1 hour later I want use it again the iMac shows the white screen with the mac logo and then the display goes off. I connected an external display to check if the iMac was ON and with the external display I can login and do everything but the iMac Display doesn´t work .
If I turn it off and wait 3 or 4 hours  and then turn it back on the display works OK.
This is very strange behavior I have spent hours and hours trying to fine the solution or a similar issue but nothing so I am looking help here at apple.com
BTW When I bougth the iMac 21 there were some spots over the display so the display was replaced by the provider. The warranty has expired by now.

To tell you the truth, I don't know if they have to repalce the LCD panel or what they do for a bad backlight. In this reality of block or assembly replacement it probably involves repalcing the panel and not the backlight component. Don't know what it would cost. You'd have to ask that of a service center.

  • Backlight keyboard stopped working after updating to snow leopard

Hi I have a late 2008 macbook pro. When I got the laptop it had 10.5.8 on it and the keyboard backlight was working fine. I dimmed it all the way down to save battery life. Later on I installed 10.6.2 then did an update to 10.6.5. I don't know where it stopped working allong the way but the keyboard backlight no longer works.
I can turn it up using the f keys. It will increase and decrease. There is not a circle with a line through it like I have read that other users have had when their backlight is not working properly.
I can increase it and decrease it. The light never comes on. I have installed that program that lets you control the backlight by putting it in the taskbar, that doesnt fix it. I called apple and reset the SMC by taking the battery out and holding the power button down for 5 seconds then putting the battery back in and turning it back on. That did not fix it. I also asked if there was some preference files that we could throw away to maybe reset it. We tossed about 5 files and that didnt fix it - sorry I cant remember the files. I did a fresh install of snow leopard but i didnt go past the "would you like to bring back your files" part of the install.
Can someone help me? The caps lock button lights up. I dont know if that matters. Please help me fix the backlight on my keyboard. I really dont want to install 10.5.8 again just to see if the light comes back on or not. Is there a bug in snow leopard that messes up my macbook? help!

maybe its fried ? could be just bad luck when you were doing the update ?
    Ridiculous!
    To the OP:
I'd recommend doing a SMC reset, if that doesn't take care of it do a PRAM reset. The instructions are:
    _SMC RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
    • Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    • Release the power button.
    • Attach the computers power cable.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    _PRAM RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    • Release the keys.

I have 8 GB RAM and no swap partition and use thus pm-suspend, but since Linux 3.7.6-1-ARCH, it doesn't work properly anymore.
Suspending works fine, but if I want to resume, my external monitor stays black (my laptop monitor is always deactivated by me, when I am working with an external monitor).
Any ideas where this comes from?
    Regards

    1. Check your journalctl logs for any errors
    2. Try and figure out if your machine is actually locked up, or if the backlight is just off. You could ssh in, or try tying commands blindly into a terminal (like reboot or something with a known result)
    3. Try Ctrl-Alt-Fx to switch away from your X session VT and then back again. This is what I have to do right now, as I also get a black screen on resume from suspend.
    4. Try 'systemctl suspend' instead of pm-suspend.
    Good luck!

  • N97 Proximity Sensor doesn't work quite as well?

I just recently updated my phone and it seems like the switch from portrait and landscape doesn't work quite as well. The angle at which I have to put it on landscape is steeper and it's really annoying. Anyone else have this problem?
edit: I know the firmware went through coz the lock bug isn't there anymore. but when I connect via USB it still tells me "charging" . Just saying

hey there, what you are referring to isn't the proximity sensor lol. the proximity sensor is basically used to detect when your face is close enough to the phone (i.e. when pressing your ear against earpiece), so that the display switches off to stop accidental presses of the screen, and to conserve power by turning the backlight off. anyways what you are referring to are the sensor settings for the accelerometer in your phone. i don't have a N97 so can't vouch for what you're saying, although it may not exactly be a bug, rather a tweak of the accelerometer settings. from memory, the N97 charges via USB, does it not? this behaviour will be automatic upon plugging the cable into your PC. i doubt that there is an option to turn it off, though i am not exactly 100% sure about this. this behaviour may be changed in future firmware updates or it may not, as the phone relies on USB charging as its sole charging method. but its not really a bug as such.
please throw some kudos our way, it would mean a lot to us
