Backlight not coming on for Leopard install

I'm trying to do a clean install of Leopard on my MacBook (Black). As normal, I'm booting from the Leopard DVD, but when it gets to the language selection screen on the setup, the backlight will not come on. If turns off just as the setup is loading. I've tried the obvious things, moving mouse, display buttons, etc. Anyone have any ideas? I've tapped around the laptop to see if there are any loose connections relating to the problem, no such luck. I've not had a problem with the display before, this is new!
Any help/advice much appreciated.

Just to add, I've done the following steps to try and resolve the problem.
- PRAM reset
- System Management reset

Reinstalling etc does not work - does anyone else have the same problem or a clue as to how to fix this?

    Keith,
I got a C6280 and the scanner does not work anymore. I am for 6 days in contact with HP. The last printer driver install form the apple web site does not open the image of HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg because of an invalid checksum. The skipping of the validation gives and error in the install.

  • Gen 4 Nano - Backlight not coming on

I've got a Gen 4 Nano that is about 2 months old. The backlight is not coming on. I've gone into the settings and made sure that it's set to some length of time (5 sec, 10 sec, 30 sec) none of which work. I've also done the recommended reset and have updated the latest version of iPod software.
This just happened today as I turned my iPod on but hadn't used my ipod for about 2 weeks. The device is fully charged.
None of this is working. Any ideas?

Go to Settings>General>Brightness and make sure that you don't have the brightness on the lowest setting.

    hi
i cerated new output message sending PO to vendor by e-mail. I maintained condition records in MN04. Condition table, access sequence all are maintained. I included new output type into the control data of the existing schema RMBEF1 and the schema is assigned to PO also. Also maintain entry in following string   SPRO- Material Management-Purchasing-Messages-Output control-Message Types-Define Message type for PO---Fine-Tuned Control: Purchase Order
Still the output message is not coming automatically while creating PO  every time i add output type namually.  please guide

Hope you have maintained condition for combination. preferrably -
    1) Purch Doc type > PORG > Vendor
    2) Please make sure that, you have maintained the fileds which are relavant for output.(if you are making any changes in existing PO and you need output)

  • TS3479 quick time not working after snow leopard install?

Made video's on my iphone and loaded them to my imac. Video did not work in iphoto.  No Quick time pop up. what happened? Snow leopard install.

You need to re-install iPhoto because it's missing bits of itself:
    Library not loaded...
    Reason: no suitable image found.
Looking at the missing files it's possible that it's missing from the OS. But start with re-installing iPhoto, and if that fails you'll ned to re-install the OS.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only...’

  • Data Not coming Properly for 0HR_PA_OS_1 Data Source?

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to load data to 0PAOS_C01 using 0HR_PA_OS_1 data source. For field 0POS_OCCVAC key figure i am not getting any data from Data Source.
I checked in RSA3 for 0HR_PA_OS_1 data source and  in that it is not populating data for filed OCC_VAC_PERC  field. I checked with HR functional team and they mentioned its a BI issue.
Kindly tell me how can i populate values for the particular field. FYI i am getting correct data for other fields.
    Please help me.
    Thanks

    The possible reasons
1.Your user id might not be having the proper authorization to pull the HR data. This you can confirm with your basis guy,if you are unable to find what are the authorization roles required for HR data, for the time being you can take SAP_ALL authorization in development box and try to pull.
                            OR
2.Try to pull from BW side, you may be able to see the data there because this uses the background user id used in RFC connection ( provided if your background user id having proper authorization ).

  • SSD not big enough for re-install of Snow Leopard - now what

I've installed an SSD in my MacPro - and it's great! Really fast, no problems. BUT, I can't upgrade the system to 10.6.6, because every time I try, I get a kernel panic on start-up. Apple have advised me to re-install SL from the original disc, but....there's not enough space on the SSD to do this. I have other hard drives that have enough space, but if I install SL there...how do I move it over to the SSD? I'm nervous of moving apps. off the SSD, as I'm not sure which have to be with the system, and which don't. I could leave everything well alone, and wait for Lion to arrive, but would have the same problem then.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Did you erase first? no reason SL is too large but I have seen other posts that seem to suggest there are other problems with OS X 10.6 and SSDs.
Mine is 90GB (83GB left for use) and I like to over provision, leave space for temp files and for wear and tear.
10.6.6 combo update @ 1GB has to expand, write temp files, shuffle files around, and could use 7GB during the process.
If you haven't, I'd download, read the pdf manual SuperDuper in the future for smart clone backups, and even put the system on a sparse disk image.
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
I suspect the lack of space is from installing over an old system, no? why not include things like size of SSD. you may have chosen small drive and need to consider stripe a pair instead.

  • Epson RX595 will not print since Snow Leopard install

I cannot get my trusty Epson to print since installing Snow Leopard and latest printer drivers.
I can scan. Just cannot print.
I have looked at some troubleshooting support articles. Does anyone have a good link, tip?
Thanks in advance for any help with this!

Try deleting the printer, the <hard drive>/Library/Printers/EPSON folder and the /Library/Caches/Epson folder, and then reinstalling the drivers using Software Update. Then add the printer, making sure that you are using the Epson driver, not the Gutenprint driver.

  • Keyboard backlight not working correctly after leopard update

My mbp originally came with Tiger (10.4), when Leopard (10.5) was released I updated. The backlight for the keyboard works normally until I installed the 10.5.1 update. After 10.5.1 and all other updates the keyboard backlight no longer worked correctly. In low light conditions or while working in the dark I have to manually turn it on instead of it doing it automatically. Is this a bug or is there a way to fix it?

Yes, I have to cover the sensors with my hands in order for them to turn off when light is back on, otherwise they just stay on.

  • Aperture PS CS3/4 Aperture, not working since Snow Leopard install...

Since installing Snow Leopard today I have been unable to export/edit from Aperture to Photoshop CS3/4 and back again!!!
I have tried it with both CS3 and CS4 as I have both installed. Aperture corrupts the thumbnail on export to both apps, they then open the file in both versions of PS but when you go to save after editing you get a message saying the file is open and you can't save it!!!
It seems to me it's an obvious Snow Leopard issue as it worked perfectly before I upgraded but now I am screwed for editing until a fix is sorted, any suggestions???

I am not having that problem. I can edit with CS4 an image that was previously edited with CS4 and also one that was not previously edited at all.
Did you upgrade Aperture to 2.1.4 before Snow ?

  • DVD Drives not working after Snow Leopard install

Hello all. I'm having problems after installing Snow Leopard. Om my MacBook Pro, my DVD drive doesn't even read discs anymore. It keeps it spinning for a while and then ejects it.
Coincidentally, the drive on my iMac 3+ GHZ is not accepting my discs into the DVD drive. It's not sucking in the discs anymore.
Both of these things started happening right after the Snow Leopard installation.
    Can anyone help?

Have been running without trouble and had total ability to burn disc images to DVD until SL installation. after installation, every burn attempt fails to complete, give me an unrecoverabl, unable to restart error. I does burn data to the disc, but fails at some point near the end of the burn wich renders the disc a "coaster". I put my spare HDD back in wich was running 10.5, the problem exists with that drive also. My next step was to load a fresh drive with 10.5, even then the problem exists. I find it hard to believe that the drive failed exactly when SL was installed, more likely that the installation changed a hardware setting, or installed a firmware update which cause the problem. As I am a repair tech, I have done a ton of reaserch on the subject, and I find that litterally 10's of thousands of people have had the same issue after the SL upgrade. Come on Apple, I always heard you were better than Microsoft, but as everyone can see there is a problem. Get working on the fix and patch it just like Microsoft.

  • IMac will not take Tiger or Leopard Install discs

I have a 17'' iMac with 2GHz Intel Core 2Duo Processor running on 10.4.11 Tiger. I have tried installing 10.5 Leopard onto the mac but it won't accept the disc. It spins for 30 seconds or so then spits it out. I was initially trying to upgrade because I lost the Bluetooth App from the computer (it can't be found in finder and does nothing when clicked on from top right of screen. I can send to the computer but not from it). When the Leopard disc didn't work, I tried putting in the Tiger 10.4.7 discs I received with the computer.. The mac won't even accept that disc, it spins for about 30 seconds then spits it out.
The computer is accepting and reading CD's and DVD movies (legit ones, haven't tried with any copies) but won't take the Mac discs.
Is there anything I can do to make the computer accept the Leopard disc so I can update it? Or is there something I can download to get my bluetooth App back?
Help would be much appreciated, I'm useless with computers.

If cleaning the optical drive as suggested by use of a retail clean disc
that would try and clean the lens of the laser used to read/write to the
media the drive can normally access, and it does not help, you may
have to take the computer in to a shop and have someone test and
    check the computer's optical drive.
An upgrade to a newer OS X system will not fix an issue in the hardware
nor would it necessarily fix some other issue in the software in the Mac.
But when a computer has a problem in one OS X system, it is better to
see about fixing the issue in that OS X version since an upgrade is not
intended to repair some miscellaneous problem which may have been
caused by user error, some other defect (perhaps hardware) or a disk
corruption that could happen if a user overloads the computer's hard disk
drive (stored files you save to the computer) since that can affect the
whole operating system of the computer, if the internal hard disk drive is
    overfull of saved content.
So, there could be more going on that just the first symptom(s) you note.
And when things start acting up, the computer does create log files and
keeps some error messages and crash files, among others, of minor to
major issues along with routine files of the normal actions of the System.
Someone experienced in how that works, and how to read the Console
utility's logs, could read through them for some clues about that matter.
An upgrade to 10.5 over the ailing 10.4 system in your computer is not
recommended at this time; because by itself, the problem may persist.
The actual upgrade at some other time, may be best performed with the
idea of making a clean fresh install from scratch with no parts of Tiger
10.4.11 in the hard drive at all. But the best paths available are open to
a knowledgeable user who knows more about the easy ways to do this.
A tech may be able to figure out what is going on, but most repair shops
won't be liable for any content on the hard disk drive; and some cures to
a larger problem may include a reinstall of the existing system, so your
old files would appear in the hard disk drive inside a "previous" system file.
Anyway, here is an Apple Support document with an outline of the path for:
    • Troubleshooting Mac OS X installation from CD or DVD:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2956
Although you may not need to reinstall 10.4 (via archive & install, then update)
to fix the issue you mention; and an upgrade to 10.5 may only add several
layers of additional difficulty, if it works, before you can use Leopard 10.5.
    Leopard would need to be updated to 10.5.8 (combo) and security updates;
among others, before you could start using it. A problem in all that, may be
the computer's hard disk drive may be too full to do all of these things; so it
would be wise to see about getting the optical drive to work then try to create
an off-computer archive of your own files. This would be better done to an
external hard disk drive capable of supporting a complete copy/clone of the
entire computer's hard drive contents; a bootable backup.
The use of a "clone utility" would facilitate making such a bootable backup.
A free-running app to do this, by the name Carbon Copy Cloner, is downloadable.
The previously mentioned utility of interest to get bits of the OS X installer to work
for you, short of having to re-install the whole OS X, would be the one by the name
Pacifist, by Charlesoft; it will run as a demo freely and completely to do the task of
extracting the correct (choosen) file from the Installer Disc and putting only the few
chosen files into the computer, in the right place; and that could fix some problems.
The Mac OS X invites user interest in maintenance and most aspects of it
are superior to other systems by decades of intended creative design. So,
if you find time to become technically interested in the upkeep of your Mac

  • Iphone not detected after snow leopard install

I just upgraded to snow leopard (and did a clean install so I deleted everything) but now iTunes isn't detecting my iPhone. When it's plugged in it charges but it doesn't show up in the iTunes sidebar. I already did the "authorize computer" thing and it didn't work
    Please help!!

I basically have the same issue... i have an iPhone 3G and a Macbook:
    - was running Leopard - ran software update
    - installed Snow Leopard
    - tried to plug in my iPhone to my Mac
    - iTunes started up and got the neverending pinwheel
    Noticed the following:
    - iPhoto sees my iPhone fine.
    - Remote app for my iPhone interfaces with iTunes fine.
Only have the "not responding" message with pinwheel after connecting my iPhone to my Mac with the USB cable. Not sure what's going on... hope the devs get a solution running soon!

  • PDF not coming back for bigger selection

    Hello all,
I need help in finding what is causing my performance problem in my template.
I had to alter an original template. I had to add stock records (coming from a separate data source) and also the formatting had to change. I added <xsl:decimal-format xdofo:ctx="begin" name="OPMAAK" decimal-separator="," grouping-separator="." NaN=" " zero-digit="0" infinity="-"/ > for this and also the correct formatting tag around each number.
After adding this, the BIP report runs twice as long and for the biggest selection (for all sales branches) I don't get a result anymore. After about 10 minutes, I get a 'Internet explorer cannot display' screen instead of my pdf
If anyone cares to check out my template, I can email it to you. I also have sample xml data for 1 sales branch (runs about 4-5 minutes on server, 63 pages in PDF format)
PS: I already looked at jvm settings, caching,... but maybe a good idea to review that as well?

Sounds like an overheating problem. You could try to reset the SMC and see if that helps, if not it probably needs to go to the shop.
Here is a link to how to reset the SMC on a new Mac
