Backlight out after dropping 3Gs on hard surface

I dropped my iPhone 3Gs the other day in my kitchen, its a pretty hard floor. I picked my phone back up and noticed instantly that i could barely see the screen; the backlight had gone out. I looked up online what the issue could be, and its either my 6r8 coil or my lcd display. I ordered the 6r8 chip since its the cheapest, if it doesnt work then i guess im going to have to order the LCD? The thing is im not sure if it is the coil, i dont see any damage to the coil and i dont see any damage to the LCD screen, so im not sure i understand which it could be. Mind you i did not drop it in any water, just a hard surface. If the 6r8 coil doesnt work what would your recommendation be? Thanks!!
Also, i noticed that my silent switch has gone out as well, i made sure everything is connected, but it still doesnt work. My main concern right now is my screen, my silent switch is what i will really look at if/when i get my screen fixed
ps. my phone is out of warranty so sending it to apple is out of the question.

As mentioned above, I dropped my Iphone 3gs into lake and it took me about two hours to fish it out. I put it in a jar of rice for over a week. It will now come on only if I plug it into the electrical oulet. It will not come on using the usb connection on the pc. It also cuts out after a short time - usually about a minute or so. Will this phone likely work correctly again without major service or should I just forget it? I have aready bought a replacement to use, but I hate to just toss it if it may work again. Also, is there anything else I can do short of taking it in to the Apple store? I suspect the cost of service will not be justified.

You are welcome. There are always suggestions of things to try, but in the end you just get frustrated and end up taking it in anyway...save yourself the trouble and visit the Apple store genius bar.

Trying to restore after getting a new hard drive. I can see the backup on the Time Capsule and on the correct date but it is Greyed out. That is it wont let me open it and restore the machine. Have tried also Migration Assistant, no luck.

At startup hold down the Command+Option/Alt+r keys until you see a globe on the screen. Then use disk utility to partition and format the drive HSF+ and then select Reinstall Mac OS X. whatever version of OS X that originally came on your system will be installed and then you can upgrade back to Mavericks.

TS2972 Home Sharing on Apple TV (2) drops out after about 2 minutes

Home Sharing on Apple TV (2) drops out after playing iTunes music and photos for about 3 minutes. iTunes says Home Sharing is on, but the only way to get it going again is to turn off Home Sharing and sign in again to Home Sharing when it will work for another 3 or 4 minutes maximum. This happens with both computers on the network. Have turned the firewall off but it makes no difference. Any suggestions please

Going to try a signal booster this all started with the TV upgrade. The only reason for the network booster is because iPhone 4 freezes in facebook once and a while. I am trying to solve this problem for my brother my system works with my airport and imac with no issues yet. All brand new.

WIFI DROPS OUT AFTER MOUNTAIN LION UPDATE

Since upgrade to mountain lion my wifi keeps dropping out after sleep i have ipad and that is ok.

Had the same problem and this worked for me:
Try deleting following two items:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.db
Make sure you take a screenshot of your current dock since deleting these files will reset your dock to default.
Now open terminal and do a sudo reboot w/ your password.
This solved the problem for me.

I resolved the issue.
The problem is indeed a permissions issue with the Adobe Application Support folder.
First, in MAC OS Lion the ~/Library/ folder is hidden by default. You must unhide it in order to proceed. (if it is already visible in your ~/User/ folder, proceed to Step 4.)
Next launch the Terminal application.
At the command line, paste the following command line: chflags nohidden ~/Library/
Go to /Users/youruserid/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Get info on the ~/Adobe folder and reset your permissions to read/write and apply to all enclosed folders

I have three suggestions for you (try them in order):
Go to Settings on your iPhone 5, General, Reset (all the way at the bottom), and try "Reset Network Settings".
Turn off your router and modem, wait about 5-10 minutes, then turn on your modem and router respectively.
Call Apple Support. Chances are they'll be able to give you the best support since they know their phone and the problems they've been called about prior to yours. Make sure you have some of your router information ready for them when the time comes.

Just got a 3rd Gen ATV and connecting through BT Infinity with a Home Hub 3 in the UK - when playing music, appears to be ok. Audio Drops Out After 30 Seconds

I have just installed Premiere Elements 12 on a new Toshiba with Intel i5 and windows 8. When I play a viedo through Elements the audio drops out after 30 seconds. When I play the same viedo through Windows audio does not drop out. I have an older HP with Intel i3 and Windows 7 running Premiere Elements 10 and I do not have any issues with the audio dropping out. This is the first time I have used this forum so I hopr I'm doing this properly. Thank you, Bob.

With a slower machine like that, it's possible you haven't given the program time to fully conform the audio and video in your file.
Clear the file from your Project Assets and re-add it to your project. Watch the progress along the bottom of the program and wait until it has completed its conforming before you start editing.

S20 Lan Network drops out after Windows 10 upgrade

Upgrade went ok and everything seems to work ok, but the network drops out after some downloads. Adapter gets disabled and cannot be enabled unless i perform a reboot. The network adapter is a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet. Installed the latest Lenovo System Update but that did not find any new drivers.

The network speed went down from approx 50 Mbps to 1.8 Mbps after the upgrade! So it is surely a network driver problem.

Apple Airport Express dropping out after song finishes.

I need some help finding out why my Airport Express sometimes drops out after a song has finished? Itunes has moved onto playing the next song but the sound is no longer playing through airtunes. If I pause and play the song it will come though the speakers again. This does not happen every time I use air turns but everynow and again.. Can anyone help me with this? I do have my Airport express set to get updates every week so Im sure I should have the latest updates.

Screen blacks out after adjusting backlight

Hi, New to Arch but have been using Linux for quite some time.
I am having a very odd problem with my laptop's backlight. After adjusting the backlight with the function keys, my screen will go black with a few random color blocks (it happens when I turn the brightness down very low, then try to turn it back up). I can't recover from this and have to restart the laptop using the power button. I had no issues with Windows, OpenSUSE, and Fedora.
Possible theory: I am thinking maybe the function key, on the other OSs, had a binding and adjust the backlight through an OS function, but with no key binding, its being passed on to some piece of hardware...but I have no clue.
This doesn't happen if I adjust it using dell_backlight or radeon_b10.
here is my backlight directory (acpi_video0 turned into dell_backlight after adding acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor to the kernel parameters)

Help! Corrupted Clip Speed after Copying to New Hard Drives

Okay. Here goes... (sorry so long)
I bought two new hard drives to replace older aging ones as a precaution (for a Feature Film)
After transfering capture scratch and sequences-- every speed altered clip (50% was now 1000%) OR the in points and out points are not being recognized and have jumped to new spots in the clip (with the corruption)
I transfered 1st half of film buy hand-- Corrupted.
I transfered 2nd half using media manager-- Corrupted.
Two different hard Drives-- two different ways of trasfering-- same problem!
(also, no matter what I do to return the clips to their orignal state-- they remain screwy!)
-The "Constant settings" won't stay Constant and keep fliping to Varible. I stretch it out, speed drops to 10%. I drag the end of clip toward head, speed increases.
Then the clip goes black!
-I deleted Render Files.
-I removed attributes.
-In Time Remap there were mysterious Keyframes that were the culpruts. I deleted but they fought being deleted.
I bought a ANOTHER Hard drive thinking the Brand I bought was not compatible with MAC (Mercury) -- Same problem with newest hard drive.
Phew!
What is Going on??????!!!!!! Can ANYONE help Me???????

I tried the new sequence thing. Didn't work.
Regarding the FCPrescue program you speak of. I downloaded a similar one called FCPattic-- there are no instructions for either program on how they work... I have no idea what it did, but I pushed the backup button, but I don't know what was supposed to happen or where to retrieve any back up info...(?)

2. "final cut preferences" (which has a red and black icon)
I don't know which is the one I should trash?
