Backs up every time

I have the original iphone and even after all the new updates my phone still takes at least 30 min simetimes an hour to sync, backs up every time! anyone know what the problem might be???

The iPhone syncs your music, videos, and applications to your iTunes library. There's no need to backup since all the data is in the iTunes library. Other data, such as mail settings, SMS messages, Bluetooth devices, visual voicemail, personalized settings are backed up.

Hi vickkjayy11 and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
Just to be clear, we are a peer to peer support community and have nothing official to do with Apple.
So to your problem, when you say:
"I reset my macbook pro a few days ago"
What exactly happened? Did you have a Time Machine backup?
    Read this:
OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support
It would help to know the exact model (size and year) and which OS you're using.

  • IPhone backing up every time I sync!

Does anyone know why my iPhone is backing up every time I sync with iTunes? It wouldn't be that big of a deal, if it didn't take 25 minutes! I think I should've just waited until 2.1 was released!!!

It's supposed to back up every time you sync. The problem is that with the 1st gen iPhone (and iTunes 7.6,) the back up took all of 1-2 seconds, and you really couldn't even notice it happened. Now, it's taking minutes.
However, Apple has acknowledged the problem, and it's a problem with iTunes 7.7, not the iPhone, so let's all pray they take care of this fast!

  • What's with the constant "backing up" every time I synch?

Every time I synch my iPad I get the "backing up" that takes from as little as 20 minutes to as long as 3 hours. I am serious - EVERY TIME I hook it up, it "backs up" - and then, after all that, tells me it can't save the backup on my computer.
I can't find an option to turn this off. Any advice? Thanks.

    HI,
Under the Summary tab in iTunes with your iPad connected to your computer, make sure there is enough storage space.
Make sure there is enough free space on your PC. Instructions here.
    http://www.askdavetaylor.com/checkfree_space_on_windowsxp.html
And try Disk Cleanup. Start / Programs / Accessories / System Files / Disk Cleanup
After you run Disk Cleanup, restart your computer and your iPad. Try backing up again.

  • How do I stop my iPod touch from backing up every time I connect

    Hello all,
Every time I connect my ipod to my mac book it does a back up, which can take quite some time if I haven't connected it for a while. It has only been doing this since I upgraded to 2.0. Is it necessary? can I back it up manually? How do I stop it?
    Thanx,
    JBN

During the backup process, you should be able to click on the little X at the top of iTunes, where it shows the backup process progression. This will stop the backup. From there, your sync will continue.
However, without a good/recent backup, if you had to restore your iPod, you would lose all of the settings/notes/etc that had been changed or created since your last full backup. You will want to let the backup complete every so often to make sure that you have a good one on hand that you can use if you need it.

  • Time machine starts making new back up every time, and previous back up disappears. Mac Book Pro and all newest equipment and OS. What should I do?

System seems to have done it since beginning (actually first time the day that I moved to Mountain Lion) but it is now every other day. This defeats the purpose of having a back up. I did see more comments on this but no silutions. No red i displayed in time machine. Has Apple fooled me with this time capsule or is it just broken and they should replace it?

Check Time Machine Troubleshooting to see if it offers you any help.

  • I have to sign out and sign back in EVERY time on my new computer

I had the brilliant idea of using iTunes match and cloud to transfer my library from one computer to another, but my new computer does not want to stay signed in.  Everytime I open iTunes it asks me to sign in to check for downloads.  My old computer I did not need to do that, it just did on its own.  When I go to download songs from the cloud, they are there, but greyed out.  The only way I can get them active is to sign out, sign back in, turn on match, register the machine (AGAIN) and then they area active.  I don't get it.  No error messages, just not working.
Anybody know how I can keep everything active?

I found an answer after digging through other threads on this:
Okay, I got mine working, I think...no more lightning bolt through my iTunes Match icon on the Music folder (under library), and now I can update my Match library without issue.  Now, I'm not sure exactly what step made it work but, most of all, for Windows 7 users, run iTunes with elevated privileges (which I think is the real trick):
Launch iTunes as an admin (right click on your iTunes icon and click "Run as administrator."
When iTunes loads, sign out, then sign back in.
    a) At this point, upon signing back in, my Match icon was gone from the Music folder, and it was looking for me to turn on Match again.
De-authorize the computer, then authorize again.
Now turn Match back on (the process seems like a quick check, and did not take as long as the first Match scan).
After iTunes Match is complete again, I was able to close iTunes open again with "Run as administrator," and my match was all good.
Close iTunes and reopen without "Run as administrator" and it's still good, updates Match with no issues.
Now, you might be able to skip 5 and just run without elevated privileges, but I figured just in case iTunes needed to write to a protected folder one last time upon launch.  Hope this helps any Windows users out there, not sure if the Mac OS users having issues have something similar to elevated permissions when running an app, but I would try that.

  • How do I change the volume for a single midi instrument in GarageBand 10? Every time I move the volume, it moves back!

How do I change the volume for a single midi instrument in GarageBand 10? Every time I move the volume, it moves back!

Every time I move the volume, it moves back!
Check, if you have a volume automation set on the software instrument track.
If the track volume automation curve is enabled, the volume slider for the track will move with the automation curve.
Click the automation curves disclosure triangle in the track header and disable the volume automation.

  • Time Capsule backs up 6-12 gigabytes every time?

My Time Capsule is working perfectly, but i'm a bit anoyed that it backs up huge amounts of data every time.
I've set it to do backup once every 12 hours. And when it runs, it often has 12GB to backup - and i do not add 12gigs to my imac every 12 hours?
What could be the reason for this, and how to i solve it?
Do yours backup this amount of data every time ?

What I would do to find out what's happening (given there's no log, which to me is a problem) is Open Time Machine (not the prefs) type an "a" into the find dialog, then hit the "+" sign on the right size. Search for files larger than 800Mb to see what big files are getting backed up every time. Perhaps you can exclude them?
If they are a "sparseimage" disk file, consider converting that disk image to a sparsebundle instead. That way Time Machine will only back up the bands that have changed rather than the whole disk.
Parallels/VMWare Machines are also notorious space eaters. Consider excluding them as well (of course, after figuring out an alternate backup strategy for their data).

  • The first run page keeps opening every time I open my home page, how do I turn it off?

When I first downloaded FF 4 on my netbook I got the first run, welcome to FF 4 screen. As usual. But it keeps coming back. Every time I open FF it opens the welcome screen in the first tab and in the second tab is my home screen.
If FF is already open and I want to open my home screen in another tab, it simultaneously the welcome screen in one tab and my home screen in another.
I will not upgrade the rest of my machines to either FF4 or 5 until this is fixed.

A couple of possible causes, you have multiple home pages set, or the preferences file can not be updated. For details on both of those, see [[Firefox has just updated tab shows each time you start Firefox]].

iTunes Match asks me to sign out and sign in again every time I attempt to update.  How do you fix this problem?

My problem is it asks me to sign out and back in every time I try to update ITunes Match. And it won't let you add a new song to a playlist unless it's updated on Match. So every time I add a song I have to sign out and back in just to put it on a playlist.  I saw this issue on the internet but no solution.
Very sorry I did iTunes Match.  Shuffled my playlists without asking and this additional extra work just to add a song to a playlist.  Not impressed - at all.
I do thank you for trying.  Surprised Apple doesn't monitor this stuff and step in and provide a fix.  Left to our own devices.  Thanks Apple!

  • Is my iPhoto lib completelybacked every time I add a picture?

    Hi -
It appears that my 22 GB iPhoto is completely backed up every time I make a modification. Is this correct? I am eating through my backup space pretty quickly this way.

no, it's not. only changed files should be backed up anew and this should take very little extra space.
why do you think it's iphoto that's being backed up from scratch? Use this utility to see what exactly is being backed up.

  • Huge TC backup every time?

    Hi.
I'm running af TC 500GB on my network and only have my MBA setup with time machine doing regular backups. But every time it backs up, it's backing up 4,1 GB! That takes a while...
I can't figure out why, I practically only use my MBA for Safari, Word, Powerpoint and other office-applications. I have a lot of pictures lying on the mac, but I don't access and change them every hour.
Does anybody have any idea why so much is being backed up and is there any way to minimize this?
    Thanks.

Figured out why: My WM Fusion Windows page-file was being completly backed up every time I had used Windows...
Have now unselected that file in Time Machine and the backup size dropped to 10 MB...

  • Backup every time?

since downloading iTunes 7.7 and the software update 2.0, my iPhone does a Full back-up every time i dock it. is this necessary, since everything on it is on my mac anyway?
and can i switch off this auto backup?

Paul, interesting issue.... are you downloading iphone apps on the phone? it will back them up everytime you sync. And my first couple times were slow, most likely because of web traffic.
If that's not the case... try shutting down the iphone (hold Sleep and home button for 5 seconds, swipe at prompt to shut off).
Try restarting your mac or pc,
    this should help...

I have a 500GB external hard drive and only 120GB Macbook. It worked fine before the latest Maverick's update. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be it has created an entirely new backup of your drive when you upgraded to Mavericks.
