Backspace deletes blank spaces

I notice a strange and irritating behaviour in Pages 1.7.2, Numbers 1.7.3 and Keynote 1.7.2:
If I delete characters with backspace and delete the last character of a word, that space before the character is deleted as well.
Example:
Text: "hello wo". Press Backspace, text: "hello w". Press backspace again, text: "hello" ('w' and space deleted in one step).
if you use the onscreen keyboard, that might help. If you use an external bluetooth keyboard, the deletion of the space is pretty annoing. The behaviour is pretty new. Can it be switched off?
Please help. I am writing a novel on my iPad and *hate* to insert the missing blank again and again.

P.S.: In other apps (such as iCal, Mail etc.) backspace works normal. It must be an iWork-thing

My ID version is CS6 for my Mac OS X 10.8.4. In a multi-column story, one column might run all the way to the bottom of the text box, while the next is four lines short and the next is two lines short. Screen shots are provided

does anyboady know how to write a routine in the transfer rule in order to delete ending blank spaces from value of Infoobject 'ORDTEXT'. E.g. value: 'ABM '? After routine, the result should be 'ABM'.

Deleting 'ending blank spaces' from a character type field (ie info-object or text) in SAP is not meaningful. For all usage, a char type field of length 8 having value 'ABM ' is same as 'ABM'.

For all usage, a char type field of length 8 having value 'ABM_____' is same as 'ABM', take the underscore character (_) in the first string as a placeholder for space character.

Deleting blank spaces in internal table

Hi Gurus,
I want to delete the empty spaces of a particular field in internal table.I used condense and shift statements but didnt work because the work area value is already condensed.I am not sure why the internal table field is having so much of empty spaces to its left.It's a character field with length 60.

The problem is not with the work area.
Say if I have a value apple in the work area wa, (wa - 'apple').
It doesnt have any leading sapces to the left.
But when I am appending it to the internal table it gets posted at the last say like this (it - '                                       apple'.
It occupies the last five characters.
Not sure how to resolve this.

How do I delete blank space at end of file?

I am absolutely new at this and am poking around without getting an answer to what seems like a simple question. I imported a 45-second MIDI file created in Finale without a problem, but after the "block" numbered 36 along the top of the Arrange window there are a seemingly endless number of blank "blocks" and I cannot figure out how to delete them. I don't seem to be able to select them because there isn't any audio there. What am I missing?

If it is lots of separate regions....
Why don't you simply delete the extra regions... and/or set total number of bars you want in the project using the Project End setting in the Display Area

Display Area
This area of the Transport bar primarily informs you of the playhead and locator positions, but can also be used to navigate through the project.
Positions (SMPTE/Bar): The top row indicates the current position of the playhead in SMPTE format (hours : minutes : seconds : frames), the bottom row in bars, beats, divisions, and ticks.
Locators (Left/Right): The top row indicates the left locator position, the bottom row the right locator position. Locators are used to define a particular section of the project for a number of recording or playback tasks. You can display locators in the Transport bar in terms of Bar or Time, by Control-clicking (or right-clicking) the display area and turning on/off the Display Locators as Time option. In Transport views which are part of Arrange windows, this option should automatically follow the Ruler mode.
Sample Rate or Punch Locators: The display shows the current project sample rate, or punch recording in/out locators (when punch recording mode is enabled). As with other Transport bar display fields, you can set the sample rate or punch locators with the mouse or via direct numerical entry.
Varispeed: The Varispeed display allows you to speed up or slow down a project between –50% and +100% (which equals between 50% and 200% of the original tempo). The top row indicates the Varispeed mode (Speed Only, Varispeed, Varispeed and MIDI), the bottom row the Varispeed value and unit.
Tempo/Project End: The Tempo display indicates the current playback or recording speed. The Project End display shows the total number of bars. It behaves as stop playback/recording marker for the project.
Signature/Division: The (Time) Signature display indicates the current playback or recording time signature in a standard musical format; 4/4, 5/4, and so on. The Division display determines the current display (and editing) resolution. A value of /16 means that a 4/4 bar is divided into 16 sub-sections, or 4 sub beats for each beat in the bar.
MIDI Activity (In/Out): The display indicates incoming and outgoing MIDI data. The MIDI In display (top) will show chord names for incoming MIDI note data.
Load Meters (CPU/HD): Click this display to show CPU load and hard disk throughput load meters. Double-click to open the load meters as a separate window. Alternatively, you can choose Options > Audio > System Performance from the main menu bar (or use the Open System Performance key command, default assignment: Option-X).

Deleting an empty blank space?

I've used the milano template on pages to create my CV, however the text at the top (i think is classed as a header) is seperated from the main text by a blank space which i can't seem to delete... I've tryed pressing backspace in case there's any spaces or "returns" there, that didn't work. I tried to change paragraph spacing and that didn't work, unless i'm doing it wrong. Using "show invisibles" and "show layout" i can't see anything that's deletable! Help!
I've attached a picture, which is obviously blurred out as it has nearly all my contact details... Just so you can see what i'm talking about. As i said before, the pages has "show invisibles" and "show layout" on from the "view" drop down list.

It is a subtle use of the Layout function. I had to eliminate all other possibilities first.
Apple is not making this easy or obvious for what I imagine must be the target market, people who don't know layout.

I recently deleted a partition on my mac that was intended to install windows. Now it is just blank space. I attempt to resize my Macintosh HD partition to cover entire hard drive space and hit apply but nothing happens (disk utility). Any ideas?

I have a few problems...
I wanted to make a partition to install windows, I tried to use bootcamp 5 where it wanted to partition and install windows at the same time. I do not have a cd of windows but instead had it on a flash drive. Bootcamp couldn't find it. Instead I was reading forums and found that there was another way to install windows by partioning your harddrive using the disk utility, downloading the bootcamp drivers, and installing rEFIt (an app that when starting the compouter a menu would come up to boot windows from the flashdrive). I try that and the windows install screen gets me to the point where I pick a partition. I attempt to pick the partitioned drive but a message comes up telling me that "this is of the GPT partition style" and windows cannot be installed on the drive.
So now I went back to disk utility and deleted the partition but there is still blank space. I wanted to retry and install windows through bootcamp (somehow) but a message comes up that there cannot be any partitions or that a partition must be created using bootcamp. SO i keep trying to drag the partition over the blank space and hit apply but nothing happens.
By the way I was trying to install windows 8 pro, some forums would say that you cant install win8 however I found others that said you could. How do I fix my partition and how do I use bootcamp to install windows (preferrably 8)?

Csound1 What Ive been trying to explain is that I have been running bootcamp, I open the app where the first screen is the introduction, i hit continue, the first time I select "download the latest windows support software fromm Apple" then I return and instead select "Install Windows 7." Then hit continue. The third screen is where I "Create a Partition for Windows" I set Windows to 80 gigs then hit INSTALL. As stated before Bootcamp cannot find the install drivers saying "The installer disc could not be found." My windows software is on a USB drive not a disc, I tried using a virtual disc reader to make it appear that the windows software was running on a disc, still no luck. What I would like to know is how to install windows on bootcamp.

Issues in exporting SSRS report to PDF format in Report Server - Blank spaces are deleted

Hi Gurus,
I have a problem in exporting SSRS report to PDF format. It deletes all the blank spaces when I use bullet in a Text box and try to export to PDF formt in Report Server . For example
• Project submitted to the TRC
Result in PDF format:
• ProjectsubmittedtotheTRC
I also noted that when I try to export to PDF in Visual Stuio 2005 (Business Intelligence development studio), it does not delete any blank spaces and shows the correct aligned Data in PDF format.
Please help me as it is frustrating a lot

Was there ever a solution found for this as i have the same issue.
When bullet point is entered in a field all the spaces are removed when exported to PDF
i tried exporting to excel and it does not remove spaces, however this is no use to me as it needs to be in PDF
Using IE 7 (Don't think the browser has anything to do with it as this happened via a subscription)
Didn't know SSRS had specific Service Packs, i though they came as patches to SQL Server (SQL Server is on Service Pack 3)
This should be easy to replicate all you need to do is copy text containing a bullet point into a sql server database field and then add this field to a report export to pdf and the spaces are gone

Deleted audio segment leaves blank space that I can't remove

I had a 5 min song and after adding pictures for a slide show, I found I only needed 2:30 of the audio clip so I split it at the end and deleted the unwanted end segment of the song. However, there is now a blank space for 2:30 left!
I went to clip mode like some suggested in previous similar questions, but there is "no black clip" to select and delete.
How can I "shrink" or reduce the original movie length now that I've shortened it by removing the end part of the audio?

I have experienced the same thing. It used to be thought that a stray audio clip had relocated to further out on the audio track, but I never found one. Usually, the movie reverted back to end where the 'good' audio or video clip ended.
However, I highly endorse what Bengt recommended re: exporting your movie to Full Quality QuickTime.
I do that and then put the quicktime movie into a new iMovie project and check the end of it. Sometimes there will be several seconds of 'snow' as seen on tv in the old days when stations went off the air at 1am. You can cut out this excess and have your movie end where it is supposed to. Just use this qt version to upload or import into iDVD.

Bunch of blank spaces before my contacts--can't delete

After I added all of my contacts the first time they disappeared for some reason... then I resynched with google but somehow the blank spaces are all still there...and I have to scroll through them all before I can get to my contacts. I can't delete them. Thanks for your help.

So you are seeing blank contacts, not just blank spaces IN several contacts?
Try a simple reboot: With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Why can't you delete them? No options to do delete?
Can you delete them from your google web page?

Blank Space (Line) Everytime I delete a track in my Itunes Library

Hi Guys
Im currently having an annoying problem with Itunes. Its been happening for a while but it didnt bother me too much.
Everytime I delete a track from my library, it leaves a blank space where the track was and you cant navigate past it if skipping tracks by pressing left/right on the keyboard...all it does is return my library back to the top/bottom depending on which way you press to skip.
Ive seen that some other people have had this problem but no solution has been posted. Anyone got any ideas?

The reason it does this? It's a bug in itunes 9. Folks never saw it in previous versions.
A solution will have to come from Apple programmers after they figure out how to fix it.
There are several previous threads about it. The more people who report it, the better chances of it getting fixed. Random bugs like this are the most difficult to fix. If anyone can get it to happen consistently, even better chances of it getting fixed.
I've reported it to apple, and so have a few other folks. The only way to counter it is, change views.

How do I delete the blank space at the beginning or end of a project?

I constantly end up with blank space at the beginning or end of a project - how do I remove it? I get this ALL the time and I jsut can't get rid of it. Obviously I want my project to start at 0.00 not at 1.xx.

That's not a project. You're inside an multicam angle editor. You need to edit the multicam clip into a project. That's where you edit it.

After making a live recording, how does one delete the blank space at the end?

Do you want:
A) Remove the blank space in your GarageBand Project
B) Remove the silence in the actual audio file
Just make sure that you are aware of the difference between an Audio Region and an Audio File
About A)
Just resize the right border of the Audio Region. The Audio Region is just a reference to the actual Audio File on your drive. This solution is just for editing your Project it won't get rid of any silence int he actual Audio File
About B)
You cannot do that in GarageBand itself. GarageBand only allows editing of the Audio Region (non-destructive editing) not the actual Audio File (destructive editing). A quick way to do it is open the file in QuickTime, crop it and save it.

How do I clear the blank space between content and footer?

In the process of revising a Muse website, I deleted some content from one of the pages and revised the content that remained on the page. Now I have a blank area between the bottom of the revised content and the top of the footer, and I can't seem to get rid of the blank space. It doesn't appear that there are any text blocks or other images in that area, so I can't find any objects to delete. Help?

Before I sent this post, I decided to try creating a new page, then copy/paste the content onto the new page, and save the Muse site under a different name. Lo and behold, the page (and the site) works like it should...without any extra space above the footer on that page. It would appear that something went astray when I deleted content on that page. I can use the new page to get the site working properly, but decided to go ahead and send this post so that you can look at the page code and perhaps see what is wrong that is causing the blank space...in case I ever run into this again.

There is a graphic at the bottom of the content area of the Retreats page that's been cropped to a size of zero width and 2 pixels in width.
Unfortunately, there's a bug with pointer tool drag selection (aka marque selection) that prevents it from selecting an item that has zero width or zero height. Therefore the easiest way to select this item to delete it is to select any other item on the page, then hit the tab key repeatedly to cycle through every item on the page. When you get to this item you should see a little pile of selection handles at the left edge of the third column and right at the bottom of the content area. The width and height will display as zero and 2. Delete this item and the page will resize to fit the remaining content.

When you click these, do they open a song?
Also, you can try the swipe-to-delete method that works on normal songs, they may simply be songs with no id3 tags so they show up blank.
Correction: Just remembered, in 5.1.1 (not sure about 6.x), songs with no id3 tags show the filename. So I'm not sure why it's blank.
