Backspace safari nightmare

On my iPad 2-3G, when I am in Safari, on a google blogg page, I want to leave a comment.
If I make a mistake, use backspace and then the keyboard (virtual keyboard) breaks. Nothing else works.
I Have to close safari and reopen and pray I don't make mistake again.
What am I doing wrong?  I am NOT having trouble on this page using the backspace and correcting..is it just blogspot.com?  Driving me crazy.

I've had issues with Safari doing similar things as well. Try refreshing the page instead of closing all the way out of Safari and see if that helps.

  • Safari - won't open youtube or google!!

    Hi there,
i'm having bad safari nightmares at the moment: I can't download either youtube or google.com! All other sites i've tried to visit seem to be fine - and another machine I have next to this one downloads anything. I've reinstalled Safari, run the disk utility /repair permission, and restarted the machine. Nothing. Any ideas? Or should I empty the free space onto hard drive and reinstall the OS?
    Many thanks for your help.

    I hope guessing is allowed.
Your behind a proxy server -- disable it.
You running a third-party firewall -- disable it.
Hawaiian_Starman posts the following and it work for many people.
Quit Safari and add DNS server numbers to your System Preferences ->Network panel.
Select your type of connection and then select Advanced.
In the DNS servers panel enter 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 if you live in the US and click Apply.
Outside the US - use 208.67.222.220 and 208.67.220.222 and click Apply.
Launch Safari and from the Safari menu select Empty Cache - try the url's again.
    Good luck,
    Tom

  • Anyway to Disable Backspace as a shortcut for going back?

Sometimes, when posting on a forum like this ... or really anywhere on the web, if I accidently leave a text field (after spending way too much time writing something really witty of course) or accidently hit backspace, Safari 5.03 goes back. I know it's my fault for screwing up, but losing my work over a stupid mistake really *****. Anyway a cluts like me can disable BACKSPACE as a short cut for going back in Safari??? It's driving me nuts, but I don't really want to use IE or any other browser.

yes (i should have been clearer), with that option set hitting backspace puts you back in a text field (if there is one) instead of going back one page. it should work properly once you've reloaded any pre-existing pages but do let me know if there are cases* where it doesn't.
*it obviously doesn't work where safari extensions are disabled, like on extensions.apple.com.

  • Safari 3 Damaged all my Safari 2 and my Installer icon, so.........Thanks!

    Hi all
Thanks for the support from all of you regarding my Safari nightmare.
To make to long story short for those who missed to whole action is... that I have downloaded the new Safari 3 Beta to my new Mac Book Pro which was working perfectly fine until my download stopped in about 40% and froze for some reason.
Now what I did I erased the new half downloaded version thinking that is bugged not knowing that if I used the uninstall the 3 Beta version that brings back my old Safari.
Well we have tried to do everything else like Download new Safari from privet websites, Disk Utilities,Repairs etc..... nothing so far.
Well anyway My Old Safari was erased and so some other important features like install manager, which I can't open any install software package (well I can't use the "Optional Installments" or "Install Only Software Bundles" or whatever is called on CD Install software), so the only solution I have know is "Archive and Install".
Take a guest now how many applications I have to restore to come back to my original settings.
How many Musical Softwares with their own packages sounds/files loops etc.
How many audio files i had on the "PREVIOUS SYSTEM" now as you know, and all this because of.....don't wanna say the word "Safari 3 Beta".
Well Mac you should invented early that TIME MACHINE in Tiger.
    Regards Ret
Mac Book Pro! 3 GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Your troubles were primarily caused by two big mistakes:
1, You did not read the read-me file that came with the downloaded installer.
    2. You interrupted an installation before it has completed.

  • Update to IOS 6 has been a nightmare. Facebook would allow me to save pictures unless I granted access to my foto album. Does this mean my pictures are going be planted all over the web? The safari keeps crashing and loading is slow.

update to IOS 6 has been a nightmare. Facebook would allow me to save pictures unless I granted access to my foto album. Does this mean my pictures are going be planted all over the web? The safari keeps crashing and loading is slow. Most infuriating is that YouTube was deleted from my entertainment apps and I now have to pay for it if I want it back!! This is a bloody disgrace.

    Back up all data.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

  • Can´t use backspace in Safari for deleting text!?!

In Safari i cant seem to be able to delete entrys with the backspace button.
I can only delete text when using shift+backspace.
    Anyone experincing the same???
Backspace works perfectly in Firefox and any other programme. Im using a MBA ultimo 2010.

Try deleting the cache associated with Safari ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy/paste:    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Click Go then move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Safari 3 backspace goes back space does to bottom of the page

when im in a text input box such as google search and i say for example make a mistake, but when i hit delete (backspace) to delete the mistake it goes back like when you hit the back button in the browser. can someone please help me fix this. also when i hit the spacebar it sometimes goes to the bottom on the page. I would be very grateful if anyone could help me.
These things only happen on certain pages, right now while im typing this its not happening, but on google, certain forums, it happens

    Hi,
When I hit the space bar on any webpage it jumps to the bottom of the page
Just to be clear, are you editing text on a page, or just viewing the page?
If just viewing the page, is it going to the very last page in a multipage site, or down 1 page at a time. One page at a time is expected behaviour. Most browsers do this.
If you are editing text, check that you don't have some incompatible Safari helper applications installed. Go to these 2 locations and move anything present in them onto your Desktop to deactivate them:
    /Users/YourUsername/Library/Input Managers/
    /Library/Input Managers/
Restart Safari to pick up the change. If it works now, you can try moving the items back one by one until you find the culprit.

  • Flash Nightmares on Safari. . .Help!

This all started rather simple. . . I visit a site of a client of mine that has a flash video that was not working on my Safari but did work on Firefox. I also had a SIMBL error come up every time I opened Safari which started I'm guessing either when I upgraded to Safari 3 or when I installed Adobe CS3 Web Design. I figured it was all related.
So it was suggested I try to reinstall the latest Flash Player. I got the "Access Denied Error. . . You do not have enough access privileges for this installation". Went to Adobe. It said to uninstall Flash, Repair disk permissions, restart and install Flash Player. I did all that and again I got the same Access Denied Error. But now when I go to any site that has Flash, I get "Safari cannot find the internet plug in - "The page “BlahBlah” has content of MIME type “application/x-shockwave-flash”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type."
I am now Flashless both on Safari and Firefox which is not good because I design flash into web sites and can't test them.
I don't have time for this mess! Monday is the first day of my Nightmare week. That would make this a nightmare in a nightmare. . . HELP!!!

While Starman does his midnight surfing (he probably calls it sleep), allow me to drop in with my 2 cents' worth!
Despite the fact that you seemingly don't actually have Flash installed, as evidenced by those two files not being found (and they should be in the Internet Plugins Folder on your main hard drive, not in the one in your home account), try this:
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.)
After installation you should repair permissions and restart.

  • Safari Mavericks often will not backspace or backpage?

Safari Mavericks often will not backspace or backpage?

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by logging out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer ones.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update.

  • Upgraded to Yosemite It's a nightmare!!  Itunes and Safari will not open Iphoto does not exist and the list goes on!!

I've spent all day trying to fix all the problems I'm encountered after updating to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro today.  It's been a waste of a day.  Nothing I have researched has helped.  I wish I never updated.  What is ironic that most of the things that do not work or Apple i products.  I don't understand cloud but have a feeling this is the cause of most of the problems.
After update my computer prompted me to say cannot connect to Icloud Drive (What I don't understand I cloud and didn't know I had an Icloud drive).
Itunes will not open at all and it does not even try to open(I've downloaded it again to no avail).
Iphoto has a Circle slash mark through it so it's not even avaliable.
Safari will not open just like Itunes.
Icloud in preferences just keeps spinning like it's looking for Icloud drive. (Even though I don't use this I feel it is the problem)
So I have no access to my music, my photos  cannot get on the internet with Safari Browser.
I'm afraid of what else probably doesn't work but I've been so consumed with the top three I haven't got to really explore the rest of all the apps.
My main concern at the moment are my pictures and my music.
Please Help, Thank you so much!!

iPhoto is still in your Applications folder. Your iPhoto Library is still where it was.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion or Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Now, download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.

  • Safari optimization in the wake of this AT&T plan nightmare

I'm in a remote cabin and am stuck with EDGE so I've really noticed Safari's lack of caching. Anytime I open new tabs and then go back I have to wait for a re-render as all the data is downloaded again. It may not be as noticeable on 3G but the data still adds up especially for those that do lots of browsing. As far as I can tell Safari only holds maybe two or three tabs in cache, less if you hop over to another app. By contrast iCabMobile seems to do a MUCH better job as it seems to save an archive of each page. I'm not exactly certain how they it works but I can load up 7-8 tabs and the reload is nearly instant. If the guy (I think it's just one guy) doing iCab can do this I'd think Apple could.
I've got a little hope that Apple might fight to keep their "deal" with AT&T and think they should, especially for iPad users. I don't know what Apple can do or if they'll make the effort to defend the iPad unlimited data but regardless, I hope they'll do something to inprove the Safari user experience. Saving data bandwidth is all the more important if we end up being stuck with these new caps. I'd encourage folks to give Apple some feedback on this.

I have been using the "atomic browser" for more than a month now. It not only uses real tabs, but allows background loading of tabs, and the ability to turn off images so that you just get text and the pages load alot faster as well as saving bandwidth. I still had more than 20Mb left last month on a 250 plan.

  • Safari (web) Font Display NIGHTMARE     %= P

This call for "HEEEEELP" might be better placed into the Support section for "Fonts" but, here goes...
Safari (as well as all other browsers i have, but dont often use, here on my G4 laptop) started, just this morning, showing the nuttiest font for portions of each and (darn near) every web page i browes to.
I hope i can post the screen-shot of it here to this forum but dont know if i can. Perhaps it doesn't matter. Needless to say i can OVER-ride it by choosing, if prefs, to force my own font choices to overide those of each website i visit but that's no fix, no fun, and no solution for what i am suffereing here.
    Please help!
    Thanks
    David
    [email protected]
PS: my suspicion is that it has to do with having imported a whole bunch of fonts off and older back-up archive from my g-3 but how that = this prob i have no idea.... i mean i already had a TON of fonts (standard and "nutty") installed/running on my system. ???

Interestingly enough: this FONT problem prevades also my Apple EMAIL application....but WHICH font or what type of font is it that is now being substituted for this wacky one?!?!
Could i just use Font Book to find THIS font that is being substituted and just delete it? What are the websites and the emails "pointing" to in my system fonts to get this crazy result?...and what were they "pointing to" before such that it always looked fine?
    AAAAaaargh!
little help would be SO appreciated!
