Backup 3.1.2 - Break up FULL backups into Parts (Locally)

I use "Backup" for local and iDisk backups. I noticed when I backup to iDisk, Backup automatically breaks up a full backup into several parts. How can force Backup to break up a large backup locally? Breaking it up would make for easier copies over to my iDisk than these massive files I'm trying to move over. See below for more detail on my issue. Thanks!
--- I have a large iTunes and iPhoto libs - 5GBs and 11GBs that I would like to back up to iDisk. Backing it up directly to iDisk hasn't worked for me. What I do instead is back it up locally using "Backup", then I copy it over to iDisk. However, I'm having problems copying these large files. I'm getting Error Code 0 when trying to move them.

Sorry for short novel I am writing.  I just wanted to cover as much backround as possible.
So, here it goes.  I backed up my iphone 4 after renting a movie.  The movie only played the starting credits before I was called on for daddy duty.  A few days later the movie would not play, so I restored my phone from my backup.  The movie would still would not play so itunes support refunded my purchase and ended my viewing privileges for that rental after verifying that I had not viewed the movie.  I then had a problem with my contacts showing up twice in the contacts list after the restore.  So I attempted another restore.  All was well at this point.  I then started having trouble with my pc and decided to copy the internal drive to an external source.  A week later I had a system failure and did a factory restore on my computer.  I re-installed itunes and tried to copy and paste the old backup into the new itunes.  Now itunes just flat out does not see the backup file (I failed to mention that I did a factory reset on the iphone after the last backup, hopping to start fresh).  Tech support had me uninstall and re-install itunes and then copy and paste the old backup into the newly installed itunes with no luck.  The files are all there, but itunes just doesn't see them (itunes says the device has not been backed up to the cloud or to the local machine).  We then tried backing up the factory restored iphone and replacing that restore file with one of my old backups on the external drive.  Ok, this is where it gets weird.  We replaced the guts of the folder but left the folder itself so itunes would continue to recognize the new backup folder with the old files.  Whoohoo, itunes now see's a backup folder full of old files, or so we thought.  The new files were deleted using shift delete so they would be gone for good and not mix with any files or folders.  When I restore my phone, it restores the files that were deleted from the restore file (pause here for a moment and imagine the stupid look on the face of tech support and I while we silently wonder how files that were permanently deleted were restored).  This left tech support and I both scratching our heads.  My service issue was escalated to the next level.  I waited for the phone call the next day that was scheduled at 10am to my wife's phone, but the call never came through.  As usual, apple disappoints again.  I just bought an iphone 5s and still have the iphone 4, and am looking for a solution to retrieve my contacts and restore to the 4 or 5s.  I am guessing that files in other folders must be associated with the iphone backup in order for itunes to retrieve the files.  Any ideas or support in retrieving my contacts would be greatly appreciated.

  • Accidentally deleted Time Machine backups into Trash...

I messed up big time -- I moved my Time Machine backups into Trash from Finder.  I've looked around online and it seems like I've really screwed myself over.  I can't reformat/erase the disk because I have about 1.4 TB of other material on it and I don't have any other disk big enough to temporarily hold all these files.  Is there any way to either restore or delete the backups without harming the rest of the files on the disk?

  • RMAN backup into multiple locations

    Hi All,
Our database size is 1.4 TB. I am planning to schedule RMAN full backu. But i do not have mount point of size 1.4 TB. We have mount point /rmanbkp1 of size 1200GB and /rmanbkp2 of size 200GB. How can i distribute RMAN backup to these two filesystems.
Can i take tablespace level backups..?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks
    Sandeep Vadlamudi

    Hello;
First of all 1200GB, might be enough since you probably are not using all the blocks in the 1.4 TB and will compress you will also lose less.
Can i take tablespace level backups..?
Yes but the value is limited. You cannot for example recover a dropped tablespace.
Test a backup first and get an idea of how much space you really need.
Also once you have a backup how do you free space for the next backup?
You could use the FORMAT command to backup the database to one location and the Archive to the other. 200 GB is not much space.

  • Are Virtual Copies saved in Backups? How do I insert a backup into an existing catalog?

Are Virtual Copies saved in Backups? How do I insert a backup into an existing catalog
I deleted a tif image file that I didn't intend to, which had several LR virtual copies created from it. The virtual copies had a lot of important history that document my print preparation edits. Are these virtual copies saved in the LR backups?
If so, how can I insert them into the catalog I am using? I have made a lot of edits in the two days since my last backup and don't want to lose that history either. Do you suggest I make a current backup before retrieving files from my last backup? I know I'm supposed to go to the backup location and open the last backup, but how do I blend that with the current work from the last 2 days?
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks, Tom

    Rob,
That was exactly what I was after. However, I'm still having trouble getting the virtual copies imported. The master file was in my trash, I restored it to the original hard drive folder. Before I got your message I re- imported it to LR but of course LR came up with a new name since I was importing from and saving it to the same folder in LR. And of course no copies. This may have been a mistake, but before starting the procedure you described, I re-named the master file (it seemed that the import from backup would re-create it so I didn't want  a conflict).
Then I did what you said and used the 'Import From Another Catalog' feature. I found the virtual copies in the backup and checked them. But when the import completed, the it gave me file names  xxx/Copy1, xxx/Copy2 but there was no image or history or metadata. When I tried to find the folder containing the files, it said it couldn't be found. So I missed something in the settings. When I tried again, there was a warning saying the file(s) exists in the catalog and its settings differ. I went ahead anyway and the message I got was "No Photos in previous import"
Here's what the import from backup shows:
A box with catalog contents and all the folders and files within them, that you can check.
A New Photos section, which gives 2 file handling choices: a)add new photos to the catalog without moving them or b) don't import new photos
A Changed existing photos section with 2 replace options: a) nothing or b) Metadata and develop setting only. If you choose this you can check a box to preserve old settings as a virtual copy.
Not sure what to do. I changed the master file back to its original name, but that didn't make a difference. Suggestions? Thanks, Tom

I have had Adobe XI for about two years and My harddrive just crashed. My backups were part of the failure so I can't get it back. I purchased it from a third part supplier and it was a download. I need to find out how to get it restored. I can send screen shots of all of the drive location where the drive is still good and I can see my Adobe Acrobat pro information, but the download itself is missing. NEXT STEP?

If you are talking about Reader (you did post in the Reader forum), then just download http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise. However Reader is free not purchasable. You can download a trial then install using your serial number, which if you didn’t register or write down somewhere you will be out of luck to track down.

I'm assuming you followed a forum like Gizmodo to load the latest version of iOS 7 Beta on your device
Alot of those forums forget to mention, iTunes 11.0.5 will allow you to update to the iOS 7 Beta but your device will no longer work unless you have the developer version of iTunes as well....
I'd suggest you to research how to downgrade back to 6.1.3/4 and wait a few days for the iOS to be released,

Not unless the phone was backed up to the icloud or in iTunes at some point. I know you said it's crushed but can it be connected to a computer? If so you can still back it up in iTunes and then when the new phone comes use iTunes to restore that back up on it.

You cannot see photos backed up in iCloud on your computer.
Camera Roll photos backed up to iCloud are still in your Camera Roll on your iPhone.
You need to regularly sync the photos to your computer. (then you can see them on your computer).
    -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
then delete them from your Camera Roll.
You can sync the photos you want on your iPhone back to your iPhone using iTunes.

  • Can I plug in (restore) an RMAN tablespace backup into another DB ?

    11.2.0.3/AIX 6.1
We accidently dropped a development DB without taking the latest expdp backup of an important schema. All the objects on this schema belonged to only one tablespace and we have the RMAN backup of that tablespace. Is there anyway we could recreate that schema by restoring the tablespace backup into another database ?

    Yes.
Use the TRANSPORT TABLESPACE feature/method :
    http://oracle.su/docs/11g/backup.112/e10643/rcmsynta2021.htm
    Also check out sys.dbms_tts.transport_set_check
    RMAN> transport tablespace emp_data, emp_data2
               tablespace destination '/u01/app/oracle/oradata'
auxiliary destination '/u04/app/oracle/oradata';If you need to check your endian format use this query :
    SELECT
      PLATFORM_NAME,
      ENDIAN_FORMAT
    FROM
      V$TRANSPORTABLE_PLATFORM;http://www.fadalti.com/oracle/database/how_to_transportable_tablespaces.htm

Sorry this solution is late but I just got off of the phone with Apple support and this worked.
    Open iTunes
Connect your iPhone and keep it connected during this entire process.
In the iTunes menu at the very top (File, Edit, View) choose STORE> Sign in and sign into your iTunes account.
Once this is complete look at the upper right corner of iTunes and you will see an iPhone and Store button, cick STORE.  Now you will be in the iTunes store where you see the advertisements of the various albums, songs etc.  Look on your upper left of the window for your itunes account name and in the black band next to your iTunes account name, you will see a House icon, then Music, Movies, TV Shows etc.
Make sure the HOUSE icon is selected.
Stay on this screen in iTunes and on the lower RIGHT, you will see an area that says- QUICK LINKS.  In that area click - Purchased
After you do this you will be transported to another area of iTunes.  Here there will be a menu across the top- Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, Books are the choices.
Choose APPS and you will see the apps that you have purchased.  You will also see the apps that didn't download to your phone.
Find the apps that didn't download and click the cloud next to their name.  Doing this will download the chosen apps to the computer you are on.
Once you have downloaded the apps in question, in the upper right corner click LIBRARY.
Now you should see the button that says iPhone because your phone is still plugged in.  Click the iPhone button and then click SYNC on the lower right to sync your iPhone.
The apps you downloaded will now be on your phone.
Sorry for the long instructions but this is what works.

  • Split of full pallets into multiple cases and each cases with SU num.

I have full pallets (SU managed) lying in the hibay.
I have another storage type full case storage type with fixed bins always relplenished from hibay.
Hence, I create a replenishment transfer order to fill the full case area..
we pick the full cases by breaking a full pallet from the hibay.
and put these cases on the conveyor to shift to full case area.
Since, individual cases are shifted via conveyor an identity is required on each case. Hence each case should have an SU number on the box.
Replenishement TO confirmation (2 step) is done thro RF
Please suggest how this can be achieved.
Appericiated and will be awarded points for feasible solution.

    Please ignore my previous reply.
See my material (in many boxes on a pallet) is already moved to hibay from the goods receipt area.(Identification point won't work)
And the pallet is with SU number
e.g Material is in 10 boxes on 1 pallet with a SU number for the pallet.
Now I want to move the 10 boxes leaving the pallet to another storage type by having SU number on each box.
