Backup and database export fails

Now that I've got the database up and running, I'd like to export and/or backup the database. After relaying (I've got a German version of Oracle, so I have to guess what the original terminology might be) the job, it is listed as 'unsucccessful' in the job history. The error code is "VNI-2015 Fehler in der Berechtigungspr|fung" (meaning 'error in authorization check'). The preferred ID-data should be the correct ones.
Helpless again,
Claus.

Greg,
You need to push planning application into maintenance mode or stop planning server -- to stop users logging/entering data through forms
If you have single planning app or all apps can go down during nightly process then just stop planning server by calling stopplanning.cmd( not sure about file name)
after you nightly process is done call startplanning.cmd
If you have multiple applications and only a subset of them needs to be under maintenance mode
then you need to change few values in your application Relational repository ( its not recommended by Oracle)
LOGIN_LEVEL='0' - For all Users
LOGIN_LEVEL='2' - For Administrators
you need to change Login_level value to '2' to move app into maintenance mode..
this link will give you a better idea http://www.orahyplabs.com/2011/02/place-planning-under-maintenance-mode.html
just add above mentioned steps based on your requirement

  • Is there a note app that features encryption, folders, backup, and import/export?

    Hi friends,
I have been searching for a month for a Notetaking app for the iphone which has these attributes:
able to import/export notes from some form of text file suchas csv. I need to bring over a large number of notes from my android phone. I can perl-script and should be able to massage my data into any format requiredby any text-based importer. I would expect this feature to be based either on itunes or a proprietary sync program on a Mac.
encryption (not just a password), preferably AES-256 bit orhigher
features categories, tags, or folders (any one of these isfine)
able to backup and restore notes in encrypted form, in caseof loss of device
You would think this is a very basic set of features, but I have notbeen able to find anything on the App store that includes all of thesefeatures. If you know of any such app, please let me know.
    Thanks a lot!

There should be some utilities that might do that on macupdate.com if you search around in there. It could be done as a macro action in Photoshop, but that's an expensive solution for this. VueScan could also potentially do it, but is also not cheap.
Also, some of the utilities that come bundled with scanners may be able to do this, but only when running the scanner they came with.
Definitely the features exist on the Mac like auto-recognition of multiple images on a page, auto-rotation, auto-levels, PDF export etc. You just need to find them in the right combination in the right app.

  • System datafile block corruption - no backups and database in NOARCHIVELOG mode

    Dear All,
Database version - oracle 11.1 Enterprise
    OS - RHELinux 5.8
What are the options of recovering from physical block corruption when there are no backup available to perform block media recovery?
V$DATABASE_BLOCK_CORRUPTION reports two segments corrupted (please see attached image for details).
    1 table in system datafile - sys_fba_barrierscn
    1 index - (applicaiton index)
    What are my options?
I know there is a possibility that the database will not restart after a shutdown due to corruption in system tablespace.
Database is in noarchivelog mode. So online backups are not possible and there aren't any full backups either.
    I am thinking of below,
    1. Run dbms_repair with fix_block_corruption. - Still database startup might fail?
    2. Shutdown the database and take offline full backup with RMAN MAXCorrupt option.
    Appreciate your suggestions and advises.
    Thanks
    Stefan

    Thanks Sybrand,
Agree with your first two suggestions .
Also scheduled a expdp job tonight. (Only backup like thing they had was a expdp cron, but until today all the large tables were failing due to small undo_retention).
Yes. Flashback is not used. So hopefully it will not affect the a database restart i guess?
    Related to dbms_repair, I was referring to - http://askdba.org/weblog/2010/08/physical-corruption-ora-1578-part-3/.
    Where DBMS_REPAIR.FIX_CORRUPT_BLOCKS and DBMS_REPAIR.SKIP_CORRUPT_BLOCKS used.
Which i think will not use any redo.
    Thanks

  • EXP utillity has higher version than database - export failed !

    Hi,
I have a Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.5.0.0 database on our server and I have installed a 9i client on my PC. Now I have to use the export utility to export a specific table from our DB, but as I read from 'Oracle9i Database Utilities' book:
"The version of the Export utility must be equal to the lowest version of the source or target database".
So, I guess I need to install a 8.0.5 client on my PC (I have W2K) but nobody can give me the install CD in the company:(
I've looked on the OTN page if I can find the needed version, but I found only the 8i (8.1.7) install kit. Do you think it shall work the EXP utility if I install that ? Or can I find somewhere else the 8.0.5 install kit ?
    Thanks:
    Szilard
PS: the error message what I got when I tried to export with 9i client from 8.0.5 DB:
    C:\exp user/passw file=myexp.dmp tables=emp;
    EXP-00056: ORACLE error 2248 encountered
ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION
    EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
, but the same command line from a 9i DB worked...

Since your target server is 8.0.5, you should have the EXP utility from a 8.0.x versions. Anything higher will not work.

  • Backup and Restore image fails 3TB Advanced Format Drive Windows 7-32 SP1

Windows native backp fails to create an System Image, or a Complete PC Backup.
This occurs in Windows 7, 64 bit Professional, Windows 7, 32bit Ultimate, Windows Vista Business, 32 bit. It occurs in 6 different computers I've tried. All the backup drives are 3TB. I have tried Seagte USB and Hitachi USB drives. 4 of them. The Windows
7 Ultimate, 32bit machine has SP1. All operating systems are using the current Service Packs, and all of the MS Updates including all of the recommended harware drivers. All of the systems are using the latest BIOS, firmware and OEM drivers as well.
It looks like the issue may be causes by a deficiency in Windows related to the Advanced Format drive spec. All of the computers that qualified had the AF hotfix applied; Advanced Format Drives 512e 4k, Vista
    and 2008 - KB2470478, Windows 7, and 2008 R2 KB982018
    Error messages follow:
    The Backup Failed.
Error message: One of the backup files could not be created. (0x8078002A)
The request could not be perfomed because of an I/O error. (0x8007045D)
This deficiency seems to apply across the board to different hardware manufacturers of external hard drives.
From what I have heard, Western Digital may have a format utility that addresses this issue, but only for WD drives.
    Help.

    Hi David,
Did you have found any error message?
Check if all the files have been created on the hard drive.
Check the Volume shadow copy service in services window. To check follow these steps:
    i.
Click Start and type services.msc in the search box
    ii.
Search for the Volume shadow copy service
Make sure the start- up type is automatic.  Steps to set the services to automatic
    i.
    Search for the service
    ii.
    Right click on the service
    iii.
If the service is stopped then Start the service
    iv.
    Select Properties
    v.
And in the Start-up type select Automatic
This is the most definitive answer I can find so am taking this as the answer.

    Hi,
The error message said that current Redundancy Count was 1 but expected Redundancy Count was 2. Therefore, Database 'IT2013' does not have enough copies configured to meet the validation criteria.
Please replicate that database to another server at least. We can refer to Hinte's suggestion to
add another copy for the database 'IT2013' in the DAG then check whether the issue persists.

  • OT: Cron and database export

I am trying to backup via a full export through a cron job. I can run the job from the command line:
    sh /home/oracle/backup/back_cron.
However when I schedule it through cron, it says it cannot find the file.
/bin/sh: line 1: sh /home/oracle/backup/back_cron: no such file or directory
I'm something of a Linux newbie so if someone could point me in the right direction. TIA

Make your file executable with the following command.
    chmod 755 /home/oracle/backup/back_cron
Once that is done you can take the "sh " out of your command in the crontab. An other alternative is to provide the full path to sh. Usually sh is located in /usr/bin. If you did that your command would look like this
    "/usr/sh /home/oracle/backup/back_cron"

  • WebLogic Portal 10.3.2 EmbededLDAP Export Failed

I don't see this in other domains, just this newly created one.

You may want to go to the domain (top of tree) in the admin console, then 'security', 'embedded LDAP' and play with the 2 options of "refresh replica at startup'" and "master first". I don't have enough info on what database is referring to or your configuration but these are areas you may want to look into.

  • DAG - Backup failing on 1 DB only with error - The Microsoft Exchange Replication service VSS Writer instance ID failed with error code 80070020 when preparing for a backup of database 'DB012'

    Hi Board,
i´ve search across the board, technet and symantec sites but did not found a hint about my problem.
    we drive a 2 node DAG (Location1-Ex1-mb1
    Location2-exc1-mb1), on SP2 RU4 patchlevel with 40 Databases.
Since some time the backup of one - and only one DB - is failing with these events, logged on the Mailboxserver on which the passive DB is hosted.

The backup Application - Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 – states, this error

    Symatec suggests within http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH184095
to restart the MS Exchange Replication Service – BUT the mentioned eventID
8229 isn´t present on any of the both Mailboxservers.
The affected Database is active on Location2-Exc1-Mb1 Server and in an overall healthy state. I found during my research, that below Location2-Exc1-Mb1 Server, there are not removed shadow copies present!
This confuses me, since all Backups are normally taken from the passive copy of a Database.
So my questions to the board are:
    * Does anyone is facing similar issues?
    * Can someone explain why snapshots are present on the Mailboxserver hosting the Active Database, whilst the errors are logged on the passive one?
    -          * Does someone know the conditions, why shadows copies remain and
aren´t removed in a proper manner?
What can cause the circumstance, that only 1 DB is facing such issues?
    Any suggestion is welcome!
    BR
    Markus

    Hi Lenora,
I´ve encreases VSS / Exchange Backup Log levels to expert, before starting
those things i´ve all tried now:
    - Backup from passive DB (forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
    - Backup from active DB (forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
    - Backup from passive DB without GRT enabled (forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
    - Backup from active DB without GRT enabled(forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
    All those attempts failed.
But brought some more details - the backup against the active DB states, that there is still a backup in progress and therefore this backup is cancelled by VSS.
The Solution was, that i´ve needed to restart the Exchange Replication Service on the Mailbox Server hosting the passive DB.
Backups are working again on all DBs!
    THX for your replys.
    Best regards
    Markus

Though you have got links already for using the exp/imp , I would strongly suggest that when you mention backup/recovery, RMAN is the tool that you should be using. Exp/imp is/was never considered as a backup tool. You should read this paper to get the answer of "why rman" ?

  • Full database backup and restore

I have a doubt on the syntax for a full database backup and restore. For a single schema, the syntax for backup & restore is :-
    exp JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501/JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501 owner=JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501 STATISTICS=none
    log=JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501_exp.log grants=y constraints=Y rows=y compress=N
    file=JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501
    imp <userid/password> file=<export dump file location> fromuser=<export user name> touser=<import user name>
    grants=y constraints=Y rows=y log=<import log file location>
I hope, my question is clear.
Please, help in solving the doubt.
    regards

    hi,
thanks, for your answer. I took a export of one schema of the database. But, when I tried to import the schema to the destination database, it showed
imported with errors with the existence of functions showing. The commands used by me for export and import are as follows:-
    exp JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501/JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501 owner=JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501 STATISTICS=none log=JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501_exp.log grants=y constraints=Y rows=y compress=N file=JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501
    imp JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501/JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501 file=JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501 fromuser=JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501 touser=JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501 grants=y constraints=Y rows=y log=JISPREPCORBILLINGPRD501_imp.log
Do, we need to drop the existing schema before importing or somethinig else. Please, help.
    regards

  • Newbie questions about Database replication, "backups", and sql version

Just created my first Sql Database using the "SQL Database Management Portal". A blast but three questions come to mind:
    1. Is this DB automatically
"replicated"? (In other words,  is DB "failover" or clustering,  a feature of all newly created Azure databases?)
    2. Our on-premise model is to make a daily DB backup which is saved to a nightly tape. If needed, we can restore a two-month old database backup under a new name to compare it with the current one. Does Sql Azure support this capability
or not? Can it be requested?
    3.  Which on-premise version of sql is "Sql Azure" closest to? (2014?)
    TIA,
    edm2
P.S. My database was created using the "web" edition.

    Hi edm,
According to your description, you create a SQL Azure database in Azure platform. The replication feature is not supported by Microsoft Azure SQL database. If you want to sync the SQL Azure database and local database, you can use SQL Azure Data Sync service.
    For more information, see:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/the_cloud_pilot/archive/2011/10/24/your-first-sql-azure-data-sync-step-by-step.aspx
In addition, if you have Web or Business Edition databases, you must create your own backup strategy. You can use database copy or Import and Export services to create copies of the data and export the file to an Microsoft Azure storage account. Meanwile,
Windows Azure SQL Database provides a mechanism for automating the process for exporting a database to BACPAC files on a set interval and frequency. For more information, see:
    Schedule an Automated Export:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh335292.aspx#automate
Windows Azure SQL Database Backup and Restore strategy:
    http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/3057/windows-azure-sql-database-backup-and-restore-strategy/
Currently, Azure uses a special version of Microsoft SQL Server as its backend. It provides high availability by storing multiple copies of databases, elastic scale and rapid provisioning, when we check the version of SQL Server, it shows as follows.
Microsoft SQL Azure (RTM) - 11.0.9216.62
