Backup and Restore in Server 10.3

Hello all,
Server 10.3.9
Mac G4 Tower
In Workgroup Manager, if I highlight all the users, and select FILE > EXPORT I get the following message:

It says I should use Backup and Restore, but I can not find these functions anywhere...
I need to reinstall my server, and I want to back up the users... How can I do this?

Exchange Server 2013 backup and restoration question

Good afternoon
I am wondering if I can pick people's brains here if that's not too much trouble.
I have recently implemented an Exchange 2013 environment with 3 servers (two multi-role CAS & MBX physical machines, and one further virtual CAS server). Everything is working correctly and mail-flow is fine. My question relates to backup and restoration
procedures. I am running a single Database Availability group with the two multi-role servers members of the this group and I have one Mailbox Database on the DAG, passive on one member and active on the other. Failover has been tested and this is functioning
as expected.
The backup environment I have implemented is as follows. I have utilized a separate Microsoft DPM 2012 server that runs a nightly Bare Metal backup on both multi-role servers with a retention range of 14 days and I have protected the DAG using DPM with a
nightly full-express backup and 4 hourly syncs on one of the multi-role servers. Furthermore the Mailbox Database is protected, again nightly with a copy-backup.
I am confident I know what to do should the mailbox database become corrupted or lost or need to be restored for one reason or another (it would just be a case of restoring the backed up mailbox database using DPM to a pre-created recovery database), what
I am not quite so sure on is what I would do should I lose one or both of the multi-role CAS and MBX servers (the third CAS I am not so worried about as it is not used for incoming mail flow from the internet and we really only use it for ECP as we did not
want to expose this to the internet). I wonder what process should follow to restore my Exchange servers (I know how to perform the Bare Metal recoveries using WSB) and what configuration would be required after restoring the Bare Metal backups.
I know this is a reasonably long question but if anyone has any advice for me I would appreciate it greatly in the unlikely event something goes horribly wrong with my Exchange environment.

Yes, Most of the configuration settings are stored in AD. Mail data and personal related data are store in Mailbox DB. We just need to take consideration of these two points.

Backup and restore OS X 10.3.x server

I'm looking for suggestions for both backup and restore software/hardware for my OS X 10.3.9 server. I am running a lab of 28 iMacs running OS 9.2.2 with Mac Manager 2.2

Mel,
We use Retrospect and backup to tape and hard drive. This is for user files. If you want you could use Carbon Copy Cloner (www.bombich.com)to baxck up the server or certain user files.

I am seeking tips on how to build a replica of a Lync 2013/OCS 2007 R2 production pilot Co-existence environment in a test lab.
Lync 2013 is a standard Edition Pool
OCS 2007 R2 is an Enterprise Pool
Here is what I think...Is this feasible ? appreciate any other idea
1. Get Active Directory to Test Environment
For OCS 2007 R2 Servers
2. Use LCScmd on OCS 2007 R2 Servers to backup Global\Pool\Computer specific settings
3. Backup OCS 2007 R2 on Backend SQL Database
4. Restore data from steps 2 and 3 to equivalent servers created and prepared in test environment
For Lync 2013 SE Servers
5. Use the Lync 2013 Backup and Restore Process to bring up Lync Server 2013 into the test environment

That should do it, as you said you'll need Active Directory as well so these accounts line up with something.
It may be easiest to restore into your virtual environment using virtual snapshots or Windows backups and fixing any corruption that may have occurred by restoring what you've backed up.

My apps store will not go online with verizon network, but on wifi it works. I am on an iphone 4, verizon. I tried to do a complete, backup and restore on the phone 1 day before i noticed this problem, The backup finished but the RESTORE would fail I had an error, could not access Apple server ( some server name I cant remember).
I have plenty of space available on the iphone,

I tried doing my backup restore on the same computer as I once did a year ago. and THis time I cant do the restore on the iphone.

I do not wish to go to ios 7 at this time.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue continues, contact the carrier to troubleshoot the network connectivity issues.

Backup and Restore of DQS (Data Quality Service SQL 2012) Databases

We are currently using DPM 2010 running on Server 2008 R2 as our backup solution. We will soon be leveraging the Data Quality Services in SQL 2012 along with the Master Data Service.
In the SQL 2012 documentation from Microsoft it states, “The backup and restore operations of the DQS databases must be synchronized.”
Otherwise the restored Data Quality Server will not be functional. Currently I believe that DPM will run serialized backups of databases from one SQL server.
I was hoping someone could point me towards some documentation for backing up DQS with DPM.
Is anybody currently doing this? If so have you been successful restoring?

I have implemented synchronization in local on two instances and worked well for me. But when I am trying to implement the same in Prod server, it is giving exception backup and restore errors. Please let me know, is it possible to implement Synchronization
on same server in two different instances ?

According to your description, you get issue when sychronizing SSAS database server. Right?
In Analysis Services, it is supported to do sychronization for SSAS databases between different instances on same server. We can also sychronize two different SSAS servers. So in this scenario, you can do sychronization between Pro server and Dev server.

Full OS backup and restoration

I have a Win 2012 R2 server installed on a Dell PE730 box. The box is highly critical and there are lot of configurations in that server that I want to create a full backup and incase of failure of the box, the backup should be useful to restore the box
with all configurations.
I don't use any third party tools for backup - use Windows backup role in Win 2012, also plans to use the Windows feature itself to restore also.
What is the best method of creating a backup and restore plan. Pls suggest

You can use a full server backup to perform all types of recoveries, including system state and bare metal recoveries. We recommend this option. Then you could recover your server operating system or full server by using Windows Recovery Environment.

Automate backup and restore

Hi All,
I want to automate backup and restore operation in T-sql script I need to give resource server,database and backup file location as input and then I need to restore that backup in differenet server so I want to give destination server as input too.

Backup and restore LMS 3.1

We have cisco works LMS 3.1 and the server have very problems, we need format the server and reinstall the Cisco Works, when I doin backup and restore of data LMS We lost the licenses? or when we restore the data in the server we have the same licenses? or get the new licenses to cisco?

If you dont have the data, I would recommend a clean install for LMS 3.2 and not an upgrade. without looking at the error, it is hard to tell if it is an cosmetic one or imapcting.
LMS 3.1 is anyways EOS/EOL soon. Follow these tips for windows:

Backup and Restore VM

I have a host server that has a C: drive and a D: drive. Right now I only have one VM running and it is located on the D: drive. I need to reformat the disk that the D: drive is on. For some reason it was created as a MBR type disk and I
need to delete it and recreate it as a GPT disk so that I can extend the D: partition beyond 2TB. So, what is the best way to backup and restore the existing VM in this case?

I'm not really sure what you are referring to as an import/export but I'm going to assume its something along the lines of copying the data to 1 drive, then copying the data back to another drive. Doing a file based backup and recovery would do the same
thing. I don't particularly like doing stuff like copy and pastes to move data (especially important data) bc there is no guarantee copy and paste actually copied everything (no logging of what it actually did) and there are alot of things that can happen
during the copy (disk latency, network latency) that may cause data to be lost (delayed write failures). With any good backup program you should be able to run a report for what files it actually backed up and what files failed to backup and the reason
they failed to back up. Same applies to restores. Also I have seen issues where a simple copy and paste strips certain special attributes from the file.
If file based backup/restore is not an option, then maybe a robocopy of the data would be the best solution. I'm pretty sure using /b /copyall api should get everything as well. And you can add a /v switch to it to get some logging.

Keep in mind that with version 4.2, BPC Server manager backup and restore the OLAP DB (SQL Server 2000) whereas it does not requires it anymore starting version 5.x.
The root reason is that under 4.2 + AS 2000, security access to cube are directly stored in the cube definition.
But there is a side effect about this : If your AS database is over 2GB then BPC Server Manager will not work anymore. This is due to a restriction on SQL Server Analysis Service 2000 on msmdarch.exe process.
Based on previous experience, if you want to do it manually because BPC Server manager is not working :
Backup \webfolder\<<AppSet>>\*
Backup \FileDB\<<AppSet>>\*
Backup AppSet DB
After restore, you will have to process everything to get back Analysis Service DB + Cubes + Security... But i am not very sure it will work. Maybe you should at least create the OLAP DB (even if it's empty) to make it work.
But for sure this is doable, but technical limitation make it hard !
