Backup and Restore on different patches

Hi,
We are using SAP B1 2007B PL:08
At our client place PL:10 is installed
Suppose if we take a backup from client system and restore in our system and do some work and again take a backup from our system and restore in client system. Generally it happens during the implementation process.
By doing in this way what problems will arise because of different patches ?????????
Regards,
Murali.

Hi ,
It looks like you want to work in multiple patches at one time ..if that's the case ,
You have to copy the client folder of your client and bring into your local pc ..
Then you need to run the client from the folder , so you can run the customer version ...
Regarding after upgrade ..you cannot switch version .or patch  .like you expect
Hope this helps

  • Backup and Restore between different systems

    ALCON:
    I am considering to get a new desktop Mac soon, and currently my only Mac is my MacBook Pro 17", which I use daily.
    One of the things that I hope to accomplish (though not the reason for the purchase) is to freshen my configuration by installing all my applications and moving my data to the new machine so as it get it more organized. Once this is accomplished, what architectural or other issues would I run into if I made a full Time Machine backup of say an iMac, and then tried to restore it to a MacBook Pro so I had a duplicate of my new configuration/installation on the MacBook Pro then?

    Baltwo:
    Hey no problem on the mixup concerning my intentions.
    I am not sure I follow your English exactly, but "f you migrate from the old on initial boot with the new one, none of that stuff won't transfer. " means using Setup Assistant on the new Mac Pro to migrate from the MBP, exactly what "none of that stuff won't transfer"?
    1) If I migrate from MBP to Mac Pro, will it migrate my applications or just my data?
    (bear in mind, both are Intel systems, and both will be running the same version of MacOS)
    2) The /Library directory has more than just cache files, it has many other things in it, for example I have seen customer's systems where they had Adobe help files in their from versions of Adobe software they had long since uninstalled. To what extent does the /Library and other such (local user libraries too) get migrated?
    3) You have given me another idea, which is that once I get the Mac Pro properly setup, why not just do the reverse? Install a fresh MacOS onto the MBP, and pretend I am "migrating back" (from Mac Pro to MBP) using Setup Assistant? Let Apple's software worry about making it work, ay?!!
    Thanks again, I shall do some more research but you have given me some food for though, and some good ideas too with regard to how to leverage Setup Assistant to my advantage more fully.

  • Iphone4 would not restore Error -50. I have tried to restore and it restored it to the point that it created after 5.0 was installed. How can I get it an older restore point from my backups and restore it on another computer? The phone has been wiped out.

    Iphone would not restore---- Error -50. I have tried to restore, and it restored it to the new point that it created after 5.0 was installed. How can I get it an older restore point from my backups and restore it on another computer? The phone has been wiped out. I can see earlier backups in my C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup folder. There are four subfolders in this address. I need my contacts, photos, and messages back. I know this is a common error but I can not figure it out. I have ran the other troublshoot items in the error steps for 13 and 14 like apple says. Is there a way to call apple and get a step by step of how to restore from another restore point? Does anybody have a solution????

    It tells you to go to Error 13 and 14 if you receive error (-50).
    Here is what I have tried...
    Error 13 and 14: These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
    Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting. I have moved it around to different ports.
    Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer. Didn't change anything.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts. Removed all virus protection and firewall.
    There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.Used the Microsoft fix it.
    Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online. Doesn't matter.
    Try to restore from another known-good computer and network. I do not know how to do this or how to find the correct/full/complete restore point. There should be more information for this.

  • The backup and restore function in windows 8.1 seems is changed!

    hi,
    I don't see the real backup and restore function in windows8.1 .
    I have  in search entered  backup and I see some other things
    thanks

    Here's an article that will help:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/what-happened-to-backup-restore
    In previous versions of Windows, you could use Backup and Restore to back up your files or create and use a system image backup or repair disc.
    Windows 8.1 gives you choices about how you can recover your PC and back up your personal files.
    Reset or refresh your PC
    If you’re having a problem with your PC, you can refresh Windows without losing your photos, music, videos, and other personal files. You can also start over by resetting it to factory settings. For more info, see
    How to refresh, reset, or restore your PC.
    Back up or restore personal files
    You can use File History to back up the files on your PC in the Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, and Desktop folders. Over time, File History builds a history of your files. You'll first need to set up a File History drive and turn File History on. For
    more info, see
    Set up a drive for File History. If your original files are lost, damaged, or deleted, you can restore them. You can also browse and restore different versions of your files. For more info, see
    Restore files or folders using File History.
    Use System Image Backup
    You can use System Image Backup like you did in previous verison of Windows.
    To open System Image Backup
    Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click
    Search.)
    Enter File History in the search box, tap or click File History, and then click
    System Image Backup.

  • RMAN backup and restore for Disaster Recovery

    Hi Guys,
    I am very new to Oracle and have a question about RMAN backup and restore feature. I am simulating a disaster recovery scenario by having two VMs running oracle 11g, say hosta and hostb, hosta is sort of production db and the other a disaster recovery db (one that will be made primary when disaster occurs). My goal is to backup production db using RMAN and restore it on the other machine. For some reason when I restore the db on hostb, the command restores the previous backup but not the most recent one e.g. I took a backup yesterday (09/20) and applied it to the hostb that worked fine, but when I try to apply a fresh backup from today (09/21) it always picks up the old backup. Here's a dump of the screen:
    Starting restore at 21-SEP-11

    I am executing following steps at the RMAN prompt on hosta and hostb:

    quit
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    Thanks guys, I really appreciate all your help here. I redid everything all over again to get all the information you guys wanted. Since I noticed that more eyes are looking into this I am going to reiterate my steps one more time followed by specific answers to questions. My first backup on Host B is located under ..../restore_db/backupset whereas the subsequent one is under .../restore_db/backupset/backupset2.
    I take backup on Host A using:
    rman target /
    backup as compressed backupset database plus archivelog;
    backup spfile;
    quit;
    I restore the backup on Host B using:
    set dbid=13732232063;
    startup force nomount;
    restore spfile to '/oracle/app/dev/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/dbs/spfileforums.ora' from '/export/home/dev/restore_db/backupset/o1_mf_nnsnf_TAG20110928T171830_787gbpxh_.bkp'
    shutdown immediate;
    startup force nomount;
    restore controlfile from '/export/home/dev/restore_db/backupset/o1_mf_ncsnf_TAG20110928T171638_787gbkxn_.bkp'
    quit;
    /* restart rman here */
    alter database mount;
    catalog start with '/export/home/dev/restore_db/backupset' noprompt;
    restore database;
    recover database;
    alter database open resetlogs;
    quit;
    I take another backup on Host A using (notice no spfile backup this time):
    backup as compressed backupset database plus archivelog;
    quit;
    I restore the database on Host B using:
    alter database mount;
    catalog start with '/export/home/dev/restore_db/backupset/backupset2' noprompt;
    recover database;
    alter database open;
    quit;

    In November 2014 I backed up my PC ( see below ) onto  a 2TB ecternal drive ( Lacie).  This ok and can restore.  Spare space 1.2TB
    Now when I attempt to Backup again, using Windows Backup and restore, with same settings  I get an error message :
    "The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open"  This appears after some time of activity. There is no mention of WHICH file causes the problem.  I have repeated with different settings ie with
    part backups only, or just one drive only.
    The PC runs Windows 7 ( 64 bit) there is an SSD c: drive and a d: drive mostly data with some programs installed here.
    I would very much appreciate some advice.

    Hi and thank you Mandy.
    After many failed attempts - even backing up a few files to test - I was getting nowwhere.  Eventually I succeeded after disabling start menus and uninstalling some programs.  I also disabled my Kaspersky anti-virus completely and disconnected
    the internet!!  This time the backup and system image appeared to be OK .
    You have helped, Mandy, by identifying the anti-virus as a possible culprit!!  Thank you.  Next time I backup I will just
    temporally disable it and see what happens.
    Kind regards
    Malcolm

  • Best way to backup and restore multiple iPhones??

    hi everyone,
    I am a pretty computer savvy person and I have a friend with an iPhone and a contact list who is having some problems with it... he wants me to backup and restore his phone on my mac as he has no computer of his own (his son set up his iPhone with music etc before and is back at school now)
    so I wonder what is the easiest way to create the backup of the contacts SMS etc?
    I have my mac with the latest iTunes running os x 10.5.6
    can iTunes create multiple backups of phones? should I look into a third part solution?
    thanks for any insight.

    You can sync multiple iPods and/or iPhones with iTunes on the same computer. iTunes will create a separate backup for each iPhone as long as each iPhone has a different name.
    In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only. If you sync his iPhone with your iTunes content, the iTunes account logged in to with iTunes when syncing will be transferred to his iPhone - but not the password for the account. If he tries to access your iTunes account too many times with the incorrect password, your iTunes account will be placed on hold.
    You can create a backup of his iPhone when the iPhone is connected to iTunes. Control-click on the name of his iPhone in the iTunes source list under devices and select Back Up.
    You can restore the iPhone with iTunes on your computer from his iPhone's backup, but do not sync his iPhone with iTunes on your computer. This should restore the contact info from the backup. The backup includes data such as most iPhone settings, email account settings, contact info, SMS messages, recent calls, call favorites, photos available in the iPhone's Camera Roll, and 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app.
    The backup does not includes iTunes content including apps, photos transferred from a computer to the iPhone, and calendar events.

  • Synchronization Issue backup and restore errors

    Hi,
    I have implemented synchronization in local on two instances and worked well for me. But when I am trying to implement the same in Prod server, it is giving exception backup and restore errors. Please let me know, is it possible to implement Synchronization
    on same server in two different instances ?
    Thanks,
    Moorthy

    Hi Moorthy2015,
    According to your description, you get issue when sychronizing SSAS database server. Right?
    In Analysis Services, it is supported to do sychronization for SSAS databases between different instances on same server. We can also sychronize two different SSAS servers. So in this scenario, you can do sychronization between Pro server and Dev server.
    Please refer to links below:
    How to synchronize two SSAS Servers

    If you issue still persists, plesae share some detail information about the error.

  • How to backup and restore iTunes library?

    I've had to transfer my iTunes library to a new computer a few times in the past and I've run into this problem. I lose all my playlist information etc. and have to re-create it. If there's some utility that assists in restoring ALL the meta data in the iTunes library I'll pay money for this...
    Thanks,
    Kevin.

    OK, while that is good for what most people want to do it isn't good enough for what I want to do. It doesn't cover the two requirements that I need:
    1. I want to keep some music files in a different folder. I don't want iTunes to manage these files.
    2. The source path may be different from the target path. i.e. on my old machine it was D:\Music\... but on the new machine it was C:\Music\... (and I've even changed sub-folders in the past to better organize things).
    The article you referred to requires that I either:
    1. Get iTunes to manage my music.
    2. OR copy my files to the same path (I didn't even have a C: drive!!!!)
    I've actually written my own utility that hacks around this issue but it screws up playlists so it isn't perfect. I just don't have the time or patience to figure out exactly how Apple processes its XML file format (they made it harder in one version of iTunes because it now uses the .itl file when it used to simply pick up the changes I made to the .xml file itself).
    So, I now want someone else to go to the effort of doing this and I'll pay something to buy their utility if it works well. I imagine there are probably other customers out there for this type of utility.
    Ideally, Apple should provide a "Backup" and "Restore" menu item that would handle this kind of thing for us and prompt us for destination path mappings when the "Restore" feature is used.
    So... does anyone else know of a utility to do this or if Apple is going to provide this in the not-too-distant future?
    Thanks,
    Kevin.

  • Windows 7 Backup and Restore error code 0x80070013 The media is write protected

    I have had a problem using Windows 7 64-bit Backup and Restore on two different brand new PCs. After setting up a backup to a WD MyBook 500GB external USB hard drive and performing the initial backup succesfully, when it tries to do another backup I am
    getting a "The media is write protected, (error code 0x80070013) " error. I have even tried to reformat the external drive with no luck in solving the problem. In doing some web searching I did come across someone with a similar problem running a Windows 7
    beta last year that appeared to have be fixed by an beta update. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi,
    Please try this:
    1)
    Click Start and type: diskmgmt.msc in Start Search box.
    2)
    Open Disk Management, right click on the external hard disk.
    3)
    Click Properties and click Policies.
    4)
    Check “Better performance”.
    5)
    Click OK.
    Then backup again.

    When I tried to backup my files, I recieved an error
    (0x80070013) saying that media is write protected

  • Restore Backup made with Backup and Restore W7 x64

    Hi ....
    Im really looking for some help here...
    I had my laptop stolen and my now trying to recover a 2013 Backup Image made with a Windows tool called Backup and Restore.
    The backup was made with a W7 SP1 64bit using Windows own Backup/Restore utility to create a system image on an external HDD connected by USB port.
    The application saved the image into a folder called WindowsImageBackup. Inside this folders there are 2 *.VHD file
    So as my laptop was Stolen, im trying to recover this old Backup and save my files again.
    I would like to restore that previous Image. These are the steps I took:
    1) Plugged in the HDD.
    2) I went to Control Panel->Backup and Restore.
    3) I selected 'Select another backup to restore files from'.
    4) In the Restore Files (Advanced) dialogue, my backup isn't showing into the box, because its on my external drive, so i choose browse network location
    5) I clicked 'browse network location' button, and it takes me to another restore files (advanced) dialogue that asks for network folder path.  I tried to locate my external HD, without success. So i tried Search Network. As i also have a copy of my
    backup on my NAS, i tried to inform the network IP path, but it didnt locate the backup either. I get the error that windows was not able to find any backup sets in that directory.
    6) As the step 5 resulted in nothing, i tried the option: Recover system settings or Computer. And then Advanced recovery methods. And finally use previously system image to recover computer. And then Windows asks to reboot the computer and once rebooted
    it starts on recovery mode where it cant find my backup image either.
    So, how can i recover my backup?
    I saw that the Backup created 2 VHD files and also tried to mount the VHD using Disk Management and attaching the VHD. The VHD mounted as drive and i could finally see my files, but most of them are corrupted. So i dont know if im doing something wrong when
    attaching the VHD.
    Can anyone help me please? I dont know what else to try.
    Thanks a lot
    Flavio.

    Hi,
    If you mean that you want to restore an system image in a different computer, then I have to say that it will not work.
    Please see the statement in KB 249694,
    we do not support restoring a system state backup from one computer to a second computer of a different make, model, or hardware configuration.

    Will you pl tell me where I have gone wrong ? Secondly what are the correct
    steps to be followed for taking cold backup and restoration.
    thanks & regards

    Okay let us ponder this for a moment:-
    DB NOARCHIVELOG
    It does not matter when you take the backup of controlfile because the database is in mount state and no changes are allowed to the db ( Checkpoints etc. )
    DB ARCHIVELOG
    It does not matter when you take the backup of controlfile because the database is continuously writing to the archivelog's.
    End result should not be significantly different as to worry about whether to take backup of control file before or after backup.
    Thanks
    Gopal
