Backup applications and it's data

Hi All,
I make a packup for my Iphone but when I view it on the itunes I see only the program without it's data, is this mean that backup is only backing up the applications without it's data?

Launch iTunes on your computer, uppper left, library:

How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.
This page is a good starting point for learning about Flex and PHP communication:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/flex_php.html
Also, in Flash Builder 4 they've added a lot of remote-data-connection functionality, including a lot that's designed for PHP. Take a look at the Flash Builder 4 public beta for more on that: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashbuilder4/

  • Can time machine be told to selectively backup applications and folders?

I need to perform a backup of the drive so that I can do a complete reinstall, however I cannot see any way to manually backup things like iTunes, it's library and settings, and a selection of installed programs such as say, adium, which has chat transcripts (not limited to that app and probably a bad example)
A reinstall through time machine is not an option, since from what I can see the basic install takes a disk image so the problems I currently have would be restored (self inflicted, deliberately, too long to explain but part of learning thingy)
If it's not possible in Time machine is there an alternative program or even a way to do this manually? I don't mind a little work.
    Thanks!

It doesn't have an option to easily select only specific directories or files. It only has the option to exclude files & directories. (It's function is to backup everything initially, then backup anything that has changed since it's previous backup.)
However, unless your self-inflicted problem is in an issue with something in your user accounts folders, you can bypass restoring it you do a re-install followed by a Time Machine restore.
When you install Snow Leopard, you'll see the "out of the box experience" (the welcome video, followed by the country selection, owner registration questions, etc..) Part of the OOTB is the "Setup Assistant" which will ask if you want to migrate from either another Mac, disk, Time Machine backup, Time Capsule, etc.
If you tell it you DO want to migrate/restore from a Time Machine it will selectively offer a few categories of things to restore. These include user accounts (all or nothing... you can't restore one account but ignore others), applications, and system settings.
This means you could do a re-install, then restore your user accounts -- even your applications if you want, without restoring other parts of the OS (for example if you think your system settings are damaged you can choose not to restore those.)
Lastly... you could opt to restore nothing at all and just re-create a user account. If you right-click on the Time Machine icon down in the dock, one of the options is to "Browse Other Time Machine Disks..." By clicking this you can open a backup and individually decide which files to restore -- being as selective as you wish.

  • Okay so I have a Seagate Backup Plus Drive External Hard Drive and I'm trying to get it to backup Applications and stuff on the dock such as iPhoto, and Photo Booth.

It's one of these External Hard Drives. I go to the Finder folder and go to the "Seagate Backup Plus Drive" to see what's in there and what I assume is that backups but the only thing that seems to be in there is folders from everything that is Desktop and a few Documents. The Applications folder seems to be empty and there are no folders for Photo Booth or iPhoto. Everything from GarageBand and iTunes seems to have been backed up according to the Seagate Backup folder when it is plugged in and opened. How do I get this thing to backup everything from Photo Booth and iPhoto? And by the way, I can't seem to access Time Machine the way you get it to where you can go back in time and see all of your stuff from previous dates. I don't know if this is important or a crucial part but I seem to not be able to access the actual time Machine Layout.

Simple on that one - Download Carbon Copy and follow the steps below:
if you have access to an external USB enclosure use it, or you can buy one for $10...
install your new ssd in the usb enclosure - connect to your macbook...
open disk utility and format/erase your ssd - mac os extended journaled.
open carbon copy - clone your drive with it - source (your old drive) + destination (your ssd).
once the clone is done, turn your macbook off - take old hard drive out - install new ssd in....
turn your macbook on - if boot time is more than 40 secs to desktop - go to system preferences - startup disk and select your new ssd as the startup disk - restart your macbook - should be about 14 sec boot time now.
install your old hard drive in your usb external enclosure and use it as a backup drive.
    good luck

  • How to "close" applications and not use data

Is it possible to "close" applications so to not use any data/internet at all, for example with safari?
Or is it when you click the "home" button, it closes?

    Technically, yes.
All apps once activated remain techincally open but suspend themselves when navigated away from.
The email app however, lets say you go in, and it starts the manual checking of mail. If you leave it, it will continue with that check until done. Then stop (but check again if you set your mail settings to check on an interval).
    Other apps, suspend themselves.

  • Backup MDC and ADIC license.dat file

My system is 2 G5 Xserve's, one as the MDC and one as the backup controller, about 2.7 TBytes of storage, and a Solaris 10 StorNextFX client that does most of my sharing to the rest of my network through NFS. ( everyone still running version 1.3 )
This morning, I restarted the MDC and during the time that it was down the backup controller took control of the SAN..
My problem is that the SUN StorNext client gave an error about being unable to renew the license for the filesystem, which I suspect is because I neglected to put a copy of the license.dat file into /Library/Filesystems/Xsan/config on the backup controller. I wasn't able to get the SUN to "refind" the SAN until I had restarted the backup MDC ( to make it jump back to the MDC ), and then restarted the SUN... ( bit of a pain )
OK... My question is..... I just put a copy of the license.dat file that is on the MDC into the similar place on the backup MDC , but will it work ? Or do I need to do something else. ( really hate to have to test this by rebooting the world again )..
    thanks much
    Mike

My current installs have a license.dat file for the primary MDC and a seperate license.dat file for the backup MDCs based on the cvfsid of each of the MDCs.
If you are using the exact same license.dat file for both MDCs then I'm not sure that it will work.

  • Deploy BPM application and keep all data of old tasks

    Hi all,
Currently, whenever i redeploy bpm application to weblogic server, all tasks information saved in database will be changed (the value of state attribute will be changed to 9). So i think it's not good in Production environment. I want to configure to keep all data of old tasks whenever deploy again.
Does anyone knows the solution for this ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Do you mean when you re-deploy the BPM composite application?
Do you overwrite the older version of the composite or deploy as a new version?
If you deploy a newer version, your existing task information should remain as it is otherwise it'll change to stale...

  • I have two iPhones and synchronize with the same macbook. How I do segregate both applications and data?

I have two iPhones and synchronize with the same macbook.  How do I segregate both applications and all the data?

    Hi Jamesdwills,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
If you are using the same Apple ID on both devices, the Game Center profile should be the same.
Check out this information from the iPad User Guide.  Try signing out of the Game Center on both devices and then sign back in with the correct Apple ID:
    Using Game Center
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4314
Game Center settings - iPad User Guide
    http://help.apple.com/ipad/7/#/iPad9a13d039
    Game Center settings
Go to Settings > Game Center, where you can:
Sign out (tap your Apple ID)
    Allow invites
    Let nearby players find you
Edit your Game Center profile (tap your nickname)
Get friend recommendations from Contacts or Facebook
Specify which notifications you want for Game Center. Go to Settings > Notifications > Game Center. If Game Center doesn’t appear, turn on Notifications.
Change restrictions for Game Center. Go to Settings > General > Restrictions.

  • How to activate MobileMe Backup application on OS X 10.8?

I did a clean install and wanted to continue using my MobileMe Backup application to restore some data, so I installed the application, opened it and it's in Trial Mode! cannot use it on OS X Mountain Lion 10.8, because I cannot sign in to unlock it! System Preferences MobileMe panel is gone.
Please I appreciate any help on this. Any solution?
    Thank you.

    @Templeton Peck, William Lloyd
Thank you guys for the rapid answer. I do understand that MobileMe services are closed since August 1 (officially June 30). I am speaking about using the application locally at home and not with MobileMe servers.
The application was working perfectly before erase/install the HD, now it says "Trial Mode"
I thought in copying back the panels:
    -System/Library/PreferencePanes/Mac.prefPane
    -System/Library/PreferencePanes/MobileMe.prefPane
but not sure if the servers will accept signing in from OS X System Preferences.
I can still have access to backup.app files the manual way: "Show Package Contents", and copy them back.
    A help is still needed.

  • Restoring a home folder backed up using the Backup application (with the umbrella) to a new hard drive running Snow Leopard

I was running OS X 10.4 Tiger on a 2006 iMac.  My home folder is backed up on a My Passport 500GB USB external drive using Backup (the original application that came pre-installed with the orange umbrella symbol).
I was intending to upgrade tp Snow Leopard so that I could sync a new iPad with iTunes and iPhoto so had ordered the disc from Apple and was waiting for it to arrive.
2 weeks ago my hard drive stopped - and I took the iMac to a support store (I am currently in Belgium and there is no Apple store here).  They confirmed the hard drive was dead and as I had my receipt for Snow Leopard installed this for me.
Now I am trying to restore my home folder but the new OS does not recognise the data.  I can see there is nearly 200GB of data on the external drive - but the folders contain small files call backup.log, backup.log.gz, InfoPlist.stringscat, stat0.....  all under 5MB.
Applecare told me they did not know about the Backup application and it was not theirs..... then suggested I tried migration assistant.
With migration assistant, I just get a spinning wheel at the initial 'select your disk' page - spinning now for more than 8 hours.  I checked on line and the only advice I saw was to use firewire - but my external drive works with the new high speed USB...
    Can anyone help?

Thank you for your help - I now have a solution  ...in case it helps someone else.....
...I also think I may have been a bit silly...
The solution - thanks to a great guy in Apple Support USA - thank you Matt!!
first I partitioned my hard drive using disk utility - and set 235GB for a separate install - I called it Tiger install disk
this allows your hard drive to act as 2 totally separate systems (by holding down the option key when you start the computer you can choose which you want)
then I reinstalled Tiger from my original discs onto the new part of my hard drive
then I read my backed up home folder and copied it to the Tiger system on the new hard drive section
then I rebooted and started up Snow leopard on the original part of the hard drive
then I used migration assistant to transfer from the 'Tiger install disc' drive - it was recognised by migration assistant
Where I think I may have been a bit silly
I am now not sure if the orginal backup was always visible in Snow Leopard
in Tiger I found backup.sparseimage - which when double clicked opened up my home folder
now that I have istalled Tiger as well - I can also find this in now Leopard...  ...so maybe I just hadn't opened all the original folders on my backup disk...
...but for sure migration assistant could not read the backup copy

  • TS3992 Just upgraded to OSX 10.8 I cannot find the Backup application

Also, no Storage and Backup settings under Settings->iCloud.  Any thoughts ?

No confusion.   My iphone does have a backup utility in  Settings->iCloud.   When i checked iCloud documentation for Macs it shows that this should also exist for OSX.   iCloud documentation shows that Backup should be available via a Backup application and/or Settings->iCloud->Storage and Backup    I have neither on my Macbook..

  • Can I restore my applications and data from a ML time machine back up to a machine running Lion?

Because of the horrible battery life with Mountain Lion (10.8.2), I am looking to downgrade to Lion. I have a Time Machine backup of my current machine, running ML. I do not want to restore all the way back to my last Lion backup, because that was a while ago. Basically, I want to backup my current ML hard drive, erase the computer, perform a fresh Lion install, and restore my apps/data using the ML Time Machine backup. Is the ML Time Machine backward compatiable with Lion?

    jgian wrote:

I am unaware of any battery life problem with Mountain Lion. There are many problems with incompatible 3rd party software, but that is a different problem.
I wrote a little diagnostic program to help show what might be causing these problems. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/download/EtreCheck.zip, run it, and paste the results here.
Will the ML Time Machine be backwards compatiable with Lion?
No. 3rd party application may be fine. Most Apple applications and data will not work.
Disclaimer: Although EtreCheck is free, there are other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.

  • Backing up data on second hard drive & choosing not to backup applications

    Hi
1...I have a second hard drive that contains my iTunes music & video's. How do I get Time Machine to back up data on stored on an external disc?
2...I want to conserve space on my backup disc by not backing up the applications folder. Is this recommended? How do I choose what I want to backup?
    Cheers
    David

    Answer to question 1.
    1. Using TM pref panel select Options...
    2. Navigate to your second HD and click "-"
    3. Now click "+" and navigate to your second HD and Cmd+click all items EXCEPT the iTunes and Video stuff, and then click the Exclude button.
    Answer to question 2.
    1. To exclude the /Applications open the TM pref panel
    2. Click Options...
    3. Click "+" and navigate to your /Applications and highlight it and click the Exclude button
    4. It's your choice to exclude whatever you want. Some will exclude Applications based on being able to restore them by other means. If you are unsure about this or don't care if you lose an Application then exclude /Applications otherwise leave things alone.

How can I restore my data from iCal? I didn't make any backup, but I use  time machine with an external HD. I deleted iCal when I deleted my gmail account. I have tried to restore, but I can only restore the iCal software and not the data.

    So what is your question?
If you forgot your encryption password:
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.
