Backup Assistant - Pin Invalid

I am trying to access my Backup Assistant and when I enter the pin, it tells me invalid pin.  When I hit the button to send to the phone, it is the same number that I was entering.  Is there a glitch somewhere?

Hi.  I understand you are having issues with your Backup Assistant Pin and I will certainly help you from here.   Is your phone still working that have your contacts on it?
If so, delete the backup assistant application and reinstall it completely.   Once you reinstall, it will ask you to put in the same pin number.
Please let me know if that works for you
Thanks!

  • Lost Backup assistant Pin

I do not remember setting up the BA pin 2 years ago.  My phone is running very slow and many time non responsive.  The Verizon store told me to wipe the phone clean, run restore for backup assistant and start like it's a new phone.  I dialed 611 to retrieve my pin but it now is online help and I could not find how to do it.  I also saw a discussion to clear the cache but when I power on the phone while holding the Home key, it boots as normal.  Not sure what to do at this point.  Help?

        Dear Rbatts51,
Good morning. Not being able to retrieve your Backup Assistant pin can be frustrating. You have the ability to reset your pin directly from the Backup Assistant application. Click for directions on how to retrieve your pin http://vz.to/169ZZhb When you get the prompt to enter your PIN click on forgot pin. Should you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us.

  • Backup Assistant Pin Problems

System keeps telling me that I have an invalid PIN.  When the system tells me the PIn, it's the correct PIN but I can not get the system to accept the PIN.  I tried delete and restore, but there is no un-install option. It only says, "force stop"; and that does not help.   This has been going on for a month.  Any ideas?

I am wondering if the new o/s Android 2.0 will correct the problem.  Any ideas on when that will be coming out?  We may have to reload everything when that happens.  Why do it twice?
I am assuming you mean 3.0.. The problem is with Backup Assistant not the phone or OS so I would think it wont fix it because BA has been having issues for some while..  There hasnt been any official report of the adroid X recieving this update so you may have a bit of a wait.

  • How do I reset the backup assistant PIN? I can not find my old one

This is a work phone, they bought me a new one and no ones knows the PIN for back up assistance

Thank you for reaching out to us, cplsargent. We can help with Backup Assistant. When you access the Backup Assistant application, as soon as it asks for your pin, there should be a link that asks if you have forgotten your pin. You may need to scroll the screen a bit down to see this link. This will provide the pin needed to recover your contacts. What phone are you using?

I have a samsung stratsphere and I cannot remember my pin to backup assistant,

Babsmama, that happens to me all the time! You can reset the pin by signing into MyVerizon: http://bit.ly/xB4iTc .  If that is not an option, you can PM us your number and verification code so we can reset it. I hope this helps.

  • BackUp Assistant PIN Retrieval

I noticed this same question had been brought up before, and it looks like it was never resolved...
When Backup Assistant says my PIN is wrong, I choose to retrieve my PIN. It then says to go to "http://www.verizonwireless.com/backupassistant" and click on "View PIN."
I must be blind, because I have no idea how to find "View PIN" and I hope somebody can help!
    Thank you so much

As of today I found my pin by clicking on "manage contacts" from the main MyVerizon page.  It then took me over to my contacts page.  On the upper right hand corner of the page, just below the Search bar, I have a little red phone, then a bar that says "Sync to Phone", and then a bar that says "View Pin".  Clicking that brings up a box with my pin.  It was a pain that took forever to find, but that's where it was.  Hope it helps someone.

  • How do I get Backup Assistant to work on a Samsung SCH-u640? I can change the PIN, but I can't back-up (always says I entered the wrong PIN). This locks up the phone and is ruining the battery life!

I can set a PIN for Backup Assistant.
When Backup Assistant tries to run, it locks up and asks for the PIN.
I enter the PIN, and it's rejected as incorrect.
If I get a PIN reminder, it matches the PIN I entered!
This is really bothersome -- I can't stop Backup Assistant from running, and it won't work properly.
The result is the phone locks up until I manually close out of Backup Assistant.
And the battery runs down pretty quickly.
    Yecch!
    Any ideas? Please advise. Thanks!

Yecch is right! I'm sorry to see there have been issue with the Backup Assistant PIN. Can you recall when this started happening? Was there a PIN or phone change that happened prior to this happening?
When you go to Media Center>Browse and Download>BackUp Assistant>Options do you see an option sot Upgrade Check? If there isn't an option for that, power the phone off/on and please try to access it again.
Lastly, you should try to reset the application by following the steps here http://vz.to/1AHpMIo.
Please let me know what happens.

  • How do you change the backup assiatnt pin number??

How do you change teh pin that was given automatically.? Like to use somethign that I will remember

It's always helpful to utilize a PIN that will easily be remembered by you.
I would be better able to assist you if I knew which phone you have.
If you have a basic phone you can
Change your PIN - Access Backup Assistant on your handset:
    select Options
    select Change PIN
enter the PIN shown on the right in the enter
    old PIN field
click Next then enter your new PIN
    click next
click OK to complete the PIN change.
If you have a smart phone, I would recommend visiting the Verizon Support web page. Once you are there, type
change backup assistant pin (along with the phone you have)
(i.e change backup assistant pin Droid X)
Once you have done that, you will get step-by-step instructions on how to change your PIN via your phone.

  • Backup Assistant and DriodX

I can't log into my backup assistant on my new DroidX because I cant get the touch pad to switch from numeric to alpha, and all of the Verizon pass words are alpha/numeric? It shows the standard ketpad with the numbers and the alpha but I can only get it to type the numbers, not any alpha ???

The backup assistant PIN is 4-8 digits, must be numbers. If you are having trouble signing into your back up assistant account, you can view your PIN online. Please click BACKUP ASSISTANT to sign into your account. Once you sign in, you should see "view PIN" in the upper right corner. Once you click the link, your should see your PIN.
    Hope this helps!

  • Backup assistant contacts not showing up online

    Hello,
I am using backup assistant for the first time so that I can import my contacts to my new 4G device. I've run the application from my blackberry, but when I sign on on-line, the website is showing my contact list as empty. However, my backup assistant PIN is being correctly captured, so I know that I am being recognized.
I've tried deleting and re-installing backup assistant on the blackberry and running again. No luck. Any suggestions? Is there some sort of lag time for when the contacts will show up online?
Just in case the question comes up, I am the only user on my wireless plan.
    Thanks,
    Ty

    Hi tc4213,
New 4G phone is always a great thing. Not being able to backup your contacts must be frustrating; however, I'm sure we can find a way to backup and transfer your contacts to your new device.
First we must make sure that your Blackberry device is compatible with Backup Assistant. The following BlackBerry devices are not compatible with Backup Assistant:
    BlackBerry 7130e
    BlackBerry 7250
    BlackBerry 7750
    BlackBerry 8130 Pearl™
    BlackBerry 8130 Pearl™ in Pink
    BlackBerry 8230 Pearl™ Flip
    BlackBerry 8703e
    BlackBerry 8830
If your device is not one of the ones listed above, please make sure that your are following the instructions listed in the link below:
    http://support.verizonwireless.com/how_to_use/transfer_contacts/blackberry.html
Additionally, with a 4G device you will most like create (if you don't already have one) a Gmail account. If you have not created one I recommend to create a Gmail account at http://goo.gl/2Ucuc and then sync your Blackberry with your Gmail account using the Google Sync App and your contacts will be saved online. You can get the Google Sync App at http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/
Then simply activate your 4G device and enter your Gmail account credentials and your contacts will transfer automatically to your new phone.

  • Backup Assistant tells me my PIN is invalid, but it's not?

Ok so, I am upgrading my LG Octane to an iPhone, and I am trying to use Backup Assistant on my Octane before I switch over, so I can transfer all of my contacts. Heres the problem: I have tried to run BUA MULTIPLE TIMES but it keeps telling me that I have entered an invalid pin, even though I called customer support and they gave me the correct PIN number.. So then, I tried to delete it and re-install it. I removed the app, but SOMEHOW I can still run it under the "contacts" menu on the navigator. Then it tells me I need to re-install Backup Assistant BUT BACKUP ASSISTANT ISNT EVEN AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD!!!! SO NOW, WHEN I TRY TO RUN BUA,  it says "The mobile # for this phone has changed. Press "OK" to update your Backup Assistant account." So I press OK BUT THEN IT TELLS ME THAT MY PIN NUMBER IS INVALID!
I am beyond furious right now and I'd appreciate it if someone could help me out!!!!!

Yes, I did something similar to Medic. In fact, I called the Verizon Help Center, and here is what they suggested that I do. Make sure that you already have the PIN number written down.
    Go to the Main Menu.
    Go to Media Center.
    Go to Browse and Download.
    Open Backup Assistant.
Using the left soft key, open options, then select Help and open it.
Now, enter the following. The screen itself will not change at all:   * 7 3 7 3 8 3 #
If done correctly, this should exit the program. Although the program still appears in the Browse and Download menu, it should be effectively uninstalled.
Power off and then power back on your phone.
Reopen the Backup Assistant as before, and you should have the option to "restore". The old PIN number should still work.
I hope this works for you! I know it worked for me!

    JWensley,
Sorry to hear about the trouble with the PIN! Let's get you past that so you can complete the transfer process. Are you receiving that PIN by pressing the # key as outlined here: http://vz.to/1zINyY8 . Is this the initial backup on the old device?

  • Backup Assistant doesn't recognize PIN sent from phone....

I've been trying to backup my Casio GzOne contacts.  I have been able to change the PIN from the phone keypad successfully, but when I try to do a backup I keep getting an Invalid PIN error.
There are 39 pending contacts on the phone to backup.  If I select the "Sync to Phone" button on the Backup Assistant web site will BA pull those contacts from the phone and add them to the contact list on the web site, or will it push the contact list from the web site to the phone, causing the loss of the 39 contacts not backed up?
I bought a new smartphone and need to transfer my contact list.
    Thanks.

I just had the same problem.  What I finally did on the old enV Touch was
    Go to "Media Center."
    Go to "Browse & Download"
Scrolled down to "Backup Assistant" and clicked "Options."
I did an "Upgrade Check," which allowed me to upgrade to the latest version.
After that, my pin worked correctly.  Good luck!

  • Forgot my pin number for Backup Assistant

It has been quite a while since I downloaded the backup assistant app for my Samsung Gusto mobile phone and I have forgotten my PIN number and I am unable to retrieve it by pressing the # sign as directed....Nothing happens and every time I open my phone it says invalid pin number. It is very frustrating. Can anyone help?
    Thanks, Mike.

Can't be more specific than what I gave ya, sorry.  For the Backup Assistant accounts that I have, if I log into those lines' MyVerizon accounts and click Manage Contacts, I see a gray View PIN button in the upper right-hand corner.  When I click on that, I get a pop-up with the PIN number.  You may have to contact Customer Service and see if they can figure it out; good luck.
