Backup Assistant verses Sync and Connect

The new Sync and Connect service looks neat, however, both of the lines on my account doesn't need the GMAIL, Yahoo, etc., integration. For my line, I have all my third party emails set to forward over to my MobileMe account, and on my mother's line, she doesn't have a data plan.
So do we really need to switch over to Sync and Connect, or should we just stay on Backup Assistant?

Thanks for the info! I'll probably just use Backup Assistant since I have all my other emails forwarded to MobileMe, so it seems I don't need Sync and Connect. Nice included service though for those that manage multiple inboxes though! I'll sure recommend it to friends!

I went ahead and signed up for the free Sync and Connect since I like how I can more easily text from the web using My Verizon. However, I was wondering, now that I'm on Sync and Connect, do I still have to run VZ Contact Transfer on my iPhone once a month to backup my contacts to Sync and Connect/Backup Assistant, or will they remain on my account now that I'm a Sync and Connect subscriber?

Customers who set up email on their Sync & Connect capable device are able to view their device contacts via the Sync &Connect website you, will no longer be able to use the Backup Assistant website.

i keep trying to get sync and connect to work and it keeps giving me the same error
"We are currently unable to complete your request, please try again later. If you continue to get this message please contact technical support at support.vzw.com "

Are you using your device to try to activate the Sync and Connect? If so, you will need to do so from a computer at the designated website. The Blitz is not Sync and Connect compatible. You can navigate to www.vzw.com/sync to set up and manage the program. Once you sign into your My Verizon site at the link above it will automatically prompt you to agree to the terms and conditions and begin the process of setting up you email account(s). How can I delete my old Laptop from my iPhone (iTunes Wifi Sync) and connect it to my new Laptop

HI;
I have an iPhone 4S Factory Unlocked, up to date (iOS 6.0.1). I connect it to my Laptop named "The Love" via USB and opend iTunes and checked Sync over Wifi to enable this feature. Everything works great.
After a couple months I sold my Laptop and bought a new Laptop named "Raid", I did the smae steeps, connect it to my new Laptop via USB and opend iTunes and I checked Syn over Wifi to enable this feature and hit Apply, also I did the sync via USB cable and it works fine.
Now I want to sync via wifi, so I went to General --> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync --> here my iPhone still showing "Sync will resume when "The Love-PC" is available", Okay I sold it!! What I will do! I stock! does this mean I will need to find my old Laptop and buy it back????!!!!
I tried to do those steeps over and over, same result, my iPhone stock with the my old Laptop, It seems my iPhone liked my "The Love" Laptop
My question is:
How do I delete this setting? and connect it to my new Laptop?

Well " even if I plugged it via usb" I meant that I did all the spteps, connect my iPhone via USB, Open iTunes, Check on Sync this device via WiFi, click on Sync, Unplug the iPhone.
Again I DO NOT HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE USB OR SYNC MY IPHONE THROUGH ITUNES VIA USB

With you phone connected to your computer and itunes open select your phone from the list on the left then click on summary tab, scroll down to OPTIONS and check the box beside Sync with this phone over wifi. Now you will not need to connec the phone with a cable. On your phone in settings/general tap on itunes wifi sync and then sync now. Your phone needs to b epluged in to power and have wifi available

How can I disable the automatic opening on the Backup Assistant Plus website (and video) every time I connect my Droid 4 to my computer?

I am a mobile application developer (iOS and Android).
Our company bought an unlocked phone.
We have no need for backups.
Every time I plug our Droid 4 into the host computer (a Mac),
it automatically opens this website:

This is *REALLY* annoying.

This can be a highly frustrating problem. I just spent 45 minutes working on an email. Nearing the end I go to grab my mouse after typing and accidentally hit mouse 4 and lose everything. This isn't the first time I have lost work or an email. I would say the ONLY reason why there currently lacks a strong feedback against this is because the majority of people do not have mouse 4+5 buttons on their mice. Please add the option to just disable this "feature". It's just far to easy to accidentally hit these buttons accidentally and potentially lose a lot. I don't know anyone who actually uses these buttons anyways.

Online Backup Assistant and Text Messaging address books

It appears that my contact list as found in Backup Assistant is totally separate from my address book as found on the Send a Text Message page.
Am I correct?
If so, is there a way to copy my Backup Assistant contact list to my Send a Text Message address book?
If there is no way to synchronize these lists, I would request that such a feature be added.

Am I correct? Yes, that is correct. The backup Assistant is synced to your actual phone, and the address book for vtext. com is limited to the contacts you enter there and text through that method.
If so, is there a way to copy my Backup Assistant contact list to my Send a Text Message address book? I don't believe there is. I'm not sure there is a way to import ANY contact list to the vtext.com pages, at this point.
If there is no way to synchronize these lists, I would request that such a feature be added. Let's hope someone who can do something will see this and pass along the suggestion....

Iphone 4 sync and backup issues

Hi, i have been reading the questions on this community and would like further assistance on syncing and backing up.
Story is i had issues with my iphone and wen to Apple Store and they restored to original factory settings. Lady said easier for me to setup new iphone which i have now done. i have deleted all my backups from my computer and in preferences. i am now in the process of syncing my iphone and it has taken me over 10 minutes and still syncing. how long does it normally take?
Is it easier for me to uninstall and reinstall itunes and quicktime?
Please help. i have been trying to do this for a while now and getting frustrated!!!

Depends on how much you're trying to sync over.

My Droid Razo won't Sync with Backup Assistance any longer

I have a Droid Razo I got a couple of months ago. The Verizon Employee helped set it up and set the backup assistance to sync between 12-midnight and 6A. It use to work fine. In the last week or so I get up in the morning and it says there was an error syncing. I checked to see if the backup assistance was still on and it is. I tried Syncing several times manually and I keep getting the same error. Do you think it has to do with my phone or Verizon?

1. Log into Verizon Backup Assistant
2. Click on Export to CSV
3. Save File as (or Rename to) Contacts (it should already be converted to CSV so including .csv is redundant)
4. Log into Gmail/Google Voice
5. Click on Contacts
6. Click on Import
7. Browse for the Contacts (.csv) file
8. Click Import
9. Disable BA by going to Settings / Applications . Manage Applications / All Tab / Sync Service / Clear All
All contacts on youir device should sync to Google if they are not in the BA backup... Now I do say should because no software is perfect

How do I get Backup Assistant to work on a Samsung SCH-u640? I can change the PIN, but I can't back-up (always says I entered the wrong PIN). This locks up the phone and is ruining the battery life!

I can set a PIN for Backup Assistant.
When Backup Assistant tries to run, it locks up and asks for the PIN.
I enter the PIN, and it's rejected as incorrect.
If I get a PIN reminder, it matches the PIN I entered!
This is really bothersome -- I can't stop Backup Assistant from running, and it won't work properly.
The result is the phone locks up until I manually close out of Backup Assistant.
And the battery runs down pretty quickly.

Yecch is right! I'm sorry to see there have been issue with the Backup Assistant PIN. Can you recall when this started happening? Was there a PIN or phone change that happened prior to this happening?
When you go to Media Center>Browse and Download>BackUp Assistant>Options do you see an option sot Upgrade Check? If there isn't an option for that, power the phone off/on and please try to access it again.
Lastly, you should try to reset the application by following the steps here http://vz.to/1AHpMIo.
Please let me know what happens.

Get it Now and Backup Assistant

I use a Motorola RAZR. I understand now Verizon no longer supports Get it Now on this phone. Is there a way to directly install backup assistant, VZ Navigator and Mobile Email onto the phone? VZ customer service only told me to upgrade and offered no real assistance

Synch and connect

Ok just saw this feature on the verizon wireless web site, and i dont understand the idea of this. It doesnt bring anything new per se as you can already send text and pic messages from home pc and almost every phone has backup assistant on it now. So why offer this service? why should I sign up for it or am i missing something?

Question?? Backup Assistant - Going from BlackBerry to Droid

I am going from a BlackBerry Curve to a Droid X. Do I need to use the Backup Assistant or can I connect the information on my Gmail account (Contacts etc) to the Droid X.
I have the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and use this to backup my phone...do I really need to do anything or can I activate my new Droids?

I would think you have your contacts already on your online account. If yes then do this.....
1. Go to Verizon Wireless and log into My Verizon. If you do not already have a My Verizon login and password select the “register” link.
2. On the My Verizon landing page select either “My Contacts” from the account actions on the right side of the page, or the “Contacts” button at the top of the page..
3. Export the .csv file:
a. Select the contacts that you want to export. If you want to export the entire list use "Select All".
b. Select the "Export Contacts" function.
c. Select the option to export contacts in "CV (Outlook)" format.
4. Save the exported .csv file to your computer.
5. Go to mail.google.com and log in. You will need to register for an account if you do not already have one.
6. Select “Contacts” from the menu on the left side of the screen. Once on the contact page select “Import” in the upper right hand corner.
7. Follow system prompts to import your .csv file.
8. Activate your Android device.
9. Sign into your Gmail account on your DROID. Contacts will sync automatically over the air.

Wth?! need help with backup assist

ok so i recently switched to verizon. so far i am not happy. this might be the last straw.
basically a few days ago i was online using backup assist. i would go to the page. it would give me a list of my contacts to edit etc.
well. yesterday i tried to log in and use backup assist. but what happened? the link (for whatever reason) send me to 'sync and connect'
every time i would TRY to get to my contacts? 'sync and connect'
well the thing is i DONT WANT to sync and connect. first of all i dont want to give verizon my email. second i dont want verizon to sync all my emails (like it said i would if i proceeded)
so my question is.. WTH happened to my contact backup assist? thats all i want to do.

Backup assistant has been going through changes; Media Center recently got an update; and the Sync and Connect is apparently a new feature. Like you, bon0054, I don't necessarily want my email contacts synced with my cell phone list.
makeuwunder, thanks for posting a workaround (and I do consider having to uninstall a previously working app and then reinstall it a workaround!). I'm trying to find out more about Sync and Connect - it seems to be a replacement or upgrade to BA for smartphones.
I don't agree with making it a forced update though - you should have the option of keeping your current backup assistant method, or moving to the new version, without the hassle of uninstalling and reinstalling to avoid having to update to the new version.

My Verizon "Backup Assistant Plus" will NOT sync my contacts. Anyone else having this problem?
I can sync with Google okay and, of course, with Data Pilot 7 but not Backup Assistant so it's not big deal.
In fact today my wife just bought a new Charge phone and it immediately sync'ed okay. BTW, we like to have the same phones for trouble shooting.

I thought I would add this. I talked to some folks at a Verizon store and they said that some Charge phones just will NOT sync using Backup Assistant. As I already said, I really like Data Pilot 7 better anyhow.

I might have discovered why one of our two Charge phones can use Verizon's BackUp Assistant (BU-Asst) and the other Charge phone cannot use it.
When I looked at the contact list in my wife's new Charge phone to the right of each individual contact there is a RED colored symbol signifying VERIZON. This phone is able to backup/sync the contacts using Verizon's BU-Asst but this phone CANNOT backup/sync to her GOOGLE account.
Furthermore, when I looked at the contact list in my older Charge phone to the right of each contact there is a BLACK colored symbol signifying GOOGLE. This phone CANNOT backup/sync the contacts to Verizon's BU-Asst but it can backup/sync the contacts to my GOOGLE account.
Maybe if I could get both the Verizon RED symbol and the Google BLACK symbol to the right of each of our contacts we could backup/sync to both Verizon and Google. Does anyone know how to do this???
Take a look at your contact list. Is your backup/sync ability limited so you can only backup/sync to either Verizon (the RED symbol) or Google (the black symbol).
In reality we may have sealed our own fate when we originally chose where to save the contacts. Think back, do you remember when you had to make a choice between Verizon (red), SIM Card (who knows the color), or Google (Black). See atached photo. To bad we cannot have both or all three. It makes me wonder if someone had chosen SIM CARD instead of the Verizon (RED or Google BLACK) symbol. That person may not have been able to backup/sync to either Verizon or Goggle.
