Backup Assistant with Samsung Fascinate

I have had issues with the backup assistant since I purchased the phone a year and a half ago, now that I need to switch phones I am hoping to resolve the issue first. My backup assistant worked fine on my previous phone, when I switched to fascinate it never synced it always says there is an authentication failure and when I try to manually backup it asks me to enter my pin which it says is incorrect or may have changed on the website. I can't even log in to backup assistant on my Verizon because it says backup assistant is not installed on my phone, how do I uninstall and reinstall backup assistant on my  phone? Please help!!

I have that same phone with the very same issues that I was recently able to fix with the help of a Verizon employee at the wireless store. Call first to make sure they have the correct software and that it is working as not all stores have the capability. He hooked it up on his software which downloaded my contacts and not sure how but it's been working great after months w/o it.
Like you I am overdo for upgrade but relieved it's actually functioning. Phone tech dept should be able to tell you if BUA contacts are available and if they can't upload over the phone they can locate the closest store with the software. The lady I spoke with even called them to verify it was working. Hope it helps!

    Last year when I tried BU Assist it only backedup 6 contacts. Verzon told me it was a bug they were working on. I just tried it today and it backed up 8 contacts. Does anyone know something better then 2 a year ?

    Ok. I was looking on the PC side in Gmail Contacts. It does not show there. I do see it on my phone as you say. The ones that are getting backed up with BA have the Phone Symbol and are the # service numbers that came with the phone plus one other that I guess saved to the phone contacts by accident. There is no way to change from one to the other or add a Phone Contact symbol to a Gmail contact. I did create a generic phone contact then joined one of my gmail contacts to it and it came up with both symbols however once I joined the generic phone contact it was no longer available to be joined again with another gmail contact. So I would have to create duplicates of all my gmail contacts as phone contacts in order for BA to back them up. Not worth the effort. I hate being beat by a device or application ! I once imported all my contacts from gmail to Facebook and found out that gmail saves every email address you ever used even if you do not have it in your contact list. So I would up with over 600 contacts in whatever I was doing and had to delete all the ones that I had no idea who they were.

    My son lost my Samsung Intensity II about a week ago. Before I activated my old LG enV2 I went online and ran the Backup Assistant on the Samsung. Since then, I have periodically received the following message on the LG:
    Backup Assistant has encountered an account configuration error. To reconnect this device to the service, please delete Backup Assistant from the phone and download it again from Get It Now, then install. Log into your account for more info - www.verizonwirelss.com/backupassistant.
    From scanning these forums, I understand that this phone is one that is no longer supported by Backup Assistant. So how do I get rid of the reminder messages coming from Verizon?
    Also, can I see the backup files on my PC so that I can manually enter my contacts into my old LG?

    I've now found where I can see the contacts online. However, I have a family plan and the Backup Assistant will only let me see the contacts on the primary phone. It does not allow me to see the contacts on my phone. How can I get it to show the contacts for my number?
    Finally found out that you MUST have a Verizon Wireless account for EACH phone to access you Backup Assistant Contacts. At least I can now see my contacts and can manually update them. TG this isn't a corporate phone with a ton of contacts!

    and receive message:  "Unable to retrieve catalog, --#3332

    I apologize for the trouble you are having with downloading Backup Assistant.  I want to ask you a few questions.  Is this your first time attempting to download Backup Assistant? Do you have any blocks on your account? What type of coverage is displayed on the top left side of the display when you are trying to download the application?
    In the meantime, remover your battery, wait 20 seconds before putting the battery back in and try to downloading the application again.  I hope this information is helpful.  Please let me know if you require further assistance.

  • Is it possible to use Backup Assistant with the Kin One?

    I just got my new Kin One last night.  I've never used Backup Assistant before but I wanted to start now.  Unfortunately, the instructions for downloading the tool only seem to include phones with the "Get it Now" feature.  I can't find anything remotely like that in my phone's settings.  Am I overlooking it or does it simply not exist as an option for this phone?  I have a lot of contacts to enter and I hate to think that I'd have to do it all over again if something went wrong with the thing.

    Sorry, Backup Assistant doesn't work with the Kin Onem. Some customers have had luck with getting a Verizon store to transfer them, but it seems to be hit or miss, as not every store has the software it needs for this particular device. Otherwise, consider this an opportunity to weed out old contacts as you enter them manually. 

  • Backup Assistant with more than one line?

    I am part of a family plan, two lines have a backup assistant setup, however when I try to look online for the stuff that is backed up on VerizonWireless it shows neither. All it does it show me an option of adding an email address, and for contacts laughs it off with "We will do the work for you."
    I don't need the email portion. I just want to view the contacts, and no matter how many times I tell the application on both of the phones to do so, it never shows up on verizon online.
    It even tells me in the application to go to verizonwireless.com/backupassitant to view the contacts...Yes...I would like to do that please.

    Was resolved, apparently I need seperate myverizon accounts to have different backup assistant stuff.

    Adding a line will cost you 9.99 per month, probably a $26.00 in actiavtion fees if your iphone is the main line.

  • Massive problems with Samsung Fascinate

    I've had my phone for a little over 9 months. When I first got it, it was great. Then the "upgrades" came. I now have an unreliable brick. In the past 20 minutes today, it has reset on me 4 times for no reason. It freezes constantly, so I can't depend on it to make or receive phone calls (which almost made me late to work one day since I couldn't call to have someone let me in at 5:30 in the morning.)
    Is anyone else having these problems? Is Verizon planning on fixing these problems? What are my options? Any advice would be helpful.

    I've had the same problems with my Fascinate.   Since the upgrade, it freezes up constantly.  It's so bad that I don't even bother to turn it on most days (then I find out I missed a dozen calls and messages).  It's really appalling that Verizon Wireless won't offer customers a better solution for a phone that clearly isn't working for them.  I'm eligible for an "upgrade" in about a month and I can't wait to get away from this high-tech brick!

    I got my fascinate last november and have had a lot of issues with it. I noticed around two months after purchasing it that I did not send or recieve texts and did not recieve all my voice calls. After talking with someone at tech support I was told this was an issue with the phone and that I could exchange it with a "new" phone. I went to the local store and was told that this was not part of verizons policy and they would not do it. After numerous customer service calls I was told that even though they knew the tech person I talked too could be identified they could not contact him by phone to confirm what I had been told and would not honor what he had said. I find it weird a phone company can not communicate between call centers by phone. After many calls to customer service I was told I would basically have to settle for a refurbished phone. I was also treated very rudely during these conversations. Needing to actually be able to use the phone I purchased I had to settle for this option. My phone now still has issues, I have to charge it more than once a day among other issues. Due to my past experiences with verizons "award winning" customer service including the one I just mentioned I find it pointless to try to resolve the issue with them. I also find it pointless to remain a customer when my contract is up and would warn others from becoming a customer.

      Are you having issues with your phone other than text and phone calls? How often do you pull the battery out? I do a weekly battery pull (unless the phone hangs, which is not that often) just to clear the OS out. This has helped quite a bit in battery life, things working/not working, etc.

  • Backup Assistant not compatible with Droid Razr M

    I'm trying to backup my photos, etc. and went to the apps section on Verizon's website to get the Backup Assistant Plus.  It says "not compatible your device, choose another to send to."  I tried the regular Backup Assistant with the same result.  What am I supposed to use to backup my data?  My phone is being replaced on Tuesday so it's critical that I get everything backed up now!!!

    Thanks.  It sounds a little complicated but I think I can figure it out.  Will that also capture my e-books from Kindle, Nook, Google Play Books and Aldiko Book Reader?  If not, how do I make sure I get those? 
    I used Explorer to copy every single file and folder that was in the Internal & External storage onto my computer hard drive (before I got your message) but I'm not sure how that will work to get it onto the new phone.  My plan was to just reverse the process but I'm worried that may end up causing more problems than if I just found a way to copy what I actually needed.

  • Backup Assistant shows no contacts on website

    The Backup Assistant on my old Samsung Sway phone says it's working and has synced contacts as recently as today (when I did a 'Backup Now'). However, when I log in to the BA website, I get a blank contact list.
    I haven't tried the Sync button on website as I'm worried it will overwrite the contacts on my phone with the empty list from the web.
    How can I get at my backed up contacts?

    Thank you for reaching out to the community for assistance with transferring your contacts. May I ask did you get this issue resolved? If not then I hope that you still have your contacts in your Samsung Sway. There are two options on how to get the contacts successfully transferred to your new device. If you are still having an issue with the website then I recommend taking both devices to the store to have the contacts transferred without risking any data loss.
    Another option is to create a new account in Backup Assistant with the Samsung Sway activated. Once you have done so, try syncing your contacts to the website again. If they appear online then you are free to activate the new phone. If they do not appear on the website then the first suggestion is recommended as a solution. In either case, please reply back with your findings from the decision you made. Once your contacts have been successfully transferred to your new device then I can open a ticket to have the website issue resolved for you.

  • Backup Assistant problems

    So I signed up for backup assistant with my new phone. Then proceeded to load in all my old #s on the new phone. I did not use backup assistant like I could have on my old phone because I had already deactivated it. Was in a hurry to get the new one going, and never read the directions all the way.
    So now I go to use Backup Assistant online, shouldn't all my contacts be showing up on here? All that is coming up when I did it was the default contacts that are on the phone already. What is going on here? I tried to even add a new contact on my online account then sync it. This made the phone say it had transferred 70 with 0 pending. Nothing different showed up on my online account for some reason.
    Did I totally mess this up or what?

    I got it working now so I can see my contacts online. But in my phone I had one contact with no # so I edited it in. Now it automatically like put in 2 contact files for the same #. I delete one then it takes the info off the other one so it is just a blank contact. I can't just delete the darn thing and have 1.
    Heres an example if that above confuses anyone.
    So basically I'll have say  John Adams. I do something with backup assistant, then it puts 2 files for John Adams. I delete one John Adams, then it leaves the other one blank and no info in it. I go to delete that it says erased, but it is not gone from the phone. I even tried to put in a whole new name for that blank file, say Mike Johnson. It changes it but it leaves it in alphabetical order where John Adams should be. M and J are totally different so whys it doing this.
    All in all I just want to have one file for a number and not have it create a 2nd one by itself. UGH!!

  • How to update backup assistant

    I have tried and tried to update/upload my new numbers and such from my device to the VZW site. But it never gets there. What happens is everything that is on the site gets download back to my phone instead. Much I have deleted from my phone AND on the site MANY times.

    Sorry, I have no idea on this one. I haven't used Backup Assistant since getting my Droid Eris. I also never activated Backup Assistant with the new account that I got with the Thunderbolt.
    Hopefully someone else has more information.

  • Does Samsung haven not offer backup assistant to transfer my contacts?

    Okay, granted I did not spend lots of time comparing features when it came time to replace my phone.  I just chose one of the free options that was similar in size to what I previously had -- the samsung haven.  It's only a backup phone.  as I now have an iPhone through my employer.
    What I did not realize, however, was that there is apparently no way to get the backup assistant downloaded onto that phone, at least as far as I can tell.  So, just because I selected a free phone, am I {word filter avoidance} if I had intended to transfer my contacts via the backup assistant on the verizon wireless site??
    If so, then screw the phone -- and my plan!  I don't really need it anyway since I was able to one way or another use a combination of third party web sites and apps to get these contacts onto my iPhone, which is NOT a verizon device.

    I would be glad to go over the Samsung Haven with you. That device isn't Backup assistant capable. The Samsung Haven is a feature phone with larger keys and its focus is geared towards easier dialing and setting up One-touch access to emergency numbers. If you do decide to use the Haven I've included a link to the user manual so you can see all the great features of this device.
