Backup BIEE 11g

Hi,
Does anyone have already created a backup procedure for web catalogs (+ publisher) and repository for BIEE 11G ?
Is it the same that it was in 10G (shutting down presentation service and backup of web catalog file system and repository)
What about publisher now ?

Who said you needed to shutting down presentation service in 10g to backup the web catalog file system? That's what "Toggle Maintenance Mode" is for in the Web Admin console.

Configuration error when open admin tool in BIEE 11g client

I have installed BIEE 11g client in my laptop,the version is 11.1.6.2 ,it has show one error in the installation log :

When the number of column exceed 256 in pivot view, it will generate the following error message as below:

BIEE 11G can not connect to Essbase11G

Dear all:
When I try to make a connection between BIEE 11G and Essbase 11G thruogh Oracle BI Administration tool interface. Afrer iinserting connection information, there is an error showed "fail to connect" immediately. It looks like that BIEE have not tried connect to Essbase yet. Could any one help me on this?

Depending on you operating system you will have to download all the files that are available.
I assume that you are using -Microsoft Windows x86 (32-bit) so you have to download the following files:
Download Disk 1 (1of2) (1.2 GB) (cksum 2566020254)
Download Disk 1 (2of2) (1.4 GB) (cksum 1574621548) Download Disk 2 (1of2) (1.4 GB) (cksum 2844488670)
Download Disk 2 (2of2) (145 MB) (cksum 413588641)
cksum or check sum is just to verify the integrity of your downloaded files you don't have to worry about it.
Before OBIEE installation you will have to install the RCU so download and intall the following file:
Repository Creation Utility (11.1.1.3.3):
Download for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) (338,232,451 bytes)

I tried to install 11g on windows server 2008 sp2 64bit. I installed both 32bit and 64bit jdk first. Then installed biee with Software Only mode. At the step to specify middleware home, it prompted error, INST-07407: Unable to detect machine platform or JVM bits. How to install it on 64bit machine?

How can I make a link to EBS from BIEE 11g?

Hello, I have some trouble with BIEE.
I tried to make a link to EBS from BIEE using Action, but it doesn't work.
I read manual and set as it is written, but when I click the link I got
message which says that "Oracle eBusiness Suite Server cannot be used now.
Please try it again.
If it won't be solved, contact to support desk".
I tried to edit xml files in many ways, but it doesn't work...
The document and posts about making link to EBS from BIEE 10g can be
often found on internet but not about 11g.
If anyone knows about this solution, please help me.

In this document I followed the step to make database object and connection pool, set up
authentication and modify xml files. Then I thought I could use BI Action Navigate to EBS,
but it didn't work, then I asked coworkers and I've told to do "5.3 Embedding Links to Oracle Business Intelligence in Oracle E-Business Suite" in this document.
At first I thought I need not do this setting because I would like to make action navigate from BI to EBS,
not from EBS to BI.
Although I managed to embed link to BI in EBS, it still doen't work.(but the connection from EBS to BI was successful)
And I tried to verify BI and EBS are in same domain, but I have no idea how to verify.
Could you please give me the way to check it?

RMAN Backup from 11g to 10g

Hi to all,
I am having a catalog DB in 11g and database in 10g. Can I take backup of 10g from 11g catalog database.
When I try to connect to the rman, I am getting the below error.
rman catalog=rman/rman@catalogdb target=sys@db10g_58
Catalog DB is in 11g
TargetDB in 10g
OS: Windows 2003 Server on both the servers.
Kindly post the suggestions.

Problem with pages name in dashboard Oracle BIEE 11g

Hello.
I use Oracle BIEE 11.1.1.3.0
I have dashboard 'CBR_CTLOG'. Dashboard has two pages 'Протокол контроля' and 'Протокол контроля детализированный'.
Both pages have dashboards prompt with active "Apply to all prompt pages"
When I go from 'Протокол контроля' to 'Протокол контроля детализированный', I get error:
Invalid path (/shared/CBR/_portal/CBR_CTLOG/РџСЂРѕС‚РѕРєРѕР» РєРѕРЅС‚СЂРѕР»СЏ РґРµС‚Р°Р»РёР·РёСЂРѕРІР°РЅРЅС‹Р№) -- path not found in dashboard
But when pages have English name "Test" and "Test2", I don't get this error.
I think, it's connected with that I don't use English languages for pages name, and BI EE don't make link for crossing.
How can I solve this problem, because I can't use English names for pages.

When you performing RMAN duplicate why you making your script so complicated?
Your instance name and DB name can be different, But what is the contents in your pfile "D:\TESTDELETE\initclonedb1.ora" ? please do post
Have you started any other services related to ORACLE? check in start --> run --> services.msc any other active oracles services, Make sure you have clonedb1.

Multiple data sources Essbase and RDBMS in BIEE 11g

I want to link Essbase cube with sql server in BIEE 11. I try to do it and I found that it can be linked in physical layer, but it does not allow me to set linkage in "Business Model and Mapping" layer. when I drag and drop a report and it return error:

1) Use "Import Metadata" in BI Admin tools to import data source from Essbase (e.g. TBC, TBC_ASO)
2) Use "Import Metadata" in BI Admin tools to import SQL server table (e.g. testdb.dbo.p_gen2_info)
3) create linkage between table testdb.dbo.p_gen2_info.gen_id with TBC_ASO.[Product.Gen2,Product - Member Key] in "Physical layer"
4) drag and drop TBC (Essbase), TBC_ASO (Essbase), and testdb (sql server) from physical layer to "Business Model and Mapping" layer
5) drag and drop table testdb.dbo.p_gen2_info to TBC_ASO (since it dosn't allow set linkage in "Business Model and Mapping" layer between different data source)
6) drag and drop TBC, TBC_ASO, testdb from "Business Model and Mapping" layer to Presentation Layer.

Check what are your settings under tools-> Embedded OC4J Preferences in the datasource node.

Help on installing BIEE 11g on Linux(Ubuntu 32bits)

Im trying for 3 days and i get the same error on pre-requisites

i dont know how to fix it...

but on configuration, it freezes on creating domain ( the 1st on configuration ) im waiting for 2hours and nothing
anyone know how to solve it? prerequisites first
i watch on site to download compat-db-4.2.52-5.1.i386.rpm , but isnt compatible whit my OS

The prerequis verification of the installer will check all package. With an Oracle Database 11g installed, you need only to install one package (compat-db-4.1.25-9) that you can get from yum of from the installation DVD.
On yum, I found the package compat-db-4.2.52-5.1.i386.rpm that I have copied and installed from the tmp directory.

First of all, Ubuntu is not supported.

You may have to install it on OEL or Redhat.
Second, have you installed your database ?

1) Please tel me is it good practice to turn on archivelog. also tel me cases where it is good.As you already hint with your second question, this really depends on what you are doing with your database and what availability requirements you have. There are other options for backups, of course. Instead of explaining all pros and cons of all options (this really has been done in certain other sources you could read if you really want to) you could simply describe your scenario and we'll see if using archive log is a good choice for it.
2) to turn on ARCHIVELOG , with which command i should connect.I quote the manual I've referenced:
To turn on ARCHIVELOG mode:
Using the SQL Command Line, log in to the database and connect as SYSDBA, as described in [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/server.112/e18804/users_secure.htm#CHDBBFBF]Logging In and Connecting to the Database as SYSDBA.
Follow the manual, and you'll find the answer to your question.

10g RMAN backup in 11g

1. Have installed 11.1.0.1 and upgraded that to 11.2.0.1. Have taken a cold rman golden backup of database files without any data.
2. Now doing a cloning to another server. Copied the oracle home 11.2.0.1.
3.Unfortunately the datafiles backup mountpoint got corrupted and lost the cold rman backup files.
4. Is that clone of 11.1.0.1 datafiles to 11.2.0.1 oracle home can be done??

do you mean are you looking to use 11.1 database in 11.2 oracle home? if so you need to upgrade database..
