So it happened! i had a lame experience with the jailbreak'd iPod and i wanted to restore till my last backup and it's not working as the title says.I didn't updated the iPod when i jailbreak'd it.
So how can i fix this -_-

my problem is with I cloud not iTunes what's up with apple haven't they got the brains to sort out this prob, that they have to let the "community " know instead of helping to fix the problem without having to go through all the hassle of signing in writing a small blog & then leaving it until someone bored with time to write their blog to at some point fix the prob or not ! oh nearly forgot my prob like

On a Mac your backups are in /Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
(Open Finder, hold the Option key, and select "Library" from the Go menu to get to your user's Library folder.)
In Windows, the fastest way to get to your backup folders is:
    - (Windows 7 and below) Start -> Run -> type %appdata% (with the percents) and press return.
    - (Windows 8) Search -> type %appdata% (with the percents) and press return.
From Application Data, navigate to Apple Computer, Inc. -> MobileSync -> Backup.
You can match your device identifier with the backup folder name by clicking on the Serial Number field in iTunes (which will switch it to your device identifier.) Delete (or rename, if you're worried about making a mistake) the folder with the matching identifier.
I know this thread is about a corrupt backup blocking updating the backup process, but in case anyone is having a corrupt backup blocking a restore (a much scarier problem,) and you don't have the original device/data to make a new backup, I hope you'll take a look at the information I've been writing about fixing backups on my company's blog:
    http://deciphertools.com/blog/2014_07_11_itunes_could_not_restore_backup_corrupt /
We have been looking at fixing the corrupted backups, which may be helpful for you!

  • Backup Corrupt? iOS 8 Upgrade, Lost everything!

    Hello!
So two days ago i was about to upgrade to iOS 8 from iOS 7  so i went ahead onto my mac and made a backup and restored my phone updated to ios 8 and tried to restore the backup. Now, it got to about half an inch from the end of restoring from backup and then it said "Iphone could not be restored backup corrupt or not compatible with iphone" ? I know computers are not perfect and im pretty sure there is nothing i can do about this but i downloaded a program called "Wondershare Dr Phone" and sure enough i could view all my pictures and all app data on that backup on this program but as soon as i clicked the restore button i was informed i had to pay £64 to buy the program! I have soooo many pictures i need from that backup and i was wondering if anyone knows a free program that is the same or if i cant somehow extract the pictures and videos?
    Thank you for reading!

Same issue on my Ipad2 since updateing to iOS 8. Cell service drops, goes to No Service despite going in and out of airplane mode, going into settings and turning cell service off and back to on... The only "fix" is to do a reset and let the system restart. All of this is in an area with a solded history of good cell service and the device has never done this before.
I Would recommend to those who have not done this update on their iPad 2 to hold off if they rely on their iPad's cell service Until Apple fixes this glitch.
Also, spell check *****! There is no way I typed "solded" in the above sentence...

  • Backup corrupted/incompatible. Is there anyway to get contacts/notes back??

I had 2.0.1 backup, but restored my iPhone today without upgrading to 2.0.2 and backup base on that firmware. I believe that's the reason why I could not restore my 2.0.1 backup because iTune shows 2.0.2 firmware while backup file is dated 2.0.1. Anyway, everytime I tried to backup it gives me the "file is either corrutped or not compatible with current version". So is there anyway I can get my old contacts and notes back? I heard it's not possible to downgrade to 2.0.1 from 2.0.2.

Assuming you synced before you restored, your Contacts will be synced again after you restore, from the original source (Outlook, Address Book, Yahoo, etc.).
The notes are not backed up in any other way, and those are gone, I'm afraid...

  • Why is my ipod touch saying "backup corrupt or not compatible" error message?

My iPod touch has been fine for years and I only really add new music sporadically. Now I am getting an error message saying that it cannot back up my iPod because it is corrupt or not compatible with the iPod. I have already done a factory reset and it still has not fixed the issue.

Did you try deleting the existing backup?
iTunes>Preferences>Devices and select that backup and click on Delete?

  • Time Machine backups corrupt or external hard drive failure?

My goal today was to upgrade my MacBook Pro's HD, and to restore my system from my latest Time Machine backup which resides on an external hard drive. I installed the new hard drive, formatted it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and selected Restore System From Backup from Utilities. The system restore was five minutes form finishing when I received an error that the system restore could not be completed, and that I should restart my machine and try again. I did as instructed, but once the system restore process began, the screen went gray, and I was told that the Snow Leopard install could not be completed.
Before beginning the process a third time, I ran Disk Utility from the Snow Leopard install disc and attempted to verify and repair the external (Time Machine) hard drive. The Time Machine hard drive could not be verified, nor could it be repaired. I popped in the old hard drive into my MacBook Pro, booted Snow Leopard, and ran Disk Utility, and tried again repairing the Time Machine hard drive. Here is the log of the error I received:

Do these errors indicate that my Time Machine backups located in the Backups.backupdb are corrupt, or is the external hard drive corrupt and failing?
The Time Machine backups are on a Maxtor OneTouch, and from what I've read, they're prone to an early demise. I've also recently noticed that my Time Machine backups started slowing. For example, I would plug in my external hard drive and if 1.3GB needed to be backed up, it would stall at 300 MB before jumping to 700 MB, stall again, then jump to 900 MB. That could be a sign of a failing hard drive, correct? If the external hard drive is failing, I can purchase a new eternal hard drive then copy the Backups.backupdb to the new hard drive, correct?
However, if Backups.backupdb is corrupt, then from what I understand, I would have to start fresh. I would prefer to not start fresh unless there's no other option, as I would be losing almost three years worth of Time Machine backups.
    Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

It's possible a heavy-duty 3rd-party utility such as +Disk Warrior+ can fix that. It's about $100, and there's no guarantee, but it's probably a good investment for the future.

The structure of the file system is damaged.
That may have been caused by the disk beginning to fail, but there's no way to tell for sure until you erase and reformat the disk and try to use it.

It could, but it could also be whatever's wrong with the file structure.
If the external hard drive is failing, I can purchase a new eternal hard drive then copy the Backups.backupdb to the new hard drive, correct?
No. You can't copy corrupted backups. They're all linked together, like a database, so if anything's damaged, the whole set is suspect, and can't be copied.
There are a couple of options:
If the disk is physically ok, and the directory damage was recent, you might be able to restore from an earlier backup. But since you noticed problems some time ago, the damage may not be recent.
Or, you might be able to get up and running by just installing OSX from your SL Install disk (and the 10.6.5 "combo" update). You'll be missing whatever wasn't restored in that last 5 minutes or so. Things are restored in the same order they're listed by the Finder, so it will be the last things in the last user account. You should be able to figure out where it stopped, check or delete the very last file (likely incomplete) and selectively restore as many of the remaining things as you can, via the "Star Wars" display.
Just to make things more difficult, if the disk is failing, the more you use it, the more likely it is to get worse or fail completely.
So your safest bet may be to install OSX, then download and install the 10.6.5 "combo" update. Info and download available at: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1324 Be sure to do a +Repair Permissions+ via Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder) afterwards. Then recover what you can.

  • Im getting backup corrupt after being told by apple to go to 6.1.1 due tothe known battery issues. Anyone know why this might be happening?

Hi all, I recently went to 6.1 and immediately experienced the well publicised issue with battery drain. Rang Apple, followed their recommendations, perform backup, then wipe the phone, then set up as new on 6.1.1, drain battery to zero, then charge for 8 to 10 hours.  Then restore from backup.  Except first time doing it it said that there was not sufficient memore on the PC, (12gig is free), and now its saying itunes could not restore as either the backup is corrupt or not compatible with the iphone bing restored, thats not the case as its the same iphone.  Does anyone have any thoughts or am i in trouble!!

If the backup is corrupt, there is nothing that can be done with that backup.
    Restore as new.
All of your content should be in iTunes, simply sync it back.

  • IPhone Backup Corrupt

    Hey guys,
I am having a backup/restore NIGHTMARE right now.
I have a 16gb iPhone 4s and the original backup was done in iTunes10 on Windows Vista. Since then I have updated to iTunes 11 hoping that would help. Here is what I have done so far step by step.
    1) My16gb iphone gives me about 13.5gb of usable space. Of that 13.5gb of space 6gb was taken up by "other" so I began my mission to reduce the amount of content "other" took up on my phone.
    2) The forums told me that cache and other unneeded files were contained within the "other" section and that I should do a backup and restore to reduce this. (this sounds really stupid to me now but seemed like it was worth a try at the time)
    3) At 1:40am I noticed my last backup was 2 hrs old. (I constantly sync my phone to my computer via itunes & have no icloud backups). So I backed up again using the "Sync" button in iTunes before using the "Update & Restore" function in a version of iTunes 10.
    4) After my phone updated my iOS and took 45min going through the "Restore" portion of the process, it counted down to the last seconds and then gave the message "iTunes could not restore the iPhone "WesHype's iPhone" because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone that is being restored."
    5) I thought the next best thing would be restoring from that backup that was made at 11:30pm however it was not on the drop down list. I checked in "Edit/ Preferences / Devices" however the only back ups that were their was a year old backup of my old iphone, a 6month old backup of my ipod and a backup named "WesHype's iPhone - Jul 21, 2013, 2:06 AM" Now 2:06 is the time that I tried to restore the phone and despite the name, in the right column it says the backup is from 1:40am. This is obviously a copy of the corrupt backup.
    6) I tried to restore this backup several times and even upgraded my iTunes to the newest version. Each time restored a new backup appeared with an updated time/date after "WesHype's iPhone" however it was just a copy of the same. Apparently all previous backups have been overwritten.
    7) I began ripping through the files located in "/ Users / WesHype / App Data / Roaming / Apple Computers / MobileSync / Backup" in the "Library" folder there is a folder called "SMS" which seems to contain a lot of the pictures I have sent and received.
I am convinced it is only a small portion of this backup that is "corrupt" I have experimented with several tools that allow me to view my files but want me to pay to extract them. The problem is although pictures and videos would be nice to retrieve the MAIN thing I need is all my txt messages imported back into the phone the way it was before.(not to a cvs or other txt document like the programs are trying to sell me)
Im in sales. I have tons of customers with whom my relationship depends on my ability to pull up our previous conversations. My contacts were sync'd to outlook so these text messages are the ONLY thing of extreme importance to me. Is there anyway I can retrieve these text conversations from these 12,000+ random files in the backup folder and import them back into my device? Or ideally repair the whole backup somehow?
    Thanks,
    Wes

    Wes,
First thing I'd like to suggest: Edit your post so that your personal informationin the screenshots isn't showing (like your Serial # & IMEI #).  Just for your protection.
Secondly, I don't know of any official way to do what you're suggesting.  You mentioned some thrid-party apps that will convert them to text files.  You might have to bite the bullet and get them recovered that way, and then just forward them to yourself via email.  That way, you can still access them for customers.
Hopefully, someone else has a better solution for you, but I can't think of anything.
