Backup Device not being "put away" properly.

I use a WD 1TB hard drive for my time machine backups. It's designed to sleep with and wake up with my mac. Now, whenever, I close the lid of my mac without ejecting the time machine drive, I always get an error message that "Data in the disk might be corrupted as the disk was not put away properly". What should I do to ensure that this message does not appear?
In Windows, I used to disable "Write Behind Cache" for that disk. Is there something like that here? I'm new to mac. Please help.

I would suggest you unmount the disk (drag it to the trash - no it won't be deleted!) before closing the lid.

    HI Friends

Delivery has not been put away/picked completly.
E VL 609 is the message.please help me in this regards.
    Thanks& Regards

    Hi
I hope, while creating the Billing document, you are getting the error and not during Delivery creation.
You have to check from the document flow, up to which activity you hvae completed.
If the status of the "WM Transfer order" is  "Open", then you need tp confirm the Transfer order through LT12.
Then ensure that you have completed the PGI, before creating the Billing document.

  • Firewire devices not being recognized by MBP

    Hello
I just purchased a MacBook Pro which I have a 20" cinema display connected to. I have an external Firewire drive and an iFire plugged into the Firewire ports on the back of Cinema Display but they are not being recognized by my MBP. If I plug the external drive directly into the Firewire port on the MBP it is recognized but is not when connected to the Cinema Display. Anyone have any ideas? I just migrated from a G5 and these same devices were connected to the Cinema Display then.
    Thanks

    Hey dmar713,
The iPod touch requires USB 2.0, check the speed of the USB port.

If the USB port is not causing the issue, it may be an application conflict.

  • Is anyone using VMware fusion and having trouble with USB devices not being recognised

I have an Terratec Axon AX50 Guitar to Midi interface. The editor software is not Lion compatible so I have attempted to run that bit in Windows 7 on a virtual machine.
The problem is that the VM machine will not recognise the USB device, even though when it asks which machine I want to connect to it names the device correctly.
    Any Ideas ?

  • Qosmio F10 - USB devices not being recognised properly

    Hi there,
I've been having major problems with the USB ports of my Qosmio F10. When ever I try to plug in a USB device, the F10 recognises there is something there, but always categorises it as an unknown device. For example, everytime I try to attach a USB mouse, it does not instantly recognise it, even after previously having gone into the device manager and manually installing a driver.
This has been the case since I bought the laptop 5 months ago, but I cant ignore it any longer.
    I have already tried :
    - uninstalling all USB controller and hub drivers and reinstalling
    - making sure that power save for the usb devices was not ticked
-ticking "install software anyway" in the driver signing options
When I open up device manager my USB looks like this
    - Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Controller - 24CD
    - Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Serial Host Controller - 24C2
    - Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Serial Host Controller - 24C4
    - Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Serial Host Controller - 24C7
    -USB Root Hub
    -USB Root Hub
    -USB Root Hub
    -USB Root Hub
Any help on this is much appreciated as its driving me nuts :-)

    Hi
I agree with Jack. You have suggested that the USB devices were recognized but as an unknown device. In this case the device drivers are needed.
Which USB devices did you connect?
Sometimes some USB devices cannot be recognised properly because of the low power of the USB ports. If the USB device needs more power than 500mA standard power the OS could has some problems with the recognition.
In this case you need a external power supply or a USB hub with the power supply.

  • Phatnoise Mass USB Storage Device : Not being detected anymore by my Mac...

Basically as the title says really.
It worked perfectly fine a few months ago and now nothing at all.
When I plug the USB lead in it used to be recognized straight away.
I have tried rebooting my Mac with the device already connected and that still has not solved the problem.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

Regardless of what problems you do or don't have, you need to have a backup. These computers are mechanical beasts and can fail at any time.
That being said, if I was in your place I'd try going back to 10.5.6 to see if things keep working. If you have your original install discs (if the machine came with Leopard) or the Leopard disc you used to upgrade, you could try doing an Archive & Install, and once that completes, install the 10.5.6 combo update.
If things work well there, you could just stay at 10.5.6. If you want to further test things, upgrade to 10.5.7 again and make sure you use the combo update from Apple's download page. If the 10.5.7 update breaks things again, you may want to contact the manufacturer and let them know so they can look into things.
Hope that helps--sorry for being a bit long-winded. If you have more questions, feel free to ask!

  • Backups are not being started....volumes do not exist?

I am having issues where backup jobs are not getting started/completed.
I can see in the "jobs" report that there are many attempts (sometimes 50+) to run the job, but it never completes.
I believe the OSB software is looking for a volume that does not exist in the tape library. It's possible that they may have existed at one time (though I'm not sure), but I've run inventory several times and for what ever reason it does not exist anymore. I do not see anything in the "manage->location report ->missing" reports. I've looked in obcleanup and nothing is listed there either.
Is OSB really looking for a volume that doesn't exist, or is something else going on?

"device reported incorrect serial number" is the key here.
Your device is misconfigured and the entry for its serial number doesn't match the serial number being reported by the scsi enquiry. Has a drive been replaced? If the drives have swtiched order due to a reboot then I suggest you use /dev/tape/by-id as your attach points rather than direct /dev/sg entries.

  • USB storage devices not being recognised

    Product:
13" Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display (Late 2013 model)
    OS X Yosemite (version 10.10.2)
    2.4GHz i5, 8gb 1600 MHz DDR3, 256gb HDD
    Issue:
    - macbook unable to recognise USB storage devices.
    - can be found on disk utility but 'greyed out'.
    - cannot be found under devices in finder.
    - tried restarting laptop, no effect.
    - additional storage via Nifty + 64gb micro SD is working fine.
    - apple products (iPod/iPhone/iPad) and printer/scanner working fine, only storage devices appear to be affected.
    - USB-ethernet adapter appears to be working w/o problems too.
    - last technical thing done to the computer was SMC reset 5 days ago for power cable light not working properly (fixed with reset).
    Hello everyone,
I seem to having some issues with my macbook and the ability to use USB storage devices. The SD card slot appears to be working fine as I have a nifty device attached on. I'm not sure exactly when this started to happen but it was working last week for sure.
I've put some succinct notes above for anyone who is willing to help out and is able to use it to determine the problem but I don't think it's a hardware issue. Maybe it's a bug with the new OS X update over the weekend?
I've attached a screenshot of the disk utility below as well.
If anyone could help me out then that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Some users on another Apple thread had success in running Kext Utility last November with similar issues.
I ran kext utility 2.6.1, restarted my computer and everything was working again.

  • Boot drive failed; external backup drive not being seen

I've had a Windows Server 2012 Essentials machine (6 drives + 1 external USB 3TB dedicated backup) running fine for over a year now.  The system backup was configured through the Essentials Dashboard, the backup drive was found automatically by
Windows without any custom drivers, and was successfully backing up as scheduled.  A few days ago, the server rebooted for an update, and started blue-screening early on during the boot.  Using the install media, I went to the restore facility, but
the dedicated external USB backup drive isn't being found (the restore list is empty).  I tried using other USB ports (they all work, as tested with the keyboard), but the backups on it still aren't showing.  Moving the backup drive to a nearby Windows
8.1 machine, it shows up correctly in the Disk Manager (the name is correct; no drive letter assigned, as expected).  From the system-recovery command-line on the server, wbadmin get drives show it, but as [not mounted].
What should my next steps be?  Is it safe to mount it to a drive letter on the Windows 8.1 machine and share it out, or will that irreparably damage the backups?  Is there something obvious I'm missing?  Why isn't the Windows Server 2012 Essentials
install media's repair functionality finding it (this should be a no-brainer, right?)?
The drive in question is a Seagate model SRD00F2.
    Thanks!

    1. What updates has been installed. See info in WindowsUpdate.log.
    2. Hope you has not installed optional drivers. It this is true try to return back or reinstall drivers from server vendor support page (perhaps support for USB 3)
    3. What do Event lods and Device Manager say?

The reboot was overnight (about 4am) on Sunday, 2014-04-13.  It was for the latest updates from Microsoft at that time (so the prior Tuesday's batch; see below for the details from WindowsUpdate.log).
No optional drivers installed, other than the motherboard ones at initial system load.  They've been running great for a year or so now.  They weren't part of the update.
Not possible to check.  Trying to boot into safe mode also blue screens fairly early on during boot (about 15-20 seconds; same error).  Boot logging never generates a log because it doesn't get far enough to dump to disk.

  • Audio-MIDI setup not opening?  MIDI device not being seen?

    Hello,
I have a big MIDI problem never seen before - just put a new drive into a G5 PPC Quad - I outfitted and loaded up this drive in a G5 dual machine before the Quad came, and everything ran smoothly - logic, MIDI, audio, etc. Now that the G5 Quad's here, that same drive stalls when opening the Audio-MIDI setup and never gets past "looking" for things. Similarly, if I try and open logic, it goes through all the steps until "checking for MIDI drivers" where it just hangs, never to open...I tried reinstalling via the custom install the Unitor drivers from the Logic CD - same problem.
The drive is 250GB SATA, installed OSX 10.4.10, Logic 7.2.3, latest proapps 4.0.1 and other software, hooked up via USB to a Unitor8, FF800 for audio, G5 Quad 2.5Ghz PPC.
Any help is much appreciated - we need this machine as our main sequencer!!
    thanks-

Install the Midi driver first before switching on the Midi-Interface,
then after check for the latest up-date on the Driver,
Then Re-boot Machine, plug in Interface and good luck,
Check to see if the CABLE is plugged in properly.
Not sure if this is the same as what you've got,

  • HT1386 When I try to sync changes from my playlist to my iphone the sync process gets to step 7, applying changes and then freezes up, the changes are not being put on my iphone. What do I do to correct this issue?

When I try to sync changes from my playlist on the computer to my iphone the sync process gets as far as step 7, applying changes, then freezes up and the changes are not getting to my iphnoe.  How do I fix this issue?

Are all these songs associated with the same Apple ID or were some purchased on another account?
Are they tagged properly? In the library does it break an album out into several different albums with a few tracks each?
Check your sync settings for each device. Do you accidentally have only certain songs/albums syncing?

  • Why, since upgrading to iTunes 11, are my devices not being recognised on my MacBook Pro?

Since upgrading to iTunes 11, my devices (iPhone and iPad) are not syncing or being recognised when connected to power. Now for wifi syncing, I have to disconnect the devices from power before they are available on my MacBook Pro. Any ideas? This is really weird.

Turning off the Search entire library has helped

  • The FIX for FireWire Devices not being found.

If you have FireWire devices connected to your iMac that are no longer being recognized, this post is for you.
    1. Power off your iMac
    2. Unplug all USB and Firewire cables from the iMac.
    3. Unplug the iMac from the main power.
    4. Wait 4 minutes
    5. Reconnect and power on.
    6. Devices will be found as you'd normally expect.
Somehow, four minutes without any kind of power resets the Firewire interface so that it will work again.

    1. Power off your iMac
    2. Unplug all USB and Firewire cables from the iMac.
    3. Unplug the iMac from the main power.
    4. Wait 4 minutes
    5. Reconnect and power on.
    6. Devices will be found as you'd normally expect.
On step five, you say 'reconnect and power on'. Does this mean I should turn on my external device and connect before I turn the iMac on?
As for my ports being blown, I don't think that's the problem for me. My iPod easily mounts on firewire. And this device mounts on my other machines that use 10.3 panther.
Sorry if it sounds like I'm trying to hyjack this topic, it sounds like you've got a good method and I want to utilize it properly!

  • External CD device not being acknowledge by Apple laptop

    Hi there,
I have just purchased PSE12 on DVD for my Apple Laptop.  This laptop does not have an internal CD/DVD reader/writer so I purchased a LG Super Multi several years ago and have successfully installed several CD programs.  However, now the laptop doesn't even acknowledge the presence of this device.  My PC (not apple) confirms the unit is working correctly.  Not sure what to do now.
    Macbook Pro OS X version 10.8.5, 2.6 GHz core i7, 16GB memory.
    I will appreciate any advice.
    Kind regards,
    Sally

Thank you Barbara, I was going to do this if I couldn't find another
solution. Although I didn't really want to do this because the file size is
2.59GB and I have terrible internet service (no city benefits of ADSL
    here).
There must be a reason why the external device is no longer being
recognised by the laptop.  I guess I need to investigate further.  Any
    other suggestions?
    Regards,
    Sally
