Backup email to iCloud

I am away from home and want to backup my bigpond emails to iCloud... So that can delete them from my iPad, but need them for legal reasons..
Sorry if this sounds dumb, but, if I create an iCloud email account, does my email still come to my bigpond email address, ie: I don't have to go to iCloud to get new mail?
Any help greatly appreciated...

iCloud doesn't backup up your email, it should be on your email host's server.  If not, you would have to contact them to see if they maintain a backup.  iCloud only keeps iCloud email, and it is maintained on iCloud's email server.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
What do you mean by back up email, do you mean verification email.

  • I forgot my password to my icloud account and forgot my security question. I also believe I have no backup email, What can I do?

You need to ask Apple to reset your account information. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

  • HT204074 What is the advance email under icloud settings on an ipad 3

I Added the wrong icloud.com email address under the advance option under the icloud section on the ipad,  but I used the correct apple I'd on the first page that shows daa plans and such, but at the bottom of the page it has an advanced option, I added my friends email address that I gave the ipad to, he is my roomie. Everything will go to my apple I'd, that's the way I want to keep it, but what is the advanced option for anyway, a backup email address? I logged on to apple and my account and deleted it from my profile but it is still on my ipad a gave to my room mate. I have been looking for information on this option and can not find out anything good that helps explain this feature in the new iOS 6.
CAn some help explain ths please before I mess something up...to be clear, I am using my apple I'd for everything, it's just the advanced option I might have messed up, it has an icloud.com address. Should the icloud.com be my apple I'd with the icloud.com added to it?
i Hope this explains my screwup, got a little thrown off when the setup screen for the new iOS started. I guess what is important is what is the icloud.com for anyway, besides replacing the .me and the .mac.
will it be ok for my room mate to keep it, I have his emails added and my apple I'd everywhere else.
any info would be great guys...thanks

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

  • Passwords prompted for random eMails upon iCloud back up? Bizarre.

My iPhone was stolen several weeks ago and I considered it long gone.  However, yesterday I received a call from someone who saw my name in the "Lost my iPhone" feature with my contact information.  The guy claimed he bought it from craigslist and didn't know it was stolen until he got home and that's when he contacted me.  I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my problem but I thought I should mention it.
Awesome! I got my iPhone 6 64GB back, which I am grateful for.  HOWEVER, I tried backing up my last iCloud (WiFi) backup and immediately after entering my iCloud account and password information I am prompted to enter a password for a random email/iCloud account.  I forgot exactly what the prompt asks for, I cannot replicate the issue for you guys (you'll see why).  It was something about apps purchased the with these accounts and I have to enter the password to recover the content.  Below the prompt there is a "Skip" button and I clicked this.  Immediately after that email another icloud account is prompted and again I clicked skip.  This happened another dozen times and I gave up. Some of the emails appeared randomly generated while others seemed legit and one name appeared multiple time in different variations. The bizarre part is when I was prompted for a password for the email "[email protected]" and I then considered these were just randomly selected/generated emails. So I instead reverted to an older iTunes backup on my desktop which worked just fine but was missing a lot of my newer content.
The next day (Today) I decided to try again and after several skips I called Apple support when the FBI prompt appeared.  The support agent had no idea what was going on, as usual, not competent and just following his flow chart while I try to solve the problem my self.  While he was "finding the solution" I kept hitting the skip button and after 40 emails my iPhone finally restored and I hung up on the guy.
Cool, I solved the problem. BUT while my iPhone was restoring, downloading all of the apps, my battery started to drain.  It was taking unusually long and when I tried to view my pictures they were all white.  It usually takes about 20 minutes to restore everything. My iPhone 6 soon died and I plugged it into the outlet.  When it turned back on with 4% I started reviewing all all of my snapchats and missed instagram notifications and it died again.  I thought this was strange but considered it was because it was downloading all of my content, even though this never happened before. When it turned back on with a decent charge I started using it, it died again.  This happened 4 times.  I eventually switched lightning cables but this wasn't the problem.  The 5th or 6th time the device died and never turned back on. When I push the sleep/wake button a drained battery appears with 3 blinking red lines AND the blinking lightning cable.  I let it charge for an hour and tried powering it on but the same screen appears.  I unplugged it and attempted to hard reset it but it just powers off only to power on with the same screen.  I decided to let it die and try charging it again but it's been over an THREE HOURS and it still has NOT died. Normally if this was the case it would die in under 5 minutes of my continually powering it on. But instead the same drained battery screen appears.  Oh yeah, I updated it to the latest operating system when I restored the iTunes back up.
    What is the problem???

    Hello Richard,
it sounds like you have a lot of space being taken up in your Sent folder but are unable to successfully delete them from your iOS device. You can also delete the emails from www.icloud.com as well, since deleting a huge number of emails can be difficult on an iPhone.
    iCloud: Delete email
    Delete messages
Select one or more messages, then do any of the following:
Click the Move to Trash button in the toolbar.
If you don’t see the Move to Trash button in the toolbar, choose Preferences from the Action pop-up menu , click General, then turn off “Show Archive icon in the toolbar.”
Press the Delete or Backspace key.
Drag messages to the Trash in the sidebar.
To select several adjacent messages, click the first one, then Shift-click the last one. To select multiple nonadjacent messages, Command-click them on a Mac or Control-click them on a Windows computer.
    Erase messages immediately and permanently
You can have iCloud Mail permanently and immediately erase messages when you delete them, instead of storing them in the Trash for 30 days.
Choose Preferences from the Action pop-up menu  in the sidebar.
In the General pane, deselect “Move deleted messages to,” then click Done.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Advanced email in icloud account

I have an iPad and an iPhone both using the same Apple ID. The problem I have is my son's Apple ID, which is also an icloud email address shows in the advanced email within icloud. I have the basic 5gb storage in order to back up both devices which is plenty of storage. When I try to backup my devices it states I do not have enough space and I suspect this is because of the advanced email address. Firstly would this be reason for the lack of space and if so how can I remove the advanced email in icloud. This has been like this for 3 or 4 months now and it is very frustrating? Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

The Advance settings are options on how deleted messages should behave. You cannot directly delete messages from there.
Read the link fully and save the messages then delete the messages to save space in iCloud.

  • HT202667 I cannot change prime email address into what WAS my backup email address. Any solutions?

Need to change prime email address into what WAS my backup email address.
    Can this be done?
Mac 10.6 Intel Core 2 Duo

    Hi michaelfromripley,
Thanks for the question.  If you first change your rescue email address to a different email address, then you should be able to change your primary email address for your Apple ID.  The following resources will explain more:
Manage your Apple ID primary, rescue, alternate, and notification email addresses - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201356
Add, change, or delete the several types of email addresses you can use with your Apple ID account.
    Primary email address
Every Apple ID account has one primary email address, and that address is your Apple ID. When you create an Apple ID, you enter the primary address to use as your Apple ID.
Your primary address is also the contact email address for your account. Check it regularly, because it receives email that you need to manage your account. For example, before you can use a new or changed Apple ID, you need to verify it as directed in a verification email that Apple sends to that address. Didn't receive the email?Rescue email address
A rescue address helps secure your Apple ID account against unauthorized access by someone who gains control of your primary address. If you have a rescue address, it receives all security-related Apple ID email instead of your primary address, including the email needed to reset your password or security questions.
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com).
Select “Manage your Apple ID” and sign in.
Select “Password and Security” on the left side of the page. You may be asked to answer one or more security questions before continuing. Forgot the answers?
If you see a list of three security questions, your account has the option to use a rescue address.
Accounts that have fewer than three questions don't have and don't need a rescue address.
Accounts that use two-step verification don't have and don't need a rescue address or security questions.
    Add a rescue address:
Select Add Email Address, then enter your rescue address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address. If you don't verify the address, security-related email continues to go to your primary address.
    Edit a rescue address:
Select Edit next to the address, then enter the new address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address. If you don't verify the address, security-related email continues to go to your primary address.
Delete a rescue address: Select Delete next to the address.
    Alternate email address
You can add one or more alternate email addresses for use with Apple services such as Game Center, FaceTime, Find My Friends, iMessage, and OS X notifications.
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com).
Select “Manage your Apple ID” and sign in.
    Add an alternate address:
Select Add Email Address, then enter your alternate address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address.
    Edit an alternate address:
Select Edit next to the address, then enter the new address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address.
Delete an alternate address: Select Delete next to the address.
    Notification email address
A notification address is automatically added to your account in certain circumstances:
If you have a rescue address and turn on two-step verification, that address automatically becomes your notification address. With two-step verification, you don't need a rescue address.
If you provide an email address with your shipping information when you purchase from the Apple Online Store, that address automatically becomes your notification address.
Your primary address receives a copy of all Apple ID email that Apple sends to your notification address.
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com).
Select “Manage your Apple ID” and sign in.
    Edit a notification address:
Select Edit next to the address, then enter the new address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address.
Delete a notification address: Select Delete next to the address.

Change your Apple ID - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202667
Learn how to change the email address that you use as your Apple ID.
In most cases, your Apple ID is also the primary email address of your Apple ID account. You can change your Apple ID to any other email address you control, as long as it's not already in use as an Apple ID. If your email address ends with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com, it's already an Apple ID.
Use these steps to reset your Apple ID:
Sign out of iCloud, the iTunes Store, App Store, FaceTime, Find My Friends, Find My iPhone, and iMessage on each device that uses your current Apple ID for these services.
    Go to My Apple ID.
Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in. Forgot your password?
Select Edit next to Apple ID and Primary Email Address.
Enter the email address that you want to use as your Apple ID, then select Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that address.
Open the email from Apple, then click Verify Now. Didn't receive the email?
When the My Apple ID page opens, sign in with your new Apple ID email address and password. When you see a message that verification is complete, you can start using your updated Apple ID.
Update the features and services that you use with Apple ID, so that each one is using your updated Apple ID.
If you need to change the Apple ID that's signed in to your iOS device, use these steps to sign out, then back in with a different Apple ID.

My phone some how deleted not all but most of my contacts and then backup to the iCloud can I go back to a previous backup and retrieve the contacts. If so how.

    Hi Shero89,
Thanks for the answer.  I am not new to IOS software but I don't really ever bother with it, have discovered how little I take advantage of the i-phones capability, in reality I still only really use it to phone, text, check emails, listen to music and look on internet.  I'm not keen on jailbreaking it as I don't trust it to work so normally just update and leave it at that.  Only reason I wanted to downgrade was because the update had stopped my bluetooth working but Kilted Tim solved that problem for me so am now not interested in downgrading software.  I quite liked the things that IOS 5.1 gave me but wasn't happy with fact that bluetooth stopped working in car as it caused me problems.  One day I might try and work out exactly what I-phones can do but on the basis that it's a phone all I really want it to do is phone, if that bit works I'm happy.

  • Cannot send email from icloud account from mac

cannot send email from icloud account from mac running 10.8.2

The SMTP server you are using with Wi-Fi would be the outgoing server of your internet service provider... this is likely why that's working.
SMTP servers specific to a ISP would not work on the 3G network. You would probably need another SMTP server. One from your cell provider?

  • HT201342 cannot get email from icloud account

Incoming email on iCloud not working all of a sudden.
Followed trouble shooting guide... not working

I assume that though your signature says you are running 10.4.8 you are actually running Lion or Mountain Lion? If so please amend the signature to prevent confusion.
Go to System Preferences>iCloud and uncheck Mail in the list there: then re-check it. This should set Mail up again to access the account. If this doesn't work, sign out completely, reboot, then sign back in again. You iCloud data will disappear from your Mac but reappear when you sign back in.

  • How do i use my .mac email with iCloud?

I had a .mac account with mobile me which i switched over to iCloud when prompted. I just receently bought a brand new iMac and want to use my .mac email in the apple Mail program but it's not working. I'm assuming the "type" of email is iCloud. Any suggestions on how to get it up and running?

Don't try to set it up in the Mail program. Go to System Preferences>iCloud and sign in with your @me.com email address. Check Mail in the checklist there, and any other data types you want to sync.  Mail will be set up automatically and both the @me.com and @mac.com versions of your address should work.

  • I changed my apple id email address to try jumpstart my account to send me a verification email for iCloud activation.  It worked but now I cannot change back to my original email address.  It says its in use.

    Hi Guys
I am writing this on behalf of a friend of mine.  To understand my issue let me explain how it started.  My friend has a apple ID with email address (lets call it) [email protected]  when activating iCloud on her iPhone a email was sent to verify her account.  This was not done and rendered the iCloud feature disabled due to not being activated.  [email protected] is the correct email address and works.  A form of troubleshooting I used the iForgot service to test if the email address was correct and mail flow from apple was working and it worked fine.
I logged into apple id to manage account and resend activation email for iCloud.  this did not send the mail.  I waited 48hrs but to no avail.
I decided to kickstart the account to force it to send to another email address by changing the primary email address from [email protected] to [email protected]  it worked and I verified the address and iCloud is now active.  However now I cannot change the primary email address back to [email protected] as it says its being used by another apple ID.
I then tried iForgot with the [email protected] email address, it says it sent a email to [email protected] but nothing arrived in [email protected] or [email protected]
I have this feeling the [email protected] is stuck I'm memory on my apple ID some how but can't get it to forget [email protected] so that I can use it as my primary email address again.
I have tried to log into iTunes with my original details [email protected] and password but says its incorrect.
any advices in this would be greatly appreciated.

The idea to jumpstart by change was not the smartest one, but gives you an opportunity to use that "temporary" account as permanent. You do not have a choice cause obviously despite you thinking that old account is no more -it does exist on Apple servers. And if you are unwilling to share your [email protected] with friend, just create one extra [email protected] for your friend. One suggestion - do not use gmail.

That article will contain information about which printers are AirPrint compatible, as well as information about how to use AirPrint on your iPad. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • After upgrading my iphone 4S to iOS 7 every time the automatic backup on my iCloud account start it requests to verify my Apple ID password.

Since I updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 7 every day when I put my iPhone in charge and it starts my backup in my iCloud account, it request me to verify my Apple ID password.
Every day I have to put my password to make the backup start.
I have enough space on my account to make the backup.
I have an iPad 4, updated to iOS 7 too, but with it I don't have the same issue when backing up in the iCloud.
I'm only experiencing this issue with the iPhone.
I already tried to restore complitely my iPhone and turned off and on again iCloud.
    Thank you for your help.
    Regards

An update - it was just taking too long to copy all the data again to the phone so I stopped the copy. Then I was able to complete the setup of the phone and most of the data was there -- just not the music I had selected. Not a problem, at least I can make calls.
Next step will be to update the phone again (when I've sufficiently recovered from my annoyance) and add the music I want.
Otherwise, I'm okay with the interface. No big problems.
