Backup Failed-TM buddy logs posted-

Hello All
I absolutely cannot get TM to backup.
I have removed and re added my TM disk for use with TM
deleted plist file
The first log said something in Adobe Contribute couldnt be indexed, so I uninstalled Contribute
Still fails
Here is the latest log
Starting standard backup
Backing up to: /Volumes/Time Machine Backup/Backups.backupdb
Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: Macintosh
Node requires deep traversal:/ reason:kFSEDBEventFlagMustScanSubDirs|kFSEDBEventFlagReasonEventDBUntrustable|
No pre-backup thinning needed: 47.90 GB requested (including padding), 73.21 GB available
Indexing a file failed. Returned -12 for: /Applications/.AdobePatchFiles, /Volumes/Time Machine Backup/Backups.backupdb/Patrick Gleason’s MacBook Pro/2009-02-06-120746.inProgress/63DA7DB4-2F22-425E-A5C2-D13094906896/Macintosh /Applications/.AdobePatchFiles
Aborting backup because indexing a file failed.
Stopping backup.
Copied 0 files (6 KB) from volume Macintosh.
Copy stage failed with error:11
Backup failed with error: 11
25 days since last backup
Every time I try I seem to get a different problem file.
I'm on a MBP, the last run of the old model-with multitouch-running 10.5.6
I connect to my WD Mybook via FW400 to do TM backups
The drive is 750 gb, 2 partitions about 500 general space and 250 for the TM partition. I have had success Backing up for as long as I can remember. No problems until recently.
Any Help is greatly appreciated

This means that something, probably an improper shutdown, caused TM to not be certain the records in the OSX +File System Event database+ match the contents of your hard drive.
Node requires deep traversal:/ reason:kFSEDBEventFlagMustScanSubDirs|kFSEDBEventFlagReasonEventDBUntrustable|
Because of that, TM must do a "deep traversal" -- looking at every file and folder on your HD to determine what needs to be backed-up.
This is not a fatal problem, but the backup will be quite lengthy.
Indexing a file failed. Returned -12 for: /Applications/.AdobePatchFiles
Now that's a problem. That is, by the way, a hidden file (name starting with a dot). For now, the best thing to do is just exclude it from TM and try again, as there may be more problems.
To exclude it, go to TM's Preferences and click+ Options.+
In the next panel, click the plus sign at the bottom, and check Show Invisible items.
In the sidebar of the next panel, select your home folder, then navigate to the file in question.
Select it, click Exclude, then Done.
Then do a +Back Up Now+ from the TM icon in your Menubar.
Because of the UUID problem, your backup will be lengthy.
If there are further problems, post the logs again, and we'll see if there's something else you can do.
If TM runs ok, then you need to figure out what's wrong with the app.

    Hi,
I have Windows Server 2008 R2 Web Edition. Everything was working fine until recently. I tried checking for the log files, but I see that there are no log files that are created now in the location C:\Windows\Logs\WindowsServerBackup. The only files that
are being created recently are of the type mentioned below.
    Wbadmin.1.etl
    WbadminUI.0.etl

    Hi
We have a Windows 2012 server with Exchange 2013, all is working fine except now i am getting issues with the backup.
'Exchange - The application will not be available for recovery from this backup. the consistency check failed for the component Microsoft Exchange Server'
I have checked the database all is fine, i have created a new db and move all mailbox;s over and then removed the old db, i have enabled circular logging and then disabled it, it seems no matter what i do i cannot get a full backup!
i did have to restore the server once and the backups still worked for about 4 days after that and then stopped, i have also tried to remove and re add the backup role!
i am stumped, any advice would be great!

    Hi
Ok, i created a test db and tried to back it up right away, it failed, i did not add any mailbox's to it either. i got quite a few events in the windows logs, as well as the same event above i got the following:

The system is encrypted with Bitlocker, and does not have a TPM. I am also running Carbonite, but I have disabled it and the results are the same.
No data is actually written to the log files either, which is strange. The GUI System Image Backup utility also provides virtually the same error. Any thoughts?

    Hi,
Try to test in WinRE to see what the result is.

in online mode the database works fine, also a full backup...
    Regards,
    Domi

    Hi,
the reason for the problem might be a partially written logpage on a logvolume, or a non-written, but expected logpage. If this page is not found, the logbackup throws the error you received. This should be a very rare error.
In order to solve this, you could try the following:
    1. Then bring the database instance to mode <b>online</b>
    2. Then bring the database instance to mode <b>admin</b>
    3. Clear the log:
    dbmcli -d <SID> -u <controluser>,<controlpasswd> -uUTL <controluser>,<controlpasswd> util_execute clear log
    4. Perform full data backup
    5. Perform log backup
    Regards,
    Roland
P.S.: the clear log command is a 'dangerous' command, please don't use it otherwise.

  • BACKUP failed to complete the command BACKUP DATABASE. Check the backup application log for detailed messages.

    Hi,
We have a back up that is failing.
The error is "BACKUP failed to complete the command BACKUP DATABASE RPS. Check the backup application log for detailed messages.".
As I understand it the backup application log is at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\MSSQL\LOG. From that all I get is
    2014-03-05 14:49:29.41 Backup      Error: 3041, Severity: 16, State: 1.
2014-03-05 14:49:29.41 Backup      BACKUP failed to complete the command BACKUP DATABASE myDb. Check the backup application log for detailed messages.
The command I am using is
    BACKUP DATABASE [MyDb]
    TO  DISK = N'D:\Domains\SQL_Backup\DB\myDb\Mydb_FullBackup_20140305_1100.bak'
WITH NOFORMAT, NOINIT,  NAME = N'mydb-Full Database Backup', SKIP, NOREWIND, NOUNLOAD,  STATS = 10
    GO
The database is Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition (64-bit) Version 9.00.1399.06.
The computer is Windows server 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP2
The Db is 191 Gb and there is 227 Gb available on the D drive where it's being backed up to.
Any thoughts as to how I can track down the problem.
Is the 227Gb of spare disk space big enough to back up a 191 Gb database?
If not how much is needed?
    Thanks

    Hello,
Can you apply latest service pack .I dont know but guess that can be issue.Once faced ,not quite sure. Also can you just make your command like
    BACKUP DATABASE [MyDb]
    TO DISK = 'D:\Domains\SQL_Backup\DB\myDb\Mydb_FullBackup_20140305_1100.bak'
WITH NOFORMAT, NOINIT, STATS = 10
    GO
Just a simple one .Is backup failing immediately or after some time .Error is not so helpful as it does not shows any information

  • Tran log backup fail after setting a DB offline

This is strange.  SQL 2005 SP3 (build 4340).  Full backup job and tran log backup job are separate maint plans/Agent jobs as opposed to multiple steps in one maint plan (don't ask me... I didn't set it up that way.)
I set a database XYZ offline last night at around 9pm.  It was last backed up at 8pm (full recovery mode).  My tran log backup started failing then.  This morning, I detached the database.  Tran log backup job still failing.
I finally realized it had something to do with database XYZ so I re-attached it.  Tran log backup working now.  The weird thing is that XYZ had not been selected only specific databases, and the detached database isn't selected.  I
tried setting to simple recovery mode and doing a final full backup before detaching, but tran log job still fails.  How can I get rid of database XYZ without the tran job failing?  Thanks.

I have encountered this problem. I concur with EA. But you would need to modify the maintenance plan and save it (uncheck and check a database again) to rectify the problem (if you just open the maintenance plan and save it, it will still fail)

    Hi,
You tried to backup redo log on disk.
Option -cds (create second copy, delete and the first copy serial) is not supported when you do a redolog backup using disk as backup device type.
Try to change the option to -sd (save first copy and delete)

    Hi all,
I had the exact same problem
the backup menu item runs :
    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\BIN\backup.bat
when you look at this batchfile you will see the following :
The script assumes that user can connect using "/ as sysdba"when you have OS authentication disabled the batchfile will give the formentioned error
turn OS authentication back on by changing C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\NETWORK\ADMIN\sqlnet.ora
(you could turn it back off after your backup succeeded)

  • Can you please take a look at my TM Buddy log and opine on what the problem is?

    Pondini,
Can you please take a look at my TM Buddy log and opine on what the problem is?  I'm stuck in the "Preparing Backup" phase for what must be hours now.  My last successful backup was this morning at 7:16 am.  I did do a series of Software Update this morning, one of which, a security update I believe, required a restart.
I'm confused as to what the issue is, and how to get everything back to "it just works".
    Many thanks in advance.

Time Machine can't read some data it needs from your backups (each of those date-stamps is one of your backups).
That's usually a problem with the drive itself, but could be the directory on it. First be sure all plugs are snug and secure, then see if you can repair it, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If that doesn't help, post back with the results.  Also either tell us what kind of Mac you have, what version of OSX you're running, or post that to your Profile, so it's accessible.
This is unrelated to the original post here, so I'm going to ask the Hosts to split it off into a new thread.  Since you've posted in the Lion forum, I'll assume that's what you're running.  You should get a notice from them

  • Backup fail on Time Machine and My Passport for Mac on Yosemite

Cannot seem to get Time Machine to do a full backup of my NEW My Passport for Mac.
    I've:
    - Updated firmware on WD external drive (and formatted correctly for Apple)
    - Updated to latest IOS 10.10.3 (Yosemite)
    - Verified and repaired Mac HD via iOS Disk Utility and the WD Drive Utility (no issues found on either)
Error message continues to be "Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to My Passport for Mac. An error occurred while copying files. The problem may be temporary. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk."
I'm backing up about 250 GB and have done this numerous times on my Passport for Mac. Everything SEEMS to be fine during backup, until after about 2-3 hours, into a 4-hour backup, the error message appears without any error codes.
Does anyone have any input?  I don't think it is on the WD side.  Anyone know if there an issue with Time Machine and this external drive?  Help!
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • Scheduled Backup Failed

    Hi All,
I performed database backup and send it as a job using EM. Upon viewing the backup jobs, i found out that the backup failed and the following is the the output log:

I have already doubled the size of the flash_recovery_area and its the same error I am encountering. The above-posted output log is actually the latest one after increasing the size of the flash_recovery_area.
Any response will be highly appreciated.
    Many Thanks,
    Jiggs

    Thanks again Kuljeet!
    Here are the output:
    SQL> show parameter db_recovery_file_dest
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    db_recovery_file_dest string /backup/flash_recovery_area
    db_recovery_file_dest_size big integer 858934592
    SQL> col name for a55
    SQL> select * from v$recovery_file_dest;
    NAME SPACE_LIMIT SPACE_USED
    SPACE_RECLAIMABLE NUMBER_OF_FILES
    /backup/flash_recovery_area 858934592 1750880256
    0 11
It's now obvious that I still need to increase the size of the flash_recovery_area. What is the easiest way of increasing the size aside from using the EM. Am just new in Oracle RDBMS so am still not familiar with all the stuff in this arena.
Also, do you need to delete the archivelog manually after the backup? What we are doing here is backing up the database using EM and check the 'delete archivelog....' portion during the wizard.
    Many Thanks,
    Jiggs

  • ICloud backup failed message

Trying to enable iCloud on my new iPhone, I keep getting a message that states:  iCloud Backup Failed: There was a problem enabling iCloud storage.  Why is this?  Also, I can't seem to sync my Address book contacts to iPhone as well.  Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Same problem here...
I just upgraded my 3GS to iOS5 and signed into iCloud using my Apple ID...
Every time I click "Back Up Now" in the iCloud preferences on the iPhone, I get "There was a problem completing the backup.  Please try again later."
On my wife's iPhone 4, I just performed a back up and there were no errors.  I tried this also on my wife's iPad 2 and it worked perfectly.
    I have tried the following:
    1. In iTunes, when my phone is connected, I selected "Back up to iCloud" on the summary tab
    2. Reset my phone using the steps in the above post
    3. Deleted the iCloud account on my iPhone and logged in again
    4. Tried to backup from 3 different wireless networks
None of the steps above fixed the issue which has been going on all day for me...
Any other help would be great - thanks!
