Backup file corrupted

iPhone will not backup to PC nor to iCloud.  Error msg states that "backup file is corrupt or not compatible with thie iPhone.  Please delete the backup file, and try again."  When I look at backup files there seems to be only one, dated a month ago.

You can find your backup file here:
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
It seems that iTunes lists all of the ones that are in that folder.
I just lost my backup, too. More than a year's worth of settings. I can't find any way of "fixing" the corrupt backup. It seems that photos are gone forever, if they weren't imported into iPhoto, but I did find this software to recover notes, sms, and call logs:
http://homepage.mac.com/vaughn/msync/#VER
The developer seems like kind of a passive aggressive borderline extortionist, but the software seems to work.

  • Time Machine backup file corrupted and locked

    This morning when I switch on my Mac there was a dialogue box telling me that my Time Machine backup file was corrupted and that Time Machine would have to create a new backup file.
    I am backing up my Macs to a disk connected to my Airport Extreme. It's been working for months without any problems. Other than this morning. Time Machine buddy had the following message:
    +Starting standard backup+

    +Mounted network destination using URL: afp://[email protected]/MyBookHome+

    Has anybody seen something like this before?
    I now have a locked and renamed sparsebundle on my disk and backups are not working anymore.

    Yes you are right, I know it isn't supported - as so many other things but they work!
    This one is notorious for working for a while, then . . . not.
    In addition to the problems above I got a pop-up from Time Machine saying the backup file is broken and it needs to create a new one. I told it to go ahead and what happened is that it actually proceeded to DELETE the old backup file before creating a new one - there goes my several months of backup history!
    Yes, just as it says in the message. See #C13 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
    All I can say do now is connect my drive directly to my iMac and figure out a way how I can backup my other iMac and the MacBook I have. On the AE this just worked remotely.
    Yeah. Until it didn't.
    Really not much options here to backup a home with 3 Macs!?!
    Sure there is. Back the others up to the same drive, over your network, via sharing. See #22 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum), for details and setup instructions.

  • Backup file corrupted- How do I recover or locate older backup files?

    I synced my original iPhone (with 2.0 software) a few times last night to make sure everything I had on the iPhone was synced to my computer before I restored it, and sold it on ebay. It backed up the iPhone a few times and always wanted to restore it everytime. Well the last time I attempted to sync the iPhone I interrupted the backup process by 'x-ing' out of it during the sync. Now I am trying to get my 3G iPhone synced with the backup of my original iPhone and it is saying that the file is corrupt. Obviously this is because I interrupted the backup process.
    So my question is: Is there a way for me to locate an older backup file that may only be an hour older than the corrupt file?
    In the preference settings in iTunes I can see the backup files for my phone, but it only lists one, which is the corrupt one. And I searched the finder for recent files, hoping I could find the corrupt file, locate the folder its in and there find older non-corrupt files. Alas, no luck.
    I've already restored the original iPhone so the info is gone from that phone. Is there any hope of finding a non-corrupt backup file? Please help.

  • IPhone can't backup - Backup file corrupt

    Backup was interrupted. Now I get the message "iTunes could not backup the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone"
    I previously deleted the backup.dll file, but then got another error message "backup session failed" - Then I uninstalled itunes and anything apple and reloaded iTunes.
    Back to square 1 again - "backup corrupt"
    Any other ideas?

    Select Mac: iTunes > Preferences... (Windows: iTunes > Edit > Preferences...)
    Select Devices tab, select your backup and delete it then try backup again.

  • Torch 9800 - backup file corrupt

    Hi everybody. My device is BB Torch 9800. Recently I installed the OS 6.0 bundle 2647 (v6.0.0.600, platform 6.6.0.223). After I finished to install the new firmware, the device made a reboot and turned on, but on the display appeared this message: "The backup file is corrupt. If possible, create another backup file and try again, or choose another restore option". In anycase, the device seems to go well, nothing is going wrong; but after each reboot (for example, if I install a new app), when the device turns on, the same message appears.What can I do to fix the backup file? How can I create another backup file? Which other restore option I have? Thank you for your help.

    Delete your BBM app and try to reboot. If your issue is gone, download again BBM.
    Thanks.
    Hope that helps. Good luck!

    Just seen the linked questions at the right side and found the answer.  Should have searched first.

  • Backup files corrupt

    Hello oracle-experts!
    I have problem with defining and executing backup for my Oracle DB.
    I have seen the same topic posted by Axel Henke.
    I have the similar problem.
    I also have installed SAP systems on windows and would like to execute backup directly to the external medium on UNIX.
    Here the parameters I have set in the init<DBSID>.sap
    backup_dev_type = stage
    archive_stage_dir = sapbackup/Backupdir
    stage_root_dir = sapbackup/Archivedir
    stage_copy_cmd  = ftp
    remote_host = backuphostname
    remote_user = “user password”
    The result of the backup is the files and directories looking like:
    Directory-example: STFAO~X
    File-example: S1IWRU~X
    Can some one tells me what I have done wrong?
    Thank you very much indeed

    In the video section on the top right section it should show something that says "project files lost" then there will be a button that says find or something like that. Click that and then select the clips your missing.
    Hope this helps!

  • I cannot find corrupt iPhone backup file on my computer to delete it.

    I have an iPhone 5s. It backed up to my computer (Mac) just fine until I got a new computer. I loaded all my backed up files onto the new computer (also a mac), from my airport extreme computer backup (also a mac product) and the next time I went to backup my iphone, it clearly says in the itunes window (where it would usually tell you your last backup date) that this phone had NEVER been backed up up on this computer. That would be fine with me and I would gladly create a new backup from what was on my phone currently except....When I click the backup button, it gives me the "could not back up the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone. Delete the back up for this iphone, then try again" error message. I have followed every instruction of how to go about deleting these backups. I deleted every iPhone related backup through iTunes. Then I tried to find the files on the computer's hard drive outside of iTunes, but I swear there is no MobileSync folder on my computer. At least it's not at the path that is always given in every suggested solution.
    I did create a separate user account (on the same computer) and was able to backup my phone through that. I don't know what that means, if anything, but I'd like my iphone to work with MY user account...
    I've had a really difficult time finding the answer to this question online, so any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    i have figured it out, what you have to do is to restore your phone back to factory settings:
    http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yBBiMy3Y6Q - youtube video to show you how incase you dont know
    and then set up your phone as a NEW IPHONE instead of using iCloud
    then plug it into iTunes - then i clicked on the iCloud thing to restore my new phone,   and it should work, mine does hope this helps

  • What to do If a backup file is corrupt

    Hi!
    Recently I restored my iPad 2 to factory settings. Before I did that I updated it to iCloud. I went through the standared set-up process. But when restoring from an iCloud back up a message poped up saying that there's a problem with my data and that I should choose another backup. So I tried with all three backups but the message was still present. What can I do if a backup file is corrupt?

    Please help!

  • Error message says I have to delete a corrupt backup file?

    Error message says I have to delete a corrupt backup file, but under my preferneces & under my devices, there is no old backup file to delete, so I can't delete a corrupt one if i dont have any?!

    I know this is a late reply was wondering if you had the problem still as I have been having this problem for many months.  Today I was looking around getting ****** off why it was not working and I found my culprit and thought I would see if it would help you.  Not sure if you, like me, changed your itunes media store location somewhere other than the default location.  What I noticed was in Users>UserName>AppData>Roaming>AppleComputer>MobileSync there was a backup folder with a shared link icon on it and when I double clicked on it windows promptly brought up an error that its location was not valid.  So I figured since it was not valid and I did not have any backups anyways I deleted the folder and then went to itunes and tried a sync and it worked perfectly again.  The backup folder was re-created properly and the stupid corrupt error went away.

  • Corrupted backup files

    Hi, I've only had my BlackBerry Curve 9300 for a couple of months and I'm having problems backing up to my computer. The backup always appears to have been successful (i.e. shows the 'Your backup is complete' message) but when I go to look at the backup files (via 'Device' and 'Restore' from the menu) they always show the message "The selected backup file might be corrupted".
    I've tried this on my laptop (Windows Vista) and my PC (Windows 7) but its always the same error.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    The backup files (in a *ipd or *.bbb file format) are not viewable on your PC, from any native PC software.
    They may be used to restore data to the BlackBerry.
    You can alternatively use a PC software named MagicBerry from MenaStep, to extract data out of the backup file for use in a spreadsheet, etc.
