Backup files only to reopen on the own computer/aperture version?
Hey, I´ve stored my aperture library backup files on an external drive. Wanted to open the files on my friends computer, but it didn´t work. "... library is not writeable" so I´m not able to select the library file an open it. Why?
Permissions. You own the files on your disk. When you connect it to your friends computer and use his account the permissions aren't right.
Try this in Finder select the disk and do a Get Info on it (File->Get Info or ⌘-I) at the bottom of the Info window you'll see a checkbox Ignore ownership on this volume
Select it (you'll probably have to unlock the Info window by clicking on the lock in the lower right).

Are you currently working on a tryout of Premiere Elements 12 downloaded from Adobe?
If so, you do not have to buy from Adobe. You can purchase the version from an authorized reseller of
the product.
At that point, you can leave the 12 tryout installed and just install your purchased serial number from
the authorized reseller or uninstall the tryout and just install the purchased product with its serial number.
When you open a tryout 12 project file (with Adobe watermark) in a purchased Premiere Elements 12, the
Adobe watermark should disappear
a. if you use Timeline/Delete Rendered Files
or
b. do nothing...so of us have found that just opening the tryout file in a purchased product removes the Adobe
watermark automatically.

Are you talking about the Adobe watermark? You will not lose the projects, but whether or not the Adobe watermark
is removed in a purchased version which is not the version in which it was created is of concern.

How can i turn off encrypted backup file if i do have the passowrd?
i have a problem with restoring the backup files on my iphone, it shows me an error message of corrupted process. Now i downloaded Dr.fone program in order to extract the backup files but it does not extract encrypted backup. So i need a method for turning off the encryption and please note that i do have the password for that encryption i just need a way to turn it off using the password.
thanksafter ive connected the phone to itunes and i click on restore backup a box pops u and says
Find my iphone must be turned off before 'My Iphone' can be restored.
Go to icloud settings on you iphone and turn off Find my Iphone before restoring your iphone.
the first time this came up i went into icloud on my computer and removed the old phone from there but from what ive read it will only be properly removed when the fone gets turned back on. -

FYI- I downloaded the "Domain.sites2" file from your page (because I deleted mine yeterday) So now the file is sitting on my desktop in my "Download" window.
I see the good back-up file I want to use on my desktop, but when I go to drag the file from my desktop and drop it in "Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb", it does not take. I am not allowed to drop files on that iWeb page directly. (I tried to drop the the "Domain.sites2" file from the Download window, but that also does not allow me to drag and drop it directly to the iWeb folder.) -
Check-in/out files only works some of the time
My office recently upgraded to CS6 from CS5.5. I am able to connect to the web server successfully and can sometimes check in and check out a file without problems but most of the time I keep getting an error message that the file activity is incomplete. It says I am connected to the server but "An FTP error occurred--cannot put (name of file). Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem. Make sure you proper authorization on the server and the server is properly configured." I have also gotten the message "553 permission denied."
I have noticed that when I take out what I have in the root directory and leave it blank it works. However, I have to have something in the root directory first, try to check in or out a file, and then take it out in order for it to work; I cannot leave the root directory field blank at all times or else I get an error message. Is there a work around so that I do not have to keep editing the site root directory every time? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thank you for your reply. There are three of us that use Dreamweaver and they are unable to check-in/out with CS6. They are using our older version of Dreamweaver with no problems. The settings were given to me by my IT department. Dreamweaver is not supported by IT and they cannot offer me any additional help. I saw in another discussion to take out the first / in the root directory but it is needed in order me to successfully connect to the server. WinSCP is used for FTP. Please let me know if you need additional information. I really appreciate the help.

Want to move bookmarks from old laptop running Firefox 3.1.6 and Win XP to new laptop running Win 7 64-bit and FF 3.1.6 which I just installed. On new laptop I browsed from FF to Restore bookmarks from file I had saved from old laptop (edit to add: it is about 4500kb). The file (bookmarks-2010-10-15.json) is NOT write protected. FF reports "Unable to process backup file".
I have shut down FF and rebooting computer. I am able to restore a bookmark file that was created on new laptop but NOT the one saved from old laptop so I do NOT think the file that the knowledge base (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_process_the_backup_file_-_Firefox) refers to as potentially problematic is the problem in my case. I do NOT want to proceed with the other suggestions (create new profile and etc.) for fear of creating even more problems.
Appreciate your advice - I have probably a 1000 or more bookmarks to move and so this is vital and probably typical of anyone with a new computer.PROBLEM SOLVED I did backup from old laptop again both as .json file and as an export to html. This time the .json file worked to restore from it.
I had read on a different thread here about using the html version and was going to give that a try but also made the new .json at the same time to see if I could get that to work - which it did. I expect that either approach gives the same results and so if one approach is not working for you perhaps the other approach will take care of it. -
How can I get iTunes to update play counts and file additions between users on the same computer?
I have placed my iTunes library in /Users/Shared/iTunes along with iTunes Music Library.XML
When I open iTunes, all the music is displayed correctly with playcounts etc...
The problem is, when a playcount or album info is updated it does not carry over to the other user on the same computer. The same with adding new files to the iTunes library...
How can I get iTunes to auto-update between users?

I just tried to backup my 5800XM via Ovi Suite, but it only created a 1kb file (there is 12GB of stuff on the memory card).

That's what I normally do (for data).
But I thought I'd try the Suite backup as I thought it would back up apps from phone memory as well ?
I've just gone through a major reset / reformat / reinstallation session (seems quite common around here !) to overcome an autorotate issue.
The phone has been trimmed of superfluous apps & music reinstalled with corrections to truncated mp3 id3 v2 metadata & album art.
Everything seems to be working OK now.
Disk checked & defragged by Win XP, so I was trying a complete backup of phone & card memory. -
Can an iPhone be updated with a backup file that is older than the newest available?
My husband has lost all of his iPhone information when he cleaned it off to start over, then saved a new backup that wiped out all his old info. Is there any way to go back to a previous backup to retrieve all his lost contact information?
Yeah, each column in the CSV needs to have a descriptive header. Here's what I used to quickly test that example script I posted above:

Adding files from another desktop on the same computer
I am new to this discussion and I did a quick search to see if anything turned up similar to this question. My husband and I have our own desktops on our Mac; he has several songs that I want from his iTunes library and vice versa. We can't figure out how to add files from each other's library to save our lives. When I go to the import section of iTunes, I can get to his desktop, but there is a little stop symbol with a "-" sign next to his music folder. It is probably very simple, but short of burning a disc and doing it that way, I can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Power PC G5 Mac OS X (10.4.5)The stop/- sign means the folder is read protected. You can only (by default) use his public folder. To transfer items via copying them over the network you would need to log in as an administrator (most likley as his account) remotely. This will give you acccess to all of his folders.
If you want to copy between folders on the same machine you need to be an administrator. Try logging in with the admin account.
If you want to just share the music you can do that too. In OS X Preferences -> Sharing -> Firewall -> check the share iTunes Music checkbox.
In iTunes you would then need to go to iTunes Preferences -> Sharing -> Make sure both the share button and the "Looked for shared music" and "Share my Music are checked" are checked.
Do this two both machines.
And you should then see a folder in iTunes with the other music.
If you are on a network this works out well with out having to duplicate two sets of data/mp3s.

How do you setup file sharing between users on the same computer? How do they view the shared files?
I have 10.6.8 software loaded on my Mac Pro. My family uses it as our primary computer, it is basically my wife and I . I set up a third account for my 2 1/2 year old daughter since there is a crap load of software programs for her games and what nots. I want to be able to share all the files between all three accounts on the computer. I do see under System Preferences how to do file sharing, however when I do I can not find where to view the files I have shared. I have tried sharing the entire hard drive and desktop along with specific folders. Thanks

I am trying to update my apps on my iPod Touch and it comes up with the above message. I have also tried updating it on iTunes on my computer but on my computer account it doesn't even mention my bought apps as bought and just prompts me to but it. I know that I have bought them on either my iPod or on my computer.

my computer has some serious problems, my iphoto only shows only shows thumb size pics when I try to open them, i tried to rebuild my files from folders that had the pics in them. originally all the photos had a large delta with a question mark. also I can't back up the library file because its not there. I went to time machune and tried to find the file but I can't find it or I am looking in the wrong place. I also lost my Idvd file, only have broken chain showing.

This makes no sense at all - all of your previous statements indicate that you do have an iPhoto library but have some problems with it
By default your iPHoto library is located in your Pictures folder and is named iPhtoo library - if tha tis not the case the you have moved or renamed it and only you know what you did until you tell us the details

Go to Solution.I can find the backup files using pc suite without any problems, but as i said i want to copy them to my d: drive.
I have unhidden the entire c: drive and searched for .nbu .ncc .nfb .nfc .ngr all nokia backup extensions without result.
I am using Vista and have checked in every directory for my user name.

EDIT : I managed to find the backup files, they were in the directory i had created on my d: drive for my nokia games and software with the extension .nbu , how they got there i dont know?

When I set a Pictures in my movie (PiP) is ok but if I set another Pictures (PIP) after the previous one, the movies stop it when the second picture begins and it restart at the end of the secon PIP. How can I fix it?
