Backup for contact info on Pre

My Palm pda allowed me to backup calendar and contact information onto my computer.  Although I understand that my calendar is backed-up through Google Calendar, I don't know how to backup all the contact info on my phone.

Hello and welcome to the forums;
Google also can back up your contact information the same way it backs up your calendar. In the Contacts app under Preferences and Accounts, set Google as your Default Account, and every future contact you enter will be backed up to google, and you can see all of those contact records on your device as well as in Gmail.
As for information that is currently in your phone, if you did not have google as the default account, those contacts are stored to the Palm Profile. If you want to copy that information to google, for each contact you can tap Send Contact > Send via Email and that will create a .VCF file for that contact that can then be imported into google. This is currently an individual process, and would need to be repeated for each contact to be copied.
If you're interested in a desktop solution for backing up your information such as available on former PDA's, check out our website here which details some of the 3rd party options available.
Hope this helps,

  • Does firefox have auto-fill for contact info?

I used to have auto-fill for contact info with another program, where I stored my contact info once, and then whenever a form popped up to be completed, just hit auto-fill and the info auto-populated. Does firefox have this? If so, how can I get it? Thanks!

    Selecting your card
Launch Contacts. Select your Contac Address.
Click "Card" in the menu bar and click "Make this My Card" from the dropdown.

  • Contact sheets with header for contact info?

I'm trying to print my first contact sheet (actually a jewel case insert), and I'm very surprised to see that there appears to be no way to include some type of header and/or footer that would include my contact info, copyright, etc.
Am I missing something in AP, or is there a work around for this? It seems useless to send out a contact sheet that doesn't include at least my name.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Because you didn't look hard enough. Make sure you check "Photo Info" and the click on the popup next to it and select filename or setup a custom text in Edit..

  • ITunes & iOS 5 Upgrades-missing backups, missing contact info

Using Windows XP, upgraded iTunes to 10.5.0.142 couple of days ago, then iOS 5 yesterday. When I installed iOS 5, it didn't reload my apps AND was missing any contact data beyond 2 phone numbers.  In iTunes and on my pc \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup I only had 1 backup from yesterday (the day I upgraded) and it didn't inlcude my last iOS4 backup either.  I had sync'd multiple times last week as I was adding contacts. WHERE DID THEY GO?
Also missing contact phone numbers where I had more than 2 phone numbers.  Noticed in my Favorites that some were numbers and also tried other 'fixes' mentioned elsewhere like just editing one contact or importing SIM data -- none worked.  I have been using iDrive Lite so I can recover some, but ***?  Don't know what else is missing.
And, apps didn't restore at all.  Have to redownload all, but at least app data seems to have been preserved.  What's going on???

I have solved it by unchecking (momentaneously till apple fix it) the "Convert higher bit rate songs" option.
I know that it need more space but i don't have too much music synced so.. it isn't a problem for me..
I have this problem because i'm using the "manually manage music and videos", i'm not using the auto sync option because iTunes always try to copy my new apps to my mac even having that option unchecked...
Now we have iCloud... i don't know why apple still have not deleted this feature!
Anyway... i have solved it momentaneously.
    Apple.... come on!

  • Is there a backup for contacts on Icloud?

I did a misstake when I installed my sons iPhone. I deleted contacts that came whit iCloud on my sons iPhone and now they are gone from my iPhone aswell. I need them back!
Is there a backup in iCloud?

No. The iCloud online address book is what keeps all other connected devices and computers synced. If a contact is deleted from the iCloud online address book, it will be deleted from all connected devices and computers as well.
Contacts are included with the iPhone's backup. If the iPhone's backup hasn't been updated since the contact was deleted from the iCloud online address book, you can try restoring the iPhone with iTunes from the backup. Don't update the iPhone's backup before doing so.

  • ICloud backup for contacts and Exchange server

I have my iPhone and iPad synchronizing to an Exchange server at work - this is where my calendar, contacts, and email live.  I'm wondering about this "backup to iCloud": if I do, how does this work? What I can't have is another set of contacts/calendar data somewhere that might someday get pushed to my phone and from there *back* to the Exchange server - I've had this problem before and I can't afford to have the correct "master copy" of the data messed up by synchronization from anywhere else.  On my iPhone, when setting up iOS5, I didn't disable it, and how when I try to turn off synchronizing contacts with iCloud, it says something like "there's a set of sync data on the phone, delete it?". I don't want it to delete anything that will affect the contacts (etc.) that was correct on the phone, and might get pushed to the Exchange server and delete stuff from there.  How will this work and what exactly gets copied to/from iCloud with respect to these things?

+1... issue started with 10.10.1... very annoying as now all iMessage contacts are showing with just numbers...

  • Can I retrieve contact info from a database without the BlackBerry

Here's my story---a couple of weeks ago, I dropped my Pearl 8130 into a big cup of water. After it miraculously came back to life, I decided it was high time to BACKUP my contact info... so I used desktop manager version 4.3.0.17 to do so... I only clicked on 'Addresses' which I assumed meant contacts. I kid you not---the VERY NEXT DAY, my poor BlackBerry went into the pool with me. Now, despite the fact that I just mentioned having gone swimming, I actually do not lead a lavish lifestyle... I live in the desert, and I needed to get my poor, overheated toddler into the pool asap. I do have cell phone insurance, but I don't have the $50 deductible to get a new BlackBerry. I am using a used Casio G'zOne Boulder right now. I had SO much contact info though, that I need. So, here is my question. Is there a way to convert the database (IPD File) info I saved into a word document, or some other readable form so I can obtain all my contacts?
    Thank you in advance,
    Crystal

Crystal, Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.
Yes, google search for ABC Amber IPD Converter, and use that. It's not free, but the the trial software will handle limited number of records.
If you end up getting a new BlackBerry, you can restore that backup IPD file to your new device.

  • Bug for contact's "Edit Birthday"

I noticed that there is a software bug for the "Edit Birthday" Section in the Contact. If the date is to be set at year 1982 and January, there is no way you can change it to any other day other then the 1st. Am I the only one encountering this problem?
    Or I am not alone?
Is there anyway to make known of this issue to Apple to rectify this issue?

Contact info is designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. Since you have a Mac, this can be with the Address Book application which is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences. If you haven't synced with the Address Book on your Mac and you haven't used it for contact info on your Mac - it is empty, before syncing contact info enter one contact in the Address Book - make one up if needed which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing contact info, which you want to select.
You can include a backup of your Address Book data on your Mac with the backup of all other important data on your Mac stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only.
Although contact info available on your iPhone is included with your iPhone's backup, it isn't a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup alone for this because your iPhone's backup includes other data, and your current situation is another reason.

  • Report accessible in CRM PCUI for marketing attributes for contacts

I am trying to create a report accessible in CRM PCUI home page for marketing attributes for contacts(info from CRM, not R3). Does anyone know the steps to get this done please?

    Hi Abdul,
Can you tell me how did you do this. I have a similar requirement in PCUI where I need to have a two level report in PCUI.
Would request to treat this as very urgent.

  • Save contact info to sim card

I have made many, many changes to my contacts list. I inadvertantly hit the import sim contacts in the settings menu and added all of the "old" contact info back into the phone. I know I can restore from my computer to the phone but, is there a way to write the "new" contacts info to the sim card?
    TIA

    In a word, no.
The iPhone does not support storing contacts on the SIM card, which is limited to a name and a couple of phone numbers.
The iPhone is designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer for contact info. Not a good idea to depend on your cell phone alone for this data anyway regardless if very limited contact info can be stored on the SIM card since a phone can be lost or stolen.
With Vista, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007 along with syncing calendar events, or with the address book used by Windows Mail - Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only. If you don't have Outlook 2003 or 2007 available and you don't use Windows Contacts - it is empty - doesn't include any contacts, before the fist sync with Windows Contacts enter one contact in Windows Contacts. Make this contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select. After the first sync and merge, you can clean up your contacts with Windows Contacts - delete any duplicates, etc. followed by another sync.

  • Is there a phone number to call Adobe.  I go around an endless loop pressing their contact info tabs?  Maybe someone at this sight can help. I am new to digital photo - I have been a B&W film photographer for many years. I have a problem with a Macbook Ai

Is there a phone number to call Adobe.  I go around an endless loop pressing their contact info tabs?  Maybe someone at this sight can help. I am new to digital photo - I have been a B&W film photographer for many years. I have a problem with a Macbook Air.  It was working fine - I was using LR and a message came on the screen that said something like the memory was dangerously low.  I stopped and tried to delete LR files.  I couldn't do it.  I closed the program and tried reopening and got the message that there is not enough memory available to open LR.  I contacted Apple.  They spent a half hour on the phone with me and eventually told me they didn't know how to help. The tech said that LR had gobbled up all the memory and said I should contact Adobe and ask where and how my photo files are stored and to delete them.  I have several back-ups.  Thanks - Arthur

This sort of error message only comes up for Lightroom when your hard disk is full. Indeed this has nothing to do with internal memory as that will be intelligently be dealt with. If you have a mac Book Air that is not so surprising as the cheapest versions come with very small hard disks and if you shoot raw with any recent camera, you'll fill up your hard disk very quickly and you can probably only store a few months of pictures if you are a typical photographer. So the bottom line is that you need to create some room on your hard disk. You should move some of your originals to an external hard disk. You can also delete some of your backup copies of your catalog file that Lightroom automatically generates every few days and that quickly gobble up hard disk space. So first figure out how full your hard disk is. To see that, go to the apple menu, hit -> About this Mac -> More info->Storage. You should see your internal hard disk on top and you'll find that it is almost entirely full with photos. Now find your Lightroom catalog file using Finder. It is usually in a folder in the Pictures folder in your home directory. You should see a Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrcat file, a previews file and a folder called backups. Inside the backups folder, you'll find a lot of subfolders. They have names that show the dates the backups were created. If you have backups of your entire hard disk, you can delete these backups when they are older than a few months. I usually only keep the last 4 around. Just drag the folders into the trash can on the dock on the bottom of your screen and empty the trash. This will probably free up enough space that Lightroom will already run again. Now start thinking about where you will want to store older images. If you have a good USB3 or Thunderbolt hard disk that is probably the best option. There is a video here by Adobe that has some instructions on how to do this: Is Your Hard Drive Full? Here’s How to Move Images to Another Drive in Lightroom. « Julieanne Kost's Blog If that doesn't work because you don't have enough hard drive space to run Lightroom yet, here is another set of instructions to move your files using the finder to the other hard disk: How do I move only my photos to another hard drive, leaving the catalog where it is? - The Lightroom Queen. If you follow that, as soon as you confirm all your images are on the new hard disk, you can delete them from your internal one. She is not so clear about that part but if you don't delete the originals that you moved off you don't free up space. You should move the folder structure over to the new hard disk and then reconnect the folders in Lightroom. That should make it refind all your images.
That said, if you are uncomfortable with the computer in itself, your best bet is to find a local photography club. There is invariably a Lightroom savvy person in there that could help you move your files. That might be your best bet if you are uncomfortable moving these yourself. A general mac savvy person like you would find at an Apple store or so generally will not be able to help you with this except when they are photographers themselves and know Lightroom. You might get lucky with that.

  • How to restore contact info, etc, in Address Book from a backup drive?

I accidentally deleted the entries (names, contact info, etc) in Address Book. My hard drive is fully backed up on another drive.
How do I replace the deleted contacts from my backup file? Or, how do I replace the current Address Book with the undamaged one on my backup drive?
    Thanks.
    Ed in Dallas

What kind of backup? If it's a TM backup then open Address Book and select Address Book Help from the Help menu. Search for "restore from time machine." You'll find an article on how to restore entries from a TM backup.
If this is simply a cloned backup then navigate to the /Home/Library/Application Support/ folder on the backup drive and copy the AddressBook folder to the same location on your hard drive.
Then navigate to /Home/Library/Preferences/ and copy the com.apple.addressbook.plist and com.apple.addressbook.abd.plist files from the backup to the same location on your hard drive.
Address Book must not be running.

Is anyone else having this problem?
I tried to re-install and got the following message:  iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 1114)
Does this mean I have now lost everything?

I just had the same error:

I went to http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925 and did a complete removal and reinstallation of iTunes. You MUST follow the directions here exactly...it's more than just iTunes that must be removed, and it MUST be done in the order in which the support article says.  I followed the exact instructions, and iTunes is back on my machine (no more C runtime error) and you do NOT lose your music...it's all in my library, as it was before.
    Good luck!
