Backup for N73 restore to N95

Hi ,
If i have a backup for N73 using Pc-suite , can i restore it to Nokia N95 8Gb .
Many thanks,
Talal

Hi Talal,
I strongly suggest NOT doing that. The back-up contains device specific content and settings which might affect your N95 8GB if you did a restore.

  • IPod touch in recovery mode but there are no backups for the restore

I recently switched from a Mac to a PC. When I connected my iPod touch to the PC, it errored trying to do a backup and no backup was created. My iPod is now in recovery mode and when I try to restore I get this error message: 'The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6).' What can I do?

Did you try to reset the ipod by holding the sleep and home button until you see the Apple logo?
Is your ipod charging if you use the adapter? If yes, charge it and try again to connect in recovery mode.
In order to pass the passcode you'll have to restore your ipod "as new ipod" because the passcode info is saved in your backup. Restoring and backup: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

You don't in the condition it's in. You will either have to get the phone replaced by Apple or pay a 3rd party to repair it.
there seriously should be more than two ways to solve this other wise apple is useless and we will never buy another apple product.
    Seriously? It's physically broken!

  • If there is an error in backup-spfarm can i still use for farm restore

When I execute backup-spfarm I get a message that the backup failed.  In the logs there are several errors all relating specifically to search topology.  I would love to do a backup and exclude search since I feel I can rebuild that fairly easily
if the need arrises. So my question is: Would it be supported to use this backup file to restore the farm knowing full well that I will have to manually configure the search application.  It looks like everything else gets backed up without issue.

    Hi Steven,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to use the backup file which was failed in the backup to restore the farm.
Per my knowledge, the file cannot be used to restore the farm because the backup process is failed with many errors. We cannot make sure that everything except the Search Service Application is backed up well.
I recommend to re-backup the farm without the Search Service Application to see if the issue still occurs.

  • I cannot select the last iPhone backup for a new iPhone restore

    why
i cannot select the last iPhone backup for a new iPhone restore?

    Hey quarterback45,
Thanks for the question. This usually occurs when your new iPhone is on a earlier iOS version than that of which the backup was created with:

  • Create server role for backups (BACKUP DATABASE and RESTORE HEADERONLY)

    Hello-
I wish to create a server role that will allow any users assigned to it to be able to issue a BACKUP DATABASE and RESTORE HEADERONLY for any database on the server.  I've been searching Google and MSDN but haven't had much luck.  I can create the
user (CREATE SERVER ROLE backupuser;) but don't really know how to assign the permissions to it that I want.  I wish to keep the permissions as narrow as possible for good practice; I could just assign the user to the sysadmin group but that shouldn't
    be necessary.
If anyone can help, I would much appreciate it.

Whenever you need to find out the required permissions for a command, the best way is to look up these commands in Books Online, and to the Permissions/Securities section. This is what I always do when people asks these questions, because I rarely knows
    the answer by heart.
So, let's see what the topic for BACKUP has to say:
BACKUP DATABASE and BACKUP LOG permissions default to members of the
sysadmin fixed server role and the db_owner and db_backupoperator fixed
       database roles
The permission section for RESTORE HEADERONLY says:
Beginning in SQL Server 2008, obtaining information about a backup set or
backup device requires CREATE DATABASE permission. For more information,
       see GRANT Database Permissions (Transact-SQL).
So it seems that if you want a user that has server-level rights to back up databases, this must be sysadmin, which is a little disappointing. One possibility is to package the BACKUP command in a stored procedure, which you sign with a certificate. Then
you create a login from the certiticate, and add that login to sysadmin. BACKUP accepts parameters for many of its arguments, so you don't have to build dynamic SQL. Still it is not really a satisfactory solution, since this user will have to work with
BACKUP "commands" that will be procedure calls.

  • My new iphone 6 plus has been restoring from iCloud backup for days.  I do not have all my apps or music yet

my new iphone 6 plus has been restoring from iCloud backup for days.  I do not have all my apps or music yet.  How do I fix it?

    Hello Bernharp,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPhone 6 Plus is taking a long time to restore from an iCloud backup. I can understand why you'd be concerned after several days of waiting.
This might happen if your backup contains a lot of content such as pictures or your Wi-Fi connection isn't consistent.
If the restore still hasn't completed, take a look at the information in the "Restoring my device from an iCloud backup is taking a long time" and "A message says restore incomplete or some items could not be restored" sections of this Support article:
If you need help restoring from an iCloud backup - Apple Support

  • Seeing wrong backups for user on restore.

When I go to restore a backup for a specific account, the available accounts listed don't seem to have any correlation with the Time Capsule user credentials. And for 1 account, the person's backup isn't available with their user credentials. I was expecting for any given Time Capsule user, that they'd only be able to see and restore their own backups. Is there something I'm missing, or is there something that's common to misconfigure to have the problem? Thanks for the help.

According to Apple's "Restoring files from a Time Capsule backup":
To restore from a System Migration (user account)
(These steps are for a Mac that is already configured and part of your network.)
Open the Migration Assistant (located in /Applications/Utilities).
    Click Continue.
Enter an administrator name and password.
Select "From a Time Machine backup or other disk."
Highlight Time Capsule in the list named "Select the System to Transfer."
Enter the user name and password of the backed-up account from which you want to transfer data.
The account volumes will then be added to the "Select the System to Transfer" list.
Select the volume you want to transfer.
    Click Continue to proceed.
After Time Machine scans the volume, select the user account from which you want to transfer.
Choose the Applications, files, and folders you would like to transfer.
    Click Continue to proceed.
Choose the Network Settings, Time Zone, and Sharing Settings to transfer.
    Click Transfer to proceed.

i backup my iphone on my pc and copy backup file into drive D then i setup new OS on my pc. after that i copy the backup file into itunes backup folder but itunes can't find the backup file to restore my iphone. how can i restore my iphone?

Don't you just love changes in interfaces?
I found the answer to my question.
When you attach a device (iPhone, iPad) to your Mac, in iTunes 12 in appears as a tiny icon in the second "row" of the iTunes display. Click the icon and the familiar iTunes display for the device appears. From there, on the Summary screen, you can see the dates of the backups of the device (iCloud and backup to the computer). You can also use the button to backup to the computer.

  • [solved] missing latest backups for iPhone after getting replacement phone

Thought I would share this one in case anyone else runs into it.
My the speaker on my wife's iPhone 4 on Verizon had stopped working for phone calls for the second time and a restore didn't fix it, so she returned the phone and they gave her a new one at the store. We had made several backups over the last few days, the most recent was this morning.
So tonight we hooked up the new phone to iTunes and got ready to restore it, but iTunes said the restore was last updated in FEBRUARY. What?! My wife freaked out thinking all her photos etc. were now lost for good.
I held off on the restore and decided to do some checking around before doing anything. I found the folder where the restore files are, and sure enough I found files from today. I copied that folder just in case. I also checked in iTunes itself and the backups were listed. So what was up?!
It finally occured to me that we had recently upgraded her phone to iOS 5, but that the new iPhone 4 from the store was probably still on iOS 4 -- maybe iTunes was not smart enough to see this situation and tell us about it, and maybe it won't listed iOS 5 backups for an iOS 4 phone.
Well that turned out to be the case. But what to do to fix it? I figured if I could get iOS 5 onto the phone, we would be all set. But I didn't want to tell iTunes to label it as a new phone either -- I'm not sure if that would be permanent or what. So I took a leap of faith and held down the power button and home button simultaneously for a while, past the power off notification, until the phone prompted to be connected to iTunes to be restored.
Then I plugged it back into the computer (this is Windows 7, by the way). Sure enough iTunes said it detected a phone in recovery mode, and would I like to have iTunes restore it to factory settings and put on the latest iOS? I sure would, so I did that and waited...
After that was done, iTunes wanted me to active the phone with Verizon. We had already done that an hour earlier over the phone, but tried it anyway, and it failed. We ignored that failure and went into the phone in iTunes -- it now asked if it was a new phone or if we should restore it -- and the backup from this morning was listed. Phew!
Finally completed the restore. I noticed that all of the passwords for all apps were lost -- unlike with a normal restore/backup on the same phone -- but everything else (pcitures, apps, etc.) was there. Thank goodness!
So, if you have upgraded the iOS version and have to replace your phone and the nreplacement has an older iOS verison, then that may explain why your backups appear to be missing...

Yes, I tried. But nothing is working. I am feeling bad as such a costly phone stop working in 1.4 year ?
I am just sharing my experience.
I am not ranting but yes angry as I am eligible for upgrade in Nov 2012 so don't want to pay $149 for replacement as I can upgrade to iPhone 5.
Apple expert please help me how can I fix it. It's completely software issue.

  • How do I use backup DVD to restore

Hi and thank you ahead of time for any help you may provide.  I have a Satellite C655-S5082 laptop.  I have basic computer knowledge which I have discovered ranks in the "not much" category unless it is spelled out relatively simply.  I was trying to uninstall the Zynga toolbar and somehow deleted most of my downloaded programs including my email!  None of the shortcuts worked and most of the program was gone.  (Windows Live Essentials, Adobe, Java, Microsoft Office Starter and I am sure others that I haven't found yet)  Some are an easy fix as I can just download again.  Email was/is more of a problem.  I downloaded the program again and recovered some of my emails with Recuva. (I miss Outlook Express) I remembered that I have these backup DVD's that might put things back where they should be!  Not the Recovery ones, I don't want to wipe everything out and start over.  I get started with the Restore, but then am unsure what to do and nothing I can find really explains it step by step.  I get to where it tells me to "Browse or search your backup for files and folders to restore" and am unsure what steps to take next.  It doesn't tell me.  I think I just want to restore everything to where it was.  Can you help please and will it work?  System Recovery did not work, and in my search for making it work, I followed a suggestion to turn it off and on again and lost previous restore points. (Please don't yell too loudly)  Thanks again!

Will I be able to use the daily backup discs at all afterward?
Backups of files should be available. But make new copies of important files anyway.
You wouldn't want to restore from image backups.

The iCloud backup includes most things except non-iTunes purchased but the iTunes backup does not include those either. For what iCloud includes see:

  • Time Capsule backup for multiple users

I have my iMac setup so that each member of my family has their own account. I am the administrator. When I run a time capsule backup is it backing up their files as well or do I need to create a backup for their accounts.
If I create individual backups for their accounts will it backup the shared files like the applications or just files specific to their accounts? Is this something I need to control by selecting what files to exclude in the preferences
Time capsule seems great for simple backups but concerns me if I ever have a HD crash. It seems very difficult to restore a backup to a new mac if I ever have to do that. Does anyone else have this concern? I am considering buying another external drive and use SuperDuper to create full bootable backups at least once every 6 months or so.
    Thanks,
    Gil

It is much harder to check what Time Machine has backed up.. you can assume that everything currently needed to reproduce the same setup on another computer is there.
To double check you must spend a bit of time understanding both how Time Machine works and how to restore from it.
Read up a bit from Pondini's excellent KnowledgeBase of articles.
    http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html
    Q7-9 are highly relevant.
Also go back to the main page and read the main articles on how TM works.
I must also say at the moment, on Yosemite in particular, I would not fully trust Time Machine.
I encourage people to make a bootable clone using Carbon Copy Cloner for example to a USB drive. You do not need to do it continually but the clone makes for a much easier return to normal.. since you can simply change boot disks. It costs $40 and is excellent value.. there are others you can buy.. and I am not connected to CCC in any way.. other than I use it and been amazed at what a great piece of software it is.
