Backup from computer
Hello, i have a problem with backuping my iphone 4s.
So yesterday I backed up my Ihopne as usual, everything went smoothly, or at least i though so.
Today i wanted to update my OS but in the middle it crashed and it said my iphone needs to be restored... I thougk OK, it is backed up anyway... So It was restored and when I was in the process to restoring the back up, it was not possible... After like 30 min of restoring the back up itunes said to me that the backup was not made properly and it cannot be restored... I tried several times, evem restarted iphone... it is not possible and Now I cannot even press the button "restore backup" in my Itunes (although it says that the last back up was yesterday). In the folder of backups on my PC, I can see this back up, it is a folder of like 8GB, and I am desperate because the back up is there but I cannot "pu it into the iphone".
Any ideas what should I do?
Thanks
Six days and no response...did I post this is the correct category? Is there a moderator who can recommend the correct category for better exposure?

when i restore my backup from computer why do my minutes texts and data gets removed from my pay as you go sim card?
As long as it's unlocked it will work with any SIM, incl. EE SIMs.
If you buy abroad you need to ensure it is compatible with UK mobile frequencies, on which I cannot advise. -

My girlfriend is out of town on business and lost her iPhone 5. She bought a new one. Her backup is on her laptop which is here with me.
Is it possible to upload her last backup of her iPhone from the laptop to the iCloud so she can do a restore?
Thank youNo. Sorry. She'll have to wait till she gets home to restore it, or you could ship her the laptop.

How Can I Delete all Time Machine Backup From Computer Hard Drive?
Can somebody help me on this. I don't want to use time machine anymore because i have low volume External hard Drive(500GB) only but want to do manual buckup.
Hi,
If you no longer want to use the Ext Drive with TM...
Turn TM Off and Erase the Ext Drive using Disc Utility...
Cheers,

How can I use the Time Machine Backups from my Old Computer?
I have two months of Time Machine backups made using my old Macintosh computer which died and I no longer have. I have now purchased a new computer and am trying to use the Time Machine back ups from the original computer, but it will not recognise them. How can I get my new MacBook Pro to use the Time Machine Backups from my old Computer? I phoned the Apple help line and they said I cannot use them and would have to delete them. This sounds crazy if you can only use the Time Machine back up file with one computer and have to delete it when you buy a new Mac. Surely there must be some way to transfer ownership (not files) from an old to the new Mac?
Thanks
RichardThanks Kevin for the suggestion posted on MacOSXHints how to "Repair Time Machine after logic board changes".
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20080128003716101
It seems as though I am not alone with my frustration with the way Time Machine uses the MAC address of a computer to tell one system from another. This means that if you have your Mac repaired with a new logic board, or replace your system with a new one, you can't resume backups where you left off. Reading through the readers who used the fix using Terminal, it appears that the fix does not always work. I contacted Apple again, but they were no help. Surely Apple should come out with a solution as more and more people use Time Machine/Time Capsule.
It is CRAZY that after a change computers or a switch in the computer logic board that you cannot resume your Time Machine back ups. -
I originally had an iPhone 4 but switched service carriers back in June. When I bought the new iPhone 4s, all my information from the iPhone 4 was saved as a backup on the iCloud. On my new phone in the iCloud settings, Storage & Backup, it shows the backup from the iPhone 4. This backup is taking up a lot of space on my phone and I would like to delete to avoid having to purchase more space. However, I know I have pictures on this backup from the iPhone 4 that I would like to view and save on my computer if at all possible before deleting. Is it possible to view the photos from this backup? If so, how? Thank you in advance for any assistance. I hope this makes sense, lol, I'm not very computer literate.
Unfortunately with the issues I mentioned above I don't even think I have enough space for that on the computer! I have literally moved all moy pictures, music, etc. to another drive and all that's left are some small docs and applications. I don't know how to find any more space on the thing and can't get things updated until I fix this...

I have Restored my Computer to Factory Settings and Now I'm trying to restore the backups from my Time Matchine. I've already done the Migration Assistant things. But I dont know where to find my details or where my files are.
Everything is in different spots then where it was when i started this process.
HELPRestoring from Time Machine and using Migration Assistant are either/or options... either restore from a Time Machine backup or restore by using Migration Assitant. You don't write which version of OS X you're running, so it's kind of difficult to tell you where to begin (or start over).
If you're running Lion or Mountain Lion, I would boot into the Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting) and use Disk Utility to erase your boot volume. Then, with your TM drive connected, restore your latest backup to your newly formatted volume. You can do the same by using the installation disc that has Snow Leopard on it, just with a few extra steps.
See http://www.pondini.org/TM/14.html.
Good luck,

Hi,
I plugged my iPhone for the first time to my computer. The iTunes screen automatically came up and asked if I wanted to register/set-up my iPhone as new phone or using the backup from my iPod. Without knowing what was going to happen, I clicked on the backup from my iPod and then I lost everything I already had in my phone: mostly contacts and pictures. Although afraid of the answer, is there a solution to retrieving the info, especially the pictures?
Thank you!by any chance did you do a back up to iCloud? if not there isn't a way to retrieve lost info with out a back up.

When restoring my backup from my old iphone via my computer to my new iphone, it gets all the way through the restore and then at the end it says there was an error and doesn't restore. Doesn't say what error.
Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11) Installed on your computer
iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download

What is the best way to backup my computer before upgrading from OSX 10.5.8 to 10.6? I just purchased a WD portable external hard drive.
Use Carbon Copy Cloner http://www.bombich.com/index.html or SuperDuper. http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html Both make a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive.

Transfer Ipod backup from one computer to another.
I want to transfer my ipod back up from one computer to another. Is there a way to keep my back up file and use that on my new PC? 4th gen Ipod Touch, Windows XP to Windows 7
You need to transfer your iTunes library from your old Mac to your new Mac. Copy the iTunes named folder located in your Music folder on your old Mac and with iTunes quit on your new Mac, place the iTunes folder in the same location - in your Music folder. You also need to authorize your new Mac with your iTunes account with iTunes.
Before syncing contacts with the Address Book and calendar events with iCal on your new Mac, enter one contact in the Address Book and one calendar event in iCal on your new Mac. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.
There is no need to transfer your iPhone's backup from your old Mac to your new Mac. iTunes on your new Mac will create a new backup for your iPhone automatically or you can do this manually. With your iPhone connected to iTunes on your new Mac, control-click on your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list and at the menu window that appears, select Back Up to create a new backup for your iPhone as of now. -
Restoring backup from Elements Version 6 to new computer withElements version 9
IHi There,
I just replaced my old computer that had elements Version 6 to a new Windows 7 machine with Elements 9. I made a backup from the old system, do I just restore that in the new system to restore all my pictures?
ThanksIf you made a full back-up in Elements 6 to an external hard disk or a set of CD’s then you can use the restore command in Elements 9.
It’s best to let the program decide the new file structure when restoring to a new location as trying to preserve an existing structure can cause complications - e.g. differing file paths under Windows XP compared with windows 7.

My son reset then forgot his passcode, when I try to restore from his computer his pc freezes. I have tried several times and continues to freeze. He does not want to lose his contacts, purchased songs and apps but all else does not really matter.
So, am I able to restore his touch from my computer then restore the backup from his computer? It did complete the backup on his PC.
Please help, we have been messing with this for a few weeks now and I am just tired of trying to restore when his pc keeps freezing...Yes, just plug in into iTunes and it'll give you the option to restore as a new device..

I am trying to do an iCloud backup from my computer. I have been unable to do a backup from a wifi as I keep getting message that it cannot be completed. What is the secret to doing this from my computer, with my iphone plugged into same?
How are you trying to do it from your computer? Try plugging it into your charger while connected to wifi, then either lock the screen and wait (it should backup up ever 24 hours) or go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and tap Back Up Now.
