Backup IPAD2 to a central server is possible?

We are deploying more than 70 IPADs across the organisation. Company does not want each IPADs to be backed up to individual machines. is there an option to back up all the devices to a central server? is backup over the air (wireless) is possible? please help.

It depends on what you are attempting to backup...iCloud will use a wi-fi connection to backup your iCloud email contacts and calendar..and you can back up photo's that way as well....but Exchange email would have to be restored in the event of loss by reestablishing the connection to the mail server and downloading mail again. It would be nice to have the capability for organizations to centrally store backups and OS updates. The problem about the company doing backups is then they assume some responsibility for users personal stuff like pictures or music etc....you might check out the following kb

I'm trying to find a way to store and administer InDesign projects and their files on a central server, its possible to create a program that could host and admister files on a server and give access to them based on user and groups and that stuff?
Something like a SVN repository for editors, writers and designers. I wish to load a file called "funnyImage0011204924." However, the numbers after the prefix "funnyImage" are variable, and might require change in the future. Is it possible to load any file with the prefix "funnyImage," using URL methods? Would I need to create a new class? Is this impossible?)
Please remember that I do not plan to go outside the .jar file, so there is no point in trying to get around server permissions and all that if it is unnecessary.

Manage Jobs in Adobe Central Server

I've defined a number of jobs in Central's Job Management Database. Is there an easy way to export these jobs, so that I can easily redeploy them on a different Central Server instance?
I was also wondering whether it's possible to change the name of an existing job?

Redeploying the Job Management Database is simply a matter of copying the
b jfserver.jmd
file from the original folder to the other instances and/or servers. The jfserver.jmd file is where the database is stored. It is located in the ...\ServerX folder. (I'm about to do that myself to distribute a change I just made.) Keep in mind that deploying the JMD file doesn't cause Central to begin using the updated file. Central must be told to specifically reload it via the Control menu, by placing a file in the control folder that has the commands for reloading it, or by stopping & restarting Central.
Depending on how the multiple instances were installed the first instance is named "Server" while the other instanaces (default installation) will have a number starting with 2 as a suffix.
FYI: This is a standard text file that can be read & editted by any program that can edit text files. For example, we use it as input to routines that want to build a drop-down list of available printers.
You can't change the name of jobs/tasks/printers but you can copy & paste. The paste operation asks for a new name.

1. I tried to backup manually to external HDD using wsb snap-in, but it has failed in the same way.
2. Stop and re-add protection.
3. I have researched the error, some results suggest that some bad sectors might exist, however, when I run the command, it forces me to schedule the command on next boot. when I reboot, it loads windows after that gives a message "Cannot open the volume
for direct access"

Please try clean boot then test how the issue goes. Following are the detailed steps about clean boot:
Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER to start the System Configuration Utility.
On the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. (The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)
On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
Click OK, Choose Don’t show this message again and then click Restart.
Please check if RDP session issue is still the same.

How to restore a database backup taken from a SQL Server 2012 instance to SQL Server 2014

I am trying to restore a database backup taken from a SQL Server 2012 instance to my new SQL Server 2014 instance. When I add the .bak through the Mgmt studio UI, it does not seem to find a backup set in the file so I cannot proceed (does not give
me any errors though either. I tried restoring through TSQL command but only got a database restore terminating abnormally error with no other details. How can I restore this database to SQL 2014?

Macbook pro won't boot and when I tried to back up the hard drive I got "disk utility can't repair this disk backup as many of your files as possible"

My macbook pro froze and initially would not even recognize the power chord. Now it charges, but will not load up. I opened in in disk utility to try and back it up so that I could take it to apple to have it fixed but I got the message that said "disk utility can't repair this disk backup as many of your files as possible". How do I back up the files???

you can try the method described on this Apple page, in the “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility” section. (You can skip step 6, since you already know that your disk is irreparable.) Note, however, that this method is not guaranteed to work. Once you get your disk straightened out, you might consider purchasing an external hard disk for use as a Time Machine backup destination, so that a similar problem in the future won’t wipe out the only copy of your files.

Backup Problem with only Production Server

Impact of reinstalling the SUP role at the Central server

Multiple Active update sources (all primary servers)
We have identified an issue with multiple WSUS update sources in the database. This is from a previous WSUS installation where in the stale entries still prevail in the database. We have determined to delete the inactive update source from the db and reinstall
the SUP role alone. Apart from redoing the updates classification and custom site settings what impact is this going to have in the environment. e.g. on the old update lists, DMs, CIs. Am I going to lose all of that as well?

Would I have to reinstall the WSUS server again? I am indeed testing this on my lab, and my DMs and U/Ls were all in place after uninstalling the SUP role and on reinstalling I can see entries in my wsyncmgr.log such as:

"Incrementing CI version to '#' which I believe is pretty standard.

Yes, Office 365 (Exchange Online) would work perfectly with DirSync.
If the requirement is for mail to work even when the internal environment is down, then do not implement AD FS because in that scenario, authentication is dependent on access to the domain controllers in the internal environment.
As for simply hosting one's own server in Azure, I just read an article that recommends against it:
- Exchange uses alot of resources. You would need a rather expensive configuration.
- You would still be responsbile for the updates.
- Your VPN connection would have to be very reliable. Exchange is constantly querying the domain controllers / global catalogs. EDIT - I see you wrote "without a VPN" - well, that's not possible. Exchange will never work directly across the Internet
like that.

How to backup a Scale Out File Server

Can anyone explain to me how i am supposed to backup my Scale Out File Server? It is used to host our VDI environment but we have thrown a few other minimal shares on there for stuff relevant to the VDI setup. Profile Disk/Scripts etc

Scale out file server support in DPM is for VM's (and SQL DB's I think), only and to be honest because of the metadata overhead using scale out file server and CSV as a general file server is not a good choice. To protect VM's running on a scale out
file server the VM's are backed up from the Hyper-V hosts but the Scale Out file servers do require a DPM agent on them. SMB 3.0 has a new feature which enables Remote VSS therefore the volumes (shares) are snapped from the Hyper-V hosts.

Store certificates on a central server

I am creating forms that require digital signatures. I want to be able to store the signature information on a centralized server on the network, so that when the final person gets the document, they can verify the authenticity of the signature without the original signer sending them a certificate. An example would be a timesheet. Payroll would be innudated with certificates that proves a person's signature. So we are trying to prevent that by storing all this information in a centrally located server.
My question is - where is the best place to create this and how? We would like to pre-create all signatures with the same basic information so when the person signs the form, the program will go to the server, locate the information it needs, and sign the form. They then save it and email it to payroll, where the payroll clerk can open it up and see that the signature is verified as authentic by going to the server and authenticating it.
Hopefully you get the gist. I am trying to avoid reading 1000 pages of manuals to find out how to set this up this way so it is secure and the individual end users won't have to do anything.

You will need to plan to have something that only the intended user will know or will possess. This, of course, is "the rub" because the world is littered with lost smart-cards and thumb-drives, and thumb readers don't work. Some business situations require data integrity verification more than they need identity verification, and the two are not the same.
When you find a solution, be sure to let us all know.

Central server for house full of iMacs?

hello, ... we have two iMacs in our residence and i am thinking of a third computer (iMac, of course) due to having trouble getting my "turn" with the use of computer time (kid's, wife hogging prime time usage). I have a wireless networking system of course with an Apple Time Capsule. Is there such thing as linking all the iMacs using a separate mac computer tower as a central server to act as a porthole or gateway?

Mac mini with server is definitely one option as described above but it may be more than you need to spend for a simple home sharing setup.
For a number on months, I've been using just the time capsule with a 1Tb USB hard drive and printer attached as my 'porthole' or 'gateway' as you describe. This enabled me to host all my media and stuff which we wanted to share across multiple computers, while the time capsule itself backed up all the machines using Time Machine.
However, I found the performance wasn't very reliable over wireless network only, especially when moving large video files around the house. That, and the need for more storage space has meant I've upgrade to a NAS connected via a Gigabit ethernet switch to the various networked peripherals.
I have a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo, connected by ethernet via a Netgear switch to my Time Capsule which creates the wireless-N network for my house - i have an ADSL2+ modem supplied by my ISP which connects to the internet.
This setup allows me to connect a late 2009 iMac 27 (wired), an older iMac 14inch (wireless) which I use for browsing in bed, on the sofa etc, and two work PCs (Windows laptops via wireless and/or fixed depending on location), plus a few other network media bits connected to my TV etc.
I've found the addition of a dedicated network switch (i have the 16 port Netgear Pro safe) has made a big difference to the speed and reliability of connections to the various network devices.
Depending on the number of devices you want to connect, you can omit the network switch and continue to share a USB printer and hard drive etc using just a Time Capsule in this set up.
