Backup Issues with iPhone 4 and iOs 4.3.3

So after arriving in town on a business trip, I find myself accidentally locked out of my phone. Knowing that I need to restore it in order to regain access to it, I begin downloading the update to 4.3.3 so that the restore can process. Due to this being a small town in Alaska, the internet is not the greatest, and the update times out around 7 or so times. Finally, I set it to just go by itself while I fell asleep. Upon my waking, I came to find that my phone has been restored and I have access to it again (good news) but that it has been completely wiped and I can find no record of any previous backups for the phone from before approximately 5:45 this morning. Nor is there any record of any of my apps, contacts, photos, or any of my other important data on the mac itself.
So tell me, am I completely screwed? Or is there some hidey-hole somewhere on this computer that may have performed correctly and maintained a backup of my phone from one of the many times I told it to back up? I attempted to do a fairly scrutinizing search to see if I could find a solution on my own, but have had no luck. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for your quick reply!  I am actually using the white headphones that originally came with the iPhone and I also tried using ones that I bought to specifically use with the iPhone so I could also answer the phone and hear through those.  Any other advice?

  • My Top Issues with iPhone 6 + iOS 8.0.2

I'm having a bevy of issues with my new iPhone 6 and iOS 8.0.2... I thought I'd put some of these out to stud, as those smarter than I have found resolves for... I'd love to enjoy this device, but some of the issues are completely off-putting. They are as follows:
    1. Email is setup to push, however when it is read on the computer, the notification no longer disappears from the lock screen until the phone is unlocked. Prior to upgrading, the notifications would immediately disappear when the emails were opened on the desktop. There seemed to be perfect sync between the mobile device and email interface.
    2. The lingering notification "1" on top of the Settings icon. Not sure how to get rid of it, but combed through and don't have any outstanding updates or backups.
    3. Certain applications arbitrarly lag or freeze (i.e. Facebook, Mail, etc...). Applications either shut-down or restart. Happens less frequently, but more so than previous device/iOS.
    4. Text message and email searches don't work. If I type in the name of a contact in Messaging, unless it's a very recent contact - it doesn't populate with results. Same is roughly the case for email.
Any ideas on the above? Thanks guys.

The transference of software between devices can come with problems. The only way to overcome those issues is troubleshooting. I'm sorry it is too much of a hassle to ensure your device is in proper working order. It is far less of a hassle then dealing with problems and complaining about them. Good luck with your device.

  • WiFi issues with iPhone 4S & ios 6 update

    Okay here is my issue...
I've been reading alot of issues that people have with connecting to WiFi with their new iPhone 5, iPhone 4S or other devices but I have no trouble connecting to WiFi at all. My problem is that WiFi wont 'work'. The WiFi I'm hooked up to at home doesn't let me do basically anything that requires internet.
I can get on the Facebook app fine and my newsfeed loads but I can't see Facebook notifications, upload photos or videos, read inboxes, look at photos, its very slow etc.
I can't get into the App Store or iTunes at all. It says it 'Cannot Connect to iTunes Store' when I try.
I can't upload photos onto Instagram
Currently I'm into the Simpsons Tapped Out game and I can't go onto it at all.
And there are a few other minor issues I am having.
All these things I can do with my Telstra 3G network however and it ***** because I want to use and do all these things but I have to use my 3G and I've just recently gone over my data monthly usage and been charged extra which I'm not happy about.
So is anyone else having these issues or is it just me and I'm stuffed? I'd REALLY love some help.
I've been lost with what to do because as some are having WiFi issues as well, mine isnt the same and it's hard to find answers or just other discussions.
    Please Help!
    Thankyou.

I am having the same issue since updating to iOS 6.  It has been noticeable on my iPhone 4S and a little less noticeable on my iPad 3 but I think it is happening on the iPad too.  Very annoying problem.  One way to get it to work better is to re-boot your phone.  It will work for awhile then and then eventually not be working anymore and you will need to re-boot again.
Just to be clear with everyone - the iPhone looks like it is connected to the wireless, it gets an IP address but can't transmit any data.  Device:  iPhone 4S, OS:  iOS6

  • Issue with Iphone 6 iOS 8.1.1 - Bluetooth Connectivity

Bluetooth connection in Honda CRV continously drops and is not consistent.
Any resolution to fix this issue?

I have the same issue with my iPhone 6 & 2012 Civic.  Prior to iOS 8.1.1 the bluetooth always worked flawlessly, even with my iPhone 3G and 4S.  Worked fine with my iPhone 6 until the 8.1.1 update.  Removing and re-establishing the connection has not helped.
    Apple,  please please please:
Issue a patch ASAP fixing this and other bluetooth issues.  This issue IS IMPACTING MY BUSINESS.  I rely on the bluetooth capability of my iPhone to conduct business while in the car during my ~120min of commuting each day.
Provide the ability to roll-back to a previous version after an update.  I understand the desire to tout the adoption rates of new iOS releases.  But that is sure to begin declining as more people upgrade only to encounter issues that did not exist previously.
    Thank you.

  • Touch ID issue with iPhone 5S iOS 8/8.0.2

    Hello,
After updating my iPhone 5S to iOS 8 I have been experiencing Touch ID problems where it does not recognize my finger and says "try again" even after 3 tries. This never happened to me in the iOS 7 its almost always instant and always correct in the Touch ID. Infact I had been bragging about it to all my mates here as to how the Apple build quality is in regard to their flagship phones. I have updated to the iOS 8.0.2 today and again experiencing the same issues with the Touch ID and now it was so annoying I removed all my finger prints off the phone and tried again by placing my fingers on the Touch ID button to register my prints. Even after successfully registering Im experiencing the same problems again. I have disabled Touch ID for the time being and using the conventional pass code method to unlock my phone. Hopping to hear from you guys.
    Cheers,
    M.
    iPhone 5S - 16GB
    iOS 8.0.2
P.S - I did a complete update from iTunes for both iOS 8 and iOS 8.0.2 downloading the entire OS both times to install them and did not do it from the phone.

My wife has a problem with touch ID even before iOS 8 was released. Our theory is its because she works in medical office she is frequently washing her hands which causes dry skin. To combat the dryness she has to use lotion to moisturize her hands. I think it's the combination of dry hands and lotion that is causing the problems. On the same phone I never have a problem with touch ID nor do I have a problem with dry hands so it would seem the problem is not with the phone itself but the texture of her fingerprints combined with the use of lotions. It's not that her fingerprints change but the minute cracks that develop, heal, and reoccur thus the fingerprint reader is picking up those subtle changes. What the solution is I don't know although it does seem to get worse as the air gets dryer. That maybe of no help to you whatsoever but something to consider.

  • Broadcast and non-broadcast SSID issues with iPhones and iPads

We have a CIsco wireless infrastructure configured with a public broadcasted ssid and a private non-broadcast ssid that we are experiencing issues with the iPads and iPhones.  The iPad or iPhone will switch between both ssids if defined but keep the original IP address when it switches to the non-broadcast ssid making it unusable.  It shouldn't be switching at all technically.  If the non-broadcast ssid is defined only on the iPhone or iPad, the broadcast ssid pops up and starts asking for authentication information.  I have Cisco looking into this but I'm quite sure this is an Apple bug. Any other device works fine.  We are currently using version 4.3.5(8L2) on the iPads and iPhones.  I do know that if we broadcast both SSIDS, the issue goes away, but I don't want to do that.  Although it doesn't really add any more security, it just isn't advertised, so most people won't see it and avoids a lot of questions. Hopefully there's a simple solution.
    Any ideas apple guys?
Also how does one open an actual trouble ticket with apple?

  • Issues with iPhone and Android connecting to Lync 2010?

Our environment currently consists of a single Lync 2010 instance, which is currently performing all roles. The current challenge I'm running into is connectivity to iOS and Android devices not wanting to cooperate. Currently, Lync is using a certificate
issued by a local CA. The CA root certificate has been imported to the devices that are having trouble connecting, and I've done this via email import without success, as well as using the iPhone Configuration Utility. In all tested instances, an error that
"the certificate can't be verified" is displayed that prohibits a user from establishing a connection. All domain workstations and remote users that import the root CA have no issues connecting.
I can't seem to figure out what's going on here. Has anyone run into this? This is a quasi-test environment in my lab that I'm testing with a few other people, and as much as we've tried, can't seem to figure out the issue. Any ideas?

To confirm that the certificate has been installed successful do you have a corporate website that is available externally that uses a certificate issued by the CA in question? If the answer is yes I would browse to that site on the phone and see if you
get an error. The Lync mobile clients don't give you a heck of a lot of information for troubleshooting. This will rule out a certificate issue.
Next thing would be your reverse proxy. Are you using ISA server? Test the reverse proxy rule by browsing to the Lync mobile auto discover URL - https://lyncwebexternal.domain.com/Autodiscover/AutodiscoverService.svc/root
Assuming ISA also make sure the rule is configure correctly -

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/nexthop/archive/2012/11/19/configuring-reverse-proxy-for-lync-server-2010-mobility.aspx
Let me know what the results are of those tests.

  • Issues with iPhone and iPhoto syncing

Having trouble adding photos from my iPhone5 to my iPhoto '09, version 8.1.2.  The photos are not showing up or syncing.  iPhoto says there is an iPhone device but nothing.  It worked before, last time I transferred photos as in March 2014 and there was no problem.  Any suggestions?

    Try lauch iTunes.
    Then connect the Phone/iPad
When it asks you to trust it, say yes.
    Then try import.

  • Sync issues with iPhone 6 Plus and iTunes

I'm having issues with syncing my iPhone and iTunes.
    I am running: Mavericks 10.9.3 | iTunes 11.4 | iOS 8.0.2
Every time I try to sync my iPhone 6 Plus with iTunes, the sync process gets stuck on step 5 of 5 (waiting for changes to be applied).  The longest this has occurred for is 2hrs.  After this time I have stopped the sync and ejected my iPhone.
I had another issue with my phone when playing music.  When going to play music, I was given the error message saying that the song could not be found.  I connected my iPhone to iTunes and went to the tab in summery page, 'on this iPhone'.  I found the song and could see that next to the song was a small what looked like dotted grey circle.  After Googling this, I found a video saying that if i was to remove all my music and then add it again, this should fix the problem with this song.  I did this and this was when the issue occurred again.
I unticked the option to remove all music but the sync did not finish. So I cancelled the sync, ejected my iPhone and tried again.  This time, the summery page of my iPhone said there was no music on my iPhone and the 'on this iPhone'  tab, this all so said there was no music however, my music was still on my iPhone including the song that would not play.  All played ok.
I have read lots in the Apple forums about lost of difference reason this may be happening.  Things like bugs in iOS 8, app updates being transferred during the sync process, the latest iTunes version has bugs and even a dodgy USB cable could cause it.  My iPod running iOS 5 syncs all ok but I get this problem as well on my iPad Air.
I all so had this issue with my old iPhone 4S.  The problem occurred when running iOS 7 and 8 on the 4S.  When I had it on the 4S, I did a restore of the 4S 4 times and thought I had found the issue down too a dodgy app.  However, now that it has happened on my new iPhone and still not using that app, could this be an issue with my Mac/iTunes?
I am in contact with Apple Care, but this is such a long process.
So if anybody could please offer any advice on this or steps to try to maybe solve the issue, it would be really helpful.   Or if anybody is experiencing the same problem, it would be good to know its not just my devices and Mac producing this sync problem.
I will update my post with any information provided by Apple Care as and when I get it.
Thanks for reading and thanks for your time.
    Mark.

    Hi,
Just wanted to updated my original post and give some more information on this issue that I'm having with my iOS devices running iOS 8.0.2 and iTunes 11.4.
Firstly I just want to updated my details about what version of Mavericks I'm running.  I'm running 10.9.5 - I put the wrong version down in my original post.
So over the last week, I have had a few phone calls with Apple Care an am dealing with a senior technical advisor about this issue.
I have been given some instructions that I am currently working through to see if it solves the sync issue with iTunes and my iOS devices.
The Apple Care advisor has pointed out that a iTunes version issue with music that I have ripped to iTunes and the current iTunes version could be what is causing the problem.  For example, every song that I have purchased from iTunes since having an account, I was told are all exactly the same the same when it comes down the to data/information about that track/album that iTunes stores with the music but when it comes to music that I have added to iTunes myself from a CD,  this was added and encoded with the version of iTunes that was running at the time of adding the music.  So going through all the music that I added to iTunes over the last 10 years, you can imaging that there was lots of mixed version of iTunes linked to lots of different music.
At the moment, I'm having to go through all my music and find any that I have added and create a new ACC version of that music and delete the old version.  However, due to the amount of music that I have, this is going to take a long time.  When I was on the phone to the Apple Care advisor, we did several albums as a test and they all synced over to my iPhone.  This may just have been luck though at that time.
Now, I'm not saying that this will solve the problem that I have with the sync issue but I am going to try it and see how I get on.  The only down side to this fix as far as I can see at the moment, is  that when it's all done, I think I will have to fully restore all my iOS devices to get music on to them.
I will of course updated this topic when I have got through all my music and tried to sync my iOS devices.
Thank you all for your comments.

  • Since updating to iOS 7.1,  having issues with safari and wi-fi...

Since upgrading to iOS 7.1, I have experienced issues with wifi and safari. Many websites will not load and I receive the message that "Safari cannot open the page as the server cannot be found". This only happens with the iPad (iPhone 5 is fine), and the same problems do not exist when using 3G (cellular). I have tried a reset, renewing the lease, forgetting the network, rebooting, resetting the modem... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello TunnieZee,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

Unable to access the Internet while connected to Wi-Fi
If you're using a public or commercial network, you may need to log in or subscribe.
Check to see if you have a self-assigned IP address:
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected and tap .
If your IP address is 169.254.xxx.xxx, you may not be able to access the Internet.
If you do not have a self-assigned IP address, see if other Wi-Fi devices on your network have Internet access.
If they do not, consult with your network administrator or ISP for further assistance.
If they do, reset network settings on your device by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings

  • Apple TV buffering issues with iPhone 4s and iPad 2

    Hi all,
I just got me an Apple TV 2nd gen (yeah, I know, ordered 2 days before the presentation of the new one). So far so good, the device is up and running, connects just fine to my Airport Express router and all.
However, if I try to stream a video from my iPad (2) or my iPhone (4S), the results are quite horriffic. The iPad videos would buffer for a very long time before they start and then quite fast after that the buffering problems restart. It's pretty impossible to play a video fluently of more than 20 seconds. If I'd try from my iPhone it's even worse with videos being 1080p, the thing just never plays, eventually the preloading process stops on the mirroring mode is cut.
I have to point out, all my devices are in the same room (WiFi) so the signal is the best it can be.
This is honestly quite surprising AND disappointing to be honest, given I bought the device mostly for that, so I can stream videos from my phone and pad.
Tell me, am I doing something wrong, or the video streaming over those devices is just a marketing gimmick with nothing real behind it?
Would it matter if I change my router from Airport express to Airport extreme?
    Thanks!

I have the same issue with ATV3 and iPhone 4S. Everything works properly, no buffering issues when watching netflix, vimeo, youtube BUT when I try mirroring even a small 15sec iPhone movie it stutters and buffers and results to a choppy playback..same with larger mp4 files such as 1-1.5GB, buffers forever and never plays, I just re-encoded the same movie to 700MB and plays perfectly..
Why Apple, why?..so close..I can accept the bigger movie files issue, but not being able to playback properly an iPhone movie is funny..I recorded a movie with lower bitrate through Filmic Pro (Economy mode, up to 16Mbps)
    and plays properly.
Is there an upcoming software update going to solve the problem or is it hardware related and therefore not fixable.
Please don't reply with a network related answer, by 2012 we know how to set up our networks and everything else runs flawlessly.
I'll apreciate a fast answer, we love Apple, but if it can't play an iphone movie (or a high quality movie from iTunes) it's just not up to my standards.
    Thanks again.

  • Itunes 11.1.5 will not sync new apps with iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.6 and gives grayed out "install" no message?  How does one work around this?

Itunes 11.1.5 (MacBook Pro,OS 10.6.8) will not sync new apps with iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.6 and gives grayed out "install" no message?  How does one work around this?

Just reboot your laptop... While its rebooting try to reboot your phone also by holding the home and power buttonn for 10-15 seconds...When your phone is turned off try to connect it to iTunes and it will recognize your phone in recovery mode.
If you have the .ipsw file for iOS 7.0.6 saved in your desktop then in itunes press shift and click on Restore.
Select the ipsw file and let it restore.
If you dont have it downloaded then simply click on restore.
    I hope it works
    Cheers !
