Backup location during update iOS5?

Hello community.
What a nightmare. Trying to update iOS5, keeps internal error, can't connect server error. After every time it fails, the long torturing backup starts again. When it gets through and starts to install, error 3004 and then nothing. Restart my iphone, itunes tells me it has to restore my iphone to factory setting before anything else can be done and wipes my iphone out. My music!!!!
Does anybody know, where is that 10 minutes + backup during the iOS update is loacted in a Mac? I want to find it out and do something. Thanks!!!

OS? Database version? On 10g and higher use 'catalog backuppiece' to move the metadata information about backups to another location.

    hi,
Is it possible to change the RMAN backup Location for the Auxillary db.
ie., say on my Target the bakup location is /u03/rman/backup
and on Auxillary host i copy the backup to /u01/rman backup
How to tell RMAN to look at different destination during DUPLICATE database.
also, I am NOT using recovery catalog.

  • Backup location during duplicate database

On my production backup is taken in the path /u01/backup.
I have copied the backup pieces to the location /u07/backup on the Auxiliary system.
But how can i tell RMAN to look for the backups in the new location.
I cant change the location of production using catalog command.
ie.., /u07 is not available on PROD and /u01 is not available on dev.
I want only the duplicate command to read the file from /u07/backup path

    Hi,
You could make a link on the Auxiliary system (provided /u01/backup does not exists as a true directory).
If it not already exists create a directory /u01 with the right owner and group.
    Than as the oracle user < ln -s /u07/backup /u01/backup >.

  • Backup stopping during update - how to email apple?

I know a lot of people have been having this problem(where the automatic backup doesn't complete when updating to 4.0), and no one really knows what the problem is. So, I decided I wanted to email Apple about the problem, but the only method of communication I can figure out is by phone, and that costs like thirty bucks. Is there a way of emailing them, or if not, could someone with a warranty and with the same problem call them and see what they say? Thanks

    I´m having the same problem.
I´ve updated Itunes to 9.2 and when I´ve tried to sync my 2nd generation Itouch, it opens a window telling me that there is a problem with Mobile Device Helper and that it stop working...then tried to update the firmware to OS 4.0 and the problem remains...any one with an answer???
    thanks

  • Missing iPhone backup in iTunes from iOS5 update. What happens to the backup files from the update process?

My PC had a BSOD while restoring my data.  After I restarted, opened iTunes, and connected my phone, the restore did not resume. (I have seen the restore process resume after an interruption.)  I tried to manually restore the data, but iTunes does not list the backup that was taken during the update process.  Is this backup stored in a different location or format?  Is there a way I can get my data back?  I tried an extraction tool from the web and it didn't detect the backup from the update.

Same with me; I only found one backup dating back from august; tried that and works fine. But missing all my pics/vids in between. I have been searching my pc for files that were created on the day of the OS upgrade, but could not figure out any backups...
    Any help?

  • I have just agreed to software updates on my imac and now can't open my mail.  There is a message saying this version of mail isn't compatible with this latest software.  I have located the updated mail in the applications folder but it won't open. Help!

I have just agreed to software updates on my imac and now can't open my mail.  There is a message saying this version of mail isn't compatible with this latest software.  I have located the updated mail in the applications folder but it won't open. I don't have the original operating software disk.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Your reply suggests that you have moved Mail to a different location, which (as I said) will prevent it from being properly updated. You cannot use Mail 4.5 with any recent version of Mac OS X. Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) included Mail 5 and Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) includes Mail 6. I'm assuming that you have either Lion or Mountain Lion, but if that is incorrect, you will need to provide that information.
At this point, you will need to reinstall your system. Hold down command-R at startup and reinstall the system right on top of the old one. This should not disturb any of your documents or applications, though you should have backups beforehand in case something goes wrong. And at this point, with your system in an uncertain state (I don't entirely know what you have done to it), something could go wrong.
You will also want to delete the old copy of Mail 4.5, wherever that is. You can't use it.
In the future, do not move any of the preinstalled applications. Leave them where they are.

Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or photos.apple.com is not blocked by a firewall, or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations.
Restore your device while connected to a different network.

  • IPod recognized, but hangs during update

So my iPod will show up in Finder and in iTunes, and automatic updating will begin. However, at random times during the update, sometimes 4 songs in, sometimes 65, the whole process will just hang. iTunes status screen gets stuck on flashing between "Updating iPod..." and Song 65 of 2054 and just flash between those two over and over.
Meanwhile, the iPod screen itself is also stuck and no longer flashing "Do Not Disconnect" -- it's a steady screen with none of the normal flashing.
    Tried resetting, doesn't do anything.
Tried restoring, and it hangs after Authenticate asks me for my password to Restore the iPod.
I wind up having to just force disconnect and force quit everything and restart.
Anybody else have this problem? Thanks for any help you can give.
Oh btw, OS 10.3.9, iTunes 4.9, iBook G4.

I am having the same issue where it hangs during update -- seems to always happen around the 1800th song. Here's more specifics:
-I've got 7000 songs in my Library
-my iTunes Music folder is located on an external FireWire HD
My Mac has no problems mounting the iPod. No problems restoring with iPod Updater. No problems with erasing using Disk Utility.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Resetting and then restoring via iPod Updater.
    2. Erasing/reformatting via Disk Utility, including zeroing out all data, and then restoring via iPod Updater.
    3. Resetting into Disk Mode.
    4. Manually updating songs.
    5. Automatcially updating songs.
Nothing works. I have been troubleshooting this for about 8 hours now with no luck. No matter what I do differently, it always hangs around song 1800. I even tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes -- and I have tried this with several different user accounts and on different partitions I have set up.
When it "hangs," the iPod itself just makes a the "clicking" sound of a HD. I'm wondering if the HD is just bad -- but it came up with no errors when checking with Disk Utility.
    Any more suggestions?

  • I had to reinstall iTunes cause during update it was shut off by mistake, now it won't come up and says,"The file "iTunes Library .itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes", what do I do?

I had to reinstall iTunes cause during update it was shut off by mistake, now it won't come up and says,"The file "iTunes Library .itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes", what do I do?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • App hung on "waiting"; during update, I lost my wifi connection; now cannot delete to reinstall (no X), syc does not help; itunes store says it is installed and I cannot reinstall; deleting from itunes and synching does not remove "hung app"; HELP

App hung on "waiting"; during update, I lost my wifi connection and the app hung; now cannot delete to reinstall (no X), synching does not help; itunes app store says it is installed, therefore I cannot reinstall; deleting the app from itunes and synching does not reinstall the app on the ipod; the app developers have not helped and told me to check with Apple (which I am doing, since I am past my 90 day tech support). Hoping someone can help with this hung "waiting' app problem.

    - First try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next download the app on the computer and try to sync.
    - Last, restore from backup.

  • Row cannot be located for updating. Some values may have been changed...

    Hello,
I have a legacy application written in VB6 and using Oracle OLEDB Provider (version 9 and updated to the last ones from oracle site)
I've a problem during insert of a record using recordset method (AddNew).
The returned message is "Row cannot be located for updating. Some values may have been changed since it was last read. "
I know that problem is caused by a Before Insert trigger that I CANNOT change.
Trigger does not change any primary key values !!!. It put only some default values on other not rilevant columns.
I tried to use the recordset Property option "Update Criteria" = adCriteriaKey without success !
I had same problem with SQL Server but i solved putting into the trigger SET NOCOUNT ON.
I think problem is related to the fact that ADO tries to calculate number of affected rows and for doing that it use a where clause built on the changed columns but using values it had on the client.
    Other important info:
Cursor = adUseClient (and i cannot adUseServer)
    Provider= MSDAORA (version 9.2...)
    Oracle server = 9.1
Trigger causing problem = BEFORE INSERT (for each row)
    Thanks in advance

How long does it typically take to update ios5? Since update mine has been syncing for hours. I do have over 800 pics and 400 songs. Any ideas?

My update to iOS 5 took about 75 to 80 minutes. After the update I then had to update some aps and reload from the backup. When iOS 5 is being uploaded there should be some sort of status message in the top pert of iTunes. If this is not changing then I think you have a problem. If the status is changing, even of very slowly, then let it keep running until it's done.

I run below command - rman > restore control file from '<backup location>';In you log file one of backup set contains of data files another backup set contains Controlfile + SPFILE(optional)
Or else you can check from source database
    RMAN> list backup of controlfile;
Note that backup piece according to date, and you can use that piece name to restore controlfile.
