Backup of a broken iphone

I have water damage on my Iphone 5 and the screen is now black, it is still on and  responsive to charge.
The touch ID button is no longer working. Before i send it off for repair i would like to backup my phone so that i don't loose anything but it is asking for my password. Obviously i am unable to unlock my phone as the screen is black, therefore is there a way to get around this?
Thank you

Sorry, no. If there were, it wouldn't be very secure, would it? You should have already been backing it up regularly.

I have to send my iphone 3gs away for repairs as it wont charge or connect to any computers and it says I have to backup any files I have on my phone, how would I do that if it wont connect to a pc??

If phone out of battery and charge circuit damaged, you simply cannot backup its content.
But, if you synced lately your iPhone with iTunes, an automated backup has been performed (to see if you have a backup on iTunes, just go to Preferences > Devices and check if your phone listed on device backups).
So you just wait your phone repaired, and when it returned to you, [restore from previous backup|http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414] using iTunes.

  • How do I restore a broken iPhone's backup onto my new one?

    Hi,
My iPhone 4s recently stopped working (not the phone itself, just he screen) so I cannot get into it to set up an icloud backup or whatever. I luckily made a backup only a day before it broke, so now I want to put that backup onto my new iPhone 4s. Unfortunately, when I click "restore backup.." it says that my iPhone has never been backed up onto my computer, and thus it finds no backups that I can restore it to. I am aware I never backed it up, but I am unsure of how to access my backup from my old iPhone when I plug in my new iPhone into itunes. Any ideas??
    Thank you

Easy.  Restore the new iPod from the backup of the old iPod.  See the restoring topic of:

  • Getting contact info off broken iphone 3g

Does anyone know if it is possible to regain contact numbers off a broken iphone 3g that will not turn on so cannot be synced to macbook?? Some people have said that the contacts should be saved on ur mac from last time you sync it, but i cannot find them. Can anybody help???

Contacts are included in your iphone backup. Use this to extract them, however in the future sync them to Address Book so you don't have to go through this:

  • My broken iphone was replaced three days ago, but none of my images have restored from icloud yet?

i went to the apple store 3 days ago to replace my broken iphone 5. we backed up my old phone before starting up my new phone. everything transfered over but my images. we went back to the old phone and waited for an hour to back up my images to the icloud account. again we started up the new phone and my pictures all appeared to be there but they were in the process of downloading. the man at the store said it might take awhile, but they pictures should all download. it has now been three days and none of my pictures have restored/downloaded onto my new phone. i dont really know what to do. should i go back to the store?

You might need to stop the restore process and try restoring your backup again.  To do this, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and tap Stop Restoring... at the bottom.  Then restore your backup again as explained here: https://support.apple.com/kb/ph12521.  When you're not using it, be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.

  • I have a backup from an old iPhone that won't delete it says it's in use?

I Bought an iPhone 6 + set it all up and restored it from icloud but it just kept on running restore after it was finished so I backed it up to itunes on my Mac then did a local restore so I have everything, then I backed up the 6 to icloud but now I can't delte the backup from the old iPhone because it says it's in use and I wou like to recover this available space.

An interrupted iCloud restore will wait for approximately three days for the restore to resume, then it will time out.  If you wait 3-4 days you should be able to delete the backup.

  • I just got a new iPhone 6 but when I did the restore from backup of my old iPhone 4; none of my pictures were there and almost all of my calendar was missing. Can anyone help?

Hi, I just bought an iPhone 6, 64GB and had everything ready to do the "restore from backup" from my old iPhone 4 8GB. It kept stopping and I'd have to start over from the beginning. When I finally got it to do something with the help of my provider(who had walked me thru from the beginning anyway); I figured I was all set. Then I went to see my pics to use one for my lock screen and there were NO PICTURES AT ALL and only part of my calendar came over. I'm missing a lot of future appointments that I know are set up. I made sure not to wipe out my old one yet; as I will have to since I did the trade in plan; so I still have my old iPhone 4 and it has everything in it, in addition to having the backup on two computers in the house.
I also tried syncing it after the restore since things were missing, but that didn't work either.
I would appreciate any help so I can use my phone and get going with it.
    Thanks!

Did you choose the wrong back up? There should be a drop box when you go to "Restore from Back up" in iTunes and your iPhone is plugged in, on the Summary page. Choose the correct back up. If you can't find one, and you still have your device, back up your iPhone 4 again and then choose that back up. Or check for an old iCloud back up if you have one.

  • I don't have very much space left on my iCloud backup. I had a previous iPhone, my current iPhone and my iPad that are all connected to one cloud. Can I delete the backup from my previous iPhone? Will it delete in the cloud AND on the phone?

I had a previous iPhone, my current iPhone and my iPad that are all connected to one cloud. Can I delete the backup from my previous iPhone? Will it delete in the cloud AND on the phone? or does it just delete from iCloud? or does it just delete from the phone? Someone please help!

You can delete the backup without any problem. Only the backup will be deleted from iCloud and nothing else will be deleted, so you can do it without worrying about losing data on iCloud or your devices

    Hi Gazpan,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend using the steps in this article to back up your iPhone if possible:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
You may also find this advice helpful for your situation:

If you no longer have your iOS device
If you're using iCloud and Find My iPhone on the device, you can erase the device remotely and remove it from your account by signing in to icloud.com/find, selecting the device, and clicking Erase. When the device has been erased, click Remove from Account.
If you're unable to complete either of the above steps, you should change your Apple ID password. Changing your password won't remove any personal information that is cached on the device, but it will make sure that the new owner can't delete your information from iCloud.
    Cheers,
    Jeremy
