Backup of Content Server using FileSystemStorage.dll

Hello,
Does anyone know of a doecument describing the procedure for backup and restore of a content server which is using the FileSystemStorage.dll option?
Regards,
Thomas Mouritsen

Hi,
I'm assuming you using MAXDB for your content server. If yes, follow the below link for detail information on MAXDB maintenance.

Hope this helps,

  • Attach doc from external content server- using Generic Object Service (GOS)

    Dear All,
    i have intergrated an external content server to SAP using SAP archive link. All the scanned document are there in Content server and corresponding entries are done in SAP.I can search and view document using tcode : OAAD
    Please tell me steps for "how to attach a document from external content server using Generic Object Service "
    Scenario is :  For example when we change any Master records or create a new PO, or do some financial transaction then i need to attach the supporting document which is there in my content server connected  to SAP.how do we manual attach a Document in SAP using GOS.
    Do we need to do some special configuration to use GOS .please give the steps from initial.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Check your configuration of document type assignement to required business document - object type, Archivelink table, content repository in OAC3 transaction.
    Goto respective business document > Click on GOS > Create > Store business document - Here you can see defined document type with desctiption. Double click on this the assign your document to this business document. Save it.
    This will help in attaching the document to your required business document.
    To verify you can check the archivelink table or by transaction OAAD.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Content Server using MaxDB 7.6

    Dear all:
    I am running ECC5.0 using Oracle 10g and also running EHS module.  Since EHS contribute the data growth 15 times faster than other SAP modules total,  I decide to move EHS MSDS (pdf files, etc..) to content server using MaxDB 7.6 in order to slow down the data groth. I have set up the content server and the connection between SAP and content server is fine.
    I can also move the pdf files from SAP into content server and I can also access the pdf files after I moved it to content server.
    However, I would like to verify the pdf files in the content server MaxDB. Is anyway I can find out where is the data stored in the content server MaxDB? how can I find out the table name that the data stored? Like oracle, I can find out the table and run SQL to retrieve the record.  I believe MaxDB come with SQL studio that should be to do something similar but I just don't know how to approach it. Thanks.

    > I can also move the pdf files from SAP into content server and I can also access the pdf files after I moved it to content server.
    Hi LaDo,
    the Content Server schema design is actually pretty simple.
    The documents you store into the content server are saved in LONG columns. So to access this data you would have to read this binary data by a program. You cannot simply use a text-based SQL interface like sqlcli or SQL Studio for that.
    > However, I would like to verify the pdf files in the content server MaxDB. As I've written above, the data is stored in binary form and you will have to use a program that takes this data and saves a file from it.
    Anyhow to explore the content server schema, just use the SQL Studio or the DB Studio, logon as the SAP<SID> user and check what tables there are.
    There will be displayed just in the DB Objects treeviews.

  • Content server - using RSIRPIRL - how to find PHIO classes?

    Hi all
    I'm just trying to clarify how to go about tidying up our SOFFCONT1 and BDS_CONT1 tables by migrating documents from the database to a Content Server.
    Apparently Content Server is set up (via OAC0) and 'new' documents/attachments are successfully being stored in Content Server rather than the database.
    But historically this was not so, and we have a huge amount of documents stored at DB level.
    I've read note "1634908 - Reduce the size of table SOFFCONT1" and "389366 - Relocation of documents" and plan to use report RSIRPIRL to do this.
    It looks like PHIO class SOFFPHIO should be used for the SOFFCONT1 entries and "All classes which start with BDS_P" for the BDS side; but you can't enter BDS_P* in the report and I can't find a list of PHIO classes anywhere - anyone have any ideas?
    Also, I've been told that dependant on the type of document, they should go to a different repository - for example, billing documents should go to a different repository. Is this possible? There's the 'Document Area' selection but I don't think you can specify this here?
    Some notes/posts about this process also mention transaction SKPR08 - how does this fit in here? The application consultant who has set up Content Server hadn't come across it and didn't have access to run it either - is it relevant in this case?
    Is there any way of knowing how many documents there are (and their size) to be migrated? I can count the number of rows returned by RSIRPIRL in test mode but this gives me no idea of size. As there's a huge volume (the tables are about 200GB each) we need to ensure there is sufficient space in the Repository.
    Please bear in mind that I have a SAP Basis background rather than a Functional one so I'm struggling to understand this process fully and what all the different document types and classes etc mean.
    Thanks
    Ross

    Ok I've got my head around some of this...
    It seems OAC0 is used to create a Repository, say, ZH, with a Document Area, say, ARCHLINK.
    OAC3 is used to map a Document Type, say, EDXORDPDFS (purchase order PDF), to a Repository, say, ZH.
    OACT is used to map a Category, say, ZSOFFHTTP, to a Repository, say, ZH (and it's Document Area, ARCHLINK).
    SKPR08 seems to be used to map a Class, say SOFFPHIO, to a Category, say, SZOFFHTTP.
    So...
    It looks like currently OAC0 and OAC3 are used successfully to store 'new' documents in a Repository (Content Server).
    If I want to move 'old' documents to a different Repository (i.e. Content Server) then I use report RSIRPIRL which requires the following input:
    Document Area (believe this can be left blank)
    PHIO Class (for example, SOFFPHIO)
    Source Category (for example, SOFFDB)
    to move to:
    Target Category (for example, SZOFFHTTP)
    I.e. for my purposes - i.e. wishing to move things out of table SOFFCONT1 (and BDS_CONT1) - I just need to use report RSIRPIRL and to know the PHIO Class, Source & Target Categories.
    It seems that the PHIO Class I want for SOFFCONT1 entries is SOFFPHIO, but I still need to know what to use for BDS docs.
    It seems that the Source Category for SOFFCONT1 entries is SOFFDB, but again, I still don't know what it is for BDS docs.
    Target Category will be the relevant Category that's mapped in OACT to the Repository we want to use.
    I believe I don't need to use SKPR08 as I don't need to map any Classes to any Categories (report RSIRPIRL will move the Class I enter to the Category I enter).
    I believe there is no way I can use RSIRPIRL to move particular Document Types (i.e. purchase order) to different Repositories - it's done at a 'higher level' i.e. by Class, not Document Type.
    Right??
    Still struggling to understand the differences/purposes of Document Type, Category and Class though!!

  • ArchiveLink with SAP HTTP Content Server configuration using SAPdb  MaxDB

    We have configured SAP 4.7 to use ArchiveLink to store outgoing PO’s.   The PO’s are in PDF format and are to be stored on an SAP HTTP content server using MaxDB.    We believe everything is setup but when we go to retrieve a stored file, using and HTTP link we do not see the document.   Here is  a sample HTTP link:
    http://company-sap20.company200-sap.com:1090//ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?get&pVersion=0046&contRep=ZT&docId=47E9C60A28145211E10000000A0126F3
    Can anybody give me a few pointers?
    What table in the MaxDB shall I look at?  Where is the docID being passed to?

    I'm sorry to say that I don't know.
    AFAIK, the report gets documents from the document store. The Contentserver itself runs embedded in the Web-Server.
    Besides the trial to write a trace file with the Contentserver (see Contentserver.ini somewhere on your Web-Server) I strongly recommend to open a customer message.

  • Content Server Configuration to use FileSystem as Reposiroty

    Hi,
    We want to enable Content Server on our system. But instead of using the underlying database as the storage / repository we would like to use and external filesystem as a storage / repository. Also accessing the data thus stored would be using the HTTP service???
    Is there a step-by-step guide explaining how to do the configuration and enabling content server using external file system as the storage.

  • URL to content server from BI WAD not working

    Hello,

    (The URL is not to be suspected as it is working from BEX Analyser. So it seems like the URL is well generated but cut when the portal is making the jump to the Content Server).
    Any idea of what could be done to resolve this?

  • Activate the Content Server for purchasing

    Hello,
    I want to activate Content Server for PR/PO/RFQ?RFQ/SES/GR/SA/Contract.
    Followed the below mentioned step:
    1.  Configured the "Content Server" using transaction OAC0
    2. Created new document class using t-code OAD2
    3. Created / Activated new document type and associate the document class (T-code OAC2)
    4. Link Object type / Document Type / Content Repository and Link table (t-code OAC3)
    But still unable to see the "Store Business Document" navigator enabled in the Services for Object icon for PO (ME21N/ME22N/ME23N)
    Can anybody tell me if some thing i've missed out here?
    Thanks in advance

    Sap R/3 4.6C - CS630 (patch-lvl15)
    We do not use SapDB or MaxDB to store the document on the content server, we store the documents directly in the file system.
    Our Content servers run on win2003 servers.
    In my company we've currently got 15 different content servers in 10 countries.
    We've got one content server and one cache server at each location for one SAP system. One physical server has 2 content servers and 1 cache server. One for our SAP production system and one for our SAP Quality test system. They use the same cache server (first we created 2 cache servers, but it was not possible for SAP to destuingish between the two, so both cache servers got used by both SAP systems)
    We have also implemented a couple of add-ons:
    1. Conversion and viewserver (by Seal AG). conversion server converts office documents to pdf when documents are released. Currently use only 2 conversion servers, planning to increase when the volume gets larger.
    Viewserver adds stamps on pdf-files when you view or print a document.
    2. Document Distribution Manager (by CENIT AG). Makes it easy to schedule prefill of cache. Also possible to move documents from one storage category to another. And Rules for transfering documents from one site to another can be made (Ex. "not allowed to move files larger than 20 MB between <certain> sites")
    Perhaps I could be of assistance?
    BUT, anyway, the reason I post this is because I have problems upgrading my CS630 (lvl15) to CS640 (lvl6).
    Asked SAP via an OSS, and they said it was like a regular patching (stop webservice, copy *.dll files, and restart webservice). But when I try this, I can't get contact with the content server via CSADMIN in SAP. I get "HTTP error: 500 Internal Server Error"

  • Connection problem to content server.

    Hi
    First of all: I am not a basis person so forgive me for asking (I guess) a silly question.
    We are trying to upload a PDF file to our content server using this function module:
    call function 'ARCHIVOBJECT_CREATE_TABLE'
      exporting
        archiv_id                      = 'D1'
        document_type                  = 'PDF'
       length                         = ld_filelength_x
       compid                         = 'data'
    importing
       archiv_doc_id                  = l_doc_id
    tables
       binarchivobject                = lt_xdata
    exceptions
       error_archiv                         = 1
       error_communicationtable    = 2
       error_kernel                          = 3
       others                                   = 4
    But the gives the exception 1 (error_archive).
    After quite a bit of dugging we found the following error message:
    HTTP/1.1 500 (Internal Server Error)
    "CreateTab ContentStorage, connect error SQLConnect failed, [SAP AG][SDBODBC DLL][MaxDB] General error;-4008 POS(1) Unknown user name/password combination, Error Code: -4008"
    I have checked the content server setup and it do not have any certificates. Does it HAVE to have one?
    When I am trying to call http://hostname:1090/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?serverInfo no reply is given.
    Any other suggestions of what error is?

    Hi Kristian,
    You can upload document into SAP DMS by any method the destination for storage is a content server. You need to use t-code OAC0 and OACT for defining the repository. Also in CSADMIN you have to activare the certificate for the content server otherwise it will not work.
    Hope this wil help.

  • Inbound Adapter / 'Sink' failing for Content Server on Subscription Client

    I am running into an issue in configuring the Outbound - Inbound Adapters for Connection Server / Subscription Client against Content Server. The details are below. Would sincerely appreciate if anyone can help with this.
    I have installed a Oracle UCM setup together with two Content Server instances (Contribution instance and Live instance), a Connection Server and a Subscription Client - all within the same virtual machine on top of Windows XP SP2 OS and Oracle 10g Database.
    I have further configured the Outbound Adapter on the Connection Server and the Inbound Adapter on the Subscription Client. All installation and configuration has been done following the step-by-step process from the relevant installation guides.
    We have tested the connectivity between the Connection Server and the Subscription Client for a simple file-based content source and it works fine - i.e., files added to a directory registered as a source on connection server are retrieved and sent to the subscription client and received there successfully / dropped in the specified target client directory.
    However, this transfer fails for the Content Server Outbound-Inbound Adapter connectivity. We have an Archive in Content Server registered as a "CNSArchive" and exporting successfully to the CNS Server. The registered outbound adapter is successfully able to receive these updates and are visible through the Connection Server
    interface. The subscription client is also apparently able to receive these updates
    correctly and writes them to the specified folder/directory on the client;
    however fails to "batch load" these and reports a failure writing to the
    Content Sink.
    What we would like is for the ability to establish end-to-end connectivity between the contribution content server instance and the live content server using the connection server + outbound adapter on the sending end together with the subscription client + inbound adapter together on the receiving end. This is failing.
    I have double checked the cns.oracle.config (connection server config), siclone.config (subscription client config), and the source content server's configuration (config.cfg), and all seems to be well. Not really sure therefore what is causing this.
    Here is a snippet of the error trace that keeps showing up in the subscription client logs ...

    I cannot put this FM in the LOOP as Performance will be reduced.
    Can you please tell me, is there any way To Read data of All Documents at One Time.
    Thanks,

    Hi Sandeep
           I also have the  requirement of Reading contents of file saved in content server ,  and i am using same function module SCMS_DOC_READ. but the problem is if file is larger the FM is not reading all the contents as the output line is of 1022 characters only.  Can you suggest any similar FM which can read large amount of data also?

  • Storing documents with BDN to content server

    Hi,
    Could anyone please tell me if it is possible to store documents to a content server using BDN (transaction OAOR)? So far I can only store documents to the R3 database. In the Archive Link customizing the link table should be updated with the right entries containing the relevant document type, document class, and repository id.
    Every hint is much appreciated.

  • Content Server - character display problem

    We have a portal where the content is all in Italian.
    When users are adding content in Content Server, the HTML editor shows international characters correctly.
    But when they are published, these characters mess up and do not seem to be getting encoded properly.
    How can I get international characters to display properly in Content Server??

    Hi Andrew,When you add content in Content Server 5.0, the text is encoded in UTF-8 (an encoding of Unicode). Content Server uses Unicode so that content in any language of the world can be added to Content Server. However UTF-8 characters will not be recognized as UTF-8 by most browsers unless you also add a "meta" tag which identifies the data as UTF-8.
    The meta tag looks like this:<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
    Content Server makes adding the tag easy with a feature in the Presentation Template editor. Just "right-click" on the rich-text editor window and select the "Insert HTML shell" menu item. This will give you the proper <html>, <head>, and <body> tags that go with a properly formed HTML page. The meta tag will also be automatically inserted inside the <head> tag.
