Backup of Dimensions, Mappings etc

Hi,
I created some dimensions and mappings and deployed them.
Now I want to make a backup of these, because I want to re-install the OWB as there is some problem with it.
How can I make a backup of the dimensions and mappings. Also please tell me what else is necessary to take backup of.
regards
Arif

export all of those in a MDL file using owb export/import option.

  • Plug-in to see graphical representation of dimensions, cubes etc..

    Hi,
    1. In Internet Explorer, to see the various elements like RS, Dimensions, cubes and mappings etc, we need to install a plugin from adobe.com called SVG viewer, else we cant see any of the listed elements in the graphics tabs.
I'm able to instal the plug-in and hence see the elements, but on the adobe site, its says SVG viewer is no longer supported by adobe, though we can download it.
So, is there some other plugin or add-on that can be used for the purpose, which is not discontinued, if so, what is that.
This is not a show-stopper, but I'm just curious.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas.

When Adobe says that SVG viewer is not supported, all that means is that Adobe is not going to release any new patches or releases for SVG viewer. The last version available on their site still works with IOP. Over time, this svg viewer will get replaced with the Oracle EPM specific addins.

Follow this article to back up your data before syncing again to your computer:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
You can also use the camera wizard to copy your photos to your computer before you sync again.

  • Is there a way to easily batch convert hundreds of video files to h.264, while retaining the original dimensions, metadata, etc.?

I am organizing my library of stock video footage so is easily view (show to clients) and access. I need advice for two things:
First: What is a good program to catalog footage in? I am considering using iTunes because I already have it and I could setup smart folders to easily organize footage.
Second: I would like to encode all the footage to h.264 so I can preview it in Quicktime and add it to an iTunes library. My problem is all the footage is in a wide variety of dimensions, formats, framerates, strange codecs etc. I have access to Adobe Media Encoder and Apple Compressor. Is there a way to easily batch convert hundreds of video files to h.264, while retaining the original dimensions, metadata, etc.?
I have tried using a watch folder in AME but it freezes every time I add the folder...
    Thanks for any help!

Did you move the entire iTunes folder the hold Option, select Choose library and select the iTunes folder you moved?

  • When installing a system upgrade, do i need to backup my files, photos, etc. first?

When installing a system upgrade, do i need to backup my files, photos, etc. first?

No, you don't need to, but it is highly recommended. Upgrades can fail, the computer may fail, the may be a power outage, etc. Never be without a current backup. Never upgrade until after you make a backup.
I recommend making a bootable backup by cloning:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
          the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

  • Scheduling backup of my mappings everyday

    Hello
Currently, i am taking back up opf my mapping through OWB Client -> Export option. Is there any other way through which i can take export of my mappings every day.
Can I schedule the backup of my mappings every day , the way we do scheduling for backups of database ??
    -Nikita

    Hello Nalla ,
    For 1.
you need to go to the "DBA Planning calendar" (DB13,DB02) and schedule your desired backup job
"Full database backup to device" .
In "action parameters" you can specify your target directory for the backups .
    Thats it .
    For 2.
please specify your requirement more in detail

  • How to backup ARD database/settings/etc

I'm about to test Boot Camp on my one-and-only iMac (others are in classrooms and I can't trash them) and would like to know how to backup my ARD database, its settings, and the scripts, etc, that I have created in ARD before testing Boot Camp.
How do I completely backup (and restore) ARD?

In your home folder Library/Preferences/ you want to back up
    com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
(To verify that this is the file, try making a change to your ARD Admin setup, say create a new list, and note that the file changes its date modified.)

  • I have just taken delivery of a brand new 15" macbook pro, tried migration assistant from a time machine backup, music, photos, programs etc. They now take up 350gb of my hard drive but the files are nowhere to be found? can anyone help?

Set migration assistant to run whilst on a lunch break, given that it needed 2 hours or so, when i returned all programs and applications had moved across from my time machine backup of a now dead 15"macbook pro 2009 edition running snow leopard...When i look at my new system information it shows my new 500gb drive is full of music, movies and photos and has only 168gb free, not enough to run a new migration and i don't have any boot disks for Lion so really don't want to erase the hard drive. To compound the problem i'm in Vietnam where there isn't a genius bar just around the corner, or even an aasp within 700km - what should I do?

Is the HDD in the 2009 15" MBP dead?  (The original source of your data)  If not, you might want ot take it out and put it in an enclosure.
You might try spotlight on know files to see if that gives you any clues where your data is located.
You might down load from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it.  It should show you all of the files you have on your MBP and enable to locate them.
    Ciao.

  • ITunes 11.3.1 iPhone backup, where are iMessages, etc?

I have followed protocol for backing up iPhone in iTunes 11.3.1. I am now trying to retrieve texts (iMessages) and other items from this backup on my laptop.
    This page:
    iTunes: About iOS backups
says that the iTunes backup/saves *everything* on the iPhone, including iMessages: "iMessage and carrier SMS or MMS pictures and videos"
But when I go to Library > Application support > MobileSync > Backup, I see a folder with weird letters and numbers, e.g. "ac12ce21b740740a163e9538467add87b38a5a85" and within that, there are 6,291 files. All of these files have weird letters/numbers names as well, such as "0a0f38536993715a161cccfb70a0f54a07a7e52b". When I try to open one of these documents that appears to be text (dog-eared paper icon), it opens up with code. Hence, I can't look at files on my computer that the Support Page above says I have "stored on my computer".
So why is it that I can't go to the MobileSync>Backup folder and see/open these items easily on my computer?
I'm guessing that these are not files I can click and open, rather they are files that the iPhone has to see/read to be able to open them.  But again this page, iTunes: About iOS backups  says that they are "stored on your computer".
If that is the case: Follow-up question: if I buy a new iPhone and connect to iTunes, can I retrieve all the info from the previous backup of the *old* phone and put it on my *new* phone?
    thanks

As you note, it says they are stored on your computer, but it didn't say they were stored in a format that was usable for anything but a restore. That isn't unique to Apple's iPhone backups -- many types of computer backups are stored in formats that are designed only for use in restoring.
If you want to access the iTunes backup on your computer there are 3rd party utilities such ashttp://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ibackupextractor/
The "Use iTunes" section in the lower part of Transfer content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device has instructions on how to use the backup from the old phone to restore to a new one.

  • Time Machine - Backup/verify external drives, etc.?

I store files (primarily large photoshop files, and misc digital photo images) on external hard drives. I plan to consolidate all photo files from older drives to a new 4Tb drive. (Will make also make a duplicate of that drive) The older drives are of an age that they may fail at any time. I know that I can simply COPY the files to the new drive, but I won't know if any of the files become corrupted during the transfer. I used to use Retrospect, which could copy and (very slowly) verify/compare copied files. I am new to Time Machine & don't see options for transferring files from specific external drives to a designated destination. And I don't know if Time Machine verifies/compares files -?
If this is not possible, is there any way to ensure that copied files are transferred intact using OS 10.7.5? It would be impractical to open all the files after transfer.
If this is NOT possible, can anyone recommend a RELIABLE copy/transfer utility that can verify/compare copied files? I only know of retrospect -which I haven't used recently.
    Thanks

    Hello
Does anyone know if it's possible to use two separate external drives in Time Machine to backup different parts of my mbp hard drive? That is, I want to use ex.drive1 to back up work files at work and ex.drive2 to back up personal files at home. In time machine options, I can set the folders for exclusion, but currently have to set those each time I back up at home/work.
There's no easy way to do that with Time Machine. As you see, it only has one set of exclusions and one destination drive at a time.
In theory, and if you're careful, you might be able to manipulate the preference file where all that's stored. Set TM up for home, say, then copy or rename that version. Then set it up for work and do the same.
The file is at the top level of your drive, not in your home folder:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist
You could probably write an Automator workflow or AppleScript to simplify swapping the files.
    Otherwise, two alternatives:
Back up everything in both places.
Use Time Machine at home, and a different app, such as CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, at work, or vice-versa.

  • HT1386 Why doesn't my iphone show up when I plug it into my computer? I do not have a listing for "devices" and thus cannot backup my iphone contacts etc.

I am trying to backup my iphone contacts through itunes... Oddly, my iphone 4 is not visible under 'Devices' when I plug it into the USB port on the computer. It doesn't seem that I will be able to connect to or access or change anything unless my phone shows up as a Device in Itunes on the left side. Suggestions? I have tried two different ports and neither permits my iphone to show up as a device in itunes.
    Appreciatively,
    Donna

I will go back to step one on your support link that suggests checking the USB cord. or connectors I use it to charge the phone all the time but the phone does not register as a device in my computer either. I tried all four ports. Thanks. You have me off on a new path... hopefully to find a solution.

  • HT4859 Child locked my iphone and does not remember the code.  Will icloud backup store the pics, etc, or are they lost?

Hi.  Little child locked my iphone and forgot the passcode!
Will iCloud back up pics still?  i guess I have to reset?  Solutions?  she cannot remember the code.
    Thank you!

    Hey met,
You will have to restore the phone to get back in. Restore it from a backup.
iCloud still has your stuff, and I believe that backups continue as before.
Moral: Don't tell your child your passcode!

  • New Mac Pro & Need to backup e-mails/mailboxes/etc...

    Hey all...
Just got a new Mac Pro and I need to know what the sure fire way is to copy over my mail.app information from the older Mac. I know there is a FAQ on the topic but for some reason I remember trying to back-up my mail data (including emails/rss feeds/mailboxes/accounts) and really had some trouble so I'm coming to you for a "sure-fire" way to do this. I have a lot of saved emails and would hate to see them gone.
    Please Advise! Thanks!!

+Why not just clone the drive and then you'll lose nothing?+
I'm going from one TB worth of data between two 500GB drives to one 320GB drive. I'm swapping out the 2nd drive as that contains all my Music/iTunes files but the main 500GB drive is staying in the older Mac G5. And besides... I want to reinstall some apps and get a clean/fresh start (no clutter) on the new Mac. My only other concern is my iTunes Playlists and library files... But I guess that is a question for another forum.
    Cheers!

  • OWB Transactions & Recovery

    Hi there all
I have read chapter 8 in the OWB 10gR2 user guide titled "Understanding Performance and Advanced ETL Concepts".
Unfortunately, I still have a few questions regarding transaction processing etc... in OWB.
Firstly, here are the things that I am pretty sure about but would just like some confirmation:
    1. In set based, either all or none of the records are committed regardless of "Commit Frequency" or "Batch Size".
    2. In Row based, if the error count reaches the "Maximum Number of Errors", then the mapping will stop and only those records that have been updated or inserted since the last commit will be rolled back.
That is, if the "commit freuency"/"bulk size" is set to 100, then at most 99 records can be rolled back upon the mapping breaching the maximum number of errors.
Now for the things that have really got me stymied:
    3. How do I configure an OWB mapping so that upon re-start it only processes the records that "WEREN'T" processed the last time the mapping ran (i.e. when it failed)?
That is, I dont want to process incoming dimension (or more importantly) fact records multiple times just because my mapping failed last time.
    4. On a similar note, how do I configure a process flow to re-start where it left off after a failure.
That is, if the process flow failed half-way through the fact loading process, I want it to only run the fact mappings that didn't complete and none of the dimension mappings etc...
Phew, another lengthy post by a relative newbie.
If anyone can either anwer these Qs or point me in the drection of the appropriate documentation then that would be sweet!
    Thanks in advance
    Jays :-)

You are right. Voting system in CMT is irreversable. Any EJB failed transaction (throw system exception), container will rollback everything. You are not supposed to control transaction in CMT (preferred way)
