Backup of E Business 11i - General.

Hi ,
I intened on using RMAN ( well HP Dataprotector with RMAN) to backup our Oracle DB , Control Files and Archive Logs.
But what is the general feeling towards backing up Oracle Forms & associated files?
Can a "hot" backup of these occur with the Apps Services up?
What are the core areas that need to be backed up , other than the DB ( apart from config files)
Any ideas greatly apreciated.

we made backups while apps is up and running
just tar $APPL_TOP, $COMMON_TOP, $IAS_TOP and $ORACLE_HOME
but if you are using discoverer - you should delete file with dot(.)
in $ORACLE_HOME/discwb4/util after restore.
we are using 11.5.9.

Adding new Field in Business Partner General Data

Hi All,
I'm working on a mySAP CRM 4.0 implementation.
I would like to extend the business partner data with this new three field:
1) Capital Stock
2) Base Number
3) Sales pl.
The three field are Dun & BradStreet information.
I created a BSP that show all Business Partner General Data and now we want to show also those fields.
In order to extend the BP data we received two suggestion:
The first one is to use the BP marketing Attributes.
The second is to use the Easy Enhancement Workbench.
I know that advantages of the EEW is the automatic creation of the layout (BSP & DYNPRO).
Doo you have any suggestion??
It's a good solution to use the EEW??

First of all thanks a lot for the fast reply.
I have to add some information:
The end-user will use the application only in PC-UI mode (through Enterprise Portal).
We are customizing the BSP application (Accounts).
I know that in past some colleagues used the EEW to extend or to add some field to application BP. I remember that the field (after Enhancement the new fields was visible in SAPGUI mode and in BSP mode).
Now my questions are the following:
1) Are you sure that I can use EEW only 10 times??
2) We are using the BAPI (CRMXIF_PARTNER_SAVE) in order to add Business Partner in the system; after the creation of the new fields with EEW the BAPI (CRMXIF_PARTNER_SAVE) will be able to insert the new fields?? Or we need to extend this BAPI with new fields?
The second question is very important for us because we have to import in the system about 30.000.000 of Business Partners.

JHeadStart with E-Business 11i

How can I deploy JHeadStart to E-Business 11i?
My oracle application is v11.5.9, AS is v1.0.2.
V1.0.2 is not in Support Matrix.

Yes, You can now deploy JHeadstart apps to the same app server used by your Oravle Application install.
But deploying to the same app server, or integrating are two very different things. JHeadstart uses the ADF data binding, which is not yet used by Ebusiness Suite. In theory, the two can be integrated but this would require in depth knowledge of JHeadstart, ADF as well as the OAFramework and AOL.
We have no experience with such integration, but we might be able to provide on site consulting to help you with this. If you are interested to get such consulting assistance, please send an email to [email protected]

Compatibility with Oracle RAC 10g and E-business 11i ?

Hi netpros,
I am currently helping the sales guys with a tender. The customer requires the solution to be compatible for delivering Oracle RAC 10g and e-business 11i. we are proposing a combination of Cat6509E for the core with Infiniband server switches. Are these devices OK for use with Oracle. I have not much experience with Data centers and so any help is much appreciated.

It just so happens Cisco have a paper on exactly this subject (Oracle and e-business 11i) here:

The design is somewhat OTT as it includes everything which Cisco thinks may be even vaguely useful, including ACE and FWSM modules. However, it's very useful as a comparison document and does include some good design tips, and the references at the end are also worth following up.
I wouldn't want to get into the whole Infiniband vs Fiber Channel argument (the doc uses MDS switches) but both work just fine in the DC environment.

Backup Assistant - Only Business email field syncs with device?

I'm using Backup Assistant to backup my contacts. My device is a Blackberry Curve 8330. The problem is the only email field in the Backup Assistant on the web that syncs with my device is the "Business" email field. If I have a contact with more than one email address, for instance personal and business, only their business email address will sync to my Blackberry. I have a lot of contacts with more that one email, so being limited to backing up just one email is rather frustrating. Also, I have a lot of contacts with just one email and it is a personal email, but if I want it to sync at all I have to make it a Business email on the web Backup Assistant page.
This appears to just be a bug, with no known fixes that I've been able to find. Maybe someone here can shed some light on the issue.

Someone from Verizon called my phone and left a voicemail. They explained the situation. It isn't an issue or bug, it's more that the backup assistant was built for more basic phones. Plus my blackberry supports multiple email fields, but they are just email fields, not labeled "Business", "Personal", etc. I appreciate the call and explanation. Thank you.

      The general business partner is only stored for information purpose.
Contract Partner
     A contract partner is linked to the company through contract accounts and contracts. This makes
     you to possible to allocate contract account to a business partner and bill for services if the
     business partner was created with the role contract partner.

There are many PL/SQL, interface tables, web services APIs in eBusiness Suite that you can access through a SOA database adapter to upload data from BPM, through to SOA and then onto EBS. Go to the docs.oracle.com site, look for ebusiness suite and then the APIs for the product family in eBS. They are wide and varied and very useful, ranging from the TCA PL/SQL apis to apis for Receivables, payables etc. Alternatively, you can use the Oracle Applications Adapter for SOA, though a license must be paid for it's use.

Hola...
Dentro de lo que es el Service Manager, existe una opción de Backup. A través de esta opción puedes fijar la periodicidad con la que quieres que se realice el respaldo. Su configuración es simple e instintiva, debes indicar lo siguiente:
Connection: Indicas los parametros de base de datos, nombre del servidor y usuario y contraseña.
Database: Indicas cual o cuales son las bases de datos a restaurar.
Settings: Indica las rutas en las cuales quedarán tus respaldos.
Shedule: Especifica cuando quieres que se ejecute el respaldo.
El Service Manager está ubicado en Programas > SAP Business One> Server Tools --> Service Manager.
Puedes probar realizando un primer respaldo y notarás que el proceso y la configuración son simples.

How to get contacts from personal backup assistant to business cell...

I just received a business cell and I can access the backup assistant for that phone and sync it. I can do the same for my personal phone. How do I get my personal backup assistant contacts to my business phone?

I would export the contacts from Back-up Assistant as a CSV file and then import them to the other account. I don't think there's any way to link them or otherwise get them to communicate directly.

HT4972 How to Backup iPad2 in Business Environment?

I have a few question about backing up/Updating the iPad2. We have a few people at work that the job has provided them with ipads. We have already set up the ipads for the users, but I am a little fuzzy on how to make sure all data is backed up and about installing updates.
1st question: When attaching the ipad to itunes and right clicking the device and then selecting Backup, does this back up all that is on the ipad; music, apps, pics and ect? Is there a way to back up documents and settings within apps, such as notes saved in certain notepad apps?
2nd: What is the best way to backup everything for a user? I want to monthly do a backup for the users and also backup the backup on itunes to a folder on a server on our network.
Basically, I just want to get any advice/info from someone who may know the best way to back up all data on the ipad incase a users ipad decides to die or if needed for after updating a device.

This really depends on how you are managing the devices insofar as how much control you are giving the users is concerned. If they all have their own apple id and their own computer with their own itunes account and they have Apple computers you can have them back up to itunes and have time machine back up the computer. You could also set the tablets to back up automatically to iCloud with the users apple id and not use itunes at all. There are too many unknowns about your environment to offer specific advice.

Business Objects-General

Present we are using BI 7.0 In our organization,Now we want to install Business Objects .
we don't want to change present BI Like cubes,DSO's.Only we need new reports should be developed in Business Objects.
and the same BO'S should use existing reports from Business Explorer.
If possible what Business Objects Version need to install.because we don't want install whole .

you can either install BO Edge 3.1 ( < 100 end users) or BO Enterprise XI 3.1 ( > 100 end users). Additonally you need to install the int.Kit for SAP XI 3.1.
Depending on the type of usage you can additionally install the Crystal Reports Designer 2008 V1 (used to build CR reports) and the XCelsius 2008 Designer V1 (used for building highly interactive dashboards).
Ingo has written a great book regarding the integration of SAP BI and BusinessObjects tools.

Currently, 11gR2 is certified with version 11i of Apps only on the Linux platform - pl see http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2009/10/db11gr2_certified_ebs11i.html. The Solaris version of 11gR2 was released a few weeks ago and certification with 11i will take some time. Pl subscribe to Steven's blog for certification updates.

Then, this user can not search the BP (BP General role) that he created before. So, can anyone help me how to make an user display all BP General Role?

11i General Ledger : Translation and Revaluation issue.

I'll post the problem as descriptively as i can.
* The client has an Equity account under the natural code of 7341. He has not defined the GL : Owner's Equity Translation rule.
* The currency rate table shows that the rate type used for this natural code is Period
* Functional currency is USD
In August 2006, the client had made an entry to this account to the value of AUD 24,713 which was converted at journal entry point to USD 18,977. The entry was subsequently reversed in September 2008 and the USD book shows a '0' balance after it, which is correct. Just before the reversal the balance was USD 21,332 (taking into account subsequent revaluations till Aug 2008)
Client performs monthly translations and revaluations. In August 2006, the entry was translated to LKR books with a value of LKR 1,929,634. After which monthly revaluations which happened in the functional currency books also got translated and hit the LKR books till September 2008.
The total USD reversal in USD books as stated earlier was USD 21,332. This comprised of an initial entry and subsequent revaluations that were translated LKR books at different historical rates. But the reversal was translated to LKR books only on the closing rate as at September 2008. Leaving a small LKR balance of just over 100k.
Is there anyway that the client can perform the translation in such a way that after the reversal the closing value of the LKR books is also '0'. Please note that he is not willing to change the classification of the account from Owner's Equity.

Instead of reversing the Original Journal, Pass a reversal entry nullifying the effect of the Original Entry.
