Backup of SAP J2EE configuration

Hi,
is there any easier way to backup the whole SAP J2EE (6.40) configuration on an Windows 2003 Server than to backup everything in the J2EE folder (because it is very large)?
Maybe all the configuation is stored at one special place?!
Thanks and regards
Nesimi

There is one blog, which tells about XI backups..may be useful.

  • SAP J2EE Engine configuration in NWDS 7.1

    Hello everybody,
I would like to configure the SAP J2EE engine server (host and port) in NWDS 7.1.
In NWDS 7.0 I used to go in the Preference > SAP J2EE Engine and select "SAP J2EE engine is installed on a remote host" and enter the "Message server host" and "Message server port".
In NWDS 7.1, there is no "SAP J2EE Engine" in the preference and the only place where I found a field for J2EE engine was a local host only one.
How can I do in 7.1 what  was able to do in 7.0?
    Thanks in advance
    François

    Hi Fronis,
I feel you just installed NWDS CE 7.1. But there is a lenghty process to achive that. After installation of 7.1 in menu path goto help>software updates>link*(first option)>login to servicemarketplace>there are two options first select 1st after completion next select 2nd it will take long time(bcozz it will download nearly 1.7gb).
try this and let us know....

  • SAP J2EE engine for configuring Java mail Service.

    Hi
I am experiencing following exception when trying to use JAVA mail API.
    javax.mail.SendFailedException: Invalid Addresses;
    nested exception is:
    javax.mail.SendFailedException: 554 <email@ddress>: Recipient address rejected:
    Relay access denied
    email address above is valid..
I have to use SAP J2EE engine for configuring Java mail Service.
But is does not hav any such access permissions to check....!!

    Relay access denied
To send mails from SAP system through the mail server which you have configured, SAP server should be permitted to relay through the mailserver. Then only you will be able to send mail to external email address. Otherwise, you will get the above message.
You must contact the mail server administrator and ask him to add the ip of SAP server into the allowed relay list.
If you are using MS exchange server as your mail server and if you have administrative access to the Exchange box, you can do it yourself by following the below steps:
1.Verify that your Exchange computer is not an open mail relay. To do this, follow these steps:
    a.      Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
    b.      In Exchange System Manager, expand the following object:
    Servers\Your_Exchange_Server_Name\Protocols\SMTP
    c.      Right-click the virtual SMTP server where you want to prevent mail relay, and then click Properties.
    d.      Click the Access tab, and then click Relay.
    e.      By default, open relay is blocked. The default settings are as follows:
u2022     The Only the list below check box is selected.
u2022     The Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above check box is selected.
    f.      If you must permit a single computer, a group of computers, or a domain to relay through the server, click Add. In the Computer dialog box, click the appropriate selection for the computers you want to relay through the server. Then, type the required information.
Note Enabling access by IP address or by domain name is helpful for users who do not authenticate with the Exchange computer.
    g.      In the Relay Restrictions dialog box, click OK.
    h.      Click Apply, and then click OK in the Default SMTP Virtual Server Properties dialog box.
    hope this helps you out...
    Cheers,
    Jazz

  • Housekeeping and configuration of SAP J2EE

    Hello,
I would like to configure SAP J2EE in some points of administration, but I can't find any useful documentation.
First of all I want to change directory of core and heap dumps, because the fill my /usr/sap directory very fast. Nice would be to supress the dumps or regulate their size.
Second I would like to have some housekeeping jobs, like deleting old traces, logs and dumps to decrease size of SAP J2EE directory.
Do you know parameters for managing dumps and logs? If I have to do housekeeping by crontab, cronacle. UC4 or manual, which files and directories do I have to have an eye on?
    Best Regards
    Andreas

    Hello Andreas,
The location of the core and heap dump generation is set with JVM parameter.
    Here is explanation about IBM
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/javasdk/v5r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.java.doc.diagnostics.50/html/location_of_heapdump.html
For sun jdk, the following JVM options could be used
-XX:HeapDumpPath=<directory where to save the heap dumps>
Use the Log Configuration service in NWA or Visual Administrator to configure the logging.
You could find more information about that at:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/EN/e2/f410409f088f5ce10000000a155106/frameset.htm

    Help me resolve this
    Regards,
    Mahesh.

    Hi,
    Please follow this steps:
Creating RFC Destinations in the ABAP and Java Environment
You need to create the following RFC destinations in transaction SM59 (ABAP) and the Visual Administrator (Java):
    u2022 AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
    u2022 AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
    u2022 LCRSAPRFC
    u2022 SAPSLDAPI
Depending on your client settings, it may be necessary to be logged on your SAP Exchange Infrastructure host as SAP system user with the authorization to maintain customizing tables and to release transport orders. Note, that user "SAP*" or "DDIC" does not have these authorizations.
Maintaining the RFC Connections (Transaction SM59)
    1. Log on to your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host.
    2. Call transaction SM59.
    3. Choose Create.
    4. Enter at least the following:
    RFC destination: AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
    Connection type: T
    Description: <your description>
    5. Choose ENTER
    6. Choose the tab Technical settings and do the following:
    a. Select Registered Server Program
    b. In the Program ID field, enter: AI_RUNTIME_<SID> where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your Integration Server host. Use uppercase letters only.
    c. Enter Gateway host and Gateway service of your Integration Server host. To find out the required parameters:
    a. On the Integration Server host, call transaction SMGW
    b. Choose Goto u2192 Parameters u2192 Display (see entries for gateway hostname and gateway service)
    7. Choose tab Special Options and select the flag Unicode in the box Character Width in Target System.
    8. Save your settings.
    9. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 8 for the remaining destinations:
    Destination
    Values
    AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
Program ID: AI_DIRECTORY_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host
    LCRSAPRFC
Program ID: LCRSAPRFC_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host.
    SAPSLDAPI
Program ID: SAPSLDAPI_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host.
    10. Leave the transaction SM59 open for later tests.
J2EE Configuration for the Destinations (Visual Administrator)
    1. On your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host, start the J2EE Engine administration tool.
    2. Choose Cluster u2192 Server u2192 Services u2192 JCo RFC Provider
    3. In the section RFC destination, enter exactly the same program ID and gateway options for AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER that you used in the step Maintaining the RFC connection above. Additionally, set the number of processes to 10.
    4. In the section Repository, do the following:
    a. Enter the parameter for the SAP XI host: Application Server, System Number, Client and Language.
    b. For User and Password maintain the login parameters for the user SAPJSF.
    c. Select the flag Unicode.
    6. Choose Set.
    7. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 6 for the remaining destinations:
    Destination
    Values
    AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
    u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
    u2022 Number of processes: 10
    LCRSAPRFC
    u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
    u2022 Number of processes: 3
    SAPSLDAPI
    u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
    u2022 Number of processes: 3
    Testing the RFC Destination
After you have maintained all RFC destinations in both the ABAP and Java environment, you can check all the connections above as follows:
    1. Call transaction SM59 again.
    2. Open your RFC destination.
    3. Choose Test Connection. No error should be displayed.
    This will solve your problem.
    Thanks

1)is it due to mismatch of the passwords of the user SAPJ2EDB in database and J2EE Engine and Securestore of config tool
2)is there some DB related problem ?
3)i think the problem is similar to this one
Netweaver's WebAS SDM process goes corrupt, exitcode=66
But the solution there is not so clear
4)After i changed the password both in the database as well as in configtool >Secure Tool>/jdbc/pool/J2E/password..but i am getting java.sql.SQLException: [DataDirect][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'J2EE_CONFIG' this error.
Any idea on what needs to be done to fix this problem

  • HELP - AppIntegrator iView SSO to non-SAP J2EE

I've created some basic Application Integrator iViews that attempt to log in to our product via SSO using Login Tickets.
When I run our app "natively" on the SAP J2EE Engine (NetWeaver), it works fine... i get my MYSAPSSO2 cookie and I can parse it, etc.
If I try to point the same System to an instance of our app running elsewhere (on JBOSS in this instance), I am not getting the cookie, even though the configuration is exactly the same.
I'm a bit of a "newbie" so please let me know if I'm missing something obvious.  There's so much documentation available, I'm not sure what applies to me.
Alternatively, I can discontinue the use of the tickets and simply put the username in a HTTP request header... but I'm unsuccessful in getting that to work as well.
    Getting frustrated!  Please help!

Can't anyone help me with this one?
I'm running myself around in circles.
I have now discovered (no small means), that my EP and target app server must be in the same domain... they are.
But when i fully qualify the domain name in my system definition, the iView no longer gets to the target system... i just get a blank page.
This is on NW SP16, if that's of any help.
This is getting urgent and I would appreciate any advice.

  • Low Network Utilization in Remote Disk Backup via SAP FTP

    Hi gurus,
I'm running whole online backup + redo log to backup my SAP server to backup server via SAPFTP (remote disk backup).
I'm using 100Mbps network connection between the two servers, with SAP server configured to 'maximize data throughput for network application'.
When I copy data from SAP Server to backup server manually, the speed is OK (around 98% network utilization).
But when I use put command in program RSFTP002 (SAPFTP) for the same file, the network utilization is just around 10%.
I use Windows Server 2003 x64 for SAP Server, and Windows Server 2008 x64 for Backup Server.
Each has adequate RAM, 8GB for SAP Server and 4GB for Backup Server.
Is this technical problem or is it because backup is considered background process, thus lowering its speed?
Help will be very much appreciated.

    go read http://help.sap.com/saphelp_45b/helpdata/en/0d/d311324a0c11d182b80000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
it's old but should help you nonetheless.
I would not use SAPFTP as you found out, it is slow.
use DD instead which is much faster.

  • Error when starting SAP J2EE Engine Log Viewer Service

    Hi,
    I'm running SAP EP6 SP14.
I need to make the default trace log file on the WAS Server (Windows) available to the developer's. For this goal, I am attempting to install and start the SAP J2EE Engine LogViewer Service on the WAS. I think I have configured the service.ini file appropropriately. When I register the service, I get a successful message that the service has been registed. The service even shows up in the Windows Service Manager.
However, when I attempt to start the service, the process fails after a 4-minute attempt. I eventually get an error popup saying
"Could not start the SAP J2EE Engine Logviewer service on the Local Computer"
"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion".
The service shows as "starting" until I reboot the WAS.
The logviewer.bat runs fine on the WAS itself.
I can also connect from the client to the WAS thru the J2EE connection, but that requires the admin password. I'd rather get this approach to work.
    Regards,
    Kevin

    Hi,
I have the same error during starting the service. How did you resolve that error?
    Regards
    Sabine

  • Problem while extending and modifying the ISA B2B app on SAP J2EE 6.4

We are facing some problem with extending and modifying the ISA B2B 4.0 application.
First Let me clarify you the whole scenario.
Previously we had ISA B2B 4.0 SP03 deployed on SAP J2EE 6.20 Engine.
We had used eclipse 3.0 to extend and modify the application as NWDS does not support SAP J2EE 6.20.
We had used ant buildtool to build the modified application which comes along with the ISA Software Archive.
We had successfully done all the modifications and application was running fine...
Now we have upgraded the overall J2EE infrastructure and using J2EE 6.4 Engine which supports NWDS.
We have successfully deployed the ISA B2B  application which comes along with the Support Package.
We are using Support Package ISAWAC40SP11P_7-20000529.SAR E-Selling 640. The application is working fine after all
the configuration done in XCM and SAP CRM 4.0 system.
Now for modification and extension i have created another b2b enterprise archive with name "b2b_client.ear" using ant buildtool.
I've done the modification and extension .. added some Z classes and JSP pages. Now when i try to deploy the application using
SDM 6.40, I got an error message stating
<b>"com.sap.sdm.util.sduread.IllFormattedSduFileException: The archive must be deployed with a 6.20 SDM, which has a SDM-SDA compatible version 1 or greater."</b>
I think this error is due to the incompatible sda_build.xml used in the build process but we have used the same xml file bundled with the above mentioned ".sar" file..
Please help or suggest someone who can help me out from this...
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi Alkis.
First, you need to specify the fully qualified class name of your based-RequestProcessor class in the config.xml file like
    <controller  contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"  locale="true"  nocache="true"
      processorClass="com.mycompany.struts.framework.MyRequestProcessor"/>
If you review the source code of the ActionServlet and RequestProcessor classes, you can see that overwritten methods (by you) are executed every time the client makes a request to the struts based application.
I hope you can run your approach. And it will be excellent you can shared how you will do it.
    Kindest regards.

  • Communication issue btw applications on SAP J2EE Engine6.20 & Websphere 6.0

We have a customized SAP IPC application running on SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 and it is communicating with another application called Common Configurator or C2 running on WebSphere 4.0.5.
Communication between customized SAP IPC application and C2 application is over RMI IIOP. SAP IPC application calls methods on stateless session beans in C2 application.
Going forward, we want to connect to C2 running on Websphere 6.0 from this customized SAP IPC.
When I am trying to connect to C2 on Websphere 6.0 I am getting the following
    exception :
org.omg.CORBA.BAD_PARAM:   minor code: 0  completed: No
         at org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextHelper.narrow(NamingContextHelper.java:48)
         at com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtx.setOrbAndRootContext(CNCtx.java:278)
         at com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtx.initUsingUrl(CNCtx.java:251)
         at com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtx.initOrbAndRootContext(CNCtx.java:188)

         at javax.naming.InitialContext.init(InitialContext.java:217)
         at javax.naming.InitialContext.<init>(InitialContext.java:193)
But the same setup is working fine for SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 and Websphere 4.0.5.
Has anybody faced similar issue before ?
Could anyone tell me what could be the possible reasons and how can I preceed on this.
    Additionally,
SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 uses ORB implementation of the Sun JDK (1.3). And Websphere 6.0 is based on JDK 1.4 version.
    Thanks in advance.
    Harman

This is what class org.omg.CORBA.BAD_PARAM all about :
<i>Exception thrown when a parameter passed to a call is out of range or otherwise considered illegal. An ORB may raise this exception if null values or null pointers are passed to an operation (for language mappings where the concept of a null pointers or null values applies). BAD_PARAM can also be raised as a result of a client generating requests with incorrect parameters using the DII.
It contains a minor code, which gives more detailed information about what caused the exception, and a completion status. It may also contain a string describing the exception.</i>
<b>And Websphere 6.0 is based on JDK 1.4 version.</b> The JDK of websphere is an IBM implementation and differs a lot from the sun implementation. As well, WAS6.0 supports J2EE 1.4 also...may be you should check the release notes / documentation of WAS for compatibility issues if any.
