Backup Problems - Lost photos and videos

I have just taken delivery of the 4G and it doesn't seem to have picked up on the "Camera Roll" photos and videos that I had with the 3GS. I made sure to back up the old phone before retoring it to factory settings (I have sold it).
When I tested it to make sure that all my info was off the old phone iTunes was still showing it as my account. So, probably stupidly, I logged out of my account, renamed the phone and restored it again. This didn't help but I think it may have "lost" the photos and videos that I had previously.
I have looked on the laptop for the files to try and restore them manually but without luck. Can you tell me where they may be and how I might recover them?

The camera roll (photos taken by the iphone or ipod screen snaps) are not backed up with a sync. They must be extracted from the iphone3G prior to restoring it using iphoto(mac) or a digital camera wizard(windows).

I have backed up to icloud and iphoto, however, some of the pics are no longer on iphoto either. Is there someway to get the videos to play on my phone again? Make the photos not as blurry as they are now and to restore the pics and videos that have been lost? I really would love to have them back, this phone is supposed to be the best and right now it doesn't seem to be. Please help if you can.

I too have noticed that once i restored from iCloud. Pictures blurry and videos wont play!

You can always restore from your back up, assuming your back up was last taken before your video was deleted.

Hi,
I updated my Ipad mini this morning to 7.1.1, and after it failed to update, I tried to install again, after which it went into recovery mode. It looks like the last successful cloud backup was 6 months ago, so I have lost 6 months of photos and videos of my young baby.
Photo stream was turned on, so my question is - can I recover the lost photos/videos from photostream somehow?
Some feedback for Apple: fix your upgrade process, and if there is even an outside possibility that it will remove all my photos and videos as part of the update, make doing a full backup before the update mandatory.

Thanks for this! I've found and saved the file as you explained, and I've downloaded the software, however I can't see how I upload teh file into touchcopy - can you help? I've tried right clicking on the file, open with and choose touchcopy, but it just keeps looking for my iphone. Thanks!

Recovering lost photos and videos

I recently deleted a lot of photos and videos on my iPhone 5. I am trying to get them back. I am pretty sure I have backed my phone up on iCloud before I deleted them. Please help me get them back

To restore from iCloud you will need to first go to settings>General>Reset>Erase all settings and content
This effectively erases all content on your device and then when you go into the actvation process you will choose to restore the device using the icloud backup in which your pictures are stored. A simple matter of retstoring your device from the icloud backup where you backed up your pictures.

Lost photos and videos

I upgraded from 3GS to 4s. I took a bunch of pictures on my new phone and when I connected my phone to iTunes, it eraced all of the photos and videos. Is there anyway I can retrieve them?

If you did not back the new phone up then no. You might want to turn off automatic sync on your iTunes to help prevent this type of action. Also, when you get a phone replaced, it is also a good idea not to do anything with it until you have restored your backup from the previous device. I'm assuming that is what you did before you finished the device setup?

Problems viewing photos and videos

I have just got my Z1 compact and noticed that when I open camera and select to the pictures (little box bottom right of camera gui) if the phone is in the normal upright position the selection panel (panel where you select which application you want to view the photos with) is incorrectly orientated as if the phone has been rotated like landscape mode see screen shot below but I was holding the device in the normal useage position upright so basically the picture should be rotated right by 90 degrees - is this the normal way it works?
Also there doesn't seem to be a gallery application or should I use Albums or photos as shown in the screen shot

Lost photos and videos after a restore on ipod touch

I forgot my ipod touch passcode while out of town. I visited the apple store for help and they restored it to factory settings and recommended that I restore it from my itunes account when I returned home. In the mean time, I took amazing photos in a foreign location. When I got home, I restored my ipod and, after it synced, learned that my amazing photos had been deleted during the restore. Is there any way to recover those photos/videos? Please help!

Not now. There was chance before you restored your iPod on your computer.

I am having a big problem I tried to use a back up but that didn't work out well.

You should be importing all pics and vids taken with iphone regularly as you would with any digital camera, most especially before any update or restore
If you failed to do this, then they are very likely gone.
All you can do is try a restore from backup

HT4236 All photos and videos lost after first sync on Iphone 5s and cant retrieve after backup

Hi...new to this so please be gentle....plugged in my Iphone 5S to upload holiday photos and videos, the phone has sync'd them? and i clicked on backup and now i cant retrieve them at all?...tried to reset to the backup time but they are gone...any ideas or are they gone for good?

I plugged in my phone to update to the latest software. After a while, I went back to the PC and it said there had been a problem and that I needed to restore the factory settings.
I am worried that I will lose all the photos and videos that I have on the phone. How do I get them off.
When I now plug the phone it the screen looks like when you first get it - i.e. itunes logo and asking me to plug in.

If the device has been used as designed, the pics and via taken with the device would have regularly been copied off to a computer.
The first step in the update process via iTunes on the computer is a backup.
Restore the device from the most recent backup.
If data is lost, then it is merely the fault of the user for not backing up the device or saving their data regularly.
Once the device is in recovery mode, the ONLY option is to restore.
