  • How to create multiple backup profiles for 2  disks?

Before I screw this up, I wanted to check with others here to see if I'm correct with my plan to use 2 disks to create 2 different types of backups.
I have 1 external HDD that's always hooked up to my iMac. This HDD is for full machine backups. However, I have a WD Passport drive that I want to use to back up multimedia (i.e. iTunes and iPhoto libraries). The last time I plugged in this drive, it screwed everything up... probably because Time Machine kicked in before I could exclude the Passport drive from the backup and the other HDD was near full.
What I was thinking I need to do is:
    1.) Turn Time Machine off
    2.) Mount the Passport drive
3.) Go into Time Machine perferences and select Change Disk
4.) Go into Options and deselect everything except our iPhoto and iTunes libraries (yuck... there should be a way to just select what you want)
5.) Turn Time Machine back on
    6.) Run the backup
7.) Go back and change the disk back to my regular backup disk
This is ugly and seems error prone. Is there a better way to do this? Perhaps just deselect my Passport drive and write an Automator task for this? I'd like to do incremental backups, so that doesn't seem like a good solution either.
    Thanks

    Curt,
Time Machine settings are machine-specific, not "backup-specific." In other words, any exclusions you make will persist across any backups you make.
If you wish to make backups of your iTunes and iPhoto libraries, it would be better to do so manually. When you connect a drive that you might use for this purpose, simply open the Time Machine preferences and place that drive in the excluded list; there's no need to turn Time Machine off beforehand (if you exclude the drive while a backup is in progress, Time Machine will recover nicely and restart the backup).
In making your "additional" backup, I recommend using optical media. Burn your music to audio CDs, which could be re-imported into iTunes. Do the same with your images, which you would naturally burn to CDs/DVDs according to event or subject, then file those disks in an organized fashion. This will help you to keep your images organized, and you will feel safe in deleting some content from iPhoto as your need for it approaches nil. This in turn will help in taking the load off both your startup disk space requirements and Time Machine requirements.
A second external drive could be used to store those libraries, too, but I would do this in addition to the method described above. Optical disks, while bringing their own vulnerabilities, are less prone to failure than hard drives. One might lose the data on a single CD/DVD due to damage, but the rest would be OK. Store everything on one hard drive, and every file is dependent on the vitality of that one device. Overall, optical media wins out on this score. Then, there is the important issue of organization. A single drive allow one to be sloppy; use of optical media encourages (perhaps even enforces) the use of some type of file organization.

My Windows 7  crashed a couple days ago after a windows update, I got this message.
Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.
I restarted the machine and got this message

How can I get access to my user profile? do I need to createa new Administrator account? Please help
The EventSystem sub system is suppressing duplicate event log entries for a duration of 86400 seconds. The suppression timeout can be controlled by a REG_DWORD value named SuppressDuplicateDuration under the following registry key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\EventSystem\EventLog.

    hi do the following
    1. In Search programs and files (Windows 7) area, type in regedit, and press Enter.
    2. If prompted click yes,
    3.  expand the following HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
    4. click the sid that related to your admin profile (if you not sure, click each sid and in turn look to the right hand side of registry editor it will show who that sid is related to one of the registry files should hae in description localhost\admin or
    something similair)
    5. right click the sid and press delete.
    6. restart your machine and log back on with the admin account, this will then rebuild the admin profile... dont worry when it loads and none of your personal settings are saved or files or folders... go to c:\users
in here you will see two folders for the admin account, one will be just admin and the other most likely admin.localhost
i cant remember which one is which but just check both, one will still have all your files and folders in it.
i suggest making a backup of your data before doing this incase something does go wrong, but ive had this happen many times in a domain enviorment and has worked for me everytime.

  • Rescue and Recovery: No backups available for "local hard drive" with Full Restore

I can see all my backups in "view all backups" and can restore individual files, although when I select the option for "full restore", it reboots my PC and brings up the Rescue and Recovery interface which gives me the option for "full restore".  When I select "full restore", it asks me to select the source.
As my backups are stored on my local hard drive, I select that source, however the scroll box is empty (no backups available for selection).
Can anyone recommend a solution to fix this problem, or should I remove and re-install Rescue and Recovery, then create new backups (and hope they appear in the list for full restore)?
I am running Rescue and Recovery 4.21.0016.00 on a Lenovo T61p with XP SP3.
    Thanks.

    Also, I have RnR 4.00.0117.00.
Where do I find and how do I delete these massive files?

  • Idoc setup::Partner profile for Logical system

    HI All,
I am using Idocs to transmit my invoice details from ECC to PI, but every time I do this for a new customer I have to setup a partner profile for the customer whose invoice is to be sent. I setup the partner profile using WE20, I setup the partner profile for partner type KU(Customer) in the we20,
Is there any way we can setup partner profile for LS(Logical system) in we20 & I don't have to setup partner profile for each & every customer for which Idoc is to be generated.
Please provide some useful information/help to handle this business scenario.

  • Just one partner profile for SAP XI?!

    Hi,
well i have some thoughts concerning configuring the partner profile on sender side.
I have different systems to which e.g. IDocs will be send to. Therefore i was thinking to set one partner profile for each connected system.
But on the other hand it is also possible to just configure one partner profile, e.g. called SAP XI, and seperate the different IDocs inside this partner profile because of different Message-Types of the Outb-parameters, and inside this because of the IDoc-Type.
So what is the most propriate way to solve this, is there a suggestion by SAP?!
    thx in advance, Jens

    Hey guys,
Just thought I'd add my experiences here.
In one of our implementations we created partner profiles with respect to XI. We had multiple source systems , but the Target ECC team was like, we do not care who sends the data to XI, as far as we are concerned we get data from XI. So we create only one partner profile. We agreed to this and so all Idoc's posting from XI had the XI as the sender partner name. The project went into production and things were fine.
Then comes the next release. And what do we realise, that the same Idoc will not be posted from XI but for different source systems with different formats. The Inbound processing for the idoc was also being changed stating that Idoc from Source system A  needs to be processed with this T code and Idoc's from System B with this code. reason was different bsuiness rules across different geographies.
Now, at this juncture we realised in vain that it would have been better had we maintained the partner profiles with respect to the End Systems . having it with respect to XI caused issues in the fact that we are unableto trace out which Idoc belonged to which system.
Since, then we always recommend all partner profiles with respect to End Systems and not with respect to XI. Helps the business also understand how many idoc's were posted for which source system and so on.
Just my 2 cents and experience here. Would love to heard more on this topic as well.

  • Replicate Response Profile and Service Profile to ECC

    Hi
In our client environmen we will be charging customer for various priorities of SLAs defined. And some more complex calculation for pricing, again dependent upon these. For this we have to replicate Response Profile and Service Profile to ECC. Which will be used for pricing in service order.
If you have worked on similar type of scenario, please guide me how this can be achieved.

  • The factory profile for this display could not be found

Just received a new (mid-2012) macbook air (13"). Started it up from time machine from my old macbook pro.
The new screen seemed a bit blue so I thought I'd calibrate the display. But I don't seem to be able to. I don't get the Display Calibrator Assistant. I just get 'The factory profile for this display could not be found'. Please help if you can?

    Thanks for the feedback.
With Pacifist, a search should show everything in a separate search results window. That feature might only be available in the paid mode. If you're reinstalling once a month, you might reconsider how you're using the machine. If you made frequent bootable backups/clones to an ext FireWire HD and also did a Time Machine backup to another disk/volume/partition, you'd probably minimize doing that. I haven't done an A&I installation but once the past six years. That doesn't include purposeful ones done while beta-testing Panther, Tiger, and Leopard.

  • Profiles for ERP Sales Order

    Dear experts,
I'm trying to configure our CRM 2007 system (upgraded from CRM 4.0) in order to call ERP Sales Order functions from the the new CRM WebClient UI. The ERP background system is ECC 5.0.
    Issue Description:
In standard, we should have 2 default profiles for ERP Sales Orders: DEFAULT and SALESPRO but I can't see them. I think those entries will allow us to call some ERP Sales Order functions from CRM. When I try to recreate them manually, a short dump occurs.
    Steps for reconstruction:
    1. CRM > Interaction Center WebClient > Business Transaction > ERP Sales Order > Define Profiles for ERP Sales Order
    2. Select SALESPRO and double-click on Assign Document Types to ERP profiles in the left menu
    3. Select New Entries and select SALESPRO for the ERP Sales Order Profile
    4. Select a Document Type using the F4 search. Short dump occurs and can be analysed in the ECC system (SLS_LORD_GET_VALUES_AUART)
Do you have any idea why this short dump occurs?
    Thanks in advance
    Stephanie

    Hi,
see ERP Sales Transaction in CRM 2007 for details.
They say that you can connect only a ECC6.0 to CRM, not any older versions.
Unfortunately I cannot check this statement.

You can redirect <Profile>\<AppData>\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to a folder on another drive using NTFSLink (shell ext., might only work on XP) or Junction (cmd line tool).
In essence you move the existing folder to a new location, create an empty folder where the old one used to be, then get the operating system/tool to link the two togther and silently redirect any file operation on the old location through to the new one.
