Backup - restore and missing app

Hi,
I upgraded from IOS4 to IOS5 during this progress I was prompted "backup your Iphone?" yes to my Mac airbook external drive.
After upgrades I was missing all (notes, pictures adresser etc)
I tried to restore but Itunes only pop´s up an older backup.
Where can I find the newest backup?
secondly
I miss a App (100 dollar) where can I find this without repurchacing?
BR
Lieuwe

I had a 'glitch' during a power outage that required me to restore from the backup. The app folders appeared only where a website shortcut had been stored in the folder. After investigating what got restored and what didn't, I attempted a second restore from backup (no sync operation attempted). The results were the same. I'm actually glad the results were the same in some respects since it indicates a consistent (but incomplete) backup/restore operation. Note, even the folders that did get recreated (with website shortcuts) did not have their apps correctly restored, there appeared to be no pattern to what happen.
To the persons who did the 'double restore'; how many apps do you have on your iPhone?. Was it less than the iOS 3 limit of 180 (including Apple Apps)? I have about 300 apps which means they don't 'fit', without folders, within the 180 app limit. I'm thinking that the double backup worked since you had less than the 180 app limit, but I'm not sure without knowing the number of apps you have.
The unanswered question is: Does iTunes backup the app folder configuration and can it correctly restore the folder configuration (apps correctly placed in folders)? Since I had the glitch iTunes has been upgraded twice (if I recall). Did the upgrades fix the app folder issue? I don't really want to be the one to test this since it takes hours to rebuild the folder/app configuration.
Thanks for any help.

  • Did backup before restore and my Apps are gone.

Yesterday I updated my Ipad. I made SURE to do the backup first.
It said backing up ect....when It asked to restore from backup I said
yes...and?....none of my purchase apps appear on my pc, and are gone
    from the Ipad.
    Really *****.

This doesn't help with the restore process frustration (yike!), however to regain your apps: you can re-"buy" your apps from the App Store. iTunes will recognize that you've already bought the app (even though the "installed" message doesn't appear in the Store) and prompt as to whether you're sure you want to re-download the same app. Select OK, and the app will be re-installed.
I was lucky; I only lost one app during my last update process, and I received the above instructions from iTunes Support. I'm sure you're not looking forward to replacing all of your apps this way, though, and it would be nice to know why iTunes seems to randomly decide that it's not giving you back an app or 100.

  • IPhone 4s: Backup, Restore, and updating questions??

So, over the course of the last couple weeks, my iPhone 4s has been lagging, freezing and some apps are crashing. I'm assuming I should do a restore on the phone. I've never done one before, so I'm a little nervous about it. So I have some questions before I get started.
    1) If I restore my iPhone to factory settings and then restore my latest backup will the problems that I'm having still persist? I still have 6GB of empty space on my phone (I have the 32GB) so I don't think the lagging is caused by the phone being too full. I'm just wondering if I load from the backup will the issue that's causing the phone to lag/freeze/crash just be put back on the phone when I do the restore?
    2) I haven't yet updated to iOS 8 because a few people I know did it with their phones and it essentially rendered their phones unusable. I was wondering if I HAVE to update to the new iOS when I do a restore? I've heard mixed reviews on the performance of iOS 8 on the 4s, and I don't want to make any problems worse.
    3) If I do the reset to factory setting and then restore from my backup, will everything that's on my phone at the time of the backup be put right back on the phone? Will all of my photos, contacts, game data etc be transferred? Essentially, I just want to make sure that nothing at all is lost in the restore process.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how to make this as painless a process as possible I would appreciate any and all input.
    Thank you in advance!

What can happen after doing an update is something doesn't go quite right - the phone will work fine, but you'll notice odd stuff, like it being slower than usual, locking up, etc. A restore usually resolves that.
If the phone seems to lock up in general (ie: not just in a certain app), then doing a restore is worth doing. If a particular app tends to lock up, the issue is likely with that app.
Wiping the phone and restoring re-installs the iOS from scratch, which will get rid of any issues that may have during an update.
You do have to install iOS 8 at this point - Apple will, for a very short time, continue to sign older versions of iOS after a new one is released, but that usually only lasts a few days, if that.
From what I've read, the 4S runs iOS 8 just fine. Initially, you may notice it running more slowly, but you shouldn't notice that after using it for a while.
As for what gets transferred back - I know from an iTunes backup, you get everything - essentially a mirror image of what your phone looks like when you do the backup. Not sure if the same is true for an iCloud backup.
    Hope that helps

  • Windows 8.1 Enterprise and unattended answer file and missing apps

    Hi,
Have just created a new WIN8.1 x64 enterprise image on a vm and captured it using the capture media.
I have imported it into SCCM 2012 R2 and have created a new deployment task and have sent it out to a test computer.
Once the computer has reimaged, and the task completes, a user logs on and no apps appear at all. not even the default apps like bing, news, weather etc. Just IE, Desktop etc.
In my task sequence, nothing really special happens, other than install image, apply drivers and join domain. I have also made a unattended file to skip through OOBE stuff that happens and to
make sure locale is EN-AU. This is set at Apply Operating System.
What am I doing wrong or missing?
I all I want is the default  windows 8.1 apps to appear for each user who logs on.  There is no need to do a copyprofile as i have not made any modifications to the user account
    during image build.
I did not update the apps before taking the image.

  • Failed iTunes sync requires restore, and lost apps

On Sunday, 24 January 2010, I sync'ed my iPhone, however the next time I used the phone itself. At the end of the sync, I received an error message that stated that some apps may not have sync'ed properly, but the phone appeared otherwise functional.
I found that I had some difficulty in running any music apps, including the iPod app itself. I attempted to re-sync the phone on 25 January 2010, and received an error message stating that I needed to restore the iPhone to its original settings.
I had downloaded at least three apps directly into my phone (outside of iTunes), which disappeared from my phone following the restore (and apparently had not been re-added to the phone following the restore. One of these apps -- Low Grav Racer -- is a paid app and I would like to be able to download it without having to pay for it again.
Does anyone know how I can re-download the app without having to re-purchase it?

    HI,
Tap the Settings icon on your iPhone.
Then tap General, then scroll down and tap Reset. Tap: Reset All Settings
Now connect your iPhone to your computer and try restoring your Applications.

  • This restored my missing apps after belle update (...

I see a few people with missing Apps after installing Belle, so as I seem to have stumbled upon a solution I thought I'd post it to help a few people out.
I removed my memory card and then reran the Belle installation process from Nokia Suite.
All the apps that were missing after the several previous times I ran the update, are now on my phone.
Hope this works for a few other people too!

this was the obvious first thing I did. It did not work for me.

  • Hi ! Backup, Restore and attach database!

    Hi all !
I'm stuyding SAP Business One for a month.
In SAP, i don't know, how do i backup, restore, attach database?
    Please tell me !
    Thanks and Rgds !

    Hi,
    Ignore this error.
Just use DBUA from 10.2.0.5 directly after error (ORA-39700) be raised by RMAN, DBUA will perform all tasks required and will perform the upgrade of the database..
    I've done this many times

  • Single Tablespace Backup, Restore and Recovery

    Hi Experts,
I need your kind help. Actually I want to take hot backup by RMAN for a particular TABLESPACE ..
I know this is possible. My question is when I restore a tablespace to any other test database
I need to create new database or I can restore it to any existing database? Just like adding new tablespace??
To recover this tablespace I need to archive log backup ?
How I can open the database on which I m going to restore/recover this particular tablespace ???
    Regards,
    Rizwan

You cannot copy a tablespace from one database to another using the normal Backup/Restore methods.
You have to use the TTS (Transportable Tablespace) methods.

  • Need to restore and missing dbf file - help please

    hi there,
im in a desperate situation so any advice would be welcome.
im running Oracle 9.2.4.6 on aix. 5.2
2 weeks ago i added a dbf file to one of the tablespaces , as a symbolic link. Im almost certain that this dbf file has not been used as there was still lots of space in the tablespace.
ive had 3 disk crash on me - which means i have had to do a full recovey , and then use the archive logs to roll forward.
but i have now discovered that this new dbf has not been backuped up because its a symbolic link.
so i dont think im going to be able to open the database, or roll forward.
(im still restoring the files so not had a chance to try it yet)
the disk crash means i have lost disk files and the system files.
am i able to recover from here if i need to. ie rebuild indexes and system
    any other ideas?
    thanks if you can help

  • Did backup, restored and all Notes are gone

I did a sync and then performed a restore. I seem to recall an update might have been done during the restore. None of the notes in the NOTES app are there now. Had some very important notes of meetings there.
I have done a soft reboot. Notes was not set up to sync to Mail. All of the other Apple apps were successfully restored. Only my NOTES app came back with nothing restored. I've tried iPhone Backup Extractor but the instructions I followed were for a jailbroken iPod. Messed with Disk Aid 4.12 but could not figure it out either. Can these lost notes somehow be transferred to my iPod Touch?? Anybody have a solution? Certainly would be appreciated.

You guys talking about nots in Mail or the Stickies?
If in Mail, open Mail, click on the Notes mail box to display the Notes list. If the Notes mail box is gone, just create a new note and the Notes MB will be back. Once in the Notes MB, launch TimeMachine (assuming you have one) and go back in time until your notes reappear. Select all and click 'Restore'.

  • TS1420 I updated my ipod to 5.1.1 and now it wont sync downloaded music onto my ipod. All the music I purchased through itunes went on the ipod during backup restore and my downloaded music went into my itunes library but won't sync onto my ipod.

I updated my ipod touch to 5.1.1 and did a system restore. All of my purchased music from itunes went back on along with photos and apps but now it won't let me sync music that I downloaded. All of my music that was imported from cd's synced but not my downloaded music from internet. They went into my itunes library but they are a light gray and have a little sync symbol next to them. I've tried dragging them into different folders but nothing is working. I read that others were having problems with this update but didn't get any answers.

After you have updated your device to version 5.1.1, have you tried resyncing everything from your iTunes yet?

  • Backup/restore and drag/drop .emlx back into mail......

    bit of a curly one,
Okay, I backed up a user's folder full of emails onto disc, so I could delete it (As it's taking up heaps on the server... they're using imap)
anyway...is there any way to drag/drop the .emlx files back into say a folder "on the mac" so that it can be visible on the hard disk in Mail?

First of all, you should realize that you’ve been making backups of data stored locally on disk, not of the messages stored on the server. Hence, in general, those backups may or may not allow you to restore your mail depending on a number of things, such as the account settings and the format used by the mail client to cache messages locally (if any).
If Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Keep copies of messages for offline viewing is set to All messages and their attachments (the default setting), then Mail 2.x maintains a local copy of server-stored mailboxes using the exact same format it uses for locally stored mailboxes, except the suffix of the mailbox folder in the filesystem is .imapmbox instead of .mbox.
You cannot import *.imapmbox mailboxes directly into Mail because when you do File > Import Mailboxes and choose Mail for Mac OS X as the data format, Mail looks for *.mbox folders only, but if Keep copies of messages for offline viewing was indeed set to All messages and their attachments when the backup of those mailboxes was made, you can easily overcome that limitation by just changing the suffix to .mbox:
    1. Copy the entire ~/Library/Mail/IMAP-username@mailserver account folder from the backup to the Desktop.
    2. Change the .imapmbox suffix of the folders within the account folder on the Desktop to .mbox.
    3. In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Mail for Mac OS X as the data format, and follow the instructions to import the copy of the account folder that’s on the Desktop.
