  • Cannot conect router WRT54gc linksys router using windows 7

when I connect router correctly via modem I get message not connected no matter what I do I am convinced I am doing nothing wrong having used linksys router a number of times before about 2 years ago using XP cannot someone help before I climb the wall to throw myself off please I am now connected to router now to get on internet to this site help please wanted

Let me know the name of the ISP- means it’s a cable connection or a DSL connection? Do you get the internet connection when you connect the modem directly to the computer? If yes, what IP address do you get on the computer? To check the IP address that you are getting from the Router...
You can check the IP address in the following manner:
    # Click on Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt.
    # A black pop up box should come up, type: "ipconfig /all" …
There check the IP address and Default Gateway under LAN….

  • Backup & restore Configuration Cisco router (RV082 & RV042)

    Hi,
I have a small business and I would like to change the current router (RV082) with a new one (RV042), and I'd like to know how to transfer the same configuration in my new router.
    thank you

You can use 3rd party application such as Ghost to back up the drive.

  • Backup / Restore configuration

Customer does a (xml) backup of a UCS domain with 4 chassis; then he erases the configuration, does a inital setup and then a restore.
He was quite surprised, that the numbering of the chassis has been changed ?
Has this something to do with the flag "preserve identities", which he forgot to tick ?

Yup, always use "preserve identities" if you might have to restore from the xml file. It's not needed if you want to create a "gold image" to push to other Interconnects.....

  • Connect Old Laserjet 4 to New Linksys Router Using JetDirect J2552a

I have an old LaserJet 4 with an old JetDirect J2552a card that cannot take the firmware update. I was somehow able to use it on the network, but another device has taken 192.168.1.100 and it will no longer work. Any suggestion? Something that I can buy?

For further troubleshooting.  I found the solution (Google is your friend).
It looks like for the Linksys E4200 (and others as well) VMM must be enabled to make some chipsets (Intels and Apple are mentioned) able to connect using 802.11n.  VMM in actived under QOS settings on the E4200 unit.
After this was done, all works ok.

  • Backup/restore my iPad and iPhone using Time Capsule?

    Hi,
I'm considering to get the Time Capsule but I don't know if it is possible to backup my iPad and iPhone in the Wireless hard drive. If anybody has tried that it would be great if you can share how to do it.
    Thanks!

iPad and iPhone back up to iTunes on your computer....or....to iCloud.
If you back up to iTunes, when your Mac backs up to the Time Capsule, the data in iTunes is included.
More info on iOS backups is in this Apple support document:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
If your question is whether an iOS device can backup directly to the Time Capsule, the answer would be no.

  • Installing Linksys Router for DSL

    HELP!!
    Here's what I did first:
Pulled off instructions from Linksys "Setting Up DSL on a Linksys Router Using an Apple/Mac computer".
    Second:
Inside the router package is the document "start here" , with a Run CD First. Inserted cd , never prompted - took that out.
Now my confusion: should I start where??? I'm no good at the technical part. I'm trying.
    Any suggestions.

cmykGirl, Welcome to the discussion area!
Also, on the CD you will find the Users Guide (a PDF document). Follow the directions for configuring the router via a web browser. The screen shots are from Windows but it works exactly the same from the Mac.
BTW, this is the discussion area for the iMac G4. There is another dedicated discussion area for the iMac G5.

  • Linksys router not seen by Airport Setup Assistant

I recently started using a linksys router instead of and airport extreme, it's working, I am able to access the internet. But, my problem is I cannot see it in the Airport set up Assistant. I have not been able to setup my Airport Express because I can't see my wireless router.
    Any one have any ideas?

Bronco46, Welcome to the discussion area!
I recently started using a linksys router ... my problem is I cannot see it in the Airport set up Assistant.
The AirPort Setup Assistant and AirPort Admin Utility are ONLY for Apple's base stations and therefore won't give you access to the Linksys router.
You need to access the Linksys user's guide and follow the directions for using your browser to configure the Linksys router.
I have not been able to setup my Airport Express because I can't see my wireless router.
Configuring the AirPort Express (AX) has nothing to do with configuring the Linksys router. Configure the AX following the directions in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode.

  • External backup drive connected to airport router giving  "... backup disk image ... /.../... is already in use" error.

I just added an external backup drive to my airport router for my desktop and my laptop to use.  Initial backups worked, but now I'm getting "... backup disk image ... /.../...MacBook Pro.sparcsbundle is already in use."  This message is on laptop even after stopping timemachine on the desktop.  The initial backup worked for both machines.  Is this a timing problem?  It shows the last backup happened earlier this evening, but I'm concerned about the major amount of work I did after that time.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

You can't use that configuration for Time Machine backups, if that's what you're doing.

  • Unable to connect laptop using wireless Linksys router SES 36576

I have a Linksys wireless router (SES 36576) and a new HP laptop (Vista OS). Using my old laptop running XP, I was able to connect wirelessly. Linksys indicates that my signal is EXCELLENT; however, when I input the security key and it searches for the connection, it just flat-out will not connect. I don't know where to start because I've never had this problem before. Is my router compatible??
    Thanks for your help.

Hi, the number you have for your router does not match any model number for a Linksys router.  Wireless routers from linksys normally have their model numbers start with WBR
    My Cisco Network Magic Configuration:
Router: D-Link WBR-2310 A1 FW:1.04, connected to Comcast High Speed Internet
Desktop, iMac: NM is on the Windows Partition, using Boot camp to access Windows, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit RTM, Broadcom Wireless N Card, McAfee Personal Firewall 2009,
Mac Partition of the iMac is using Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard
Laptop: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG, McAfee Personal Firewall 2008
Please note that though I am a beta tester for Network Magic, I am not a employee of Linksys/Cisco and am volunteering my time here to help other NM users.

  • Has anyone enabled time machine using a linksys router and external hard drive? And if so how?

Has anyone enabled time machine using a link sys router and external hard drive? And if so how?  I have a Linksys E4200 wireless router with a usb port on it.  I also have a Western Digital Elements 1TB external hard drive.  I would like to be able to use this hard drive with time machine.  Has anyone done so and if so how can I do so?

You might get some responses, but we don't see many Linksys users on an Apple forum so it may be awhile before you see an answer.
It might be useful to point out that Apple does not even support Time Machine backups to the USB port on their own AirPort Extreme wireless router, so we may be heading down a very slippery slope here.
I've tried Time Machine backups on an AirPort Extreme router a number of times in the past. It's just not reliable. Works for awhile, then has corruption problems. Or has corruption issues immediately. I once went a month or so and thought I had it nailed, then got smacked with a corrupted set of backups again.
But, I guess you never know. It might work on the Linksys. If you decide to try this, I would suggest that you have another backup plan in place for your important data.
Hope that some Linksys users will respond so we can all learn.

  • I have a Cisco/Linksys WRT-54G wireless router and 2 Airport Extremes (the small ones that plug directly into the wall). Is it possible to extend the network from the router using these two AEs? I have a DVD player and Ext HD plugged into the router too..

I have a Cisco/Linksys WRT-54G wireless router and 2 Airport Extremes (the small ones that plug directly into the wall). Is it possible to extend the network from the router using these two AEs? I have a DVD player and Ext HD plugged into the router too. Any ideas? I'm guessing the only way is to do what I've seen in these community pages which states that it can be done but it will drop the bandwidth by 50%. Thoughts?? Thanks!

The Cisco/Linksys WRT-54G was one of the very few routers said to be compatible with Apple's implementation of WDS (Wireless Distribution System) settings.
The info that I have on file indicates that only the WRT-54G versions 4 and under were compatible, so that would be one bridge to cross.
Even if you find that your Cisco/Linksys might be the right version, Apple never published instructions on how to configure the Express devices with other manufactures, so users were left to their own devices to try to figure out how to get things working. Apple's instructions to connect to other Apple devices are in the link below:
    WDS network
If you were hoping to use 2 Express devices in this type of configuration...even if it works...the bandwidth penalties will be extremely severe.
The first Express drops the bandwidth (and speed) on the entire network in half and the second halves everything again. So, the result, in effect would be a "g" wireless network running at 25% speed. Few users would consider installing this type of network.
At this point, it becomes one of those things where the fact that you might be able to do something does not mean that there would be much value in doing so. But, it is your decision to decide if you want to try to proceed.

  • Best configuration for a LinkSys Router

I've had the best wifi signal using a new LinkSys E3000 router, but it's varied depending on the band/channel. Can anyone else with a LinkSys router recommend settings that work best with an iPad?
    Here's mine:
    LinkSys E3000
    5GHz
    N-only
    20MHz channels
    Static IP, using DHCP reservation
    36-48 channels
    SSID broadcast enabled

Let me know the distance between wrt54gs router and the access point...
If the distance is 60 to 70 feet you may try this...Though AP Client will only work with another WAP54G you may still try this...This set up will not work if you try to communicate the WRT54GX2 router with WAP54G, so you need to configure the WRT54GS router with WAP54G...
    1) Connect the WRT54GS router to the modem and configure the WRT54GS router for internet access...Once you are done configure your Access Point in Access Point Client Mode...For this you need to log in to your wrt54gs router and go to status tab, click on Wireless subtab under Status...Note down the MAC Address...
    2) Now access the set-up page of your Access Point, click on AP Mode and select AP Client and in the Remote Access Point's LAN MAC Address field type the Wireless MAC Address you took note in Step1 and click Save Settings...
    3) Match the Wireless Settings and IP Address settings on both the devices(WRT54GS and WAP54G)...
    4) Connect the WAP54G on the LAN/ETHERNET Port of the WRT54GX2 router and disable it's DHCP...Change the Wireless Settings on the WRT54GX2 router and connect your wireless clients to the router...See if this works...
