1. Can you create a restore point successfully?
   Create a restore point
2. Please attach a picture of the message.
3. Make that error occur and note the computer-clock time.
Open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc), expand Windows Logs, and inspect the Application and System logs for the corresponding event (at that exact time).
Don't try to copy anything from there. Double-click the event and then click the Copy button. That will put the details on your clipboard.
Paste it without editing into your reply - except we want only what's above the line Event Xml:.

    Thanks for any response advance!
I tested this lapton again as following:
    1. Boot from orininal recovery disc, erase and partition hard drive
    2. continue to boot from recovery disc, select option of recovery of factory default software
3  finish the process to create CRC, and screen show the recovery completed
    4. Screen shows " Apply final configuration (Don't interrupt)
5, Window Xp show to shut down, and restart laptop, the normal desktop screen is shown
    6. pop up window indicates "load personal setting"
laptop repeatly step 4 to 6 two to three times, then I had couple different results:
    a. laptop still power on, screen does not show any image, black, but it is different to the "black" without power.
    b. a small window indicates: This system is not fully install, please run setup again"
If I manually shut down this laptop, and make cold power up:
    a. stay at Window XP initial image, can not go to next
    b. laptop show blue screen for one second (looks to make disk check), go to option to select safe mode or normal mode
    c. go to Window guiding setup, I finished the Windows XP set up step by step, laptop freeze
The trouble begins at the step of "Apply final configuration".
Do I need to order the disc of Recovery and Application/Drivers, Satellite A100/A105 Series"?
    Any suggestion? thanks!

  • Satellite Pro L300D-20R shutting down in safe mode

    Hi folks,
I occasionally run full scans using Avira antivirus and Asquared free as well as Ccleaner in safe mode. However, when I boot in to safe mode the fan runs aggressively all the time and then my laptop shuts down. This occurred also when I was using the help facility so is not just confined to running the anti malware scans. I tried using "start up repair" but this did n't fix it. Then I used the Toshiba HDD recovery to restore it back to the factory settings but this did n't work either. In normal mode it scans virus and anti malware free and runs OK.
    Any advice appreciated.

    Hi
According to your message the notebook work great in normal mode but does not work properly in safe mode. Right?
Well, since only some essential and necessary services would be loaded in safe mode, I think the issues could be related to software/system problem.
I wonder why the HDD recovery didnt function hmm you should create a recovery disk using the preinstalled software called Toshiba Recovery disk creator.
Then you could use this disk in order to recover the notebook once again.
Then you can check the safe mode functionality is you need it.

    Hi
Maybe you have to install the compatible graphic card driver?
Choose the right graphic driver from the Toshiba European driver page and try to install it!

  • Satellite L505 - Does it come with Windows 7 64bit or 32bit disk?

I got a Satellite L505 computer with *preinstalled* Windows 7 64-bit version and a 32-bit product recovery disk. I have not created a backup of a 64-bit version and meantime reinstalled the system from the 32-bit recovery disk provided erasing my HD. I would however like to reinstall the 64-bit verision of Windows 7. I know that I can order a backup media from https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/ but it does not say wich version (64-bit or 32-bit) will be shipped to me.
If I check the model description on the Toshiba page it says that it is shipped with 64-bit version and includes 32-bit recovery disk. This descrition still leaves me with a question which backup media I would get from Toshiba. I have to be sure that I get the 64-bit WIndows 7 before I order one.
I would appreciate a confimation. Thanks!

    Hi buddy,
I think everything is ok and there is no open question. The description on the Toshiba website says everything: The notebook is shipped with 64bit Windows 7 version that means this version is preinstalled on your computer. Additional you get a 32bit version on a recovery disk and thats all!
So you didnt burn the 64bit recovery disk and that means you have to order a new one from Toshiba. I assume you will get both versions then 32bit and 64bit.

  • Satellite L505-10z - Win 7 tools are not compatible with Win 8

My laptop is Satellite L505-10z. I installed Windows 8 Pro and I notice that lots of drivers (especially TVAP) I downloaded from Toshiba support website (which are originally for Windows 7) not working! When will Toshiba release Windows 8 drivers? Will my model be included in the driver updates?
    Thanks

    > downloaded from Toshiba support website (which are originally for Windows 7) not working!
Win 7 tools and utilities are made for Win 7 and not Win 8
    > When will Toshiba release Windows 8 drivers? Will my model be included in the driver updates?
I think you should ask Toshiba. This is user to user community.
But I think Toshiba would start with driver support if Win 8 would be available OFFICIALLY on the market.

  • Satellite L505-10K - Unexpected error when using recovery disk creator

    Toshiba Satellite L505-10k
Can't make any recovery disc when I open toshiba recovery media creator, it says: an unexpected error occurred. Close the program and then restart it (error code: 0D00F6-49-00000015) and then I click ok and then it comes again and then I click ok and it comes again and I click ok and then the program comes and when I create the disc it comes to the verification, but then it says: Unable to read the following file. E: \ Boot \ fonts \ chs_boot.ttf (error code: 02015-20-00000000).
I really do need help, I'm afraid something will happen to my computer, so is there anyone who knows something about this kind of problem?
    Thankful for your help.

    Hi
I don't now if that works be cause when I got my computer I tried to create an recovery disc but it says yeah, you know, and I was looking in the folder if the file was there as it says that it could not read but the file isn't there so I don't think that it works to do an recovery from the HDD but I know that I can order an recovery disc from toshiba but I don't know if it works to do an recovery with it du you think so? but if I order an recovery disc do you think that I can get it for my language? • Chipset in Satellite L505-111

Hi everyone, I'm thinking of buying the notebook from the topic title, but cannot seam to find what chipset is used in it.
So if anyone can help me, I'd be grateful :)
Oh, and some info from anyone who has it would also be nice.

    Hi

  • Satellite L505-141 - Crash 3 times a day

    Hello,
I just bought 2 months ago my first new laptop Satellite L505-141 and use Windows 7 64bit. The laptop crushes (turn off Suddenly) 3 times a day and I dont know why! After it's happen I cant turn it on unlees I plug out and conent again the electric cable.
Please help me, I dont know what cuses the laptop to crush.

    chen.

    Hi
It is not easy to say why this happen and maybe best option will be to contact Toshiba service and let them check your notebook. They can force your notebook to run on maximum level to see on which point your notebook will crash.
As usual notebook user you can do some tests but I don't think it will help you much.
You can test it with AC power supply or with battery power supply to see if there is some difference.
You can test it with different browsers to see if the same will happen again and again.
What you can also try is to check this with different power plans.
At the end you can install OS again using HDD recovery installation and test it with factory settings and without some additional software.
I believe you should contact Toshiba service in your country, explain the situation and hear what they will say about that.

  • Satellite L505-13W - FN keys not shown and touchpad issue

    Hello everybody,
I have two questions and I will highly appreciate your help.
First, when I got the laptop it used to have a Fn bar that comes down from the top of the screen when I press Fn, it shows all the Fn keys, now it disappeared. I need to get it back, I almost tried everything and nothing is there yet.
Second, the touch pad is not zooming anymore when I apply the 2 fingers in and out, it used to do that before.
    My laptop is Satellite L505-13W
    Thank you in advance

    Hi abdouni,
    1. I think the problem is related to Toshiba Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. Both tools control the FN keys and the Flash Cards appear if you press FN key.
You can download it on official Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Regarding the installation: First of all remove both tools and restart the notebook. Now install Value Added Package and restart again. Install Flash Cards Support Utility and make one restart. Now the FN keys should work again.
    2. This could be related to Value Added Package too So check my posting.
If its not work, reinstall the touchpad driver.

  • VGA output jumps between External Monitor and Satellite L505

I have a Satellite L505-144 linked to an external VGA monitor via a 2 way Aten KVM switch.
Intermittently the external monitor screen will go black, the picture will transfer to the laptop monitor for a second before reverting back to the external monitor. This does not seem to be triggered by any particular keyboard or mouse action and does not seem to be time linked.
The keyboard and mouse connected to the KVM seem unaffected. I have the latest video, motherboard bios and all the latest Toshiba released drivers loaded.
To test the KVM I have connected up a Toshiba NB200 in place of the L505, the problem stops, replace the L505, it comes back.
The issue is not effected by having a second PC connected to KVM. I have tried with a second PC on and off, connected and unconnected, still no change to the problem.
I have switched the KVM cables around and the problem persists and follows the L505. If I connect the L505 directly to the monitor the problem goes away!
I can conclude its an issue between the KVM and the L505.
Is there a known fix or work around?
Is there any guarantee if I get say a Belkin KVM this issue with the L505 will not occur with that equipment as well?

At first I must say that I dont think Toshiba will offer fix for this. Toshiba doesnt support usage of third part products so if there is some possible fix or work around ATEN should know this.
Connect all external devices you use directly on your Satellite L505, test functionality and let us know f you have some similar or any other problem.

  • Satellite L505-S5990 Problems with CD/DVD drive.

I have a new Satellite L505-S5990 using Windows 7. I have tried to burn a backup disc using my laptop but I keep receiving an error saying that the burner is busy or that I should update the driver. I have already updated the DVD/CD driver to it's latest version. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

Go into device manager, uninstall the DVD drive, then reboot the system to have WIndows automatically re-install it.  This often times take care of the problem.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Satellite C855D - Computer thinks key Num 9 is pressed

Such a weird issue, I hope someone can help. So this started happening on a monday after leaving the laptop off since saturday; everything working perfectly - no issues at all. After turning on the machine and booting normally into windows, I noticed when opening the start menu, the number 9 started repeating in the search box as if the key was being held down; I thought obviously the physical key might be stuck; I pressed the 9 key and it felt normal, nothing obstructing it and it wasn't stuck (the same for the 9 on the number keypad), yet the number 9 kept repeating. I rebooted the computer and tried to enter into safe mode, but the keyboard was not responding, both the caps and num lock lights where on but hitting F8 key or any other key (enter, arrow keys etc.) did not work and could not select anything in the boot menu. It was then I noticed that the same thing was happening immediately after turning on the laptop, I could not enter into the bios setup so it went straight to the windows boot menu. I got the idea to try to boot without the laptop keyboard physically connected to the motherboard and rule out any hardware problems with the keyboard; so I powered off the machine, disconnected and removed the keyboard and powered it back and let it boot normally ... I could not believe it, it kept happening, even without any input device connected to the system, the key is still acting as if pressed ... I already tried updating the bios to latest version but didn't resolve the issue; this happens even with a dos boot disk, the number 9 repeats at the c:\ prompt without any keyboard connected, so it's not a windows problem; I think it must be a firmware or hardware controller issue. Please, any help is greatly appreciated!Has anyone else experienced this ‘phantom key press’ issue?---Satellite C855D-S5320Windows 7 (downgraded from W8)

Open the Character Map (charmap.exe) and locate the character. You should be able to copy it from there and paste it into your document.
A faster way is to depress the Alt key and press 40 on your numeric keypad. I'm going to do that now right here: (

  • Satellite L505 will not start! Please help me!

My Tobisha Satellite is having a problem booting up. I am using the Satellite L505.
Whenever I try to turn on my computer the boot logo comes up, but then after that a black screen comes up with a symbol up at the top left. It stays on that screen forever, please help me!!!!

Try what drev9 said.    And you can also try repeat tries to get it to boot (hold the power button in ntil it shuts off, then power it back on again.  I once got my L505D to successfully boot but it took 3-4 tries like that.)    Or you can try walking off and just leaving it stwe a while to see if Windows  resolves the issue.   If it prompts you that Windows didn't start right, you can either try start normally or do a restore back to last restore point or whatever that other option is.    If you get the macine running, definitely back up or copy off all of your important data and pictures, before you shut it off again.
Probably what you're going to need to do is a complete Toshiba Restore that reinstalls all software back to factory configuration, and that will erase everything on the hard disk.   It's remarkably easi to do, provided you have a fast and reliable Internet connection to get all the updates installed.
I have an L505D-s6947 and it was purchased in July 2009.     It recently started having problems with starting up Windows, could not complete burning a DVD, lost some files, corrupted my original Admin account, and occasionally  the hard disk was "not available" when file writes were supposed to happen.    Doing a full Restore cleans out all the junk, it fixed my problems, and the machine runs reliable and much faster now, plus has no difficulty burning DVDS.   These computers probably should get wiped and reinstalled once a year, to keep the performance up and Windows running smoothly.

  • What's new in the BIOS Update v2.00 for Satellite L505-144

What's new in the BIOS Update v2.00 for Satellite l505-144
    Thanks

    Hi mate
As far as I know Toshiba European driver page does not provide any details what has been changed in the BIOS.
But I found some details on Toshiba US page.
It seems that Fn+N+1/2/3/4 debug function has been removed in BIOS 2.0 to avoid keyboard abnormal behavior.
