Backup Sharepoint 2013 SP1 Farm with SQL 2014 RTM "Always On" using System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager
Is backing up and Restoring SharePoint 2013 SP1 Farm with SQL 2014 RTM "Always On" High Availability now supported using "System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager"?
I cannot find information anywhere.
Regards,
Igor
This is a DPM supportability issue, I believe. Last I heard, no it was not supported. SharePoint 2013 does not support SQL 2014 until the April 2014 CU. The CU should be out soon, although it appears to have been delayed (usually comes out on Patch Tuesday,
which was this past Tuesday).

Hi
I'm working on upgrading sharepoint 2010 to sharepoint 2013 with sql server 2008 r2. I've ran into some problems but have been able to get a test farm upgraded. However to run SSRS 2013 it seems Sql Server 2012 Reporting Services are required. Upgrading
to a full sql server 2012 database isn't an option. I know that sql server 2012 reporting services can use sql server 2008 r2 as a catalog and content database so I was wondering could this be a workaround? Importantly would I need a separate machine/virtual
machine to host sql server 2012 reporting services? or could it live on the sql server 2008 r2 machine? Any pointers appreciated. Thanks DanRemember that SSRS must be deployed on the SharePoint server. Having said that, yes you can install SSRS 2012 SP1 on a server running SQL 2008 R2. And yes, you can use 2008 R2 as your Database Engine server while SSRS 2012 SP1 runs on the SharePoint server.

Instructions to upgrade a SP 2013 SP1 farm with March 2015 CU
I have an existing farm that is configured with SP 2013 SP1 + Dec 2014 CU. I want to upgrade this farm with the latest March 2015 CU. Any specific instructions that I can follow ? My farm is consisting of 2 App servers, 2 Web front ends and
Search is configured as well. Any help is highly appreciated.
KrushiUse the script in this blog post to speed up binary installations of any SharePoint 2013 patch:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/russmax/archive/2013/04/01/why-sharepoint-2013-cumulative-update-takes-5-hours-to-install.aspx
You no longer need to use the Updates folder, just drop the exe (+cab file(s) if applicable) in the same folder as the PowerShell script in the above blog post. Run the PowerShell script and it will automatically install that patch. Only Service Packs
are language-specific. All other updates (CU, PU, hotfixes) have all languages.
Don't forget you need to run the Config Wizard after installing any bits.

Hello Community
When you setup a Sharepoint 2013 Server farm
if you want to provide failover clustering, can
the servers that the Sharepoint 2013 Server farm
failover to be located off-site in a different
location (i.e. how far away can the servers the
the primary server in the Sharepoint 2013 Server
farm be away from the failover cluster of backup
Sharepoint 2013 Server farm servers in distance?
Thank you

Upgrade SharePoint 2013 SP1 to CU Mar 2015 with Workflow Manager
Hi Guys,
I've tried upgrading SharePoint 2013 SP1 Farm to latest package of CU Mar 2015 today, I've been able to do so and ran PCW and everything seems ok at first glance.. except I have Workflow Manager 1.1. which was also configured on the same server and I was
using it to run my SP 2013 Workflows. Problem is now I can't trigger any of my Workflows.
Grateful if you could advise.
Thanks and Regards,
RhyanHi Rhyan,
After you install the updates and run configuration wizard, please check if rebooting server could help.
For troubleshooting the issue, we can check ULS log (may need verbose level) for more detailed information generated when we perform workflow trigger and issue occurs.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee748656.aspx
http://summit7systems.com/sharepoint-2013-troubleshooting-guide/
And also check Event Viewer to see if there are some related errors.
Thanks

SQL 2014 RTM and Sql 2008r2 standard side by side installation ..
We are planning on reconfiguring our database server and then installing SQL 2008 R2 Standard edition in a side by side installation with SQL 2014 RTM. I have researched a little, and have not seen any major issues when planning this type of configuration.
Are there any issues that may occur with this?
2008 R2 will be in the default instance, and 2014 will be using a named instance. We do foresee uninstalling 2008 R2 after a period of time, and moving all of our databases to 2014 after testing has been performed. Once we uninstall 2008 R2, will we be able
to install a default instance of 2014? Are there any special steps that need to be taken to do that?Hello,
If possible install the SQL Server 2008 R2 instance first, then install SQL Server 2014. Through the years, the formula
of installing the older versions of SQL Server first has proved to be a winner for me.
Hope this helps.

Sharepoint Foundation 2010 compatibility with SQL Server 2014
Due to a requirement to use Sharepoint without Active Directory access. I am trying to find explicit confirmation whether Sharepoint Foundation 2010 is compatible with SQL Server 2014. I have seen that Sharepoint Server 2010 and 2013 are compatible
with SQL Server 2014 as of CU 1 (released in April). But there is no mention of Sharepoint Foundation.
This chart is great except it doesn't mention whether the Foundation versions are supported.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492257.aspx
Thanks.Note that that is for the Reporting Services component, but not necessarily for the SQL Database Engine component (which comes from the SharePoint Product Group, rather than the SQL Product Group). I haven't seen any confirmation that SharePoint 2010 is
supported at all with SQL 2014 as a Database Engine.

Hello Community
A Sharepoint 2013 Server farm created on a physical server
stores it's documents in SQL Server according to how SQL Server is setup.
If a Sharepoint 2013 Server farm is using Hyper-V and Virtual machines
how is BLOB data stored ?
Thank you
ShabeautAre you looking to use Remote Blob Storage? or RBS of SQL with SP?
It is going to be same way as it is configured for physical server.
Thanks, Ashish | Please mark a post helpful/answer if it is helpful or answer your query. -
Sharepoint 2013 SP1 incoming email in load balanced farm not working on both servers
I have 2 SharePoint 2013 WFE servers with a VIP load balancer.
I have configured the basic scenario incoming email on both servers as per this article
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/cc262947(v=office.15).aspx.
The email makes it to both WFEs in the SMTP drop folder but SharePoint picks it up always from one smtp server.
What could go wrong? is there any additional configuration needed so that sharepoint check both servers?MX records can be pointing to the IPs of your Incoming Email SharePoint servers. They should have the same weight if you want them to load balance, or different weights if you want them to be failover.

Error creating new Site in Sharepoint 2013 SP1
Hello, I am having an issue creating a new Site. The Environment is SharePoint 2013 SP1 Running on Server 2012 R2 DataCenter. This is a fresh install currently running on 2 Servers (App/Web, SQL Server). I successfully install SharePoint and then the Service
pack, then run configuration to setup the Farm. I successfully am able to setup a Web Application and Create a site collection. When I attempt to navigate to that site collection site on port 80 I get the "Sorry, Something went wrong"

I am sure above tells me exactly what is wrong, but I can't decipher it, so I can forward the info to the correct team to fix (we are a very departmentalized organization). I have already completely deleted both servers in the farm and recreated from scratch
and I get the same error, even tried a 3rd time to remove SP and download the latest patches again.
Can anyone help?
Kevindid you
configure the object cache on the web app?
also do you have user profile services configured, if yes then web App's app pool should have permission on UPA.

The server is not in production, so I don't know if this error would cause any problems or not.
How to resolve this?

File opening throws RBS exception after migrating to a new farm with sql 2012
We have successfully migrated the SP 2010 -sql 2008 r2 wss_content to a new sp2010 farm with sql 2012. The old and new farms are configured for RBS - FIlestream.
In the new farm when tried opening a document we see the below exceptions in event viewer. The documents open fine for admin users and fail for others. I have verified all the permissions on the blob store file location and it looks good. Users have no
issue uploading new files over and below the set the file size limit.
Any suggestions on how to debug this would be great, do we need to rerun the .migrate() to realign any of the blob file references, we played around setting the max file size couple of times.

-Mash "http://sharepointxperiments.wordpress.com"Migration - its a content db backup/restore/mount to new farm with sql 2012 from sql 2008 r2
Okie here are the results after we tried to narrow down the issue to few steps-
This issue happens on documents that are already existed in the content db prior to migration. we picked two docs from one library. DOC A and DOC B of close to same size..
DOC A - file size 64k, rbs max size set to 1mb.
Regular User and SPAdmin both can open fine, check out n check in successfully.
no entries made in event vwr of front end and DB server
DOC B - file size 64k, rbs max size set to 1mb
SPAdmin - can check out n open fine, but cannot check in back - file not available error
Regular User - cannot open the file - file not avialable at the url
Both users can view doc properties at lib level..
Errors found in event vwr of DB server -
"FILESTREAM file named with GUID '00311100-0000-51eb-f3a8-0b387bc5c5ce' that belongs to
FILESTREAM data file ID 0x10001 does not exist or cannot be opened."
and
"The operating system returned the error '2(The system cannot find the file specified.)' while attempting 'FsDoHandler::CreateFile' on 'H:\Blob_Store\a06953ae-6f49-43b1-9c2d-fefb13bda9fe\1c581a4a-b450-4143-bc3d-8d419b49b0fb\0000eb20-000066ff-0002'
at 'fstrman.cpp'(2075)."
I incline to believe that the references for documents in blob store could have been corrupted for some documents during the migration. Any new docs uploaded to content or to blob are all accessible fine.
I'm not sure running .migrate() will re align the blob file references? Any ideas on how to effectively get this resolved..

Excited as I was to finally get the slip-streamed version of SP 2013 with SP1 so I could install it on Windows 2012 R2 I'm having trouble installing the pre-requisites.
I've found this article here -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2765260/en-gb - but the resolution won't work. The update (KB2771431) won't install on 2012 R2 and the manual fix fails even though I am connected to the internet.
Has anyone successfully installed SP 2013 SP1 on 2012 R2 ?
