Backup status reported incorrectly

Using Windows SBS 2008, following recreating a partition (D:) which had reverted to RAW from NTFS, I needed to restore the last good backup, which appeared from the SBS Console/Server Backup Properties/Previous Backups to have successfully backed up drives
C: and D:.  When moving to restore, I find that this backup was completed with warnings.  Expanding this line, it reports an error: "D: Incorrect function".  When I look back through the history of the connected backup drive,
I find that it has only backed up the C: drive even though the backup configuration has always been set to back up both C: and D:.  As D: drive is the drive which holds all of the data, everything appears to be lost!  Is there any way to recover
any of this data?

We can do it through option called ' Managed server' in sql server by connecting required server.
But, I want to know the script and any other option in sql server to connect all sql instance in different domain group to take backup status report in single run.
I need your help here and share the experience if you implemented ever in your environment.

    see
    http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/1601/script-to-retrieve-sql-server-database-backup-history-and-no-backups/
You can use above scripts to capture the information
For automated execution wrap it in a procedure with INSERT statement to dump the results onto a table and call the procedure from sql agent job to execute  it based on a predefined schedule.

We currently use Learn.com as our LMS solution. When we publish our Captivate projects to the LMS, users course completion status is marked as
'Completed' after they have opened the course and viewed the first slide.  I've set our reporting settings from the Preferences>Quiz>Reporting to Complete/Incomplete and Slide Views only to 100%.  I don't understand why it's reporting completed when users have only viewed one slide.

  • Status report time machine backup by e-mail

    Hello,
i'm using Leopard server (workgroup mode) and want to know if there is a way to get a time machine backup status report by e-mail
It's important for us to know every day if time machine was able to backup ok or if there are problems.
    thanks for suggestions
    Marco

Although you can restore messages from a Time Machine snapshot within the Mail application, it generally won't work with messages that were saved by an older version of Mail. In that case, you have to use an alternative method.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Inside that folder are subfolders representing your Mail accounts. The names refer to the email addresses you use. Decide which ones you want to restore messages from.
Enter Time Machine and scroll back to the snapshot you want. Select the account folders you want and then select  Restore ... to... from the action menu (gear icon) in the toolbar of the snapshot window. Restore the folders to the Desktop, not to their original location.
From the Mail menu bar, select
    File ▹ Import Mailboxes...
Import from the mailboxes in the folders you restored to the Desktop. The imported messages will appear in a new mailbox. Move the ones you want to keep wherever you like and delete the rest. Then delete the folders on the Desktop.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Methods to report backup status of CUCM

Is there any methods out there that allows the reporting of CUCM backup status via DRS.  I want to report on backup status (eg the backup history page in DRS).  I can't see any way of getting this info out apart from scraping the DRS Web page.  Checked the data dictionary for any tables that might contain job history but nothing is too obvious atm.
I realise you can get the system to email out job failures/issues but there seems to be no way to email status whether it be success or failure.
    Cheers
    Nathan

    Hello Agathe,
Would you mind telling me how you are getting the SNMP trap notifications for DRS? I'm in the same situation would like to know if there is a MIB/OID which can be checked. I know you can send the syslog message under alarm->drs and send to a remote syslog server. But would much rather be able to via SNMP to alert on failures.

  • Incorrect date in Printer Status Report

I just changed a print cartridge today for an Officejet 6500 wireless.  The printer system date is today 8-19-11.  The Printer Status Report ink install date [#53 on the report] shows 8-13-11.  Why?  Thanks, Apuleius

I beleive the printer only stores the date to the nearest week.

  • Claim status report - PC00_M40_REMS

    Hi experts
Claims status report PC00_m40_rems is showing incorrect balance.  That is,  for example, eligibility is Rs. 50000
Step1: Claim for the month for April is Rs.5000. Claim processed through PC00_M40_REMP. The claim status was successfull.
After the above step, REMS report shows  Eligibility Rs.50, 000/- Claim payment - 0, claim due - Rs.5000/-, balance Rs.45000/- and no.of claim 1
Step2: Claim was processed through offcycle payroll - PC00_m40_calc. After this process, the REMS report shows - Eligibility Rs.50000/-, claim payment - Rs.5000, claim due - Rs.5000/-, balance Rs.40,000/- and no. of claim 2
Step3:  Then regular payroll was run. After the regular payroll, REMS is showing correct details i.e. Eligibility Rs.50,000/- Claim payment Rs.5000/-, Claim due - 0, balance Rs.45,000/- and no. of claim 1
I suppose, the balance should show correct balance of Rs.45,000/- after the second step mentioned above.
I have maintained bank details - Main bank and Main bank for offcycle.
    Kindly guide me.
    with regards

  • Printer Status Report

Printer: HP Photosmart 5515 on the label (but HP Photosmart 5510d B111h on the Printer Status Report).
    Operating system: Win 7
Why does item 25 in my Printer Status Report show incorrect "Ink Install" dates? Depending on the colour, the date of installation of each ink cartridge is given as four or five days earlier than the actual date of replacement.  I would have thought that the date would be exactly as per my desktop computer to which the printer is connected via a USB cable.
The printer is less than one year old and has given the incorrect dates from the moment the original set-up cartridges were replaced.

    HI LincsP,
You are correct that the dates should in fact change and show the exact dates. This will not affect your ability to print or print quality at all. It may have something to do with you needing a product update. You can click here to find out how to check for a product update on your printer.
When it's time to change a cartridge next time print the Status report before you replace it and then again right after you replace it. If the same thing happens please scan the sheets and attach them to this thread for me to look at.
    Let us know what happens.

Was there any subsequent document for Delivery Doc.?

  • Update status is incorrect

When I run update status reports, some computers show "not needed" for an update that is clearly needed. For instance, if I run a compliance report and look for the status of KB2775511, I get a lot of computers showing "Update is not required"
    - however, these computers don't have KB2775511 installed, and clearly need it.
In fact, each client believes it needs the update because it's listed as "Missing" when I check the CCM_UpdateStatus WMI class at "root/ccm/SoftwareUpdates/UpdatesStore". Furthermore, if I deploy the update via SCCM to one of these computers,
the computer recognizes it needs the update and installs it. So it seems that the report (or wherever the reports gets its information) is what's at fault here.
The other odd thing I notice about the report is that the computers with incorrect statuses have very recent dates for "Last State Received", and no date for "Last State Change". This is different from computers that are correctly
reporting their status, which have values for both, typically with older dates.
Any idea why my reports are incorrect?
    Eric Hodges

    Hi,
Have you checked the following log files:
    StateMessage.log(Client)
It records details about software updates state messages that are created and sent to the management point.
    MP_Relay.log(Site system server)
It records the transfer of files that are collected from the client.

  • ACS 5.4 backup status in syslog

Have raised a TAC for this but thought I'd post here too.
We are running ACS v5.4 Patch 1.
We have noticed that ACS will not produce syslog messages about scheduled backups (success or failure)
    (1)    From the GUI, under “System Administration >  Configuration >  Log Configuration >  Remote Log Targets”, we have configured a remote syslog host.
    (2)    Then, each logging category under “System Administration > Configuration >  Log Configuration >  Logging Categories >  Global”, we have configured everything to log to the remote target.
    (3)    However, no messages regarding successful or failed backups ever arrive via syslog.
Backup status can be checked by running “show backup history” from the CLI.
However, syslog communication between ACSView and ACS show backup status OK.
You can find backup information in ACS View under:
Monitoring & Reports >  Reports >  Catalog >  ACS Instance > ACS Operations Audit
We have one quite simple requirement – that ACS produces syslog messages stating backup success and failure.  This will drive our alarm system.
Has anyone else got this to work?
Pretty simple request - backup success/failure in syslog messages!
Forcing the output of ade.log to syslog would also do it.  Would rather not hack around under the covers with root patch though.
    Cheers!

    Hi Rob,
I was going through your requirement and that seems to be an important notification. If we look at the ACS 5.4 guide > under logging categories. It does talk about ACS operational changes—Logs all operations  requested by administrators, including promoting an ACS from your  deployment as the primary, requesting a full replication, performing  software downloads, doing a backup or restore, generating and restoring  PACs, and so on.
Administrative and operational audit log messages are always sent to the  local store, and you can also send them to remote syslog server and  Monitoring and Reports server targets.
Log messages are sent to the local store with this syslog message format:
    time stamp sequence_num msg_code msg_sev msg_class msg_text attr=value
    Log target and logging categories.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5.4/user/guide/logging.html#wp1052656
Since you've configured ACS logging categories to log everything. It should work fine. Can you see the same message success or failure under local store logs of ACS. If we can see it there it means ACS is sending it, after that we can check in the log forwarder file and run the packet capture on the syslog server.

  • Feature requests: Quotas & status reports

I just sent the following feedback to Apple:
"Beside the highly missed backup to AirDisks I would appreciate two additional features in TimeMachine: (1.) I'd like to set a quota for the backup set as I don't want it to fill up the device completely (2.) It would be great to have a daily status report (e. g. by mail) about the performed backups, their size, the oldest backup and available diskspace. I've got three Macs in my family using TM and I'd like to control the backup without logging into every machine."
    Anyone to second this?

    Ricktoronto wrote:
If you have a say 500GB drive and you want to limit say 300 GB to TM, you make a 300GB partition on that drive and tell TM that partition is its drive.
Thanks for this advice, I was aware of this possibility, but with three Macs backing up to the same USB device, I do not want to hold a partition for every client. Another tweak is to limit the size of the sparse images with "hdiutil", but why not implement this option in the product itself ... ?

  • Determinig backup status

    Hi all,
Just a question with regards to RMAN. We call RMAN via a standard shell script, however, looking for advice on how to best determine if the backup was succesful or not.
Is it enough to just check the exit status of RMAN, e.g. (simplified)
    rman target / @level0.rman
    if [ $? = 0 ]; then
    echo "Backup Succesful"
    else
    echo "Backup Failed"
    fi
or is it advisable to, after the backup, check v$rman_status or similar to get a thorough picture of the backup status.
Our RMAN script is similar to follows (note, not in a run statement)
BACKUP INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 DATABASE FILESPERSET 4
    PLUS ARCHIVELOG DELETE INPUT;
    sql 'ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE';
    sql "CREATE PFILE=''/somedir/spfile.backup'' FROM SPFILE";
    sql "ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE AS ''/somedir/controlfile.backup'' reuse";
As it's not in a run, my concern is that, the BACKUP INCR. may fail, but if the following commands succeed, will RMAN return a 'good' exit code or 'error' exit code
    Thanks for your help.

I have the same "simplified" exit code checking method setup as the original poster, but there are many errors that do not affect the overall status but are still reported as failure. For example, if one of the allocated channels fails during the backup, other channels pick up its workload and finish the backup, so the backup is valid, but my script reports failure anyway. Does anyone a good way to bypass those errors and report such backup run as success rather than failure?
