Backup / sync icon remains red

Even when i login to PS.com when i launch Organizer, the backup/sync icon remains red.
When i click on icon for backup/preferences setting, it tells me to login again.

Are you saying that you always get Sign-in Dialog whenever try to Sync.
Follow below mentioned steps and share about the results.
1. Stop SyncEngine running in your System-Tray.
2. Relaunch PSE-Welcome and Organizer
3. Log-in through PSE-Organizer
4. Start Sync through Sync-Preferences
Launch Sync-Status dialog and see if Sync is working... <<I assume that you are PSE8 user>>
Please get back what all happens during this?

The sync icon is constantly on-screen and my battery is draining really quickly. I can stop it by re-starting the iPhone, but is this a known problem? The sync and iCloud seem to be working properly, but I can see the battery drop by about 1% every minute.
Sync is taking place over wireless, but even if I sync using the cable, the icon remains on-screen even when iTunes tells me that the sync is complete.

Did that as well, still the problem remains.
I don't know if I should really bother but I just find it weird and I think it has a slight impact on the battery time.

Can I get rid of the MobileMe sync icon in Mountain Lion?

I recently set up a new MacBook Pro by using setup assistant to restore from a Time Machine backup of an old Snow Leopard machine. In general it's worked fine, but I still seem to have the old MobileMe sync icon in the menu bar, and as far as I can work out it's now totally functionless. MobileMe no longer exists, and there's no longer any MobileMe preferences screen to turn it off. Clicking on it just shows a message saying 'no devices syncing'. Does it serve any useful purpose in Mountain Lion, and if not, how can I get rid of it?

My backup/sync function doesn't run

I am running PSE 8 on a Windows 7 computer. I ran out of room online so I purchased more. I have 4 gig of photos awaiting backup. I try to run backup/sync. The icon appears in the task bar for a few seconds then disappears. Nothing gets backed up or synced with my online catalogue. Any ideas what's going on? It worked fine until I ran out of room. It sees the new available space.

I would suggest you to launch Sync Preferences, mark it on and then see what happens.

Ideally a log file should be there at mentioned path if Sync has ever worked on your machine. After doing above things, send log file which will give an idea about progress on your machine.

PSE7 Backup/Sync Fails

Backup/synch is no longer working on my PSE7 catalog. I have been using it for over a year, this just started this month. I have a few new photos to upload, and a bunch that just need to synch again due to a minor change (I renamed the Windows folder they are stored in).
When I launch PSE7, backup/sync starts. After about 20 minutes it dies. The icon in Element (the two arrows) turns black. No pictures synchronize or upload during that time. The icon in the Windows sys tray goes away.
When backup/sync starts, I can see in Task Manager that PhotoshopElementsSyncAgent.exe
PhotoshopElementsFileAgent.exe are running. Once it dies after about 20 minutes, the PhotoshopElementsSyncAgent.exe stops running.
I have purchased 40GB of storage on photoshop.com, and I have used 32GB.
I have Repaired, indexed, optimized my catalog.
I uninstalled Photoshop Elements, and Reinstalled
From photshop.com I can use Photoshop Express to Upload a photo into my library
I created a new catalog and uploaded a couple of photos with no problems, so it must be a problem with my catalog or synch db?
I'm not getting any messages about warnings or conflicts.
I am running PSE 7 on Windows Vista SP2. I have downloaded and installed patch 703. Now when I select "check for Updates" I get a message that there are updates available. However when the process starts, it stops and then says "there are no updates available."

Sign out of your account. Stop sync and follow the steps mentioned at the following tech note http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408660.html . Sign in and start sync again. See if it helps .
Also send us your Sync db : Navigate to your catalog location (catalog location can be viewed under Help>System Info)Zip the syncdb folder there and send to [email protected]

Backup/sync

After installing a new larger hard drive on my Mac, I got an icon in my toolbar dealing with backup/sync. Checked is the line, "Backup/sync only when idle." (I don't know if I want to change this or not - do I?) I'm instructed to sign into photoshop.com through Photoshop Elements, but when I try to do that I get Error 400. I just learned that photoshop.com no longer exists - true? If this is nothing to worry about, how do I remove that icon from the toolbar? It has a lock symbol on it.

Yes, there is no more photoshop.com. Any photos you had there would have moved to adobe revel and you should have received several messages about this. Revel doesn't work the same way as photoshop.com did and you can't sync a catalog to it. On a mac you would want to go to the app store and download the revel application (free) to use with revel.
To remove the icon, go to organizer preferences>backup/sync and turn everything off. Then go to system preferences>users and groups>and look in the log-in items for your account and delete it there, if necessary.

Icon turned red after update to 12.0.1.26

My iTunes icon on my desktop turned red after I updated to 12.0.1.26. Does that mean something is wrong with my iTunes? It has never been red before.

As given, the red icon is by design.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Time Capsule icon remains on desktop

Hi,
On my iMac, the TC capsule is only visible during backups (or after I entered the Time Machine). It disappears automatically as soon as the backup is made, and only appears again when the next backup is to be made.
On my wife's MacBook, on the other hand, the TC icon remains on the desktop after the first backup of that day. Several times an hour, the MacBook seems to want to check if the TC volume is still present (which my iMac doesn't do).
Is there a way to make Time Capsule / Time Machine clear that I only need to see the TC icon when backups are made? And that there's no need to poll the TC volume every 10 or 15 minutes or so?
BTW: we are talking about 1 and the same Time capsule used by both the iMac and the MacBook.
Any help would be highly welcomed.

I believe the TCs icon is there because you have manually mounted it once before. When the dialogue box opened asking for a password you clicked "Remember password in my keychain".
Try the suggestion in the second paragraph below...
*Authentication Issues* (For Time Capsule / AirDisk Users) #
Open your Keychain and select "login" from the Keychains pane in the top left. Highlight "Passwords" in the Category pane from the lower left. Sort all the items by Kind. Note everything labeled "Airport...". How many do you have listed? There should only be one "Airport base station password" for each base station that you have active. Also, there should only be one "Airport network password" for each network you have created. If there are more than these, then delete all but the ones with the most recent Modification date.
Also you may see an item with the name of your Time Capsule. It will have a little blue "@" icon and the KIND will be "Network Password". This Keychain item is only created if you have physically connected to your Time Capsule via the "Connect As..." function in the Finder window. Delete this entry. It will be recreated next time you manually mount your Time Capsule.
Now, go to the Desktop and Ctrl-Click the Time Capsule icon. A contextual menu will appear. Select "Eject". The TC icon will disappear. If you MUST mount the drive again in the future, do not select "Remember password in my keychain" and remember to manually Eject it when you are done.

I have a few games with quite a few hours invested, and I worry that I'll lose the progress I have as they do not save to the cloud. I may have to bite the bullet, and just take the plunge to resolve this. I just want a way to easily transfer my "Home Computer" for my iPhone. My laptop is years old and in need of being replaced, and it's about time to upgrade my phone. These life events piling up are making me consider switching to a friendlier OS. I'm not using this as a threat. I just hope some apple high up will read this, and realize that we need alternatives. Life happens.
Thank you both Paul and Lawrence. I clicked "This helped me" not knowing it would remove the option to choose "This fixed my problem" too. For anyone else reading this thread. Using the guide provided has done both. It has helped me and given me a fix to my current problem. Lawrence has also provided me with the last bit of information I feel is missing from wjosten's guide. That syncing will completely erase all of your data and reinstall it in one fell swoop. It's a great fix. Even if it isn't the exact one I wanted. Thank you again!

IWeb09 pages remain red after publishing

I recently updated to iWeb09 when I bought a new iMac. I moved my old iWeb08 files across from my old MacBook. While I was messing around with iWeb09, I changed the name of my site from the default Site to Southpaws. Ever since then, I cannot publish all of the pages on my site. Even after publishing the entire site - and receiving the confirmation message that the site has been published - many of the pages on the left remain red and are not published when I check on the internet. Does anyone have any solutions? Thanks very much.

If you search this forum for "red" or "red icon you'll find that this subject has been discussed at great length. Right not there is no tired and true fix. Some have found fixes for their situation but it didn't help others. Be sure to report this to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html.

@NeedSomeAdvice, on the HTC Incredible, Backup Assistant is a sync app.
Go to menu->settings->accounts and sync. You should see backup assistant here. If not, simply click on "Add Account" in the bottom right and add Backup Assistant to the list of synced accounts. Follow the instructions on screen to configure it.

Backup/sync iphotos

I am using silverkeeper to keep backups on my external. I know that when I load photos from my camera they go into my "photos" folder and then I can drop them into iphoto. However, if I want to backup/sync my external with my internal, I can't figure out where iphoto stores the photos. I can sync the photos folder, but that is just all of the photos, and not the ones I placed in iphoto.

Hi Jim,
If you chose to have iPhoto copy the photos into it's own database when importing, the photos will be in the iPhoto Library folder in your Pictures folder.
You should backup the entire iPhoto Library folder in this case.

As you can see the structure is now related to rolls. Rolls are created for each folder you import and each import session from a camera.
It is very easy to change the names of film rolls within iPhoto to make them easier to find images within. Open the info panel in iPhoto by clicking on the "i" icon. Once it is opened, click on the roll title in the viewing window.
Click on the word "title" in the info pane and type in your new title. I like to use a date and text format such as 12/25/05 Christmas at Mom's, 1/05/06 my birthday, etc. Once the roll names are changed within iPhoto, they are also changed within the Finder, making it easy to locate an image.
When importing from a camera, make sure you name the roll with a date and text before the import.

This happened to me too but it was really all there. Go to your calendar, click on calendar in the upper left hand corner, click on show all calendars, click done in the right upper corner. Everything should show up!!!
