Backup template empty
I used the Backup applications 'Personal data & settings' template for backups in Tiger. After upgrading to Leopard I try to set up Backup using that template but it is an empty template (nothing to backup). Where has the templates Backup Items gone?

having spaces in the media-name is usually no problem, that should work.
Anyhow I would recommend to avoid this as spaces are not distinguishable frorm any other "whitespace" to the human reader.
Concerning naming conventions there are only the limitations to specify external backup tools (only before 7.7). By putting a "BACK", "NSR" or "TSM" as the first letters of your backup template name you could specify which external backuptool to be used.
Starting with MaxDB 7.7 there is a seperate attribute for this.

I am using MAXDB and new to database.

Is there any restrictions on the name being used for the media name ? ie., is it correct to use the media name with the whitespaces as

I'm recovering from a crashed hard drive. All of my image files are restored and in place, now I've reinstalled Lightroom 3. The problem is that when I go to my catalog backup folders, they are all empty. There are dozens of folders that look like backups from different dates, but each and every one of them is empty. How is that possible and is there any way that there could be a backed up catalog anywhere else? Thanks for any help!

Recovery Manager provides backup with empty folders
My girlfriend's Compaq Presario was recently infected with some sort of virus which made accessing anything impossible, even in safe mode. System Restore was also a bust. Instead of seeking advice from anyone who knew more than me, I decided to perform a recovery with back up. When prompted to back up the files to a partition, no drives were listed except the DVD drive. So I plugged in my external and the back up process seemed to work just fine. I then unplugged it when it was finished and it began to install Windows. The fresh install worked just fine, so I plugged in my external and began to transfer the backup files. The recovery manager unpacked all the data with no issues save one: Every folder is empty! I have a feeling the data is there, since if it were empty folders to begin with, it wouldn't have taken so long to unpack. I have since attempted to access them using Power ISO with limited success. Please someone help!

Sorry. I can't help you with that. The set that I have is for my dv7-4180es loaner laptop. Each set is specifically tailored to a particular laptop/mini/elitebook or desktop PC. My set won't work in your notebook.
You will have to use the recovery disk set you created or purchase a set from HP. You can also purchase a set from HP Partners.

First - I live in a tiny fishing village in Belize, so getting support here is virtually non-existent. There is no one else in my village who even uses a Mac. Recently, my hard drive in my 2012 Macbook Pro 13" went bad (said it suffered a "shock"?) and I was traveling to Cozumel, Mexico, so had it replaced there. We used an external hard drive backup to restore the data to it's last time machine backup (October of 2014). Everything was working fine, until I returned home, added some pictures, and wanted to do a fresh backup. Now, time machine will start the backup, but gets about 113,000 of 181,000 done, and it locks up. I can do nothing - everything freezes, and I have to eventually power down the computer. I even tried deleting the old backup from the external hard drive, erasing it completely, and reformatting the external hard drive using disk utility. Still locking up. It is a 5 GB external hard drive, so space shouldn't be an issue, and it was backed up to the same external hard drive previously with no issues. I'm still running Mavericks, and don't want to try to upgrade to Yosemite until I can be sure I have a backup of my old data and pictures. I am a writer, and use that to make my meager living LOL
I'm stumped. I've looked through the files endlessly but can't find anything similar to my issue. Any suggestions? I know just enough to be dangerous, and don't want to lose everything we worked so hard to retrieve when my hard drive crashed last month.
Thanks!SMH5206 - I tried letting it sit and crank overnight twice. First time I thought it was my error causing it to lock up. Now I know better. I haven't changed any of my time machine settings - and actually never used time machine regularly. Only reason I had a fresh backup from last Oct was because I did one before I upgraded to mavericks. Everything worked fine then - and we used that to restore when the hard drive crashed and was replaced. I have actually deleted hundreds of pictures off my hard drive and one entire user, so it should actually be a much smaller backup - so if it did it before on the same external hard disk, I don't understand why it won't now. I'm really confused.
Kahjot - the external hard drive is the same one I backed up to previously - and I have completely erased it and reformatted, and the information I'm backing up now is less, so there should be no reason why it doesn't have enough room now, when there is actually less information on my current hard drive (see my reply to SMH5206). When I plug it in, it says it is a 500.07 GB WD "My Passport"
I've even tried to have time machine only backup certain files, and not the whole thing. Still locking up.

Bookmark file missing, backup files empty, can't import IE favorites
I noticed that my bookmarks had disappeared. I checked my profile and the bookmarks file is missing. The remaining profile information and files appear to be intact, including history. There are a number of bookmarkbackup (JSON) files but they contain no data. I have tried to import IE11 favorites directly, and via the export to HTML/import to FF method, but nothing happens. I think I have exhausted all suggested remedies except deleting and rebuilding the places.sqlite file. I found a log file under the profile Allusers that indicated there was a maintenanceservice-install on Nov. 26, which may have been when my bookmarks disappeared.
I'm running Windows 7 and FF 25.0.1.
Suggestions? Thanks in advance!I do have three previous versions of places.sqlite. Curiously, they were all 10MB and were created Nov. 26 at the exact same time. The files were modified Nov. 27, at 3:08 pm, 10:31 pm and 10:39 pm, the last two while I was at home in bed. I can't figure out why my PC would be making restore points so late in the evening, unless it is related to my automated backups which are scheduled to begin at 9 pm. Is there a Windows log file that may be able to tell me what happened Nov. 26/27?
Speaking of backups, the bookmark file is also missing from my external hard "backup" drive. I don't understand this because my backup profile is set so as to leave files on the external drive even if they have been deleted from the PC hard drive.
Are there any downsides to restoring one of the places.sqlite files? -
Individual Product - Small (Backup) template issues?

I'm using business catalyst and am trying to create a slider for my webpage that pulls in products by tag using {module_productfeaturelist} tag.
This is the example of my code:

From the above, the way the slider works is that it seems to target a div id (in my case its called "myslider"), and not a Ul, and it would seem that the script that targets the UL class thats part of the targeted div id and in the default code the UL class is called "touchcarousel-container" and its li class is "touchcarousel-item"
Therefore to get this working in BC in my mind, i would have to modify my jquery slider code and find occurrances of "touchcarousel-container" and "touchcarousel-item" (this is contained in the jquery slider code: http://carvela.businesscatalyst.com/js/touchcarousel/jquery.touchcarousel-1.1.js ) and replace it with BC's "productfeaturelist" and "productItem".
To me this is a limitation because, if I have other slider instances I would be forced used the BC class names in my code.
Unless theres somthing i am not seeing?

How can I retrieve photos when it says my cloud and iTunes backups are empty or not backed up?
When I tried to update my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.1, I was forced to choose to restore or back up. Back up wasn't working so I had no choice but to restore. I lost pictures over the last two years. When I tried my cloud, there was nothing. I would get notifications that my cloud was full, but I thought there would at least be some photos in there. When I tried to restore a back up, it said the last time was two years ago. I thought when you're on wifi, it automatically backs up. I've charged my iPhone into my Macbook a bunch of times, so something should have backed up. Is there any hope for my photos?Sorry no backup - no pictures.
Yes phone will automatically backup to icloud when on wifi and phone is charge, but your phone storage was full so it stop backing up.

Time Machine backup on Lacie-CloudBox
I am doing backup via Time machine on a Lacie-CloudBox (network drive). The backup folder is empty but there is instead a .sparsebundle file (ca 900GB). Time Machine reports that backups are being done normally. Why is backup folder empty? Thx
Hi, I'm having the same problem. I have recently bought a Cloudbox 2TB. When TimeMachine has done the initial backup, it says that the backup was done succesfully, but when I take a look on the Cloudbox all I can find is a .sparsebundle file and TimeMachine prompting that the sparsebundle is already in use...
I'm guessing that there must be a compability problem since OSX Mavericks because the packaging of the Cloudbox states that it's TimeMachine compatible.
My Cloudbox came with no software, however the LaCie-website provides 2 back-up programs (Win and OSX). I already have tried the Windows one (Genie Timeline) and it works like a charm (who knew huh!). I guess I will trie the LaCie suggested software for OSX now to backup to the Cloudbox and keep TimeMachine do backups to my USB connected external hard drive.
Let's hope we get it working with OSX Yosemite... -
I edit files with DW in WYSIWYG mode and leave the title
section on the template empty so that I can insert a specific title
for each page. However, everytime I edit the template and update

template?YOur template has not been properly made if this is
happening. Try creating
a NEW template from a blank page using FILE | Save As
Template... Make the
title tag in your current template look like the one in the
new template by
manually adding the required editable region. If you also
will want to add
behaviors to these pages you will also need to copy the
editable region
called "head".

Import data backup into another DB instance
Hello all.
I need to import a Data Backup into Another Database instance. MaxDb version 7.3.
On higher versions of MaxDb I performed this operation without any problems (http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/43/d5ebc2c9ed3ab3e10000000a422035/frameset.htm).
For this version of MaxDB I have such problem:
the commands don't coincide with help description, I define backup template, transfer DB instance to admin state, open utility session and try to srart recovery (there is no command db_activate RECOVER <template>)

After upgraded to Yosemite, I noticed my HD has some extra Backups, and it grows, it was around 100MB at the time when I noticed it, 2 hours later it became near 500MB.
They are not TM local snapshots, I already run "sudo tmutil disable local", TM's preference also does not list local snapshots.
Before upgrade, Backups category is always Zero.
Any idea what these Backups are? How can I disable / delete it?

I disabled sleepimage, /var/vm/ does not have sleepimage file;
My iOS devices all backup to iCloud, ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ is empty.
I rebuilt spotlight index, I do see some size counting difference on other categories (Other, & Apps), but Backups category is same

It usually errors out in the middle of trying to backup the very large "iPhoto Library (original)" file, so I went digging into this file back in time. About a month ago, I emptied the trash in iPhoto for the first time, and the size of the iPhoto Library file shrank from 87 GB down to just 1 GB. That seems rather extreme, and according to iPhoto, I still should have approximately 62 GB of photos remaining. The last completed backup that Time Machine was able to make had the library file at 800 MB. Even more strange, the current iPhoto Library file on my iMac is 83 GB. So I think this is the reason why TM is trying to make another complete backup of this file.
I'm guessing that if TM is able to completely backup the iPhoto Library file, the errors will go away. Does this seem like a reasonable hypothesis?
If so, then I'll need to delete files on the TM volume to make more room. At one point last year, I had tried splitting my monolithic iPhoto Library into 3 smaller libraries, and later merged them again under the current name "iPhoto Library (original)". These changes/instances of the libraries were all captured on TM. If I delete the original monolithic iPhoto Library file (named "iPhoto Library") on the TM volume, will I also lose my current iPhoto library (named "iPhoto Library (original)"? In other words, how does TM distinguish one file from another? By the file name? Or some other more permanent identifier?The backup volume was full. That shouldn't happen, because TM is supposed to manage disk space by deleting snapshots as needed to make room for a new one, up to the last complete snapshot, which is never removed automatically. Normally, a snapshot won't be started if there isn't enough space for it.
First, I strongly suggest that you make a new backup (not necessarily with Time Machine) on another external drive. A single backup isn't enough to be safe.
One possibility is that you were writing other data to the volume during the backup. Apple recommends that no other data be stored on a backup volume.
If you've moved any files to the Trash on the backup volume, empty the Trash.
Sometimes a reboot will clear the error.
Otherwise, turn Time Machine OFF temporarily in its preference pane. Launch Disk Utility, select the backup volume, and run Repair Disk. That operation may take a few hours. If the volume is repaired successfully, or if no problems are found, try another backup.
If TM still isn't working right, boot into Recovery (command-R at startup) and repair the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Reboot as usual and try TM again.
As a last resort, put the backup drive aside and don't use it until you're sure you'll no longer need the data. Then erase it and start over. Do this only if you have at least one other backup device. -
Add Date variable to DB backup to file

I use DBA Calender to schedule my backups
When creating a backup template for backup to file is there a way that i can add a date variable.
So that in the filename that is written to disk the date is included in the filename
Because when i backup this flat file to tape using TSM i want the date of the backup to show.

Missing Templates & Missing Soundtrack Instruments...
On an iMac we recently did a full HD erase and clean install of Leopard. We just did a clean full install of FCS1 (5.1.4) ran all updates and it is working just fine. However in DVDSP and in Soundtrack Pro assets are missing and cannot be found...
All of the templates in DVDSP and all of the instruments and SFX in Soundtrack Pro are gone. We did a FULL install and used all of the discs the default install configuration, nothing out of the ordinary. I searched in the Machintosh HD>Library>Application Support>DVDSP folder for templates - EMPTY same for Soundtrack Pro. Is that the correct place to be looking? I tried searching in Spotlight for templates and can't find anything same with Soundtrack Pro.
I've searched around on the forums and tried others suggestions but still with no success. Any suggestions?during installation one can elect to install or not install templates. (I choose not to install the PAL templates, for example) And if they're moved, say to a different drive, they can get lost. Reinstallation is not a big deal at all. And you may be able to install just the templates. I haven't done that in a while.
