Backup to gmail problems

Recently after switching to the droid razr maxx, my backup to gmail app hasn't been doing what it's supposed to do. It backs up all my sms messages that I've sent, but doesn't always backup the incoming text messages. Any help? Need this problem to be solved. Thank you.

An email will not be in the account's Sent mailbox unless the message was successfully sent. What happens to a message after it is successfully sent has nothing to do with the iPhone or with the iPhone's Mail application, or with any email client used to send a message that was successfully sent.
You should contact Google customer or technical support.

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me. Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

First Thunderbird portable is supported by its author at portableapps.com.
Secondly you are describing exactly how the IMAP email standard works and Thunderbird has no control over that.
Thunderbird has Local Folders to move messages that you want to keep locally. Maybe the portable version does too.

HT1766 I have multiple issues, backup password, Gmail Error Msg, and ID problems.

I want to back up to my computer, but can not remember my username. I thought it would be the same as my Apple password but it isn't. Is there anyway to recover it. I actually just want to turn it off.
Also, does anyone know why my husband's phone defaults to my Apple ID everytime he wants to download something? I look at the user ID in the Store and it has his user ID, but to sign it, it shows mine and wants my password?
Also, I get an error message if I try and use the mail app for GMail. And sometimes purchase I make end up on husbands phone.
P.S. I have Iphone 4S and my husband has Iphone 4. I hope that can help someone, so I can fix some of these issues.
I know these are a lot of issues, but if any one can help even a little with one or some of these problems, I will be so grateful and a load off my mind.

on your husband iphone - go to setting - app store - apple id - log out and log in with his id.
If your using a app for Gmail, I suggest contacting the app developer or see if they have a support forum.

Gmail problems on wifi

Hi I have problem with my Gmail account when using only wifi. As I am out of my country often I have to use wifi for data transfer. I have Q10 with all the latest updates. Everything else is working fine ( facebook, whatsapp, browsing...). I can't receive or send any emails, and in settings I got this message: the server smtp.google.com for your account is not responding...
Any idea??

It sounds like there is firewall in your WiFi router.
Can you try this while connected to a different wifi router, perhaps a totally open hotspot such as McDonalds or Starbucks?

Crystal Report Server Backup and Recovery problem

I have a problem on the backup Crystal Report Server
My Environment:
- Windows Server 2003
- Crystal Report Server XI R2
- MySQL Database for Central Management Server System Tables(Default setting in the Crystal Report Server installation)
- Tomcat (Default seting in the Crystal Report Server installation)
I stop the Central Management Server before backup.
I run the following command to backup Central Management Server System Table:
mysqldump --user=root --password=pass1234 boe115 > C:\CMSBackup.sql
It is ok to generate CMSBackup.sql file.
After backup, I re-install the Crystal Report Server and run the following command to restore Central Management Server System Table:
mysqldump --user=root --password=pass1234 boe115 < C"\CMSBackup.sql
After finish the restore process, I cannot found my setting on the Central Management Server System.
Any backup step i missed ?

Hard Disk Crash, Have Backup but still problems - Help!

Hello,
My mother board, power supply and hard disk crashed, but I had my iTunes backed up using Norton Ghost. After installing a new system board, power supply and hard disk, I installed the OS, installed iTunes 7 and then restored the library from backup.
Problem is that now I have a whole bunch of songs that have a ! icon. When I try to play them, iTunes says that it cannot locate the song.
Any ideas???
Also, I have not hooked my iPod up to this machine. Will iTunes have issues with this iPod or will it recognize it since the library I restored is from that iPod?

Backup Failed - The Problem may be temporary

I startet getting the following error message tonight:
"The backup was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk. The problem may be temporary. Try again later to back up. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk."
The Time Machine drive is a 2TB Hitachi, connected via an eSATA 6G PCIe 2.0 Max Power controller card.
Time Machine has been making successful backups for weeks.
Steps taken so far:
Repair disk with disk utility (no repair needed)
Confirm that Spotlight was not indexing disk.
Restart computer.

All the errors relate to that app. It may be corrupted, or there may be other problems.
See #C3 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum). There are a couple of things there you haven't tried yet. I'd start by just excluding that app.
But it sounds like the eSata connection may be the problem.
Do you have a USB or FireWire disk you can try instead, or connect the drive via USB or FireWire? That may rule some things in or out.

Blackberry HUB "Show Read Filed Emails" ON AND OFF button SERIOUS Gmail PROBLEM NEED BUG FIX ASAP!

Its been for years (starting from 10OS Version 10.2 ) I couldn't see filed/labeled emails in my Z30/Z10 Blackberry HUB of my Gmail account, but I just downloaded Blackberry Blend and it started to show all my filed/labeled emails, but I still cant see them in my Blackberry HUB! Maybe you can tell me how to make Read Filed Emails visible in Blackberry HUB too?
Blackberry HUB >> Settings >> Display and Actions:
Show Read Filed Emails is ON
Show Sent Emails is ON
Both are turned on, but I still cant see them like on Blackberry Blend.. On search field then I type specific email from filed/label from my Gmail account I immediately finds it, but then I go back to Blackberry HUB all I can see just emails from inbox and single sent emails and YES "SYNC ALL EMAIL FOLDERS" IS SET TO ON AND "SYNC TIMEFRAME" IS SET TO FOREVER (''Sync All Email Folders'' is set ON and ''Sync Timeframe'' is set FOREVER).

As you can see then ''Show Read Filed Emails'' is ON, Blackberry Blend changes and I can see all my emails (and there are a lot of unread ones! (sorry I blurred some of my emails for privacy)), but in my devices Blackberry HUB there is no changes and its displaying the same thing like ''Show Read Filed Emails'' was OFF. I miss a lot of emails and its really annoying and I think you understand why.. Blackberry Blend desktop version is a savior today, but THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION!
Any FIX suggestions ASAP?

I tried a lot of times to delete and sign in again and again, but it looks like only Blackberry Blend respond to every setting changes! Blackberry HUB doesn't respond AT ALL! IPhone 5 backup file size problem

Hi,
On Monday I have upgraded from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5. I have setup the iPhone 5 as old (not new device) and restored all settings and data
via iCloud from my iPhone4 backup. Everything works just fine , except I have a problem with the size of the new iPhone 5's backup file.
iPhone 4's backup files , both on iCloud and my laptop, have the size of 236 MB. iPhone 5's backup file size is only 58 MB.
The backup file size is the same when using OTA iCloud backup or iTunes backup.
What am I missing ?
iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.2, iTunes 11.0.1.12, Windows 7 64bit.

Your question is interesting. I don't really know the answer, but if that happened to me, I'd be delighted!
After all, you're saying everything is working just fine, and yet your new backup is 25% the size of your old one. I would view that as the backup is being done a whole lot more efficiently, with old junk having been discarded.
I would be really upset and concerned if the backup size went the other way -- if the new backup was 4 times the size of the old one.
Basically, you will find efficiencies in storage used on your iOS device if you restore it. I suspect you're seeing similar efficiencies here. Given everything is working fine, it sounds like cause for celebration.

Apple Mail and Gmail problems

I put all 3 of my gmail accounts into apple mail but now apple mail will not stop retrieving my old messages from gmail one at a time and I keep hearing that weird chime. How do I fix this?

Is it still downloading the messages? Not quite clear on what the problem is - or why it's a problem.

Trying to backup despite Volume problems

I appear to have some volume problems with my internal HDD.
When I try to diagnose and fix it with Disk Utility the error is:
"Incorrect number of thread records" & "Invalid volume directory count"
Though the volume needs repairing, disk utility can't do it (nor can TechTool Pro http://www.micromat.com/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&Itemid=42&func=view&id= 525&catid=6)
Since I can't fix it I think I understand that it would be best to back things up, reformat the drive.
My question is esssentially academic. Would backing things up copy the volume problem I'm experiencing? or would it even allow me to copy things correctly? And how does one know what file was damaged or corrupted?

Good questions. Repairing the HD problem is something Disk Warrior could possibly correct. It's the best app. for resolving directory problems.
Did Disk Utility specifically tell you that it couldn't fix the drive, or did it simply report the error. If it's the latter, I would rerun Disk Utility as many times as necessary to get a clean run (no problems). This may not be possible given what was reported in your Micromat referenced link, however, it's worth a try.
Given the current state of the directory, you would not be able to create a clean clone backup of the drive. I suspect you would see an error during the copying. You could though drag/drop specific folders/files to the drive to the extent your HD cooperates. IMO, a "must" for any maintenance strategy.
Do you have a current cloned backup of your system. If you do, you could always copy it over the existing drive. If it is "somewhat current", you could drag/drop important data files on your computer's HD to either external media or another parition on the external, then recopy the clone to the HD. Afterward, move the data files back to their original locations.

TC backups causing Internet Problems

I have a 1TB TC connected to a Netgear Wireless Router that is connected to the WAN port of my Comcast Cable Modem. The NetGear's wireless is disabled so that it is only functioning as a DHCP server and gig-switch on the network. All devices on the switch (including the TC) can communicate with the Internet fine...
Until I run a backup FROM A COMPUTER ON THE SWITCH. Devices on the TC seem to have priority and backup without an issue and don't experience any problems. Devices on the switch, however begin dropping packets...about 50-80% drop rate to where connecting through the gateway to the internet is almost impossible. This only happens when a backup is running across the Netgear. As soon as I stop the backup from my MBP, the switches connection becomes stable again.
Does this sound like a faulty switch (perhaps my Netgear can't handle the load) or a problem with the TC? I only suspect the TC because of all the other issues people have had with dropping connections...
Also, does anyone know if TC is using some type of packet prioritization through the router for backups? It almost seems as if all the available bandwidth on the switches ports are being chewed up by the TC backup from my MBP.

Ok, if I do a direct hookup to my computer, its antenna->cable->modem->cable->computer. That gives me internet to only one computer.
If I use the airport express it's antenna->cable->modem->cable->router->and cables from the router go to: Imac, eMac, and airport express.
which mode you set on the Airport? Specialy, what you set on the question about your Internet >Configuration?
Umm...I don't remember and I can't figure out how to find out without resetting it but I have some good news. I reset it earlier because I remembered that the apple customer service person had me put in some apple DNS server numbers which have nothing to do with my server's so I reset it and manually put in my server's DNS numbers and it's working pretty well since then so I have my fingers crossed.

The antenna on the roof was installed and paid for when I signed up with my provider and it belongs to them. They invented the system. It is my only connection to my provider.
