Backup to Vault Fails Before Switching From Copying Masters to Next Step

My backup to a Vault in Aperture 3 has failed.
I have successfully upgraded to Aperture 3 from Aperture 2. Everything works well, except backing up to a Vault. I have attempted to save the entire library to two different drives - one internal and one external, both empty and tested as OK in the Disk Utility. The backups - multiple times - simply stopped at the same place. The usual sequence is copying masters and then versions, but the full backups never went beyond copying masters. I’ve set up additional libraries of individual projects, and those libraries backed up to vaults with no problem. I had no problems with saving to a Vault with the Aperture 2 library.
I’m using a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard (10.6.2), 2x2.66 Dual-Core Intel Xeons, and 10gb of memory. There are four internal drives, and two external drives connected by a firewire connection. The computer and drives are unchanged through the transition to Aperture 3.
Any suggestions?

I Have exact the same problem.
Originally updated a 150 GB Library from 2.1.4 to Ap 3; Backing up to a NAS based Vault stops after doing the masters.
I ended in reinstalling Ap 3, and Creating a new library from scratch. Reimporting the upgraded library worked fine, but Vault freezes like before.
Creating gain a new library and Importing original masters and versions step by step. After every import Vault backup works until now (60% done).
I m curious wether it will work when I m finished.
All my keywording etc. will be gone then !

Having trouble switching back to print mode on my printer? I can only switch from copy to fax to scan. How do I switch to print???

  • Psc won't switch from copy to print

I so need help!  My hp psc 750 won't switch from copy mode to print mode.  I have a job I need to print and when I go to print it, it says printer error and puts my print job in queue.  Nothing is waiting to copy, it just won't go to print mode.  Help please!!!

I would start by checking the USB cable is connected between the printer and computer.  Next make sure the printer driver is installed and that the printer is not set to "use printer offline".

  • Pixma MX420 switches from copy to fax

My MX420 switches (on its' own)  from Copy to Fax and then starts printiing Fax reports continually.  I cannot find anything in the printer queue; I have re-installed the driver; I have completely uninstalled the printer and then re-installed it, and the problem persists.  What am I missing?

    Hi Moti!
I am sorry to hear that your printer switches to Fax mode and prints reports continuously.  In order for me to better assist you with this, I will need to ask some questions.  Please answer the following for me:
    1.  What fax report is it printing?
    2.  When was the last time you received a fax?
    3.  Have you experienced issues sending/receiving faxes recently?
I look forward to assisting you!

  • TS1398 In "Set Up" I try to select our secured WIFi router from the list of available networks.  However, it will not allow me to select it. This then prevents me from going to the next step. What do I do?

In "Set Up" I have tried to select our secured WiFi router from the available list shown.  It is listed.  However, when I try to select it, it will not check off or remain blue when I lift my touch.  This then will not allow me to go on to the next step.  What do I do to connect to a secure WiFi router? I do know the WEP Key number but there is no place to type then in.

The trial can only be loaded 1 time as far as I know. You could try http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, remove any left over parts of the Acrobat folder, and reboot. Then try an install again, but my guess is you will have to purchase Acrobat at this point.

  • Brconnect fails when switching from SAPR3 user to SAPSR3

I have a problem when doing a refresh of our development environments. Our Development instance was recently upgraded to 10G from 9.2.0.5. This upgrade was performed by our team in France. During the upgrade they switched the data from SAPR3 to a new owner called SAPSR3. The problem occurs when we try to use the oradbusr.sql script to create our OPS$ users to utilize brconnect. Here are some of the failures and the things I have already tried. I tried to use the tool as intended. @<path>\oradbusr.sql SAPSR3 NT <domain><SID>. This works. Creates two users. The problem is when I issue the following command:
    brconnect -u / -c -f dbstart (Error Message I recieve)
    C:\Documents and Settings\c11adm>brconnect -u \ -c -f dbstart
    BR0801I BRCONNECT 7.00 (13)

    so I tried the following

    Here is the results:

It seems that it is looking for the password to the "\" user. I thought this was the sys or system user in Oracle. I changed the passwords.
alter user system identified by <password>. I did the same for sys. When I tried to issue the brconnect -u \ -c -f dbstart command i get the same problem,. Any ideas what user he is looking for or how to correct this problem????

  • Perl applications failing after switch from 5.16 to 5.18

I recently updated my system and it seems perl recieved an update too as it is now at 5.18. However, after the system update I could not start rxvt-unicode anymore (it segfaulted). After some research and reinstalling I found that perl is responsible for that: Going back to 5.16 fixed it.
To keep a long story short: A lot of my perl modules could not handle the new perl version. I am not a 100% sure if these would all be aur packages but I suppose not, as I also had an issue with ImageMagick (its' perl module). Finally I somehow hacked together a few commands that reinstalled most of my perl modules. However, this does not string strike me as a pretty solution (as I just searched for packages containing "perl" and reinstalled them.
For example, ImageMagick needed this as a seperate install. Now, I am wondering whether there is way to do something about this problem. I can't imagine I am the only one having a problem with this perl update, so maybe there is someone who could help me straighten this up.
    Thanks in advance,
    javex

Many things broke with perl 5.18, I think you should report bugs upstream.
Marc Lehmann (the guy behind urxvt) was pretty unhappy about perl 5.18 http://lists.schmorp.de/pipermail/rxvt- … 01795.html

  • Windows jump and change to outlines when switching from one to the next

Windows 7 SP1, 64 bit, dual monitors, NON-transparent windows. When I hover the mouse pointer over an icon on the task bar, open windows disappear, leaving only the outline. When I select the one I'm over, things return to normal.
Is there any way to turn this effect off? It is very distracting to have windows appear and disappear suddenly.

This only happens for me when I hover over Taskbar thumbnails but you could try disabling Aero Peek on the Show Desktop button (Taskbar properties) as well as disabling Aero Peek on Taskbar thumbnails (System Properties->Advanced->Performance->Visual
    Effects) :

  • I switched from vista and lost all my music and stuff I can't get it back nor can i get all my purchesed items back. Is there anyway I can??

I really need this fixed its driving me crazy. I wish iTunes had a way of taking all the songs from the iPod and just downloading them to the itunes without having to delete all that is on there. I really want my Purchesed Items back. I wasted probably over 100$ on this....

Okay, doing my best to ignore the EXTREMELY annoying font you chose to use.
Is there a reason why you did not create a backup of your media and other important files before switching from Vista?
It is the users responsibility to back up their media, it is NOT Apple's responsibility.
When you purchase CD's or DVD's, if you lose them, you repurchase them.  Same deal with digital media.
If you have a backup of your media, simply copy the files from the backup to your computer.
If you still have access to your old computer, simply copy the files from it to your new computer.

  • Trying to switch from nvidia to nouveau; startx freezes system

I'm having high cpu issues, possibly related to nvidia and want to switch to nouveau to test this out. I followed the Arch Wiki for nouveau but am having issues being able to startx. My process:
    - Logout of openbox
    - Remove nvidia stuff:
    # pacman -Rsc nvidia nvidia-utils opencl-nvidia
    # pacman -S xf86-video-nouveau
Installing nouveau also prompted the removal of nvidia-libgl and replaced it with mesa-libgl, as well as the installation of nouvea-dri.
    - Removed my existing monitor config file:
    # mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf.bk
    - Verified that I have no modeset options specified to kernel options via syslinux, nor blacklisting of nouveau in /etc/modprobe.d/ files.
    $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
    # /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
    blacklist uvcvideo
    blacklist pcspkr
    $ ls /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
    10-evdev.conf 10-monitor.conf.bk 10-quirks.conf 50-synaptics.conf
Nothing related to monitors or screens in 10-evdev, 10-quirks or 50-synaptics, and the 10-monitor.conf.bk file has the following contents (just in the event it *is* picked up by Xorg):
    $ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf.bk

    # Option "SLI" "Auto"

    EndSection
    - Reboot
I am at work and have my computer docked. Nouveau seemed to be active, observed by the fact that it auto-switched to KMS during boot. It also picked up my external monitor, which was off, and started duplicating the display on my external monitor and laptop during text boot (which nvidia does not do). The laptop had what I'll call "screen artifacts" on the lower right (white lines, jumbled pixels) after switching to KMS, but not a huge deal. I went to startx and it just froze after spitting out the various initialization lines. I have to hard kill and reboot. From there, I uninstall nouveau, re-install nvidia (which replaces mesa-libgl with nvidia-libgl), and reboot again to a working system.
    Any suggestions?

In addition, I can't seem to find any other files related nvidia that seem like they would matter, except for ~/.nvidia-settings-rc, which I moved to ~/.nvidia-settings-rc.bk (prior to the attempt which created the log above). Keep in mind that this is after re-installing nvidia so I can startx and have a working system... Is there anything that looks like it wouldn't be removed by the nvidia package?

Anything look odd in the log or the files?
As always, feel free to suggest other things to try -- I can pipe ls into files to show what files are available when I'm pre-startx with nouveau installed, or more Xorg logs... My computer is not happy wtih nvidia at all and is nearly unusable. I really need to solve this until nvidia is compatible with 3.11 kernels again.

  • Printer won't switch from one tray to another

Having problems with my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium not doing the auto switch from default tray to next tray during print job.  I've tried unplugging the printer, removing and replacing tray 2, checking for jams, shuffling paper, resetting the default tray (paper can be pulled from both trays when set as default), but I still get an "out of paper" message when the default tray is empty even though the other tray is empty.  I can manually exchange empty tray for full one, but the printer no longer automatically switches over when one of the trays is empty.  HELP!

  • I am switching from a pc to mac and want to know how I go about transferring files from one to the other.  There is a chance that I will have to hand my pc back before I receive my MacBook so I will need to transfer on to some sort of external hard drive.

I am switching from an acer laptop to a MacBook Pro.  I may have to hand in my laptop before I receive my new MacBook. What is the best way to back up my files so that I can transfer them to my MacBook.  I cloud cannot be installed on my laptop because it uses a version of windows that is older and doesn't support it.  Hope someone can help.

Connect a blank powered external drive to the PC.
Right click on the Disk in the File manager and choose format: exFAT
(if it's a XP machine, first install exFAT from Microsoft and reboot)
navigate to your user account folders on the PC and drag and drop copy (or copy and paste) to the external drive.
(if a program has your files, then export them out first)
Hook up the drive to the Mac, and transfer files to the desktop or to their same appropritate folders.
Import photo's into iPhoto program, import music into iTunes etc and they will manage those files.
You can continue to use the external exFAT drive between Mac's and PC's
Do not format the drive NTFS or FAT, NTFS can't be written too by the Mac and FAT can't hold over 4GB sized files.
If you format exFAT on the Mac, it likely won't work correctly on the  PC.
"Migration" type programs are a utter waste of time and effort between PC's and Mac's for the fact that only certain files (and no programs or anything else) will work between them, also it's a hassle and takes too long. So don't even bother with it.

  • My Fantom backup drive is failing. I want to copy the time machine contents to a new backup drive and continue on as if nothing has happened.  Can I do this and if so how?  I have intel iMac running Mountain Lion.  Fantom Drive via Firewire 800.

My Fantom backup drive is failing and I have to send it in for warranty repair.  Before I do that I want to copy the time machine contents to a new drive and then use it for the backup, continuing on as if nothing had gone wrong with the first drive.  Can I do this?  Is it as simple as duplicating the first drive and replacing it with the second? New drive arrives Tuesday PM and both drives have dual firewire 800 ports.

I have used the Disk Utility to verify the contents of the backup drive so I don't think I have any corrupt files.  The drive just takes a minute or so to spin up to speed.  If I turn it off and then back on, it beeps at me for a few seconds and then starts it's slow process of trying to spin.  I think it's a power problem not a data problem.  I have my fingers crossed that it holds on until Tuesday PM when the new drive arrives.  I'm thinking that my two options are to duplicate the bad drive or partition the new drive and put the old backups on one partition and start afresh on the second partition.  Any input?
And thanks to both of you for the valuable information so far!
