Backup while database are running in replication mode

We have to devise the stratgey for backup and restore of database which are involed into repliation e.g. master database and snapshot database

I am sorry, but all of the iPad content is gone now. With no backup, there is no way to retrieve anything. You cannot backup now either. Use recovery mode, restore your iPad and download your content again and start all over. You have no choice.

i changed the request status to red in the infocube. if i try to delete the request i think it will effect the compression job that is running right know. should i wait to see if the compression job is successful before i delete the request from the infocube?
there are five compression job that are scheduled to compress it compressed all the four request successfully and compressing the last i right know?
i am really scared about this do you think every thing will be alright even if the compression job failed? what are the negative effects of the action i did? should i run the report of the compression job is complete to check the performance or the data is ok?

  • Why we cannot take hot backup if database is in noarchive log mode

    Hi,
I am aware that if database is in noarchive log mode, we cannot take hot backups and only cold backup is possible.
I would like to know the technical reason behind this restriction?
    Thank You
    Sarayu

Hot backups are fuzzy backups, inconsistent, in other words, since something is always happening in the database.  When you recover, you restore data files and then apply redo to make the transactions consistent.  You can do a complete recovery or recover to a point in time.  So where does the redo come from?  That's what we call archiving redo logs.  When the online redo gets full, it gets archived.
In the case of an instance crash, the redo is there in the online redo logs, so Oracle can recover automatically.  Anything beyond that, having to do with storage media, is a media recovery, and requires those archived logs.  So unless you have some other way to get your data back, always run in archivelog mode.
It is really important to understand the concepts.  Please read the docs.

  • How to get updated values from the loops while they are running

    Hello,
I am having difficulty solving a very basic problem, how to access the updated values from the 'FOR loop' while its running?  Basically, the VI  I am currently working on calls two sub VIs. Each sub VI has a for loop, and both VIs may or may not run for same number of iterations. My goal is to read the values at each terminal inside the loop of both sub VIs, in the Main VI. I tried to achieve it using Global Variables, but in main VI it displays only the last iteration value from both sub VIs. Could anyone please tell me whrere am I going wrong? Is there any other/better way to achieve this.
I appreciate any input on this issue.
Kudos are (always) welcome for the good post. :-)

    Dennis,
In attached VI, I can see the values changing in the sub VI from the main VI with the numeric indicator whose reference is passed on to the sub VI. Now if I wanted to store or use those values how do I do that? I tried to chnge the indicator to control and read from it (in the attached VI) , but the the indicator updates only once. Tried to create a property node and read the Value from it and it didn't work either.
    Thanks in Advance!

  • ML Sleeps While Programs are Running

Twice now, my iMac running Mountain Lion has fallen asleep while a program is actively running.  (Ex. Encoding a movie in Handbrake and burning a BD disc with Toast.)  Does anyone know why this is happening?  I have never had issues with my Mac sleeping during such processes before. I actually count on this because I very often walk away as these longer processin tasks run and/or start them when I toddle off to bed.  I hope this is something I can resolve and not a bug.

    According to Ars Technica:
"In Mountain Lion, OS X no longer pays attention to disk activity when deciding if it's OK to put the system to sleep. Instead, Apple recommends that applications make what Apple calls "power assertions" as a way to tell the OS when they're doing some useful work that the system should stay awake for. This policy allows the OS to put the system to sleep the moment there are no applications still holding power assertions to prevent the action."
Apparently the "caffeinate" terminal command can be used in conjunction with specific processs to keep your machine awake until the process completes but it also seems that apps will have to be updated to comply with this new power management protocol. I've noticed the problem with Retrospect 9, HandBrake and RipIt so far...
I have not figured out the terminal commands for using caffeinate with these apps—if anyone has some pointers I would be grateful.
    Thx

  • What can you do while maps are running?

Heya, I have a nokia 5800 and the maps service is pretty good (except the waiting for GPS problem).
It's a bit impractical for me to test myself, but does anyone know what you can do while the Ovi maps software is on?
For example, say I have the GPS set to take me somewhere, can I switch applications to a game or something and still have the voice over of Ovi maps in the background?
Also generally, does anyone know if the "Send to phone" feature on the Ovi store (the one you access from the computer) costs money? Or is it free.
    Cheers
    Solved!

    Jason,
As a matter of fact, you can test this yourself...just start Maps, create a walking route, and then try to do something...whatever it is that you are interested in trying out...call your mobile from your home phone, switch applications...figure out whatever it is you want to, and let us know if you find something interesting
As for the "send to phone" feature, it will simply send you an SMS.  It will cost you whatever a regular incoming SMS costs you.  An alternative it to use Ovi Store from your phone when you are connected with WiFi if you want to avoid costs.

    Hi,
i have database function in oracle that do a mass database updating.
this function takes about 10-15 min to work.
i need to start it by user.
    anyway, my problem is that:
i need to start this function, but continue of working in the application, and when the function is finish to have the return value that tell me if it succeeded or not.
now when i start this function, i can't continue to work with the application.

    use the THREAD Object.

  • Disabling while certain apps are running

Apologies if this has been asked before and answered, but I can't find it anywhere.
Is there any way (other than manually turning time machine off in the sys prefs) to get time machine not to do backups when a certain application is running? There are obviously some applications (direct-to-disk audio, games etc) which don't appreciate having time-machine suddenly grinding into action while they are running, and I'm wondering whether there is a script or something to persuade time-machine to do a check of running applications before starting its business.
Actually, now that I think about it, the same sort of functionality could be handy for Spotlight and .Mac Sync too....

TM is designed as a low priority task and should stand aside when user-level resources are being demanded. If you are sure TM is not acting this way you should report this to Apple Feedback and give as much supporting evidence as possible.

  • Xk02 is not running inthe  N mode

    Hi,
I recorded a Bdc of XK02 but it is working fine in call transaction mode 'A' but not in MOde 'N'. Please help me out....
    Regards,
    Kranthi.

    Hi,
Many SAP transactions behave differently in online mode and in Batch mode and this mode is determined by the SY-BINPT variable that can be controlled using the OPTIONS command in addition to the CALL TRANSACTION.
 For example, the error message that usually comes in status bar while you are running the transaction online might appear in a popup window when you are running that in batch. This will make your fields disabled for input. This OPTIONS addition will remove this problem
The way to use the OPTIONS addition.
Declare a work area of type CTU_PARAMS.
Fill the fields of CTU_PARAMS. The field NOBINPT should be set to ‘X’.
This will set the SY-BINPT to space. So now the transaction which you will be calling will run in online mode.
    Example.
    clear X_OPTIONS.
    X_OPTIONS-DISMODE = 'E'.
    X_OPTIONS-UPDMODE = 'S'.
    X_OPTIONS-CATTMODE = ' '.
    X_OPTIONS-DEFSIZE = ' '.
    X_OPTIONS-RACOMMIT = ' '.
    X_OPTIONS-NOBINPT = 'X'.
    X_OPTIONS-NOBIEND = ' '.
call transaction 'BP' using T_BDCDATA[] options from X_OPTIONS.
    Note:
Do not use the MODE & UPDATE additions when you are using OPTIONS. The mode & update values are passed in the CTU_PARAMS structure.

  • How to recompile a single JSP in WLS10.3 running in production mode

In OAS there was a parameter...something like ?precompile=true which would force recompile of a JSP. Does anyone know any equivalent setting in WLS? We are running in production mode, but there are cases where we need to make a JSP change to fix an issue. And I dont want to have to run the server in development mode.
    Thanks

Just an update...It cannot be done. Even if you compile the class manually and put it in place of the old class, it will not take effect. The WLS must cache the classes in production mode, which makes perfect sense. Just a pain.

  • How to backup MSSQL  database in ECC6

Hi guys, i am doing patching for our internal ECC6 server. So i need to backup the database before run the patches. I have onliy done database backup in Oracle using Brtools. So i am not familiar with Ms Sql Server backup. Can anyone tell me step by step to do this backup and send me link or screen shot or any type of documents or guidence which help me to resolve this issue. I really appreciate a prompt reply from you guys. Would like to thank you in advance.

    Hello,
you have to ensure that the SQL Server service (which is performing the backup) can access the share. To ensure this, start the SQL Server with an account that has enough rights on the share (domain user with write rights). You then should be able to create a backup device for the network share with
    use master
    exec sp_addumpdevice 'DISK','MyNetworkShare', '
    server\sharename\path\filename.bak'
Then you should be able to perform a backup via DB13 to this device or directly with TSQL running
    backup database <SID> to MyNetworkShare
    Best regards
      Clas

    Hi,
On unix/linux use: ps -fea|grep pmon
This will show all pmon process running (Each one is an Instance and you will see the name of the Instance here too), you can also check on /etc/oratab all the oracle databases in the server.
On Windows go to Control Panel, Administration, Services and take a look on the Oracle services.

  • How many databases can run in a server

How many databases can run in a server, how can we find how many databases are running there – in OS level for UNIX

You can have as many oracle instances as your system resources and kernel parameters allow you to.
A quick search to know how many oracle instances are running, check the OS processes:
    ps -ef | grep smon
This will list all smon manadatory instance processes, this way you'll know how many concurrently instances are running.

  • Firefix claims an update is available, and so I click to get it installed (I am running 5.0). I get a message that the install failed and that I need to make sure no other copies of FF are running on my computer. ??

The bigger issue is that it tries to run the update every time I click on a URL (like from an email). And so it opens a window to locate a browser, then starts the update - which then crashes with the message about making sure no other copies of FF are running.
