Backup with itunes

I have two clients and a friend using IPhone 3G. None of them are technically patient. Is their a way to backup the phone to their computer with the bluetooth connnection and not using itunes. I know if they have to plug and use itunes they will not do it. Thanks, Paul

Currently, that is not possible as you have described. The backup function only works through iTunes. Now, this might be different if you have the Enterprise software, but I haven't worked with that software, so I can't provide any insight.

  • Why can't i backup with iTunes 11

I am trying to backup with my Imac 27" running Lion, but I can't find any devices to back my Itunes library to.  I want to back up using my DVD +R-DL disks.  Am I doing something wrong?  (Just in case, I'm upgrading right now to Mountain Lion and will try again.)
    Thanks,
    Bob
p.s. running with Itunes 11.0.1 on my desktop.

This update is terrible; consider yourself lucky if you can't download it. I wish I read all of the complaints before installling. Without Steve Jobs, Apple's reign is over. It's just been one crappy decision after the other. For Christmas I'm buying different devices.

  • IPad backup with iTunes 12.1.2

After updating to OS X 10.10.3 and iTunes 12.1.2:
Local backup of iPad in iTunes on Mac stops all the time on time-out. (wire connected)
Sync and backup to iCloud works fine.
Anybody else encountered this and found a solution?

Check that you have the latest version of QuickTime (7.7.6) installed
Try varying the Play Audio Using setting in Edit > Preferences > Advanced (you'll need to restart iTunes for changes to take effect).  Most users experiencing playback issues who've found that this resolves the issue have reported that setting this to Direct Sound works.
If neither of these produce improvement (and assuming you're running a 64-bit edition of Windows) try installing this alternative version of iTunes:
iTunes 12.1.2 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
The "for older video cards" label is somewhat misleading; as with the previous 12.1 and 12.1.1 releases this provides a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installed, the same as all "64 bit" versions of iTunes prior to 12.1.  As well as video card incompatibility this version may address issues with playback as well as integration with third party tools.
For the third option, see also turingtest2's user tip on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps that may be necessary to completely remove all components of iTunes prior to re-installing.

  • Very slow CD import (and Backup) with itunes using Windows 7

I just got a new HP Pavilion Windows 7. It takes hours to import a CD thru itunes - seconds thru any other software. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes (all components) multiple times. Apple phone support was no help. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you

It's probably something else entirely, but just check under *Edit > Preferences > General > Import Settings* that you don't have a tick in the box marked *Use error correction when reading Audio CDs*.

*Fast backup for iTunes library (Windows Only)*
Grab SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time. And if your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes.

  • Does backup with iTunes include game data?

I have a iPod Touch 3G that I need to restore. If I backup using iTunes, does this include my saved game data (ie. all my unlocked levels on Angry Birds)?

    Answer is no.
If you want the iCloud backup you have to have n internet connection, thus WiFi.
The not working WiFi has happened with quite a number of users.
It is not exactly clear what is the cause but there are suggestions to clear it up:
Some people have had success by removing an apostrophe from the iPhone name. If your iPhone is called something like “John’s iPhone” then this might work. Go to Settings > General > About > Name and change it to something with no apostrophe.
Some people have reported success by putting the iPhone into Airplane mode and then going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, but the problem may return.
You could also try going to Settings > Control Center and disable Access on Lock Screen then turn your iPhone off and on again.
Make sure that your router firmware is up to date.
Try backing up your iPhone and then restoring it. Check how to factory reset an iPhone for details.
If nothing is working for you, try contacting Apple or take your iPhone into an Apple Store.
    Succes, Lex

  • Backup with iTunes only made matters worse.

I just backed up my iPhone and did my first restore becuause it was filled with grayed out music that I could not delete. Now this phone is free of space and it's saying that there's not enough space to restore it using my backup. I'm very angry right now because I now have no contacts. I know pictures are somewhere on this computer, and music is on iTunes, but what was the point of restoring and backing my files up if I was going to lose the main thing you need on a cell phone.. Please help.

Restore the phone as a new device, then restore your backup.

  • Iphone4 Can't backup with iTunes

Everyone, I really need some help
Every time i try to sync my new iphone 4 OS4 with my PC windows7 , iTunes always report an error stated that itunes could not backup the iphone "xxx" because a session could not be started with the iphone.
I've tried deleted the old backup
log in as new admin user
    reinstalling itunes
    hard reset my iPhone
    Changing timezone
None of this works, Can anyone guide me to solve this annoying problems plz??

Been having the same problem on mountain lion
Most forums say you must disconnect the users in AirPort Utility, but v6.1 no longer has this feature
So simply open “Finder” on the left under “Devices” you should see your “Time Capsule”. If not then it should be under “Shared”. Click on it and then select “Disconnect”. Then simply reconnect and that should be it
You can also restart the Time Capsule just by using Airport Utility.
Open Airport Utility and select the Time Capsule. Then up on the top bar select Base Station and click on Restart
Mine is now all working again

  • Please HELP!  My kid wiped my iPhone5 and I need to get my photos and videos off it!  I have no backup with iTunes :((  Is there a way to scan the device manually?

    hi,
New to this, so go easy on me.  I recently got my first iDevice - an iPhone 5.  I've used it for a month now and I have to say I love it.
But, I gave it to my kid this morning to look at.  It was locked, so I assumed it was safe.  WRONG.  5 mins later, I returned to him and my lovely iPhone5 was at the setup /pick your language screen!  Looks like he entered the password incorrectly too many times and wiped it.
Now - I thought it would be fairly easy to recover the data and the apps - but it turns out this is not the case.   I was never prompted to install iTunes and sync the device - not in the manual, not on the device when setting it up - so how was I to know that that would be my backup.  I checked iCloud at a suggestion of an IT pal - nothing there, despite knowing that I had a Photo stream enabled.  I may have disabled it only recently, but not sure if I can manually turn it on again?
Anyway - is there a way to manually scan my device and grab my all important photos and videos?
    Cheers for any suggestions!

    Hi Michela27,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you have content on your iPhone that isn't on your computer, the best thing is to use the advice in this article to transfer it to your new computer before setting up sync:

  • IPad Backup with iTunes 9.2 is taking in excess of 7 hours

When sycning my 64GB iPad (mostly free space no videos) I've had to stop the sync after 7 hours as I was running low on battery. iPad says not charging. Is this a normal amount of time to do a Sync? Is the iPad not supposed to be charging when USB is attached and iTunes is running? Host is a PC running a fully patched version of Windows Vista. I've done this three times. I've rebooted the PC and I've done a hard reset on the iPad withhout any change in the results.

First, I would make sure you have all push notifications turned off, to save battery power while synchronizing.
Next, I would make sure you're logged out of any App, like the Facebook App, that keeps you logged in unless you explicitly log out.
Then, I would reboot your computer before connecting your iPad to attempt to synchronize it.
I suspect the main issue is that sometimes, on some computers, for some reasons I've never researched, the USB port, which should default to high-speed mode (480 megabits per second), drops back to basically USB 1.0 speed (12 megabits per second, if memory serves). With some computers, you need to reboot and then try connecting after reboot to "reset" the USB port.
Another factor might be your iPad-to-USB cable, or the connector either on the iPad (unlikely) or computer (also unlikely, but more likely). Make sure you don't have any kinks or such in your cable, that might indicate it's frayed anywhere, especially at the connectors on each end. Make sure there's no dust in your iPad or USB ports that might interfere with a good electrical connection.
Not entirely scientific, but I'd look at those factors first, before going into fiddling with the iTunes folders, files, etc. which can get you into trouble faster.
    Good luck!

  • I`ve synched with itunes (windows) and iPad deleted my vacation pictures. Is there a way to recover it?

    Hello,
I went vacation and in the middle of this, in the hotel pc, i put my pictures on the ipad in order to empty my camera card. When I came back I`ve put the Ipad to sync with my home pc and the ipad deleted all the pictures. Is there a way to recover it? Before the delete process the Ipad made a backup with itunes, but I can`t find these pictures anywhere. Please help, this is really important to me.

Photos in the Camera Roll are not included with the iTunes sync process except for being included with your iPad's backup which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process. The Camera Roll is not touched and can't be deleted with the iTunes sync process.
One way photos in the Camera Roll can be removed is by importing the photos with your computer as with any other digital camera followed by deleting the photos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete, but then the photos would be available on your computer. iTunes does not handle the import of photos from any digital camera including from the iPad's Camera Roll.
Another way is by restoring the iPad with iTunes as a new iPad or not from the iPad's backup.
Another way is by transferring the backup from another iPad to a new iPad the first time a new iPad is connected to iTunes on the computer used for syncing with another iPad.
None of the ways to remove photos from the Camera Roll involve syncing with iTunes only.

  • Can't sync my iPhone with a cable with iTunes anymore.

I synced with iCloud. I backed up to iCloud. Now iTunes can't see my iPhone. It wants to restore my phone. Help! I just want to change a playlist and my iTunes won't see my iPhone. It wants to restore it.

Ok, I restored from backup with iTunes THEN restored from iCloud. Seems to be ok. When I am through getting music and photos back on, I'll unplug and see if the phone still appears under DEVICES.
