Backward compatibility on .SES files any advice?

Using Audition.CC now and can't use my old .ses session at all. I've seen independent freeware recommended and have tried this to no avail. Surely there must be an official fix from Adobe for this. After all if you use the most advanced MS Office you can still open old file types.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You will almost certainly need some help from the vendor of the software (Suite Spot, assuming that it's Ses2Sesx), and I'm sure he'll be along shortly. Incidentally, it's donationware, not freeware...

If i have the latest FCP 6.0.4 and QT installed, and captured HDV media as standard 1080i 60i HDV Basic setup, and were then to give my capture scratch folder of .mov files to a friend, could he import them as clips into the latest version of iMovie and edit no problem? i tried myself and had problems and need to make sure... my question relates to wanting to understand if QT captured files have a compatibility relationship that keeps others from being able to view them (other than having the same QT version). any insights?

NO. Because iMovie captures HDV as the Apple Intermediate Codec, AIC. The footage you captured in FCP with the native HDV codec won't even open on a machine without FCP installed...the codec is tied to FCP.
If the person will be using iMovie, then capture using iMovie. Always capture in the application you intend to edit the footage with.

Backwards compatibility of .psd files with spot channels

Over the years Adobe Photoshop has done a really excellent job of keeping image files backwards compatible. Unfortunately it is still possible to save files may not be opened by previous versions of the software. This happens when a spot color is specified in a color book that is not available in earlier versions of the software (for example the "Pantone+ Solid Coated" book that appears to be the new default).
Photoshop CS6 seems to be able to open files that contain spot colors from unavailable color books.
Photoshop CS4, CS5, and CS5.1 all give the error message:
"Could not complete your request because the specified color book cannot be found."
when trying to read a file with a Pantone+ spot color.
I know that there is probably nothing that CS6 can do to fix this situation, but it would be great if there were an update for the older software that turned this error message into a warning.

Yeah, that used to be a problem, and it's not the file format but the color book resolution code that is broken.
No, there's not much we can do since it affects every previous version of Photoshop.

Backward compatibility of CS6 files

I have Photoshop CS5 for Windows (version 12.1 x32), and I'm trying to open a CS6 file that was sent to me. When I do, none of the text layers are editable. Is this expected? Is there any way to fix it?

Actually, I think there's a bug in Photoshop CS6 that causes corrupt PSD files to be written. I don't think the text layers would be editable in Photoshop CS6 either, unfortunately.

Having a prob importing a large file from a sony DR 60 external drive via log a transfer in FCP this is the first time this has happened have the sony plug. HDisc compatibility is sorted as the first 2 short clips are imported. Any advice will be welcome

I can think of 2 things to check.
1. The Scratch disc has plenty of space.

Try installing Perian or VLC. Some AVIs require a codec which simply isn't available for Mac OS X.

I did the update to 3.6.11 - when it restarted it will not open any pages. When i go to check for updates it gives me this error: Update XML file malformed (200) - Any advice?

I did the update to 3.6.11 - After it started Firefox it would go to the requested site in the addressbar, but the page would be blank. I went to check for updates and it told me there was a problem in updating. It gave me this error message: Update XML file malformed (200)
I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same problem exists.

Make sure that the network.protocol-handler.external.javascript has the default value (false).

CS6 to older, or newer to CS6?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The external drive must be formatted in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", exFAT or FAT32, because OS X can't write in NTFS partitions by default.
As you just want the library on the external drive to make a backup of your library, you can format it in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" by using Disk Utility > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html (Note that you won't be able to use the external drive with PCs unless you install a special application in them).
Finally, drag your iTunes folder to your external drive

As for your error it sounds like the install files are corrupted. Please download a new copy of the install files.
