Backward saving IDCS4 to CS3 not working

I have CS3 with update 5.04 and cannot open files exported to inx from CS4. The people at the other end just purchased CS4 a few weeks ago and are following the book on downloading the draft-copy files to me using Yousendit.com. My attempts to open show a dialog box that says "Cannot open the document 'MyComputer:Desktop:File.inx'. This is not a valid InDesign interchange document."
When their file is converted to pdf, it opens, and I can grab each flattened page in Illustrator and copy/paste into CS3 for my tweaking, but that is not acceptable for the sake of continuity.
Any ideas, besides me purchasing the CS4 upgrade? I can't afford it at the moment, and in this economy, I'd like to make some small income off this project.

So it is isolated to my system - yet everything says code green.
I downloaded the 5.04 patch from Adobe and installed it. The installer said the patch install was finished. I assume that meant successfully. The InDesign info says 3.0.1 - but I don't see any confirming data anywhere about patches. The update search engine says my CS3 is up to date. What am I missing?
The plugins folder says my InCopy Import plugin is 3.0.0.424
InCopy Shared and Workflow plugins are 3.0.1.838
I don't know where to look for any confirmation on the update patch for 5.04.

Search in saved preview .pdf files not working any more

When I download a .pdf file from the internet and open it in preview, the search command works ok. When this same file is saved to disk and opened again, search is not working any more. Is this a bug, or my fault. Regards Rolf

I hope this helps...
A while back we have more than one browser running on our PC (IE, Firefox, Chrome) and we messed by how Acrobat views documents over the web.
I think that this has some relevance here, as around this time LC also started falling over previewing forms.
Now if we open LC and Acrobat is not running, the "Preview PDF" is not present or accessible. So now we fire up Acrobat before we open a form in LC Designer and the preview tab is there and functioning.
Not much of a workaround; but I am hoping that someone will have a better one!!!

Reinstall CS3 not working

I cleaned the disk as suggested but the CS3 is still ejecting everytime I try to reinstall program. The photoshop part and also Illustrator and the indesign would not open when I tried yesterday so I uninstalled CS 3 and now I'm trying to reinstall but can't. I'm on an IMac OS X 10.6.8. I also tried restarting, turning off computer but nothing helped.

See if downloading and installing helps get around the disc issue. You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

Masks in CS3 not working

I did this tutorial here (even though I did not need it) to
see if what I was doing on my own was wrong but I found out that it
is not. Is anyone having problems with CS3 not showing masks when
you publish to SWF? in the timeline the mask works fine but when I
test movie or publish the mask is no where to be found. Everything
is blank all I see is the stage itself.

Well the problem isnt in the movie its when i run the swf.
The mask doesnt show up all i see is the background.

Deactivate in CS3 not working

I tried to deactivate Dreamweaver CS3 for installing on a new computer. It was not working. It said there was no Internet Connection. This was clearly not true. It said there might be a problem with the firewall or a proxy. I checked both, this was not the case.
Then I tried to access https://activate.adobe.com via nmap, ping and a browser. This worked and the certificate was valid. Hereafter I checked the DNS and I noticed that the url was forwarded to https://activate.wip4.adobe.com . Unfortunately this site had no valid certificate.
The solution
I tried to add this line to my host file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\ets\hosts
192.150.16.69 activate.adobe.com
And after this I could deactivate CS3! I hope some of you can use this solution until Adobe sorts it out.

I'm able to make the droplet, but when I try to drag a folder over it Photoshop doesn't recognize it and tries to place the file next to the droplet icon. I'm not getting any error messages. Batch processing is working.
Reading a related windows os post on this problem suggests that it could be due to some remaining files from a removed CS2 version.
Perhaps my question should be how to remove all previous traces of CS2 from mac os x.

After swaping to macbook pro I am not longer able to open and edit my web site after importing the software or even reinstalling. I was told upon purchase that I could change computer once without purchasing new soft ware what to do next?

In my opinion, the itunes backup to CD/DVD is very poor. Plus, if you take the trouble to test it and try to restore before you actually need to restore, you might find that the restore does not work.
My advice is to buy an external hard drive and use that for backups.
Assuming you have the default iTunes setup, all you need to do to backup is copy the iTunes folderand all its subfolders to the exHD.
This will copy the itunesLibrary.itl file (database with play lists, ratings, playcounts), the Mobile Applications and Artwork folder, and all your artist/albums.
If you have a special iTunes setup, then you need to figure out yourself what folders you need to back up.

Fireworks Nav menus to Dreamweaver (CS3) not working

years) i upgraded to CS3 versions, and then went to update a menu

thousand times before), the menu looks great when to check and it

I have experienced the similar problem when building entire
pages from fireworks CS3 (with dd menu) and exporting into
dreamweaver.
Someone recommended using spry widgets in dreamweaver
instead- might be worth looking into?

Power Saving turn monitor off not working in XP Pro

Hi I just got a new 24" imac (the previous generation, white model)
In windows xp the screen saver works, but the power saving feature to save the monitor and turn it off does not work. Many other people are having this same problem but apple has not fixed it yet.

I think I resolved this! I had the same issues you have been having for a few months. I am actually running Vista. Here is what I did...
1. While booted to Windows I uninstalled boot camp
2. Re-installed boot camp from Leopard DVD
3. Installed boot camp update 2.1 (downloaded from Apple support, i know this is for XP only, but I updated anyway.)
4. Downloaded the realtek drivers (high definition audio codecs) from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
5. DO NOT use the Realtek installer to install the drivers...instead extract the contents to a folder.
6. Go to the device manager, locate the High Definition Audio device and updated the drivers from here (point to the folder where you extracted the drivers).
I now have sound out of the rear jack!! Hope this help someone

Raw plugin photoshop CS3 not working

Have a new laptop Samsung QX412, can't get raw to open in photoshop cs3. It works in my desktop. Laptop running windows 7 (64) Home. Photoshop shows "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document". Have updated both photoshop CS3 and bridge. Photo's being saved in bridge from camera, Canon 50D. Have tried comments from windows forum. Still no go. As someone else has said, I'm a photographer not an IT expert and starting to get quite frustrated. I would appreciate help. Thankyou.

To use Windows effectively, sometimes you just have to get into the technical aspects of using the computer...
Search your system in the vicinity of the folders used for Photoshop plug-ins (e.g., under C:\Program Files\Common Files) for multiple copies of the file Camera Raw.8bi and note the dates/sizes. Somehow, because of a mistake in trying to install it, I suspect you have multiple copies, and Photoshop is still using one other than the one you installed.
Normally, Photoshop CS3 will look for Camera Raw.8bi in this location:
(on a 32 bit operating system): C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi
(on a 64 bit operating system): C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi
The Camera Raw 4.6 plug-in file on my system has these characteristics (note specifically the size).

Droplets in CS3 not working

Droplets are inactive in CS3. I had CS2 on my MacBook Pro, and thought I got all the files removed, but apparently not. There are a few post on the web regarding leftover files that point Photoshop to CS2, but the solutions are for windows machines.

.mov file saved from other Mac not working on new Macbook

My old Macbook Pro started acting funny so I saved all my pictures and videos to USB drives. My new Macbook (OSX 10.5.8) with QuickTime (version 7.6.4) will not open the .mov files. Per another similar thread it was suggested to enable the "Show legacy encoders" under QuickTime Advanced Preferences, but it still won't work. QuickTime opens and plays the file but there is no sound or picture? Any suggestions?

Not sure what you mean here. Did you use the "Save As..." option to save the files as "Reference" movies to the USB drive? If so, they can't open because the "Standalone" reference file is not available on the mew system for playback.

Codecs: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, DV, Tween, Integer (Big Endian)
What QT application are your referring to here? A "Tween" track is not usual for captured DV/AIFF content and would probably cause problems with an application like iMovie '08/'09 which don't like all possible MOV container track types.
That's unusual, there is no Format information available. Just 1)source, 2)data size, 3)data range, 4)current time, and 5)duration.
Sounds like corruption in the file, the QT embedded structure or the QT player. If the "small" files (like MPeG4/AAC) play okay, and only large ones (like DV/AIFF) have problems, then you may wish to check the USB drive format for file size limitations, data integrety, and/or other problems.

Photoshop CS3 not working

Hi, I have CS3, and recently, while working in Photoshop, several functions that would normally be available suddenly didn't work. The most obvious of which was that it did not allow me to set up a new file according to the specifications I would like. My only choices were preset options. Not sure what to do.. Uninstall, reinstall? Is there a setting on my Mac that I need to change? Any help would be appreciated!
